  • Oracle Report call Oracle Report to generate single output

    Is it possible for an Oracle Report to call another Oracle Report and generate single output?
    Report one is a form letter and the second report is the accompanying information described in the letter. The reports cannot be merged because the second report is very complex and used by many programs and purposes.
    Using 6i on 10g database, currently migrating to 11g Reports and database.
    Thank you.

    6i is not certified with 10g DatabaseWell, that is not completely true. 6i Even works and is partly certified against 11g, since Oracle Apps 11 is built in Developer 6i and certified against 11g.
    To call a report from a report use SRW.RUN_REPORT.

  • Reports which generate Excel output do not open under ie8/Oracle Forms

    Hello,
    we run Oracle Forms (regardless whether under Jinitiator 1.3.1.22(28) or SUN JVM) and generate Excel output with Oracle Reports (web.show_document). This works well under Internet Explorer 6 (ie6) but not under Internet Explorer 8 (ie8).
    The effect ist that a new browser window opens and closes very quickly without anything further happening.
    I honestly assume that this has not to do with oracle reports but ask this nevertheless in this forum as there might be people which made the same experiences...
    I additionally found out that the same problem exists when gerenating excel or ms word output via a db procedure (with http. modules). There I found that suppressing the question (open/save/cancel) before opening a file (via the windows explorer file type association menu) helped with excel and ms word output (but this might be regarded as a not satisfying workaround).
    The problem persists with other applications' file types than XLS or DOC which are also correctly registered on the client.
    I'm not sure whether mimetypes sent along with the files (which were obviously correct with ie6) play a role in this problem.
    Peter

    Hello,
    Your problem with IE 8 seems to be similar to the one discussed here :
    IE7 windows opened and closed immediatly
    http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Internet_Email/Web_Browsers/Interne
    t_Explorer/Q_23304982.html
    You can test the solution suggested :
    We have found the setting that we needed, under the Internet Options
    Security tab, if you select the internet zone, and click the custom level
    button, then scroll down to the Downloads section, the first option is
    Automatic prompting for file downloads, setting this to enable keeps IE 7
    from interfering with this sort of download.

  • Run two reports but generate one output

    I have developed two reports, one is a detail (portrait style) and another is a summary report (landscape). Now I need to provide an option that will run both the reports but display the output in one document (the document should contain both the detail and summary content).
    Ideal scenario would be to call the report one after another but capture the output in one file but I am not sure whether it's possible in Reports.
    Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi DC,
    Thanks for your reply. I tried to figure out how to create a new section by looking at the document i have (building reports), it directs me to create a new report block and treat it as a new report. Is that what you meant? I tried to follow the report wizard but it's only displaying the summary total columns not the details (i know it's difficult to troubleshoot without viewing the report). I just want to make sure i am at the right place creating a new report section.
    Again thanks for your reply.

  • Can Sentinel RD reports be in CSV format instead of PDF

    Hi,
    I am working with Sentinel RD and generating custom reports using
    iReport. I was wondering if I can generate a custom report where the
    output is in CSV format instead of PDF and can be scheduled in the same
    way as the PDF are.
    What do I need to do to achieve this?

    Here is how to output report results in CSV format in SLM 1.1 (or
    later):
    STEP 1: Go to the $ESEC_CONFIG_HOME directory on your SLM server (It
    will be something like: /etc/opt/novell/sentinel_log_mgr/config).
    STEP 2: Open the file
    "obj-component.JasperReportingComponent.properties" for editing.
    STEP 3: Specify the following fields/values in that properties file:
    reporting.csv.enable=true
    reporting.csv.email=true
    reporting.csv.outputdir=/opt/mycsvreportresults
    STEP 4: Save the file.
    STEP 5: I *think* you have to restart the SLM server after making
    changes to any of these properties.
    Some things to take note of:
    NOTE 1: You can specify any directory (that the novell user has
    permission to write to) in the "reporting.csv.outputdir" setting. This
    will cause a .csv file to be created in that directory whenever a report
    is run.
    NOTE 2: If you set the "reporting.csv.email" setting to true, the .csv
    report results will be included with any report results that are
    emailed.
    NOTE 3: The CSV results will include all of the report information in
    the the .csv... including the header information any output from any
    subreports. That additional information may not always be desireable in
    the CSV results, so if you find the format of the .csv to not be what
    you need or too difficult to work with, you might want to consider
    creating a new report where there results/output are more optimized for
    .csv output (may without any header or subreport information).
    NOTE 4: Regardless of whether csv output is enabled or not, the
    standard PDFs results will always be generated.
    NOTE 5: The CSV results are not accessible through the GUI, but instead
    are accessible by looking in the directory you specify via the
    "reporting.csv.outputdir" property ... or via any report result emails
    if the "reporting.csv.email" property is set to true.
    NOTE 6: Just FYI: That "reporting.pdf.outputdir" property that you will
    also see in the "obj-component.JasperReportingComponent.properties" file
    is if you want to have the PDF results to be placed in a directory on
    the server. (PDF results will always be accessible via the GUI
    regardless of this setting.)

