XMLP Enterprise Reports

Hi Tim,
We haven't upgraded to Enterprise Publisher yet, still on 5.0, we have some standard reports, Fixed Asset Additions and Retirement reports that need to have data pulled from additional columns, in the example on OTN for building a report, it shows going to the Data Model, does this have to be done each time to add to a report? We are trying to identify our user base for creating and manipulating existing reports. Just wondering what scale of difficulty without being able to play yet.

Sorry I branched your update to a new thread otherewise its going to get lost.
So I assume you are talking about the Enterprise release, this runs outside of the EBS but can run against it. you can build reports using it but they can not be deployed to the concurrent manager its a completely separate reporting solution>
if you want to build new extracts in ebs i would take a look at the data templates in the user guide< they are integrated into the conc manager and template manager
they offer everyting oracle reports offers and more and run alot faster>

Getting Error while running Report on Enterprise Report console

Hi all,
I am using Report builder 6i, I have developed one report and configued it on Enterprise Reporting tool but when tried to run it through Enterprise Reporting Console I got the following error
REP-0177: Error while running in remote serverREP-0736: There exist uncompiled program unit(s).REP-1247: Report contains uncompiled PL/SQL. FAIL 1
although the report is running fine through the report builder.
any thoughts?

Enterprise report TEMPLATE=0REPORT_DEFAULT_TEMPL does not exist

Hi guys ,
I have actvated the above mentioned template in business content but when i performed a check in RS_TEMPLATE_MAINTAIN_70 , iam getting the followiong error.

Connection Error in Enterprise Reporting Web

When using Distributed Retrieve with Enterprise Reporting Web we are receiving the following HsComUI error:
Unable to connect to server:
Access to the server was denied
Code 80040308
If the user clicks OK and tries to access again it will be successful after 5 or 6 attemtps and the error will not return unless they reboot the machine.
The fixes suggested in the knowledge base have not assisted. Has anyone else got any ideas?

Hyperion Enterprise Reporting Error

I'm new to Hyperion Enterprise and Hypeion Enterprise Reporting. While exploring the reporting portion of it in Hyperion Enterprise reporting" I unintentionally made some setting change which has resulted in period dimension in POV showing *error*. Rest of the dimensions are displaying properly but this has resulted in reports not displaying anything. Can anyone guide me on how to undo this. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Jay,
This is basically due to a Proper Frequency is not set in the POV.
And easy way would be to log in to Enterprise and click on Reports module and open the report and check if you are able to view the data.
If so make a note of the POV and making a note of the POV should be done in the Enterprise Reports module, the reason why is when you open the POV in the Enterprise reports module it would open the POV the similar way it opens in the Hyperion Enterprise reporting.
Make a note and write it down exactly as it is being displayed in the Enterprise > Reports module POV.

Formula Field incorrectly rounded when run on Enterprise Reports, OK in report

We have a report in Crystal Reports 9. There is a forumla field that has a custom formatting applied to display 2 decimal places. It works fine when opening the report and running it. However, when it's uploaded to the enterprise reports server (also version 9) and run from there, it rounds the numbers to have no decimal places. Any idea what could be going on here?

- Try setting the Formviewer Zoom to page width and resizing the window, at some point the "n" from "dürfen" and the the dot at the end of the sentence should disappear:
- Shots from the full Report (here "Stundensatz" becomes "Stundens", "von" disappears completely: the second sentence is OK ) - this shows up without manipulating the zoom:

- When I export the Report ( does not matter if rpt or PDF, from the viewer or directly ) the error does not show up.
- The Problem with the "no printer" option (in my case) was it took a long time with it disabled, not enabled.

Syntax for Parameters in XMLP Enterprise

I am learning to use XMLP to report on my database. No Oracle Applications related.
I want to create a query and parameters, and put those parameters in the where clause of the query.
The parameters should look like ID_WAREHOUSE_P, ID_PRODUCT_P
The query should look like
SELECT ID_WAREHOUSE, ID_PRODUCT, QUANTITY, DATE_RECEIVED, ETC FROM RECEITPS WHERE ID_WAREHOUSE = ID_WAREHOUSE_P AND ID_PRODUCT = ID_PRODUCT_P
I have tried these
WHERE ID_WAREHOUSE = $ID_WAREHOUSE_P
WHERE ID_WAREHOUSE = '$ID_WAREHOUSE_P'
WHERE ID_WAREHOUSE = "$ID_WAREHOUSE_P"
WHERE ID_WAREHOUSE = :ID_WAREHOUSE_P
WHERE ID_WAREHOUSE = ':ID_WAREHOUSE_P'
I have also set a field like this in the RTF template:
<?param@begin:id_warehouse_p;01?>
And nothing seems to work. I just get errors.
ID_WAREHOUSE AND ID_PRODUCT are VARCHAR2(2)
Any clue will be appreciated.

You need to specify the parameters aswell in XML Publisher then you can use the :parameter_name where parameter_name is the name of your parameter.

