XML with MTOM-Attachments for BW 7.X

Hi all,
My question is regarding loading XML with MTOM-Attachments into BW 7.X.
It is possible to load XML-Files with a push via a web service DataSource into BW 7.X. The new NetWeaver-Release 7.1 is capable of handling XML-Files with MTOM-attachments. What I do not understand is if and how the Web Service DataSource and the MTOM capabilities of NetWeaver work together.
Does the capability of NetWeaver 7.1 enable BW to handle MTOM? If it is possible to use MTOM with BW, do I need Usage Type  PI to bring MTOM attachments into BW?
I have checked several links regarding MTOM, e.g.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/76/fc9c3d9a864aef8139d70759a499fc/frameset.htm

Unfortunately I could not find an answer to my question there.
Thanks and Regards,
Felix

Thanks Tammy for the quick reply. Apologies for asking this naive question but since these are planned innovations and subject to change - this means we will not get any of the following benefits if we migrate to BW 7.4 from BW 7.02 and use BO4.1 on top of it now. Yes integrated planning is not applicable to our client.
SAP BW integrated planning
 SAP BW integrated planning and planning application kit support in Design Studio
 Planning on SAP BW unified models in SAP BW 7.4 for Analysis Office, and Design Studio
Data connectivity  (Planned Innovation)
 Direct data access to SAP BW for Lumira

  • PI 7.11 Receiver SOAP (Axis) Adapter with MTOM (Attachments)

    Hello,
Iu2019m trying to configure the Receiver SOAP (Axis) adapter for sending SOAP attachments via MTOM to a third-party webservice, but I'm not getting that PI transform the binary encode64 data in an payload element into a MTOM attachment (xop:include).
    The configuration looks like this:
    Transport Protocol: HTTP (Axis)
    SOAP Version: 1.2
    Encapsulation Format: MTOM
    Keep Attchments: enabled
    Payload Extraction: SOAP Body Child
First of all, could you confirm if this is supported?
Or Axis only supports MTOM for the transport protocol 'File (Axis)' like it seems refered in [Configuring the Receiver Axis SOAP Adapter|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/en/45/a3c48c87cd0039e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm]
Can you please provide me some guidance here?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,
I am facing the exact same issue.
I can't seem to set the cookie in the http header after following the guide.

I managed to set the SOAPAction though.
    Anyone has any ideas?

I'm puzzled, as I have disabled validation:
    DocumentBuilderFactory domFactory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    domFactory.setIgnoringComments(true);
    domFactory.setNamespaceAware(false);
    domFactory.setValidating(false);
My goal is to have the parser ignore the DOCTYPE tag and not try to find the DTD. Can someone suggest how you turn this off - apparently, setting the validation to false is not the right approach.
I'm running Java 1.4.2 on Fidora Core 5.
    Thanks for suggestions!

Create an org.xml.sax.EntityResolver and apply it to your parser. The API documentation for the interface has an example of how to write one.
And no, turning of validation doesn't turn off processing of DTDs because DTDs are for things other than validation. Entity replacement, for example.

I just installed the Lion operating system, basically to upgrade my iPhone. I didn't realize that my Microsoft Office 2004 application would no longer work. I have been using Word for my writing and I receive most of my emails with Word attachments. I have been using Apple products for years, always touting their reliability and customer service. I am not a techie, I just want to be able to do what I do on the computer and Apple always fulfilled my needs. Now I am told because of some operating system gobbledygook, I have to go out and purchase new software to use Word. This is despicable. I see no particular benefit to using Lion, but I do see a lot of detriments. Apple now seems to have turned into Microsoft, making software obsolete so they can make more money and to **** with the customer. You can be sure that my next computer will be a PC. I have completely lost confidence in Apple.

I seem to never tire of saying this. It was for Apple when they first announced 10.7 to disclose this. Yes, it was widely reported -- or rather, rumored -- but not by Apple. And many people who have gotten caught by this assumed that Apple itself would have told them beforehand about the loss of this very important feature which they had come to rely on. As far as I know, not even in fine print, does this appear anywhere on the Lion announcement or any of its links.
I am not saying Apple had to continue Rosetta in Lion, or forever, just that if it was going to be dropped, it should have been made known.
As relative "insiders" we should not forget that many people don't have the time, habit or interest to do this kind of research. I think it is a breach of trust that Apple has never directly made this announcement or given people the opportunity to decide beforehand if giving up their PPC apps for a new OS is a worthwhile tradeoff.

  • SAP PI7.31 : Mail with multiple attachments - how to process via UDF

    Hi
wondering how I can approach this problem.   I have to read an Email with any number of attachments  - it can have between 1 and 4 or maybe more of different types (CSV,XLS,PDF,ZIP).  I need to read this email and extract the attachments to a folder.
Just to let you know I have done this OK for an email that I know only has 2 attachments ! Works perfectly - just no good for ?n? attachments !
Mail Sender has AF_Modules/MultipartHeaderBean to add payload Attributes
The message is sent to 2 Receivers
Each Receiver File adapter then uses AF_Modules/DynamicConfigurationBean and AF_Modules/PayloadSwapBean
Problem is that when I do not know how many attachments there are.  So I will have to write a Java UDF mapping, perhaps using the classTransformationInput.
My question is : To create a Java UDF what should be structure of a sent Email message Type look like so I can feed that into a UDF to check what payload attachments there are etc ?.

