XML Schema in PI 7.0
Hi...
Can anyone tell me about how to validate the schemas in PI 7.0.
Here is the method validation which you can use in adapter module .
Use SAX /DOM parsing to prepare the output document if any change is required for the output file structure after validation.or else if the file is valid just send the inputstream as it is as the output (SAX is a better option for changing structure)
The code is to validate the xml with no namespace schema location .please palce the xsd on server inside usr/sap/<SID>/DVE/j2ee/cluster/server0 folder
public boolean validateXml(byte[] xmlName)
// preparing the XML file as a input source
InputSource source =
new InputSource(new java.io.ByteArrayInputStream(xmlName));
//String parserClass = "org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser";
String parserClass = "com.sap.engine.lib.xml.parser.SAXParser";
String validationFeature = "http://xml.org/sax/features/validation";
String schemaFeature =
"http://apache.org/xml/features/validation/schema";
//String namespacesFeature = "http://xml.org/sax/features/namespaces";
//String noNamespaceProperty ="http://apache.org/xml/properties/schema/external-noNamespaceSchemaLocation";
//String dynamicFeature = "http://apache.org/xml/features/validation/dynamic";
//XMLValidationBean vl = new XMLValidationBean();
try
XMLReader r = XMLReaderFactory.createXMLReader(parserClass);
r.setFeature(validationFeature, true);
//r.setFeature(namespacesFeature,true);
//r.setFeature(dynamicFeature,true);
r.setFeature(schemaFeature, true);
r.setErrorHandler(this);
// if(checkOrderType(xmlName))
// r.setProperty( "http://apache.org/xml/properties/schema/external-noNamespaceSchemaLocation" , "EDItX_TradeOrder_V1.1.xsd");
// else
// r.setProperty( "http://apache.org/xml/properties/schema/external-noNamespaceSchemaLocation" , "abc.xsd");
r.parse(source);
//System.out.println("ValidateXML :" + isValid);
catch (SAXException e)
isValid = false;
Audit.addAuditLogEntry(
myAuditMsgKey,
AuditLogStatus.ERROR,
"Exception : " + e.getCause());
catch (IOException e)
Audit.addAuditLogEntry(
myAuditMsgKey,
AuditLogStatus.ERROR,
"Exception : " + e.getMessage());
catch (Throwable e)
Audit.addAuditLogEntry(
myAuditMsgKey,
AuditLogStatus.ERROR,
"Exception : " + e.getMessage());
//Audit.flushAuditLogEntries(myAuditMsgKey);
return isValid;

How do you create an xsd file for an xml schema in BI Publisher?
Helllo.
I hope this is a really daft question for somebody..
How I create an xsd file to be used as an xml schema to attach to a Data Definition that Ive created? I've obv. got the xml and rtf files ready and attached. I've looked through the relevant docs (XML Publisher Report Designer's Guide.pdf & XML Publisher Administration and Developer's Guide.pdf) but can't find where..
Once this has been done then I can run the template via ORACLE Financials for the reports I've converted.
many thanks..
StevenI don't think you need to have an XSD it's an optional field. If you really want to create one use this site: http://www.hitsw.com/xml_utilites/
I believe I answered your question, don't forget to give me the points.

Urgent: Help required for fetching CHILDNODE from an XML schema.
Hi All,
Good Morning to all, i have problem in extracting the child node name. I have created a xml schema say "emrxmlsample3.xsd" based on this schema i have created a xmltype table and inserted a value to the table. I have a problem in fetching the "CHILDNODE" name. Kindly help me in solving this problem. Here by i am posting all the workings i have done...

You can get all elements names with :
SELECT value(x).getRootElement() chipsnodes

TABLE(
XMLSequence(
Extract(t.chipsemr, '//*')
) x
;or, starting with 10.2 :
SELECT x.*

XMLTable(
'for $i in //* return local-name($i)'
passing t.chipsemr
columns chipsnode varchar2(30) path '.'