Hyperion Enterprise Reporting

My Hyperion Salesperson tells me Hyperion Enterprise Reporting in no longer supported for Essbase, but that conflicts with reports I am getting from Hyperion Support that they are releasing upgrades to go with Essbase 6.2 and 6.5. Does anyone know what the story is on this? I know they are pushing Hyperion Reports, but I'm not sure if they have sold a lot of licenses for this. We don't have the time right now to upgrade all of our Hyperion Enterprise Reporting reports anyway. Crystal Reports seems to be the front-end tool referenced in Hyperion classes. Is anyone using this front-end and how do you like it?

We are using HER 3.7 with Essbase 6.2.1 with no issues

is there any way to migrate Hyperion Enterprise Reports to Financial reports v9?
Right now i am manually building it and i have a bunch of them to build.?
Any suggestions on easy migrations.?

If you are referring to Hyperion Enterprise Reporting, the answer is no. The reports need to be rebuilt in Hyperion Reports

Does anyone know Hyperion Enterprise Reporting 6.4.1.1? This was installed before i got to my current location. When I try to start it I get an error "repeng32.dll" error.

Sounds like an issue with the current installation. May need to uninstall/reinstall. Hyperion Enterprise Reporting has a seperate installer than that for just Hyperion Enterprise so it's possible that the reporting component isn't even installed.

Enterprise Reporting 3.9 on Essbase

Has anyone tried to use Enterprise Reporting 3.9 with Essbase? It's asking for a location of the report files in the install. Do I have to export all of my Hyperion Reports 1.7 reports so it can reference them as files? We wanted to use this as an interim solution while we upgrade to Hyperion Reports 2.6.

Hyperion Reports and Hyperion Enterprise Reporting are different products. It sounds like you want to use Hyperion Reports 1.7 reports with Enterprise Reporting 3.9. This will not work.My opinion...the resources to install/configure Enterprise Reporting 3.9 would be better spent on upgrading to Reports 2.6.Are you having an issue with the upgrade?

1 XMLP Enterprise instance, multiple environments (databases) - Datasources

We are trying out XML Publisher Enterprise 5.6.2 (stand-alone) in an OracleAS 10.1.2.0.2 environment (OC4J).
In our "pre-Production" environment we have four separate instances.
(instance -in this case- means combination of DB instance + front-end apps deployed in OracleAS OC4J)
Our aim is to have an XMLP server (OC4J) per major environment, i.e. DEV, pre-PROD and PROD.
The XMLP reports will mostly be run via URL from a bespoke application.
The problem is that the data source (either data source defined in XMLP or JNDI data source defined in container) is specified in the XMLP Report. Notably as the "Default Data Source".
We cannot find a way of dynamically (runtime) specifying the data source to be used or to override the "Default Data Source".
(this is the data source as a connection definition to a schema in a database)
We need to achieve this in order to avoid having to have an XMLP server per instance, where our goal is to only have an XMLP server per environment.
Can anybody please help us on how to dynamically specify (override) the data source used by the XMLP report?

Understood that by setting up the appropriate data sources one can point to many databases from on XMLP.
Our situation is that our SDLC prescribes that (in the case of reports):
- the report be developed and unit tested in Dev.
(In Dev we plan to have one XMLP that developers can use at will)
- once unit tested the report shall be deployed to pre-PROD environment, system test instance
(DB=bugfix, OC4J for bespoke app=bugfix_fe, OC4J for XMLP=xmlpub)
- once system tested the report shall be deployed to final UAT and sign-off
(DB=final, OC4J for bespoke app=final_fe, OC4J for XMLP=xmlpub)
- once signed off, deployed into PROD
The 'movement' of the report from Dev to Bugfix to Final to Prod should all happen without again editing the report. Thus, if Developer created report with default data source being 'opsi' and this points to e.g. the opsi schema in dev db, this presents the issue that there can only be one data source named 'opsi' in the pre-PROD XMLP.
Thus we would like to find a way of overriding that 'opsi', e.g. with 'opsi_bug' and then with 'opsi_fin' so that the respective data source can then point to the opsi schema in bugfix and final databases respectively.
I trust this clarifies the matter some.

How to group data from SQL queries in XMLP Enterprise Edition

I have installed XMLP EE on a windows machine. I tried creating the data set with the type as SQL Query. In my case I have just joined the EMP and DEPT tables from the SCOTT schema:
select EMP.EMPNO as EMPNO,
 EMP.ENAME as ENAME,
 EMP.JOB as JOB,
 DEPT.DNAME as DNAME,
 EMP.DEPTNO as DEPTNO
from SCOTT.EMP EMP,
 SCOTT.DEPT DEPT
where DEPT.DEPTNO=EMP.DEPTNO
and DEPT.DNAME = nvl(:DeptName,DEPT.DNAME )
I want that the data should be displayed in my report so that for each value of DNAME all the details (EMP.EMPNO, EMP.ENAME, EMP.JOB ) should be displayed as in master detail format in my XML output, so that it is easier to build the template using the <?for-each?> tags.
Can anyone suggest how I can do this?
I am facing another error :

On the error, have you tried running the report to generate data only ? If that is failing then you have an issue with your query or connection
On the grouping, hopefully you have the Template Builder installed. That can help you build the grouping you want in the output. For this report and to get you started check out the Table Wizard. There is a screen in that flow allowing you to specify Grouping criteria.