As long as you use java mapping, you can have any dummy structures for your interfaces.
But, if you prefer to use graphical mapping with UDF, then you should have some valid structures for your mail and file interfaces. e.g., mail pack XSD for mail interface as metioned by Indrajit Sarkar
and again the same structure for the file interface as well so that you can have one to one mapping an then make use of UDF code from the article. Use payload swap bean in the receiver file channel to replace xml payload with Zipped attachments and then finally use script to unzip this zip file.

  • How to deal with SOAP attachments?

Is there any information available on how to work with SOAP attachments? I am looking
for a feature similar to what is available in other products where you can take a
byte[] and map to image/jpg, application/octet-stream, etc... and have the tool create
the appropriate message formats. How would I do this using WL Workshop? I could
not find anything in the docs... is this supported?

Easiest thing is to encode the contents of the binary object in the XML
    message as you suggest.
I'd like to hear more about what you are trying to do as well -- we're
planning on adding support for attachments in the next release, and I'd like
to make sure we do it in a way that meets your needs.

I am evaluating the capability of returning and consuming image/fileattachments through
a web service. This is one of our high priority integration requirementsand must
be available somehow through the framework we choose. Other productshave ways
to do this through an IDE... if WorkShop is not going to directly supportthis then
does anyone have any suggestions or examples on how this can be done in away that
is still intuitive for a WorkShop user (in other words without rolling upyour sleeves
and digging into JAX-RPC)? I suppose one could base64 it and add it tothe WorkShop-generated

    more standards-based approach.
Is it just me or does the lack of support for SOAP attachments seem to bea serious

Need a XML Publisher Template Builder for adobe acrobat as is available for word.

I did so.. however, publisher is not able to substitute xsl syntax by the actual value..
    eg.
i had a <?X_PO_NUM?> in word (either using text field or manually writing this..) and i converted the word doc into pdf using third party s/w..
when i uploaded this template pdf with sample data file using xmlp admin repsonsibility, and tried to preview the output,
    substitution is not happening..
the requirement here is, to have some input fields in final PDF output for which report-users should be able to type values in.
for which I assume initial template has to be in PDF itself..
any ideas or pointers will be much appreciated..

  • Dunning letter via email with invoice attachments

    Hi Experts,
We have requirement where in dunning letter should be send to customer via email along with invoice attachments.
We have copied standard script F150_DUNN_02 to custom one as per requirements and configured it in SPRO. We are using BTE 1040 to fetch the customer email address and assign it to structure c_finaa-intad.
This serves the purpose partially. The email goes to customer with dunning letter as an attachment properly.
The question here is how to send additional invoice attachments in the same mail? For example, if dunning letter contains 3 line items, then email should have 4 attachments( 1 dunning letter and 3 invoices).
Is it possible by some config steps? or please suggest me suitable approach to solve the problem.
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks
    Swati

    Hi Partha,
Here are the steps that you can follow :
    1. Using following SPRO path assign the dunning form.
Financial Accounting (New) > Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable > Business Transactions > Dunning > Printout > Assign Dunning Forms
    2. There is standard BTE (00001040) that is provided by SAP which is called when dunning is run. SAP has also provided sample function module SAMPLE_PROCESS_00001040 to indicate how to use the BTE. The FM imports I_KNA1 strutcure and pass back structure C_FINAA.
    3. Copy the standard FM to custom Z-FM and using I_KNA1-ADRNR fetch customer email address. If email is maintained, set c_finaa-nacha = 'I' and c_finaa-intad - <email>.
    4. You can also set the title of PDF file in email by setting c_itcpo-tdtitle as per requirement.
    5. Goto transaction FIBF. Settings-> Process Modules-> of SAP Application
    6. Add new entry with Process 00001040, application FI-FI and function module as custom FM created in step 3.
Above steps are enough if you want to send dunning email to customer. If there is a need to send invoices as an attachments along with email then there is a need to enhance the standard FM PRINT_DUNNING_NOTICE. I used following approach to achieve the purpose.
    a. I created another custom FM to send invoices which I am calling from PRINT_DUNNING_NOTICE. For this, I am using implicit enhancement option to modify standard code. With this option, I am able to send 2 emails back-to-back one with dunning letter and other containing all invoice attachments with respect to dunning letter.
Let me know, if you need further guidance.
    Regards,
    Swati

Adding the dependency in the ViewController fixed this for me.
I'm using two AppModules in the controller and the second one wasn't being picked up.
I was able to fix this by:
Go to the Project Properties, select Dependencies, edit the Dependent Projects and Archives, find the model that's failing and add a tick in the Build Output box.
The model should now be picked up in the ViewController's DataBindings.cpx source file, though I did have to restart JDev for this to be picked up.