Null value for int and datetime date type in xml schema
hi:
I am embarrassed by a qustion in xml schema; i defined a xml schema file like
this:
<elementFormDefault="qualified" attributeFormDefault="qualified">
<xs:element name="test">
<xs:annotation>
<xs:documentation>Comment describing your root element</xs:documentation>
</xs:annotation>
<xs:complexType>
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element name="name" type="xs:string"/>
<xs:element name="password" type="xs:string" nillable="true"/>
<xs:element name="user" type="xs:int" nillable="true"/>
<xs:element name="s_time" type="xs:dateTime"/>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:complexType>
</xs:element>
</xs:schema>
and I send this file to workflow clientrequest() node, I wanted to receive data
in this schema file.but when i send null value to the element "user" and "s_time"
in workshop test tool(test soap),and use function in xmlbean like isNilUser or
isNilStime, one error occur.
I don't kown why, I had to ask the engineer of bea in china, one told me a bug.
is that true?Visakh16 I cant agree more with you on it, it is good but in production u cant have them change maxrows. I think
Patrick Hurst is a better option. debug the package have it running and move up
Please mark as helpful and propose as answer if you find this as correct!!! Thanks,Dia Agha .
Hmm..Why do you need to change it in production?
What I suggested was to tweak the setting in dev machine so that it interprets the Excel file datatypes correctly when doing development. Once mapping is set correctly then it will work fine when in production or in any other environment. The tweaking is
just to make sure it interprets the datatype correctly at design time and has nothing to do with production deployment

XML Schema -- xsi:null in document instance and nullable in XSD
Hi,
I have an XML document
<DOC>
<EMP_ID>1</EMP_ID>
<EMP_NAME>Scott</EMP_NAME>
<EMP_ADDRESS>USA</EMP_ADDRESS>
</DOC>
As to what I understand, for the document to look like
<DOC>
<EMP_ID>1</EMP_ID>
<EMP_NAME>Scott</EMP_NAME>
<EMP_ADDRESS></EMP_ADDRESS>
</DOC>
with no value in <EMP_ADDRESS> tag, I have to use nullable attribute in XSD and xsi:null attribute in document. Is there any other way where we don't make any modificaitons in the documentHi, Thanks for the reply.I have a scenario like this :
1. We have lot of xml files in our application server ( size ranges form 2 MB to 200 MB).
2. We have xml schema based structured storage for a column "personjoininfo" for a relational table --- Table is :
CREATE TABLE PERSON_COMP_TABLE
empId VARCHAR2(100) CONSTRAINT pk_PERSONCOMP PRIMARY KEY
,comments VARCHAR2(20)
,joindate DATE
,personjoininfo xmltype
XMLTYPE COLUMN personjoininfo XMLSCHEMA "www.PersonInfoUrl.com" element "person"
3. What is the best option for me to load the xml files in the personjoin info column along with the other column values.
As I know , if I use the XML DIR ( directory feature ), I would need to put these xml files in the database server for loading ---
So, what are my options in this scenario for loading these xml files ?
Thanks -
XML Schema validator fails to load XML Schema from URL
I'm trying to validate an XML document against a set of XML Schemas and the parser seems to freak out: even though all the schemas are referred to in the XML and are properly recognized by Schemas field in XML document properties, I get warnings (multiple
instances):
Request for the permission of type 'System.Net.WebPermission, System, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed
Cannot resolve the 'schemaLocation' attribute
The schema referenced from this location in your document contains errors
The warning locations are also seemingly random - errors in schema locations are reported on closing tags inside XML or on whitespaces, and so on.
The first warning (System.Net.WebPermission) suggests it has something to do with access to remote schemas, but all the necessary remote schemas are visible in XML Schema Set editor for the document. I also enabled downloading of XML schemas in XML text
editor options.Hi Tomasz,
Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
Since this issue is related to the XML Schemas, so we will move this case to the XML forum:https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/home?forum=xmlandnetfx

XML Schema to generate table data from a repeating subform data
Hi All, I would like to have a check box that when checked, will hide a quotation form, and make a purchase order form visible, carrying over some of the field data from the quotation form into a new table on the Purchase order form. I've attached this form at https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=pqpsXx5VPi*LkMeVKrX57w if you would like to take a look. When the checkbox is unchecked, it will hid the PO form, and make the quite form visible.
The idea behind this is that my client will create his quote and send t to his customer. Once the customer accepts the quote, he can just click a button to generate his purchase order that he will send to his supplier.
It seems that because I've got buttons to add rows on the quote form that the problem is more complex. I would be able to do this myself if the table had a fixed number of rows and I was able to use global fields and naming each cell something different, but beacuse it's a single repeating subform, I can't seem to make it work at all.
I understand that because its a repeating subform that I need to create an XML schema to accomplish this, but also can't figure out for the life of me how to actually create the schema. I've been reading tons of tutorials, but no clue how to apply it to my specific need. I have only been able only find info on how to bind the data source once it's been created.
I would be forever grateful if anyone could help me out.
Thank you!I've edited your form and put it here.
Here's what I've done:
Inserted script into your checkbox renamed Accpted that hides/shows the Purchase Order/ Sales Quotation
I've included a scripting object with a function I wrote to transfer data from like named fields/subforms from one section to another
Inserted a few common fields into your Purchase Order table
What you need to do is complete the development of your Purchase Order table. Make sure the common fields between the quote and purchase tables have the same names in order to transfer the data.
No schema necessary.

