XML with OWB 11G

Hello All,
iam newbie to OWB. there is one requirement on our client site.Loading data from XML file.
Refered documents but not able to understand the logic.
Please any step by step screen shots will be most appreciated.
It is very critical.
Thanks and Regards,
S.gyazuddin.

Check out the blog post here which illustrates using some techniques for loading XML;

  • Load .csv file data with OWb Process flow using Web

    Hi,
I Have a file in my local machine( Machines on multiple user's), need to load data through Web user interface.
Let's say have a web page with multiple radio buttons respective to different sources, by clicking on each button will pass the path of .csv file to through Application, (API or Java programming interface) execute owb Process flow as a accepting file path as a input parameter to execute for loading purpose.
Should facilitate view data, Update data through web based on user requests.
Need your guidence how can i implement this with OWb 11g R2.
Assuming with Web browser functionality. Please confirm it and if yes, please throw some light how could be the steps to implement.
    Thanks

    Hi David,
    Thanks for your reply.
Undersatnd your proposed solution. But my requirement should be as follows.
    1. Currently under consideration using web page likely to be implement with Java, allowing users to load .csv file data into staging area.(Loading flat file into Data abse table)
Case 1, Assuming OWB software is not installed on user machine. I think no.
Is it possible through web page (this case Java page) to trigger java procedure/Pl/SQl procedure or integration of both to laod data into staging area.If yes, how it could effect performance of data load with 1 GB file.
Case 2, OWb client software installed on User machine, while runtime passing parameters means passing manually?
In case it is automated, how should i pass machine name & Path to owb runtime web browser.
Could you please show me guidence how should I acheive this functionality with APEX customization part?
    Thanks agin for your support.

  • Help with Understanding Workspaces in OWB 11G

    Hi
We are planning to upgrade a 10.1.0.3 repository to 10.1.0.4 via the upgrade scripts and then migrate the entire environment to a new server with an 11g database. Also we need to migrate a separate 10gr2 repository and target schemas to the same 11g database.
I have been reading the documentation and can see that the repository (OWBSYS) can be split into separate workspace owners that you can assign users to.
I have looked at the Oracle tutorial for OWB 11g and can see it asks for a Workspace Owner User Name and also a Workspace Name. What is the difference between these? If you have multiple Workspaces do these appear as separate schemas on the database and, if so, do these have the Workspace Owner User Name or the Workspace Name?
In our 10.1.0.3 database we have a design repository A, and a separate runtime repository with a runtime owner and runtime user schema.
In the 10GR2 database we have a design repository B (containing design and runtime metadata).
I am thinking of creating one 11G Workspace for the 10.1.0.3 repository data and another workspace for the 10GR2 data. However, would the workspace owner user names need to be the same i.e.'A' and 'B'?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    GB

This is what I've learned so far:
You're repository will always be on the OWBSYS schema. So if you have 2 repositories and plan do put them both on the same database then you'll end up with 1 repository with 2 workspaces.
All the metadata is stored on the OWBSYS schema.
The workspace owner will be the user with most privileges on that workspace and can have a different name of the workspace.
You can add more users (besides the workspace owner) to any of the workspaces.
hope it helps... and please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Things to do with OWB if i clone my DB 11g

    dear all.
im really worried because in less that 12 hours i must to migrate or cloned my 11.1.06 db. the clone procedure is not a problem. The host, ports, sid and service will be the same because i will cloned in another server.
    the problem is,
1.- what should i do after this operation with OWB environment? i mean, this database use for datamart operations and this have owbsys user unlock and objects like workspaces, projects ....
...but if i have the same parameters and names (hostname, ports, initora, tnsnames, etc) i must to do something with workspaces or workspaces users?
I saw How To Update Warehouse Builder After A Database Cloning [ID 434272.1] but this not applied because i have the same parameters.
    The next question is:
    i forgot my owbsys password from this database, and i want to change. should i do only with: ALTER USER OWBSYS IDENTIFIED BY xxxxx;
two dasys ago i posted but only one person answer me: Re: change owbsys password in 11g
    thanks for answers two questions.

The first issue I recommend you address is posting to the correct gruop.

