  • Error while using XML Iview, please contact your system administrator.

    Hello everybody,
    I have already posted a detailed message for the XML iview problem sometime back but havent got any reply so far. All the replies had come from users who are also facing the same problem. I am trying to use a XML iview for fetching RSS feeds from one of the internet source, i have entered the proper URL and selected the proper RSS to XHTMLB transformer also and have entered the proxy settings in the http service and enabled it and restarted it also, but again when i am previewing the Iview its giving me the error <b>"Error while using XML Iview, please contact your system administrator."</b>. I am using
        Area           Version
        J2EE Engine    6.40 PatchLevel 98256.313
        Portal         6.0.14.0.0
    , can someone tell me whether its a bug in sp14 or i am missing something while creating this XML Iview. Expecting a proper reply.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Sarabjeet.

    Hi Sarabjeet,
    The XML iView uses server-side fetching, so if you are having problems with a regular URL iView in server-side fetching mode, so the problem with the XML iVIew probably has to do with the proxy settings.
    And since you got a 407 error, it seems there is an issue with proxy settings or the proxy server, as mentioned in this description of 407 error:
    The HTTP 407 code only applies to users who are accessing the Internet behind a proxy server. This is common in government and corporate workplaces. The 407 code indicates that your computer must first authenticate itself with your company's proxy server. Check with your IT department or computer support group as to the exact reason why you may be getting this error. It may be possible that the proxy server does not allow downloads of specific files (exe, cab, com). You can also verify that your proxy server settings are valid.
    I will check if I can find out any more specific info.

  • RSS Feed XML iView Suffix

    Hi,
    we created a XML iView for a RSS Input. Out problem is, if the rss - feed ends upon .xml everything work fine. Unfortunatly our RSS - feed URL does not end with .xml and so the iView produces only an error message.
    Does anyone know how to configure the iView to run without the xml suffix? (We are not able to manipulate the RSS feed)
    Greetings

    sorry bur i don't know!

  • Xml iview not working in EP 7

    I am trying to fetch RSS feeds through XML iview in EP 7 - it is giving the error "<b>Error while using XML iView, please contact your system administrator</b>".
    I did the same successfully in EP 6 without any problem. The settings i have configured for the XML iview are same for EP 6.0 and EP 7.0. I even checked the proxy settings in Service configuration and it is all right.
    Any suggestions on this?
    I have checked with a number of feeds to confirm that the error is not feed dependant.

    A colleague of mine have raised an OSS on this. Still no reply from SAP. Now it is a bit urgent for me as I have to solve this ASAP.
    If you find the solution please let me know. I think this problem is rarely reported since most organisations are still on EP 6.0.
    There seem to a problem of RSS support of the EP7 platform.

  • How to create xml IView

    Hi Experts,
       I have created one scheduler task.  In that scheduler service, i have written code to get the rss of the yahoo page ( http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/world ) as a xml file into my KM content.  The Scheduler service updates the xml file which is in my KM Content, with some periods what i have given in scheduler task configuration.
       The problem is, when i use the same yahoo url to create xml iview, its working fine and showing the news page.  Same way, i have created the xml iview for the xml file obtained from yahoo page, its showing error as <b>"Error while using XML iView, please contact your system administrator"</b>.  Please help in this regard.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Venkatesh. K.

    hi,
    goto content administration -> portal content -> goto your folder -> right click -> create iview -> choose the default option ie., iview from PRT, and then in selection list you choose xml iview and proceed further....
    enter the required fields and press next
    in url field you need to enter the .xml file which is already deployed in IIS server
    ie.,
    http://<host name>:port number/<your file name.xml>
    and press next and save.

  • "Error while using XML iview" with XML iview template

    Our portal platform: HP-UX,  WAS 6.40 JAVA, EP 6.0 SP14
    We created an XML iview using XML iview template and configured the XML source URL with RSS feeder addresses such as"https://forums.sdn.sap.com/rss/rssmessages.jsp?forumID=41". And then select RSS to XHTMLB as the XML transformation format and save.  When I try to preview the iview, I always got error "Error while using XML iview, please contact your system administrator".  Here is the log and among which I found an error "java.net.UnknownHostException: news.163.com".  Does this indicate that the Portal server is not able to interpret the address of the URL host?

  • XML - ExportDocument problem

    I'm exporting a xml document that I'm creating dynamically in my application.
    I'm having the following problems (working with 30M.2).
    1)
    It's not possible to edit a DTD (or creating one run time) so I have to write a
    template doc XML to have it.
    I'm afraid that this is a costraint on the DOM1 so ...
    2)
    Once I complete the construction of the doc, I need to write it down (let's say
    on a file, but could be also in memory to send it on http).
    When I write it (using exportdocument function) I just find the root element
    with all it's children, no haeder (<?xml version="1.0" ?><!DOCUMENT ...>) so I
    cannot have the dtd information on the stream, and cannot enforce validation of
    the doc when someone read it afterwards.
    I admit I'm new of the subject, but or I miss something or something is wrong:
    having trouble to get a dtd and not being able to code it's information.
    Anyone has some ideas?
    TIA
    Luca

    I'm interested in DTDs. For example in the reported situation, why, if you
    know you've created a valid XML document would you want to give a DTD to
    someone at the other end? If someone has a DTD at the other end and want to
    use it to validate your XML then fine but if you create the XML and are
    controlling the format then wouldn't they just assume the XML correct if the
    DTD wasn't being controlled by a 3rd party or themselves?
    DTDs don't help you create a document but just validate it, I'd thought. If
    there is more to DTDs I'd appreciate if someone felt like ellaborating.
    Thanks.