Unable to locate Spring NamespaceHandler for XML schema namespace
I am not sure if this is the best practice approach but this is the problem I am ruining into. Below, I explain what I am doing:
1) What I am doing:
=============
Based on the oracle incubator example (http://coherence.oracle.com/display/INCUBATOR/Processing+Pattern+Examples); I am running a server and submitting tasks through a proxy application that submits them to ProcessingPatternConfigurator; let's call my task processReport.
a) my processReport is using spring and ibatis together, I created a utility static class to obtain a spring context and retrieves beans using the following lines ( see exhibit "A1 and A2" below).
b) when my task calls the context and that spring loads, it is failing with the error show in exhibit "B".
I suspect I am missing a lib? I googled the error and searched you site but could find a meaningful discussion on it. I guess my question is if this is not the best approach, how do I integrated with spring initializing beans and setting up ibatis framwork, providing beans and database access through Ibatis for each task ruining on the grid (processReport).
thanks
A1) processReport (submitted in the grid) uses this line
AbstractXmlApplicationContext ctx = (AbstractXmlApplicationContext) AmrContextUtil.getInstance();
System.out.println("Classpath loaded. Executing Report...");
ReportProcessor repProcessor = (ReportProcessor) ctx.getBean("reportProcessor");
A2) Here is the AmrContextUtil:
import org.springframework.context.support.AbstractApplicationContext;
import org.springframework.context.support.ClassPathXmlApplicationContext;
public final class AmrContextUtil {
private static AbstractApplicationContext ctx = null;
public AmrContextUtil() {
super();
public final static synchronized AbstractApplicationContext getInstance(){
if (ctx == null){
ctx = new ClassPathXmlApplicationContext("classpath:config/applicationContext.xml");
setCtx(ctx);
return ctx;
public final static synchronized AbstractApplicationContext getCtx() {
return ctx;
public final static synchronized void setCtx(AbstractApplicationContext ctx) {
AmrContextUtil.ctx = ctx;
B) Here is the error reported by the server:
2010-02-10 15:42:28.312/57.986 Oracle Coherence GE 3.5.2/463 <Warning> (thread=GridExecutor:Thread-2

</key>
<value>classpath:config/odsReportSqlMapConfig.xml</value>
</entry>
</map>
</property>
</bean>My guess is that something is broken in the configuration of the cacheServer and its not finding
all of the dependencies that your process pattern application needs. Probably the best way
to debug this stuff is to define a static main in your runnable task which will make the call
to the run() method and invoke it as the main class using the identical settings (classpath,
run directory) that you are using to launch the Coherence cache server.