  • Problem with tutorial; "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using "

I've got a rather new installation of Vista Business x64 on my developer rig, and last week I installed the new JDeveloper 11g version. The installation was all-inclusive, no customization on my end.
In addition I've got a test installation of an Oracle DB 11gR1 on an available server here.
To familiarize myself with the new JDeveloper I decided to spend some time with the JDeveloper 11g tutorials found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/index.html.
I've started twice on the second tutorial, "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces", and find myself repeatedly stuck at step 19 in section "Creating the Data Model and Testing it".
It seems impossible to deploy the application to the default application server. The server starts fine on its own, I can access it via the admin console on port 7001 and it looks good. However, when I try to run the HRFacadeBean funny things are happening, symptomized by the following error messages seen in the IDE log-area:
    The "Messages" pane displays:

I'm not that familiar with these things but it seems to me that there is an issue with port numbers here. The application seems to expect a app.server service at port 7101, but does'nt find one.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be appreciated?

    Jupp,
It fails in a similar way.
What I did was; create a simle 'Hello World' html file, saving it with the jsp extension. In Jdev11g i made a new application and an emtpy project, then loaded the jsp file and made it the default run-target. This compiles nicely.
When running the project it first attempts to start the WebLogicServer (WLS). After a few minutes it is started as seen in the "Running: DefaultServer" pane:

    DefaultServer startup time: 121552 ms.
    DefaultServer started.
In the "Messages" pane, however, things are not looking so good:
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr
[7:20:49 PM] Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings.
[Application TestAppJsp is bound to Server Instance DefaultServer]
    [Starting Server Instance DefaultServer]
    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
But, of course, the server is actually running as I can access it via its Admin Console.
So, I try to run the project again, and this time the following is shown in the "Messages" pane:
    Compiling...
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr
[7:26:39 PM] Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings.
[Application TestAppJsp is bound to Server Instance DefaultServer]
    [Starting Server Instance DefaultServer]
    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
The "Running: DefaultServer" now comes up with:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
[waiting for the server to complete its initialization...]
[Server Instance DefaultServer is shutting down.  All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]
    Process exited.
The WLS is still running though as I can still access its adm console.
To me it seems that it is attempting to start a separate instance of the WLS for each run attempt, but then I could be wrong.....:(
Later I'll try to change the default WLS port from 7001 to 7101 as suggested in another port here.
I must admit that I'm a bit surprised that the JDev11g doesn't work fine at this very simple level when performing a default install.

  • Error VLD-1108 while validating the mapping in owb 11g

    Hi All,
I am using owb 11.1.0.7.0. I am new to owb 11g. I am getting the following error while validating the mapping
error: VLD-1108 . Operator requires more input or output connections in order to generate mapping code.
I am using a function as operator and mapping it with the table.
Please tell me the solution for this. Its urgent
    Thanks in advance,
    Siva

    Hi,
u must be using a procedure or table function that is called in the mapping for execution. When writing the function u would have specified 3 inputs but in the mapping u would have given only 2. check the number of inputs and make sure they match.

  • HOW TO INSTALL ODI 11g / OWB 11g  IN WINDOWS SERVER 2008 R2 (64 BITS)

    Hi everybody,
    I have a serious problem.
Last week we buy a new server with Windows Server 2008 Std. R2 x64, for a new project. I tried to install the RDBMS Oracle 11g R2 (x64) without problems, but when i try execute the "Design Center" contents in OWB, show me the error: 0xc0000018
Then, I´m thinking in install Oracle Data Integrator to solution it, but i`ve read that neither can install on 64 bits system... This is true?
Somebdoy knows how can I install OWB 11g / ODI 11g in a Windows 2008 Server 64 bits?
    Thanks & Regards!

