XMl Publisher with Tools 8.48.08

Hi All,
We're currently using XMLP for generating custom reports in T&E FSCM 8.9...
The requirement is that once the Report(PDF) is generated, the AE should mail that to the appropriate Employee. We're generating reports using the Bursting Functionality of XMLP...The problem that we are facing is that the generated report(PDF) cannot be added as an attachment to the Email since the File Directory in which we want the Report to be generated is not happening. PS is by default generating all the reports under the psreports folder with the Report ID...and that path we are not able to traverse by using the Content ID & process Instance, since the Commit has not happened. As per PBooks, if you want to publish the report in another directory then one can Publish the report in required directory after the Report has been processed using ".ProcessReport();". However PBooks also says that the directory should not be specified for reports which have been processed using ProcessReport();....To me they seem to be contradicting Statements...
Bottom Line - We'hv used the PeopleCode in the PBooks for XML Publisher...& that does not work as stated...Just wondering if we have missed out on any configs...from our side...???
Any inputs would be greatly appreciated...
Thank You

Finally...
Oracle's BI Publisher is not that mature enough so that one can use it freely across modules/applications...especially 5.6.2...
We had tonnes of problems with the existing installation...and to make life difficult the entire application has been coded in such a way that the core/logic is in the class files...there is very little the user/developer can do when the class methods start failing...we had to tweak the OOB App Package PSXP_RPT...* to get it to work the way we desired....and the worst of all...all the so called documentation in the PBooks for XML Publisher is as good as nothing....PeopleCode given in the PBooks for XMLP does not work...Strange but True!!!...

  • XML publisher with Rightfax

    Greetings -
We currently have a software called Rightfax which can take any input file and send the file to a fax number or email based on the "FCL code" embedded within the input file.
Does anyone here have any experience integrating XML publisher with a third party fax tool like Rightfax? Please share any ideas/thoughts.
    Thanks,
    T.R. Srikanth

We cut a PO this morning for STR AventX. I got an email from STR tech support saying they were ready when I was, I got back to them mid-afternoon and set up a VPN connection for them, they logged in at 4:14:33 pm, I received a Fax from them at 5:59:11, actually from the new fax server saying AventX Unix is completely installed, it also sent me an email. They gave me instructions for setting up the XMLP Template, and I guess we are almost ready to send a fax. I will let you all know how that turns out.
BTW, There was a third party product that claimed they would get rightfax to work... I am pretty sure they can but it envolved buying another product and our management was getting upset with the Rightfax approach of selling us more addons and them not working.
After our Procurement Manager saw the Web Demo of AventX there was no way she was going to be satisfied with Rightfax.

  • XML publisher with jdeveloper

    Hi all,
I'm wondering if there is an API of XML Publisher for using with jdeveloper for development a reporting system. After I have run queries in database, I want to present tuples in a formatted fashion in PDF, RTF document etc. There are open source facilities like jasper reports etc, if XML publisher facilitates my reporting part of my system, I want to plan reporting development via XML Publisher!
So, How I can integrate XML Publisher with jdeveloper? Is there any API documentation?
    best regards...

XML Publisher ships with 2 XDK parsers a 9i version for backward compatibility and 10g version - you can switch at runtim using the properties. However, you have to make sure that the XML Publisher versions of the libraries are used and not the ones coming with i.e. jdeveloper version or oc4j version that you are using. You should use the version shipped with XML Publisher, because these versions are thoroughly tested with XML Publisher.
See the deployment notes in the install document:
    Oracle OC4J Deployment Notes
The version of the XML Parser shipped with Oracle OC4J is incompatible with XML Publisher. When you create an XML Publisher application for OC4J you need to configure the system to use the XML Publisher version of the XML Parser. This can be accomplished by setting an orion-web.xml configuration file with the following content:
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <orion-web-app>
    <web-app-class-loader search-local-classes-first="true" />
    </orion-web-app>

  • Xml publisher with xe

    HI TO ALL,
i have a question: can i try to use xml publisher with oracle xe.
    Does it work?
I haven't read anything about xml pubblisher configuration and requirements
    Thankx

    hey, it works
you need only to set the jdbc connection for a user that got the demo tables (the builtin HR user with all the tables of the demo application works super).
    Now it's all about money....
    bye bye

  • XML Publisher with Non Oracle databases

    Hi,
Can we use XML Publisher with non oracle databases like Postgres ,mySQL etc.

    Hi
Not sure if you're talking Apps or non but you can do it equally with both. Check out the Data Engine in the user guide and look for Distributed Queries. XMLP will need a jdbc connection to the db but you can then pass a query and get XML back.
You can even write one query to pull back say customers from Oracle and their invoices from MySQL, you'll get a merged data set back with a master detail relationship btw customers-invoices

  • XML Publisher with PeopleTools 8.46.08

Has anyone implemented XML Publisher for use as a reporting tool with PeopleSoft (Tools version 8.46.08)?

Tim, Thanks for the update. I am in Development for the Enterprise SCM product and have been assigned to figure out how XMLP works and how we can convert our existing stuff to it and then teach it to my team. We will be using 8.48 starting next week for our 9.0 development. So is it already embedded in the 8.48 product? I believe we will be developing starting with the 107 build. Any info on XMLP in 8.48 would be great. I am just starting to dig in and it looks good.