Hi all,
I used the following code to create a new Database (ScottChangDB) and a new Table (marvel) in my SQL Server 2012 Management Studio (SSMS2012) successfully:
-- ScottChangDB.sql saved in C://Documents/SQL Server XQuery_MacLochlainns Weblog_code
-- 14 April 2015 09:15 AM
USE master
IF EXISTS
(SELECT 1
FROM sys.databases
WHERE name = 'ScottChangDB')
DROP DATABASE ScottChangDB
GO
CREATE DATABASE ScottChangDB
GO
USE ScottChangDB
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[marvel] (
[avenger_name] [char] (30) NULL, [ID] INT NULL)
INSERT INTO marvel
(avenger_name,ID)
VALUES
('Hulk', 1),
('Iron Man', 2),
('Black Widow', 3),
('Thor', 4),
('Captain America', 5),
('Hawkeye', 6),
('Winter Soldier', 7),
('Iron Patriot', 8);
SELECT avenger_name FROM marvel ORDER BY ID For XML PATH('')
DECLARE @x XML
SELECT @x=(SELECT avenger_name FROM marvel ORDER BY ID FOR XML PATH('Marvel'))--,ROOT('root'))
SELECT
person.value('Marvel[4]', 'varchar(100)') AS NAME
FROM @x.nodes('.') AS Tbl(person)
ORDER BY NAME DESC
--Or if you want the completed element
SELECT @x.query('/Marvel[4]/avenger_name')
DROP TABLE [marvel]
Now I am trying to create my first XML Schema Collection to do the Validation on the Field Name (Column Title) of the "marvel" Table. I have studied Chapter 4 XML SCHEMA COLLECTIONS of the book "Pro SQL Server 2008 XML" written by
Michael Coles (published by Apress) and some beginning pages of XQuery Language Reference, SQL Server 2012 Books ONline (published by Microsoft). I mimicked Coles' Listing 04-05 and I wanted to execute the following first-drafted sql in
my SSMS2012:
-- Reference [Scott Chang modified Listing04-05.sql of Pro SQL Server 2008 XML by Michael Coles (Apress)]
-- [shcColes04-05.sql saved in C:\\Documents\XML_SQL_Server2008_code_Coles_Apress]
-- [executed: 2 April 2015 15:04 PM]
-- shcXMLschemaTableValidate1.sql in ScottChangDB of SQL Server 2012 Management Studio (SSMS2012)
-- saved in C:\Documents\XQuery-SQLServer2012
tried to run: 15 April 2015 ??? AM
USE ScottChangDB;
GO
CREATE XML SCHEMA COLLECTION dbo. ComplexTestSchemaCollection_all
AS
N'<?xml version="1.0"?>
<xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<xsd:element name="marvel">
<xsd:complexType>
<xsd:all>
<xsd:element name="avenger_name" />
<xsd:element name="ID" />
</xsd:all>
</xsd:complexType>
</xsd:element>
</xsd:schema>';
GO
DECLARE @x XML (dbo. ComplexTestSchemaCollection_all);
SET @x = N'<?xml version="1.0"?>
<marvel>
<avenger_name>Thor</name>
<ID>4</ID>
</marvel>';
SELECT @x;
GO
DROP XML SCHEMA COLLECTION dbo.ComplexTestSchemaCollection_all;
GO
I feel that drafted sql is very shaky and it needs the SQL Server XML experts to modify to make it work for me. Please kindly help, exam the coding of my shcXMLTableValidate1.sql and modify it to work.
Thanks in advance,
Scott ChangHi Scott,
2) Yes, FOR XML PATH clause converts relational data to XML format with a specific structure for the "marvel" Table. Regarding validate all the avenger_names, please see below
sample.
DECLARE @x XML
SELECT @x=(SELECT ID ,avenger_name FROM marvel FOR XML PATH('Marvel'))
SELECT @x
SELECT
n.value('avenger_name[1]','VARCHAR(99)') avenger_name,
n.value('ID[1]','INT') ID
FROM @x.nodes('//Marvel') Tab(n)
WHERE n.value('ID[1]','INT') = 1 -- specify the ID here
--FOR XML PATH('Marvel') --uncommented this line if you want the result as element type
3)i.check the xml schema content
--find xml schema collection
SELECT ss.name,xsc.name collection_name FROM sys.xml_schema_collections xsc JOIN sys.schemas ss ON xsc.schema_id= ss.schema_id
select * from sys.schemas
--check the schema content,use the name,collection_name from the above query
SELECT xml_schema_namespace(N'name',N'collection_name')
3)ii. View can be viewed as virtual table. Use a view to list the XML schema content.
CREATE VIEW XSDContentView
AS
SELECT ss.name,xsc.name collection_name,cat.content
FROM sys.xml_schema_collections xsc JOIN sys.schemas ss ON xsc.schema_id= ss.schema_id
CROSS APPLY(
SELECT xml_schema_namespace(ss.name,xsc.name) AS content
) AS cat
WHERE xsc.name<>'sys'
GO
SELECT * FROM XSDContentView
By the way, it would be appreciated if you can spread your questions into posts. For any question, feel free to let me know.

