XMLReader throws NullPointerException
have developed a CSV to XML parser using a JAXP with SAX Events to parse the CSV file into a DOM tree.
Well inside the parse() method I have the following code":

Problem is that whenever the app gets to the ch.startDocument() statement it throws an java.lang.NullPointerExecption. I have no idea why this is happening, I have tested the very same code with Xalan 2 and Xercer 2 parsers and it works without problems. But using the oracle xml parser v2 throws the Exception.
Is this a bug? should I set tome of the Transformer's attributes to an specifica value to avoid this? Where could I find more info on processing SAX events?

Private Room throws NullPointerException
Hi,
I have created a private room and it was sucessfull. i am able to see the room without any problem. but when others(non-members) go to their rooms directory, it throws NullPointerException. This problem is only for private rooms only.
we are using SP 17

If u goes to room directory in collaboration, there is a tab called Restricted Rooms. End of the room name there is context menu if u click that, it will show the menu there you can see the option called Request Membership. If you click that, corresponding room owner will receive the mail if he/she enabled the mail properties.

I am trying to create a java standard edition client, to test outside the weblogic server, my ejb 3 entities, declared as shown in the following persistence.xml.
The java code follows also. I have read about some relevant bugs in eclipselink back in 2006, or 7 or 8 and mostly unanswered threads :
CreateEntityManagerFactory null pointer exception and
Returned null to createEntityManagerFactory about tomcat and oc4j.

The client now works correctly. It seems that the line
em = emf.createEntityManager(emProps);//
throws an exception when no argument is given for em = emf.createEntityManager();// emProps missing!

Why XMLReader.parse() throws NullPointerException ? [ sax xerces ]
Hi, I have a thread that get xml text from a document and parse it. When i type *<?xml* or i delete *<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?>* until *<?xml version="1.0 >* i get this Nullexception:

ThanksI can't understand what typing or deleting has to do with anything; the parser is parsing a document, isn't it? Unless it's parsing from System.in and you're typing the document into the console, which doesn't seem likely based on what you posted.
However this

isn't a well-formed prolog. There's a missing closing quote on the version attribute. I still wouldn't have expected a NPE, but then you haven't posted much of an example. There's some unformatted code (try posting it inside {code} tags to make it readable) and you don't show an example of a document which causes the exception. Just some stuff about typing and deleting. -
SAX Parser throws NullPointerException

I'm using WLS6.1 SP1 built-in XML SAX parser. The code is like,

[header.xml]SAX should mask the fact that some content is specified inside of a CDATA section.. It is just characters.
The safest way to process characters is to setup a StringBuffer or equivalent in the startElement method. There is a variation of the StringBuffer append method that has the same three parameters (char[], int, int) as the characters signature. The characters method may be called many times before you are given all of the content of the string. How it decides when to call you depends on the parser and is subject to change over time. But, if you accumulate the contents in each call of characters and do the toString() in the endElement method you are going to get the right content. Lots of people over the last year or so that I've been involved in this forum have had other ways they thought were better than this, but most of them have eventually tried and accepted this way because it works and their "better" way did not.
It looks like you got the content for the CDATA section (Please refer...).I'm not sure what your problem is.

Weblogic throws NullPointerException when using ServiceControl.setTimeout
We are invoking a SOAP service via a com.bea.control.ServiceControl that was generated from a WSDL (right click WSDL, Generate Service Control) using Weblogic 8.1.6.
SOAP service execution is successful using an http and https endpoint. However, when setting a timeout via ServiceControl.setTimeout(int millisecods) method, the Weblogic API is throwing a NullPointerException when using an https endpoint. When using an http endpoint with the setTimeout method execution is successful.

XMLReader throws "Invalid UTF8 encoding." - Need parser for ISO-8859-1 chrs

We are facing an issue when we try to send data which is encoded in "ISO-8859-1" charset (german chars) via the EMDClient (agent), which tries to parse it using the oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParser . The parser, while trying to read it, is unable to determine the charset encoding of our data and assumes that the encoding is "UTF-8", and when it tries to read it, throws the :
"java.io.UTFDataFormatException: Invalid UTF8 encoding." exception.
I looked at the XMLReader's code and found that it tries to read the first 4 bytes (Byte Order Mark - BOM) to determine the encoding. It is probably expecting us to send the data where the first line is probably:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso88591" ?>
But, the data that our application sends is typically as below:

How do we ensure that the parser identifies the encoding properly and instantiates the correct parser for "ISO-8859-1"...
Should we just add the line <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso88591" ?> at the beginning of our data?
We have tried constructing the inputstream (ByteArrayInputStream) by using String.getBytes("ISO-8859-1") and passing that to the parser, but that does not seem to work.
Please suggest.