  • XML Publisher with output type EXCEL is taking time to finish than for PDF

    Hi Guru's,
    I got a strange problem.
When i submit a report by choosing output format type as EXCEL, it is taking much time to complete. The same report if i choose PDF finishing in half of the time of EXCEL report. Also when we go with "view output" it is taking 4 mins to show the output. Total number of records existed are 6000 only.
Please suggest me the solutions or alternatives if any.
Thanks in advance and waiting for your response.
    Regards,
    Phani Reddy

it is taking much time to complete. The same report if i choose PDF finishing
in half of the time of EXCEL report. Excel is a complicated and proprietary file format. Whilst I know nothing about XML Publisher I do know that putting any sort of output into Excel format takes a long time. It's because it has to be done on a cell-by-cell basis. It's much faster to blat stuff out row-by-row.
    Cheers, APC

  • XML Publisher with Service Module - Service Request Reports -- URGENT

Hi all ... any pointers/help/guidance with the problem listed below would be much appreciated.
I'm working in the context of the Oracle Service Module & Service Request Reports.
I'm required to configure the XML Publisher Responsibility seeded functionality with the service module reports.
Listed below are the two reporting requirements that I'm considering , corresponding to the following seeded XMLP Responsibility seeded components:
(I'm quoting an extract from the Oracle TeleService Implementation & User Guide here).
    Detailed Report
Data Definition: Service Request Detail Definition (CS_SR_DETAIL_DEF)
Corresponding Template: Service Request Detail Report Template (CS_SR_DETAIL_TMP.en)
Template Description: Includes all of the available service request attributes including charges, the two descriptive flexfields, and extensible attributes.
    Summary Report
Data Definition: Service Request Summary Definition (CS_SR_SUMMARY_DEF)
Corresponding Template: Service Request Summary Report Template (CS_SR_SUMMARY_TMP_en)
Template Description: Includes a subset of the detailed report attributes including the same charges information as the detailed report.
When I log into the EBS >> XML Publisher Administrator Responsibility >> Service Application ... I find these seeded XMLP components, together with the preview data, downloadable templates & sample output.
    The question is:
Where (responsibility/application/navigation/etc.) do I find the seeded EBS Service Reports to provide the expected XML input to the seeded XMLP Service Request Data Definitions & Templates????
    Notes ...
I have found the following two reports, under the Service Application in EBS, set their output type to XML and viewed the output of the submitted request:
    - Service Request Detail Report
    - Service Request Summary Report
... but each of these two reports produce XML output of a different data model/structure to that expected by each of the corresponding seeded XMLP data-definitions/templates.
Additionally, I cannot find any corresponding concurrent program definitions on the system with the same SHORT-NAME/CODE as the seeded XMLP data definitions themselves i.e. CS_SR_DETAIL_DEF and CS_SR_SUMMARY_DEF.
Are the necessary reports not actually seeded within EBS? Do the seeded XMLP data definitions & templates require development of new Concurrent Programs from scratch to access the database tables and provide the necessary data/input, or am I missing something here??

I am sure you found a solution to your problem. If not, to give a pointer to this issue, I guess these reports are gererated right from the service request screen and this definition is used there. This report can be generated from several places based on where you are within SR scree.
    Thanks

  • Using XML Publisher with plsql package data source?

    Hi,
I have a html gantt chart which i create using a plsql package and the use of the htp.p procedure for output to a webpage.
I want to be able to print this to PDF and was hoping the XML Publisher may be an option for doing this. The datasource for this however seems to be a sql query or XML feed.
Can anyone provide any suggestions on this??

With a Pipelined Table Function you can use a function in your FROM-clause (so you'll have a normal SELECT, but in the background the data comes from a PL/SQL-function):
    SELECT * FROM TABLE( <function_name> )

  • Is it possible to use xml publisher with xml document as data source ?

I have an application that have to publish document from xml document that are not part a oracle 10g database but will be stored into Oracle Berkeley XML database insteed. Is it possible to use server and/or desktop to publish these documents ?
I test the desktop edition using the source xml document but it render no data when the template is executed (vizualization)
I installed the server edition and i'm not able to declare xml document as a data source
So i have a doubt that xml publisher is able to publish something from a xml datasource
    Thanks

    Yes, it is possible.
The problem should come from your template. Refer to "edit a RTF template" in the docs.
A fact is that XML Publisher server edition is not very adapted to an XML file datasource. In order to use it, you should use an HTTP datasource, with the URL of your XML document (that you should place on a web server...). The problem is that this URL is fixed and point always on the same reference...so XML Publisher server edition is not very good for that use.
I choose to use the XML Publisher Java API which is better for this task.

  • JDeveloper and XML Publisher with EBS ?

    Hi All,
Can anyone clarify my doubts ?
I am new to Java and i have some experience in XMLP, but i saw in the User guide the Java API's, how to and where to run those API's.
And is JDeveloper used with XMLP to run Java API's ?, if yes can u pls explain how to start working on that and what is the relation between JDeveloper and XML Publisher in EBS.