Hi all,
Long time ago, I manually created a Database (APGriMMRP) and 3 Tables (dbo.Table_1_XYcoordinates, dbo.Table_2_Soil, and dbo.Table_3_Water) in my SQL Server 2012 Management Studio (SSMS2012). The dbo.Table_1_XYcoordinates has the following columns: file_id,
Pt_ID, X, Y, Z, sample_id, Boring. The dbo.Table_2_Soil has the following columns: Boring, sample_date, sample_id, Unit, Arsenic, Chromium, Lead. The dbo.Table_3_Water has the following columns: Boring, sample_date, sample_id, Unit, Benzene, Ethylbenzene,
Pyrene. The dbo.Table_1_XYcoordinates is a Parent Table. The dbo.Table_2_Soil and the dbo.Table_3_Water are 2 Child Tables. The sample_id is key link for the relationship between the Parent Table and the Child Tables.
Problem #1) How can I print out or export these 3 dbo Tables?
Problem #2) If I right-click on the dbo Table, I see "Start PowerShell" and click on it. I get the following error messages: Warning: Failed to load the 'SQLAS' extension: An exception occurred in SMO while trying to manage a service.
--> Failed to retrieve data for this request. --> Invalid class. Warning: Could not obtain SQL Server Service information. An attemp to connect to WMI on 'NAB-WK-02657306' failed with the following error: An exception occurred in SMO while trying
to manage a service. --> Failed to retrieve data for this request. --> Invalid class. .... PS SQLSERVER:\SQL\NAB-WK-02657306\SQLEXPRESS\Databases\APGriMMRP\Table_1_XYcoordinates> What causes this set of error messages? How can
I get this problem fixed in my PC that is an end user of the Windows 7 LAN System? Note: I don't have the regular version of Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 in my PC. I just have the Microsoft 2012 Shell (Integrated) program in my PC.
Problem #3: I plan to create an XML Schema Collection in the "APGriMMRP" database for the Parent Table and the Child Tables. How can I handle the relationship between the Parent Table and the Child Table in the XML Schema Collection?
Problem #4: I plan to extract some results/data from the Parent Table and the Child Table by using XQuery. What kind of JOIN (Left or Right JOIN) should I use in the XQuerying?
Please kindly help, answer my questions, and advise me how to resolve these 4 problems.
Thanks in advance,
Scott ChangIn the future, I would recommend you to post your questions one by one, and to the appropriate forum. Of your questions it is really only #3 that fits into this forum. (And that is the one I will not answer, because I have worked very little with XSD.)
1) Not sure what you mean with "print" or "export", but when you right-click a database, you can select Tasks from the context menu and in this submenu you find "Export data".
2) I don't know why you get that error, but any particular reason you want to run PowerShell?
4) If you have tables, you query them with SQL, not XQuery. XQuery is when you query XML documents, but left and right joins are SQL things. There are no joins in XQuery.
As for left/right join, notice that these two are equivalent:
SELECT ...
FROM a LEFT JOIN b ON a.col = b.col
SELECT ...
FROM b RIGHT JOIN a ON a.col = b.col
But please never use RIGHT JOIN - it gives me a headache!
There is nothing that says that you should use any of the other. In fact, if you are returning rows from parent and child, I would expect an inner join, unless you want to cater for parents without children.
Here is an example where you can study the different join types and how they behave:
CREATE TABLE apple (a int NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
b varchar(23) NOT NULL)
INSERT apple(a, b)
VALUES(1, 'Granny Smith'),
(2, 'Gloster'),
(4, 'Ingrid-Marie'),
(5, 'Milenga')
CREATE TABLE orange(c int NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
d varchar(23) NOT NULL)
INSERT orange(c, d)
VALUES(1, 'Agent'),
(3, 'Netherlands'),
(4, 'Revolution')
SELECT a, b, c, d
FROM apple
CROSS JOIN orange
SELECT a, b, c, d
FROM apple
INNER JOIN orange ON apple.a = orange.c
SELECT a, b, c, d
FROM apple
LEFT OUTER JOIN orange ON apple.a = orange.c
SELECT a, b, c, d
FROM apple
RIGHT OUTER JOIN orange ON apple.a = orange.c
SELECT a, b, c, d
FROM apple
FULL OUTER JOIN orange ON apple.a = orange.c
go
DROP TABLE apple, orange

[b]how can i change the column's schema which already have a schema?When a schema is registered a lot of additonal annotations are added to the XML schema by the schema registration process - Look at the version of the XML schema under /sys/schemas/... in the XML DB repository. This information is unqiue to that version of the XML schema and is used internally to manage instance level metadata.
When instance documents are stored in the DB a set of metadata is generated for each document so that we can make sure that we can maintain DOM Fidelity. This metadata is tied directly to the XML schema the document is associated and is only valid in the context of that XML Schema.
So when the schema is registered locally and instances are stored the generated metadata is only valid in the context of the local schema. If the same schema is now registered globally new values will be generated for the annotations applied to the global version of the XML schema. Consequently the metadata associated with a document belonging to the local version of the XML schema has no meaning when viewed in the context of the global version of the XML schema.
The net effect of this is that you will need to copy the data in order to get documents where the metadata for each document is based on the global version of the XML SChema. -
How to generate a XML file from a XML schema...?
Hi guys...!
I have a XML schema and I want to write a XML file based on that schema. I have heard about this feature that eclipse has, which given a XML schema, can generate a XML file for you.
Does anyone of you know about this feature? or is there another way to do it. The schema that I have is very huge...
I will really appreciate any help from you guys...
Thank...you..