  • Txt to xml. Problems with characters(&, , ',...)

    I want to generate a xml file with text from a txt file but i have problems with special characters such as &, <... I'd like to know if theres any class or library to filter the text in order to generate my xml without problems.
    Thank you.

    Use JDOM to generate your XML. It will worry about escaping issues for you.
    Here's a (probably rather inelegant) example for you to play around with:
    import javax.xml.parsers.*;
    import javax.xml.transform.*;
    import javax.xml.transform.dom.DOMSource;
    import javax.xml.transform.stream.StreamResult;
    import org.w3c.dom.*;
    public class DateBoom {
         public static void main(String[] args)
              throws Exception
              DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
              DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
              String dodgyText = "< & '";
              Document document = builder.newDocument();
              Element root = document.createElement("root");
              root.setAttribute("dodgy",dodgyText);
              document.appendChild(root);
              Element child = document.createElement("child");
              root.appendChild(child);
              child.appendChild(document.createTextNode(dodgyText));
              Transformer transform = TransformerFactory.newInstance().newTransformer();
              Source source = new DOMSource(document);
              Result result = new StreamResult(System.out);
              transform.transform(source,result);
    }Your alternative is to use something like String regular expressions (regex) to do this manually, but the XML oriented libraries will catch more corner cases than you're likely to anticipate, making them more reliable.

  • Custom xml transformer provider for xml iview template

    I have been trying to get a custom simple xml transformer to work, which will show up in the xml iview template.  I have seen the SAP Help docs and the recent weblogs on the subject.  I can't get this simple transform functionality to work.  I can get as far as registering my own transformer, however I get an error on the page when trying to use it: "Error while using XML iView, please contact your system administrator."  My understanding was all I needed to do was provide a xsl, a transformers.xml file, and a service reference in the portalapp.xml.
    All I really want to do is take some xml docs I created and display them in the portal.  I know that I can write a quick java app to do this myself.  However, I am trying to use the built in functionality of the portal (which it appears no one is using except for RSS feeds).
    I would prefer to have the output be htmlb from my xsl file.  My understanding was that I should create my own xml tranformer provider and then also use the XHTMLB --> HTMLB built in transformer.
    Has anyone been successful in trying to create their own xml transformer for the xml iView?
    I am wasting a lot of time trying to use methods in the SAP Help Docs, is it worth the effort to use the transformer method?
    Eager to award points,
    Sean

    Hi
    I have successfully deployed a transformer by doing the following:
    In PAR, in /dist/xml/XSLLibrary/Transformers, put XSL
    In /dist/xml, put transformers.xml file that describes the XSL
    In portalapp.xml, add registry entry for transformer and service entry for transformer service.
    If you want, you can send transformer PAR and I can look at it ([email protected]).
    There could be something wrong with the XSL; this would be more complicated to diagnose.

  • Using xml iView to get data from URL generating rss feeds

    hi,
    I have a URL
    http://xml.weather.yahoo.com/forecastrss?p=USCA1116
    from the yahoo weather site.
    It opens XML data.
    I then created an XML iView in the following way:
    In step 3 in XML source; i typed the above URL. Clicked on Next.
    In Step 4 for Selected XML translation format I chose MY_RSS_TO_XHTMLB.
    When I preview it gives the message : Error while using XML iView, please contact your system administrator.
    I have Portal SP14.
    So as mentioned before in a forum, I went to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Service Configuration -> Applications -> com.sap.portal.ivs.httpservice-> proxy
    and changed "HTTP Proxy Host" to "proxy" and "HTTP Proxy Port" to 8080.
    Then to re start I right clicked com.sap.portal.ivs.httpservice, went to Administrate and restarted the services.
    But I still get the same message
    Error while using XML iView, please contact your system administrator.
    Can you please let me know if these 2 settings are correct.
    thx.

    Hi,
    Could you please let me know if you were able to solve this issue. Inspite of all the suggested configuration we are still getting the same error, as stated by you.
    Anyone able to overcome this issue, please reply. Also let me know if we need to consider any specific versions of portal & browser, JRE etc..
    Thanks,
    KSK

  • Proxy settings for RSS-fees xml iView in portal v 7.0

    Hi,
    I have created an xml iView for RSS-feed and continue to receive this error when I want to preview the iview:
    "Error while using XML iView, please contact your system administrator"
    My proxy settings have been changed in
    System-Configuration --> Service Configuration --> Applications --> com.sap.portal.ivs.httpservice
    "HTTP Proxy Host" =(value both "proxy" and the IP-Adress of the proxy has been tried)
    "HTTP Proxy Port"  = value "8080"
    HTTP JVM Settings = value "true"
    Restarted the portal, but no result.
    Any tips / hints how I can solve this?
    Thankx,
    hilde

    I think that the RSS iview works the same as the URL iview in that it is actually going from your browser to the URL rather than from the portal to the URL - so proxy settings should not make any difference.
    I have found the RSS feed functionality to be very picky on what XML works and what doesn't - so it may be that.

  • Auto Refresh XML Iview

    Hi,
    I created an xml iview that pulls in Yahoo stock quotes for our company. The iview works fine. Where do I set a property that tells the iview to auto refresh? I have not been able to find that. Our environment is NW04 Stack 11.
    Thanks,
    Kris

    Hi Kris,
         You have to a server side timer component that tells the iview to refresh after certain amount of time. In a Dynpage the code will be following.
    Form myForm = getForm();
    Timer timer = new Timer("timeOut");
    //this is the event method
    timer.setServerEventName("myTimeoutEvent");
    //time in milli seconds
    timer.setTimeOut(600000);
    myForm.addComponent(timer);
