Xmod AC adap

I already own a 30gb Zen Extra. I hope that the AC adapter for it is compatible with my Xmod that will be shipped to me very soon. I would appreciate a definiti've answer to my query from a Creative moderator. Thanks in advance!

Well, my xmod came today. Now I know that I need a very specific type of AC adapter to use this as a stand alone with an MP3 player and a set of powered speakers. Nice ones that I own. While trying this new property of mine out for the first time with my PC I find out new and unexpected things. I find that using the USB as the power source connected to a port on my PC, I cannot use my MP3 player as a source. I can use my PC and the player on it playing an MP3 file. My PC has a very good Creative soundcard already. I bought this for a stand-alone use with a powered speaker and MP3 set-up. When I use the PC configuration with the earbuds that come with it, it sounds interesting. When I use the same configuration but with my Shure EC2 earphones(far, far superior in every parameter to the Creative earbuds) the sound is far better without the "effects" by that I mean the "3-D" and "crystalizer". I hope I can make this not just a total waste of $80+. I will hope there is a better sound, as I expect when I get an AC adapter for more $$ and use my 30gb Zen Extra or 30gb Ipod and my Klipsch 2.0 powered speakers. So far Creative has really let me down including this waste of webspace. What a drag. I work very hard for what little $$ worth I get. This may well be my last Creative purchase.

  • Xmod Issues & lack of support

!Xmod Issues & lack of support? After trading FOUR emails with Creative Tech Support to find out why my USB powered Altec Lansing speakers do not work with my Xmod, and asking for possible solutions (the only one being I have to buy ANOTHER pair of non-USB powered speakers), I finally received this reply...
"Thank you for replying to Creative Technical Support.
With regards to your inquiry, you do not need a power adapter for the
Xmod cause it is only USB powered. Meanwhile, you can connect your Xmod
    to a powered speaker system.
If you still require assistance, please reply to this email with any
previous correspondence to ensure the quickest and most accurate
    service."
Wow, not only can they NOT answer my question, but they don't even know their own product!? If it is ONLY USB POWERED, then why are so many people complaining in the forum about having to buy yet another $40 a/c adapter to meet their needs. I keep reading over and over about not using the forum for tech support issues, and instead,?that you should direct specific tech support issues to the Support re
    ps.
    Good luck on THAT one!

    Hear, hear...
Since I don't see the Xmod anywhere on Creative's product list, well, should I...conclude it's now an orphan?
Consider also this response when I got desperate enough to actually try the 'knowledgebase': "There are currently no Knowledgebase Solutions for?Xmod Wireless" - how can I not conclude that there simply IS no meaningful tech supportI mean...REALLYNothingIndeed, it does seem like an orphan - but if there ever was any online documentation worthy of this engineering effort, why would it have been removed?
Mine came with LOTS of plastic bags and unnecessary packaging, but as far as paperwork goes, was conspicuously lacking in anything other than a barebones "quickstart"-type guide: ?just one folded sheet in each box (trans & receiver), with half of even that tiny amount of info devoted to languages other than English. ?Assembly was self-explanatory and simple - but that's all these silly little guides cover! ?Use of most features was absolutely baffling - it's like I am missing some software that should have come with it, but didn't, and there's no mention of it in the scant guides I have. ?Remotes have buttons for features like "menu," "display," etc but even with the USB connection in place and the device recognized, there doesn't seem to be any downloading of software that would make such features functional. ?It'll play my music from my player software, but there sure isn't any other usable remote or even wired control - other than the power button.
Update: ?OK, there's a little more info available... but that's only if you find the pdf on the Creative website (and your pdf software is working...which mine wasn't) but still, I emphasize, it's only scant info. ?
I at least found the audio setup instructions for use on my PC's Control Panel, but:
    1) ?My standard (Logitech) wireless mouse now works like sh*t (totally unacceptable now, unless I disconnect the Xmod USB)...so what, do I have to go back to a corded mouse now?
    2) ?A number of remote functions don't seem to work right, or at all. ?The FAQ on the online pdf includes this gem:
Q: ?Why can't I access my media player?s functions with the remote control?
A: ?With some media players, some functions are not accessible via the XmodWireless remote control.
Would it have blown your testing budget to have maybe LISTED some of the players that DO and DON'T work right with this deviceOr do I have to figure this out by trial-and-errorI currently prefer "MediaMonkey," but it seems as if a bunch of those remote functions don't work with it. ?Will I ever know what the "menu" button is supposed to do?