XMLType column based on XML Schema: several questions
Hi,
I've a table on an oracle db version 10.1.0.4 where I stage the xml files containing orders created on a third party's system using BizTalk.
Although the storage I opted for is based on an XML Schema, defined by this third-party, I am facing big perfomance issues with files bigger than a few hundreds of kBs.
For instance, a 32Mb file takes more than 2 hours to be processed.
Now, after reading other threads in this forum and the documentation, my understanding of the problem is that the whole issue is with the correct indexing of the nested tables.
Here is my current XML Schema definition:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

When I registered the XMLSchema, the following types and tables were automatically created and you can see the hierarchy below:
(by the way, I could not find any xdb_utilities.printNestedTables mentioned elsewhere)
XML_ORDERS
|_PickData381_T
|___ProdRun382_T
|_____PickWave388_COLL
|_______PickWave383_T
|_________Customer387_COLL

These objects are then used in the following nested tables:

Note that I cancelled this operation before it was over so I imagine that these figures refer to the statistics as of the time when the operation was interrupted.
So, here are finally my questions.
In order to create the constraints on the nested tables as shown in other threads, do I need to drop the existing xml_orders table and ancillary object types and recreate them or is there a way to add such constraints using the existing system generated object names?
Secondly, the xml_orders table may contain severale documents, not just one and his current primary key is the column ID. So, in order to uniquely identify the deepest element in the xml document, I need first to select the relevant document by means of the id column.
Would it be better to create the indexes containing this id column together with the nested_table_id and array_index?
Thanks for you help.

PS: I wrote a 10 lines xsl transformation that I passed on to Saxon together with the 32Mb file. It took less than 1 minute to produce a flat file that was loaded almost instantly by SQL*Loader. So, what I am looking for is a procedure loading this stuff in less than 2 minutes or possibly less.Does the following help

XML Schema Generated By XMLSpy fails validation in JDev 10.1.3.0.4
Hi gurus,
I am trying to view an XML schema generated by XMLSpy in JDev 10.1.3.0.4 but got this error:
Error(6,74): <Line 6, Column 74>: XML-24523: (Error) Invalid value 'simpletypes\AmendmentReasonChargeType.xsd' for attribute: 'schemaLocation'
Now in the XML schema, there is this line that causes the above error:
<xs:include schemaLocation="simpletypes\AmendmentReasonChargeType.xsd"/>
The same XML schema can be opened in Visual Studio 2003 OK. Could anyone help me out here? Thank you!
BenThere is a tool tip that displays over the line that causes the error and this is what it says,
value of attribute schemaLocation not of anyURI type. The value must be of the following type:
Type Name: anyURI Primitive Type: anyURI
What does it mean?
Thanks