  • JasperReportIntegration tool - Report coming back as HTML instead of PDF

    Using:
    * Apex 4.1.1 (using EPG)
    * 11G SE
    * Apache FOP as print Server
    * Dietmar Aust's free tool on integrating JasperReports
    I've recently created a second APEX instance locally (from externally hosted instance) and copied the application (via application export) and parsing schema (using exp/imp). Everything works fine except when I try to print reports (for JasperReports) it comes up as garbled HTML instead of PDF.
    In my hosted instance it all works fine.
    Since the necessary packages to integrate with Jasper reports goes into the parsing schema for application, all necessary objects are imported as well during the exp/imp.
    The only thing different about the hosted and my local instance is that the hosted one is XE where as my local one is SE but I don't think this is a factor at all.
    The other difference is the hosted instance uses Apex Listener while mine doesn't. Again don't think this a factor as well.
    My print server is enabled and working and I can print tables as PDF reports.
    I am not sure if I need to enable something or missed a step needed so the reports come up as expected as is the case in hosted instance. Any hints or suggestions welcome.
    Cheers.

    Hi Dietmar, I couldn't do it as I couldn't find that line I needed to modify. The XLIB_HTTP package goes upto line 45 and those lines referred in that post goes upto 89,90.
    But then I was due to change from EPG to Web Server + Apex Listener (for other reasons) which in turn solved my issue anyway.

  • XML Publisher Report not generating the PDF output.

    Hi,
    I am trying to develop a XML Publisher Report in R12 Vision Instance.
    I have developed the rdf report and concurrent program with XML as output format. Ran the concurrent program and I got the XML output. Based on XML output I have created the rtf template. Using both the template and xml output I have created in Data Definition and Template in XML Publisher Administrator Responsibility. Now I am comming to the concurrent program and running the program, here instead of generating the PDF output it is generating again the XML output and concurrent program completing with warning status.
    When I am trying to do the same in 11i Vision Instance, Concurrent Program completing with normal status and when trying to view the output it is saying "Unable to Publish output for the Processed Request".
    Kindly please help me out in this issue.
    Thanks,
    Manasa.

    Hi Mahesh,
    Here the concurrent programs are not erroring out. It is completing with Warning status and when we click on View Output the output is coming in XML format instead of PDF, this is in R12 Vision Instance.
    In 11i Vision Instance, concurrent program is completing with Normal Status but when we click on View Output it is saying "Unable to Publish output for specified request".
    Thanks,
    Manasa.

  • XML output email attachment.

    Hi All,
    Our client is currently suing the XMLP reports in their Receivables applications. The current functionalities are covered in the current report.
    1. Generate the invoice report in pdf output. (It uses RDF to generate the xml data)
    2. Based on the bursting setup deliver the pdf report to various destination.
    3. Send the pdf report as attachment though email.
    For this, We need to submit the one concurrent program at the time of processing, it submits the second concurrent program for bursting and then it submits the third concurrent program for attaching the pdf with the mail.
    Now based on the latest partner system changes this requirement is changed to deliver the xml file instead of pdf file. They have given the specific tags that needs to be included in the xml file. Please note, these tags are different or same as the table column names.
    Example:
    Column Name : INVOICE_NUMBER
    xml tag : VendorInvoiceNumber.
    Is it possible to achieve the whole new requirement. If so, could you please tell me how? I very much appreciate your help in this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Go to OTN and get the mail example.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/pl_sql/htdocs/Utl_Smtp_Sample.html
    Then use something like this (example below is sending xml to render as an Excel sheet, has to be opened as an XML table in Outlook 2007):
    declare
    conn utl_smtp.connection;
    begin
    conn := demo_mail.begin_mail('sender','recipient list','Subject of email','multipart/mixed; boundary="-----7D81B75CCC90D2974F7A1CBD"');
    demo_mail.attach_text(conn,'Enter comments for the message body','text/plain');
    demo_mail.attach_text(conn,dbms_xmlgen.getxml('select whatever from wherever'),'application/msexcel',TRUE,'Name of your file.xls');
    demo_mail.end_mail(conn);
    end;
    You can use this as the framework to create your mail sending package:
    http://dizwell.com/2008/04/28/automatically-emailing-excel-spreadsheets-from-oracle/
    Then just figure out how/where you want the mail sending to be triggered.

  • Dev 6.0 Reports: Error when generating delimited output

    It seems there may be a problem when trying to use the generate
    delimited output command in Developer 6.0 Reports run-time.
    I have a report with a formula column that performs a simple
    calculation 'x is what percent of y,' where x and y are fields on
    the report. From Report Builder I can preview the report and
    generate delimited output without any problems. It is quite
    nice. Unfortunately this is not true when using the run-time
    exacutable outside of Report Builder.
    The report runs without a problem, but when I choose to generate
    to a file as delimited output (comma delimited with quotes as
    cell wrappers) I receive the error:
    'REP-1249 Column <column name> has no PL/SQL formula.' It seems
    that summary columns work fine, but if the report contains a
    formula column then it fails. If I remove the formula column and
    generate to a file as delimited output it works fine.
    Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to solve this problem?
    Thanks,
    Scott H.

    Hi Scott,
    could only guess, but try to have your report compiled to a .rep
    file instead of using .rdf. Maybe it helps.