Your message is not XML. I believe that the XMLParser is going to have problems with that as well. Perhaps you could wrap the message in an XML tag set and begin the document as you suggested with <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso88591"?>.
You are correct in that the parser uses only the first 4 bytes to detect the encoding of the document. It can only determine if the document in ASCII or EPCDIC based. If it is ASCII it can detect only between UTF-8 and UTF-16. It will need the encoding attribute to recognize the ISO-8859-1 encoding.

In some cases we have an af:inputListOfValues without any values, due to restrictions in the query. Unfortunately, a NullPointerException is thrown in this case. Actually, we are using JDev 11.1.1.5.
Is there any solution or workaround to allow empty af:inputListOfValues?

Edit locally throws NullPointerException
Hi All,
While doing EditLocally in a Custom Repository Manager,it throws a null pointer Exception.
As per the Repository Manager Implementation
log ,we dont any exception. So as there is no such relevent error realted to repository manager in default.trc file.
RF doesnt pass call to setContent() method of ContentManager.
We failed to do so in Nw04 SPS11 and Nw04 SPS14.
Where as we can able to edit successfully in NW04 SPS09.

HttpConnection throws NullPointerException

I'm faceing an odd problem here. I have developed an J2ME (MIDP1.0) application that, among other things, needs to comunicate with my server. The application woks fine on the emulator, it even works great on my phone (Nokia 2650) and on my partners phone (Nokia 6610), but when tested on other phones (SonyErricson, Sagem, Motorola, even an smartphone from Nokia, a 7610 i think) it throws a NullPointerException. I solved this problem.
There is nothing wrong with the device but the connection that we use.
Our service provider does not provide the pure HTTP connection rather it goes over WAP and thats where the problem comes.
Cause we attach our header for the server and WAP sticks his header in between , thats why server does not handle the request and consider it as bad request.
I have commented the following lines for my code to work

System.getProperty("microedition.profiles"));
connection.setRequestProperty("Content-Type",
"application/octet-stream");

MTOM throws NullPointerException
Hello,
I need to transfer large files (12Mb) of diferent types (.pdf, .jpg, .doc, etc). I changed the return type to DataHandler and tried to enable MTOM in my webservice, but when I enabled it, after the method is executed, system throws a NullPointerException.
I'm enabling MTOM with the annotation @MTOM, and if I just take off this annotation the webservice works correctly.
Do you know of any problem using MTOM with Java 1.6.0_10? Do you have a suggestion of a better way to transfer it?

TaskManagerQueryService / TaskSearchFilter throws NullPointerException
I am trying to run a task search using the TaskManagerQueryService and a TaskSearchFilter. I'm looking for active tasks assigned to groups that a user belongs to. Whenever I include the Conditions with the Connectives shown below, the query service throws a null pointer exception as shown in the stacktrace below. What I'm trying to do with the Connectives is effectively create the equivalent of
if (Correct status code && (in group 1 || in group 2 ... ) {return the task}
Anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong?

Completed: testGetAllTasksForSpecificProcessAsBeansIt appears as though I have stumbled on the answer to my own question. In the task filter, I should be using TaskSearchingConstants.pCURRENT_ASSIGNMENT_QUEUE_OWNER instead of TaskSearchingConstants.pASSIGNMENT_QUEUE_OWNER.

ImapFolder.getAttributes() throws NullPointerException
When we call ImapFolder.getAttributes() we sometimes get NullPointerException. We we dig in the source code of javamail and we saw that it will be possibly a bug ;
Here is code block of getAttributes method:

after calling exists() method our attributes attribute is null and when it is called "attributes.clone()" it causes NullPointerException.The exists() method will fail to fill in attributes only if the LIST command
returns no information about the folder, which should only happen if the
folder doesn't exist. I'd love to see a protocol trace from your server
showing the response to the LIST command. What server are you using?
How are you sure that the folder exists? Is it a folder that always exists?
Is the folder never removed and recreated? Is getAttributes being called
on an open folder?
Again, I agree that getAttributes should detect this case, but when it detects this case
it would would throw a FolderNotFoundException rather than a NullPointerException.
On some servers it may be possible for the folder to be open (and thus "exist"),
but have been removed, so that LIST shows no evidence of the folder. In this case
getAttributes should return an empty String array.
But again, I'd still like to know what conditions are causing this problem for you,
to make sure I fix all the possible cases correctly.