Problems using mathml XML Schema in XMLDB
I have successfully loaded the hierarchy of XML Schema definition documents for the current 'mathml' by adjusting the relative paths in all include and import statements, and by forcing the load to overcome cyclic dependency issues.
However when I try to create a table using the XMLTYPE or register another schema which is dependent on mathml I receive the following error:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-31079: unable to resolve reference to group "Content-expr.class"
ORA-06512: at "XDB.DBMS_XMLSCHEMA_INT", line 37
ORA-06512: at "XDB.DBMS_XMLSCHEMA", line 61
ORA-06512: at "XDB.DBMS_XMLSCHEMA", line 126
ORA-06512: at line 14
Having tried loading into both 9iR2 and 10GR2 databases and pasting the document containing the 'Content-expr.class' into the parent document (i.e. removing the include) I have come to the conclusion that there is a problem with the schema definition.
However being new to XML I do not know what ths issue is as the file containing the definition (math.xsd) is included well before the references in the parent document.
Here is the group definition corresponding to the offending reference:
<xs:group name="Content-expr.class">
<xs:choice>
<xs:group ref="ContExpr.class"/>
<xs:group ref="PresExpr.class"/>
</xs:choice>
</xs:group>
I am also unable to trace which reference is causing the problem as there are several.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing this issue, or how I can obtain further diagnostics?
Any help much appreciated.
Robert Honeyman
*********** New info ***************
OK. I have tried further to register the schema, and have the following additional information.
I determined that I thought my problem was cyclic dependencies being resolved ONLY by virtue of the parent file mathml2.xsd. I therefore pasted all the files together in include order so that this was no longer an issue. I then performed the following actions:
1. I tried to register into Oracle 9iR2 database (9.2.0.4) and received the following error:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-31151: Cyclic definition encountered for group: "Content-expr.class"
ORA-06512: at "XDB.DBMS_XMLSCHEMA_INT", line 0
ORA-06512: at "XDB.DBMS_XMLSCHEMA", line 26
ORA-06512: at "XDB.DBMS_XMLSCHEMA", line 131
ORA-06512: at line 14
2. I then tried registering the schema into an Oracle 10G Release 2 database as well, and received the following error:
ORA-31084: error while creating table "MEDLINE"."math729_TAB" for element
"math"
ORA-01792: maximum number of columns in a table or view is 1000
ORA-02310: exceeded maximum number of allowable columns in table
ORA-06512: at "XDB.DBMS_XMLSCHEMA_INT", line 37
ORA-06512: at "XDB.DBMS_XMLSCHEMA", line 61
ORA-06512: at "XDB.DBMS_XMLSCHEMA", line 126
ORA-06512: at line 14
My conclusions are as follows:
1. 9iR2 (the version I was using at least 9.2.0.4) can't handle cyclic dependencies at all, or at least not complex ones.
2. Neither 9iR2 or 10gR2 can handle cyclic dependencies (or other dependent definitions managed purely by virtue of a parent file with multiple include statements)
3. 10gR2 can handle cyclic dependencies when they are all defined in the same file or resolved by an explicit include regardless of complexity.
4. 10gR2 cannot handle highly complex XML Schema definitions due its limit of 1000 columns per table.
Does anyone have any comments on these conclusions?
I don't even want to handle Mathml, just another schema definition that imports it. I may try to make my own adjustments.

nullThanks, I found the relevant sections in the XML DB 10GR2 documentation (chapter 3 I think). As far as I can tell my options are to either use one of the following:
- top-down technique creating tables for sub elements in the schema definition
- bottom-up technique collapsing some of the lower elements into CLOBs (I guess this is semi-structured storage)
The problem with Mathml is that it seems quite complex, with only one global schema element and many nested elements, hence only one table is created by XMLDB and it logically follows that we run out of columns.
To get it to work is likely to involve a fair amount of manual schema modification, which incurs a maintenance overhead for me.
It would be good if Oracle could provide a way of simplifying this maintenance of complex schemas to get them to be registered. I guess this would be increasing the number of columns alllowed for a table or offering some other parametric option for DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.REGISTER_SCHEMA that allowed a threshold and either a top-down or bottom-up approach to be taken automatically.
For the time being I am using a simplified schema that does not depend on Mathml for my storage needs. -
Forms pulling Multiple Records from an XML Schema and XML data files - Adobe LiveCycle Designer
I built a form in Adobe LiveCycle with an xml schema and data file. The problem is with how the form renders the xml data file.
I have a statement element that consists of about 6 fields (statementID, statementName, statementAddress, statementCountry, statementZip, statementDate, etc) of data in the schema that allows for multiple iterations - so one xml data file can contain multiple statements. These fields allow for null values.
But here's the problem: When any of the statements - say statement 2 of 6 - has a null value in one of the fields, if the xml data file doesn't have a placeholder
(example of placeholder: <statementName type="String"/> )in the xml for that field, my form pulls the field value from the NEXT statement.
This corrupts all the rest of the statement records, as this field is shifted up for all the rest.
I know that in the past I haven't needed a placeholder when a field was null. But I'm wondering if when the data allows for multiple records the xml data file needs to generate the placeholder. And where is the problem? In the Schema? The xml data file? My form? And the 64-thousand-dollar question: How to fix it?If your <statement> element is the one that repeats, it should be bound to a subform with the binding string of something like $.statement[*]. Then in that subform should be your fields and they should have bindings of $.statementID, $.statementName, $.statementAddress, etc.