OWB 11G Will have been installed with the database, it now ships with 11G.
Check you are on a supported platform for design centre using the certification matrix.
Quick google search for you regards 0xc0000018 :

  • Setting END_DATE in OWB 11g R1/R2 SCD type 2

    Hi
I have this issue which needs an immediate solution. The SCD2 design in OWB 11g R1/R2 works well except that it does not allow a programmer to populate the value of END_DATE with a field from source.
I observed that one can set the value of end_date in the dimension properties (via inspector) for initial records/open records.
    a. default effective time of initial record and
    b. default effective time of open record
My question is for the above two properties being set on the SCD History logging properties on target level in mappings, can we set them to a particular date field coming in from the source?
The only work around I found was to have a function which returns me a particular value from the source which can be called within the properties of these two fields, but other than that, we cannot directly populate the END_DATE field as it is a derived field within the SCD2 logic generated in the background.
Please if you could answer this it would be great

    Hi Oleg
I want the STA_FROM to drive my DIM_TO as well
So I may have sets of records say
    Business/Natural key : Account number
    Triggering column: Name
Suppose I load all of this today
    Account_number STA_FROM Name
    1001 01-aug-2010 Dummy1
    1001 03-aug-2010 Dummy2
    1001 05-aug-2010 Dummy3
    1001 07-aug-2010 Dummy4
    1002 01-sept-2010 Dummy_1
    Hence Dimension data will be
    Account_key Account_number EFFECTIVE_DATE END_DATE Name
    1 1001 01-aug-2010 03-aug-2010 Dummy1
    2 1001 03-aug-2010 05-aug-2010 Dummy2
    3 1001 05-aug-2010 07-aug-2010 Dummy3
    4 1001 07-aug-2010 31-dec-9999 Dummy4
    5 1002 01-aug-2010 31-dec-9999 Dummy_1
If you notice, I am driving both Effective and end date by the STA_FROM
I have already achieved this in the hard coded SCD logic by using Lead function to derive my end dates for "force-closing" records.
But the SCD wizard does not allow us to drive the value of end date based on a field coming from the source. Now in my case, the STA_FROM can also be value of an input load date parameter in some cases.
It would have been nice to allow population of END_DATE on target dimension operator instead of giving only the option of setting it in the operator properties.
    Hope its much clearer now

  • Receiving OCI/ORA-27163 when querying XML data in 11g.

When querying a table with a column stored in XML format, we get this error for large XML values. This works in Oracle 10g but this error happens when the same data is queried in an 11.2.0.3 instance. I have had a support request open with Oracle for about a month and so far it has not made any progress. What we've seen are the following:
    1. The xml data itself is good.
    2. The good xml data when queried with a wholly 10g client/server environment, works.
    3. The same good xml data when inserted into a table in an 11g instance through a stored package run from the 11g instance (server to server) gets the 27163 error.
    4. The same xml data when queried in a 10g instance from an 11g client fails with the 27163 error.
    5. If we disable the 11g XML parser by setting an internal event (alter session set events='31156 trace name context forever, level 0x400';), then run the same code that was run in item 3 above, it does not get the 27163 error. However, the xml loaded to the 11g instance can then only be queried without getting the 27163 error if we use an older 10g client. An 11g client consistently gets the error.
The server versions are 11.2.0.3 (upgraded from 10.2.0.4). The SQL*Net client versions that we have tested on are 11.2.0.2 and 11.2.0.3 (both produce the 27163 error).
With considerable trial and error, we found that it is some combination of the file size and format that causes the error. Copied below is the smallest sample data of a failing XML that will produce this erro (about 8K). Remove any single character even in an a comment and the file parses successfully – but it’s not the file size alone as the original 800+KB file where we first dicovered this problem will process if the period in the attribute: @value=”${item.id}” is removed.
We are at our wit's end, and with an 11g migration project looming, any ideas anyone can suggest would be very helpful.
    Thanks,
    Joe
Here is a test case to play around with. Sorry I don't have a way to upload a zip file for this, but you can cut & paste from the post:
    1. CREATE TABLE my_xml_test
    (record_id NUMBER(4,0),
    xml SYS.XMLTYPE,
    comments VARCHAR2(200))
    ALTER TABLE my_xml_test
ADD CONSTRAINT my_xml_test_pk PRIMARY KEY (record_id)
    USING INDEX
    2. mkdir SampleData
    3. cd into SampleData, copy the XML I will post in the first reply to this message into a new text document called xml_items_removed.xml.
    4. cd .. and create a file called 20120112_11g_bad_xml_issue.txt with this in it:
1, .\SampleData\xml_items_removed.xml,"Fails: OriginalXML w/ all instances of <Item> removed (count 600) -- reduces file size to ca. 55KB but still fails (Saved by XMLSpy)"
    5. Next create your SQL*Loader control file (call it my_xml_test.ctl):
    LOAD DATA
    APPEND INTO TABLE my_xml_test
FIELDS TERMINATED BY "," OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
    TRAILING NULLCOLS
    record_id,
    ext_fname FILLER CHAR(200),
    xml LOBFILE(ext_fname) TERMINATED BY EOF,
    comments
    6. sqlldr <username>/<password>@<database> control=my_xml_test.ctl data=20120112_11g_bad_xml_issue.txt log=20120112_11g_bad_xml_issue.log bad=20120112_11g_bad_xml_issue.bad
    7. Once the data is loaded, query my_xml_test table that you created in step 1. You should get the 27163 error:
    SELECT a.record_id,
    comments,
    a.XML,
    length(a.XML.GetClobVal()) clob_length
    FROM my_xml_test a

  • Missing objects when created a OWB 11g owner/user

h4. i created a new owb owner and user using repository, but apparently no objects (tables, views, synonyms, function and etc) has been "imported" or copy from OWBSYS to the owner.
h4. - Creation of OWNER is successful using repository
    h4. - Adding a USERS is successful
h4. how can i copy or create a new OWB owner that has a objects that is same with OWBSYS? help please im new with 11g
    h4. version: 11.2.0.1.0

    Hi,
Starting from OWB 11g all the metadata and audit information will be owned by OWBSYS user unlike OWB10g where in the metadata and audit information
used to be created under respective repository owner.
There will be only one OWB repository schema (i.e OWBSYS)per database
Initially there won't be any objects under OWBSYS. Once you create a new workspace then all the objects will be created under OWBSYS.
And the new owner will not have any objects, all the objects will be owned by OWBSYS.
The workspace owner user is used to adminster the workspace and users.
This is correct behaviour. No need bother about this. So no need to import any objects under this database user.
The objects i referred previously are OWB design objects like mappings, transformations, modules, projects.
If you want to import/create the OWB design objects you have to connect to the OWB design center and import the objects using MDL utility or create new objects.
The metadata about these design objects will be stored in the tables owned by OWBSYS.

    Pnreddy

  • OWB 11g Problem in running Process flow

I’ve build a process flow as described in “Getting Started with Oracle Warehouse Builder 11g”. But if I run the process flow I get a warning message “You have to deploy this object before running” followed by the error RTC-5170: The selected objects do not require deployment as they are all up to date in the Control Center.
Therefore I’m not able to run the process flow. What’s wrong? It looks so easy in Getting Started but it doesn’t work.
I’ve found two threads regarding this error from last year in this forum. But there is no solution for OWB 11g.
Has anyone an advice for me?

I've successfully installed OWF as described in Installation guide (all components are on the sam server).
But when I deploy a workflow in OWB I get some errors. In the job details
I find ORA-00942 and RPE-02053. It seems that the workflow repository is missing.
Are there additional steps for creating a workflow repository?
Or what is wrong? All installation logs (wf.log and workflow.log) are without errors and with success messages.
    Any idea?

Applications that you build with JDeveloper 11g are normally aimed at WebLogic 10.3 servers.
They require Java EE 1.5 and JDK 6.

  • XML in OWB

When trying to use the XML functions in OWB, we are immediately getting an error:
    class is missing 'oracle.wh.runtime.xml.PLSQLAdapter'
How do I install this class, is it something that comes with OWB or with XML Toolkit or with..?

Can you please give me more details on this? In particular, the OWB version and the exact operation you are trying to perform.

  • Dynamic flat file loading in OWB 11g

    Hi,
I'm working on owb 11g, i need to load multiple files into tables having the same file name where only the date and file sequence number changes. The files are of format:
    FileA_2009_1
    FileA_2009_2
    FileA_2009_3,etc....
How can i dynamically change the files and load to one table. Can this be achieved through external tables or sql* loader? Is there any such new feature in OWB 11g?
    Rgds
    Rex

    Hi
SQLLoader mappings have the data filename as an optional input parameter (a fully qualified name can be passed). So you could have a loop to get the names and call the mapping. If it was External table you'd have to do an alter table to set the data file. If the filenames are static you can configure the ext table and mapping with the names.
    Cheers