  • Xmod not auto-installing drivers under Windows XP 64-

The specs list support for Windows XP 64-bit, but when I tell it to automatically find and install drivers it says it can't find the necessary drivers. Creative support said they don't have stand-alone drivers for this and that it "should work".
Can anyone please help? The Xmod shows up in Device Manager with a yellow exclimation mark.
    Thanks!!

  • Xmod: Line-out too much near usb p

Sorry for my english, I'm italian...
I can't connect my belkin pure AV cable to Xmod because the space between usb and line out is too small, i think this is a serious planning problem because many good quality cable present a connector more larger than standard, my question: Can I use headphone-out for speakers without differences?
    P.S: I don't use CMSS-3D

Thanks for the reply, but I have tried it - I did state it in my message.
I probably tried it 10 times already, no help.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Help! Connecting Audigy nx2 to Xmod then to t20 spea

Hi, the reason i'm connecting this way is Xmod dont have software to tune bass or equalizer.
I have the usb adapter and it works fine but i have no free socket. All occupied by T20, laptop, external harddisk and audigy nx2.
I'm just wondering if Xmod can only draw power from my laptop usb and work as standalone device rather a souncard. I had tried to connect nx2 output to xmod but its not working without the external usb. Although I disabled xmod in device manager, its still not working.
    Anyone, please help!

The Xmod needs to get power, whether it's by connecting to a PC or by using a power adapter. If you're trying to use it as a standalone device (and connect something to the line-in) then you'd need to power it using a power adapter with a USB connection (see here).

  • I use Yahoo as my home page. As soon as I left it, the screen was grabbed by something that took it to a page including "adap.tv" in the URL. Help!

I use current version of Firefox on a Windows XP desktop machine. I normally use Yahoo as my home page and Firefox as my browser. Starting a few weeks ago, when I clicked on a link on the main Yahoo page, I would get about one second of whatever it was I wanted to read or see then another screen that included "adap.tv" in the very long URL would replace it. Starting yesterday, this program began to override the security settings in Firefox that told it to NOT change the home page and I now get about one second of Yahoo before it switches to a page with "adap.tv" in the "URL". I have reloaded Firefox without success.

    Try to reset your Firefox

  • Xmod: sound distortion on USB 2.0

    Next problem with Xmod,
there are extreme sound distortions if connected via USB 2.0 hub. Direct connection works. Already tried two different hubs, same procedure ...
great product, solve one problem, get the next for free ....

Ok, bringing this back from the dead beacuse the problem has suddenly returned after "magically" fixing it's self for the last few months.  Everything seems to be exactly back how it was before, the usb card works, the drive works, they just don't quite work together.

  • Question about Xmod.. Need answer

I'm really **bleep** Interested in the X-Fi technology and all that.
Firstly the Xmod compared to other X-Fi devices... will the output sound be same in all the cases?
    look upon here:
    http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/article.asp?SCID=88&CIID=67889
Apart from that all other reviews are mostly : Don't like it... or LOVE it..
It says there isn't any X-Fi chip in the Xmod.
Over that .. the test results are different from the X-Fi sound cards!!
I just need answers from a professional person in this.
    Creative... Help me with this.

don't compare xmod with the x-fi pci soundcard. theey are different. xmod is just a gimmick.

  • XMod also makes a popping noi

Hey guys, I've been using the XMod for several weeks now, and I notice randomly after using iTunes and then quitting, the XMod will pipe irregular metallic "pop" noises into my earphones.
    Sample available: http://www.squarebrain.net/wp-content/uploads/2007/0/popnoise.wav
It never does it for the lineout connected speakers. Also, if I unplug the lineout and plug my external speaker into the earphone jack, nothing; no popping noise.
Unplugging and re-plugging the XMod fixes the problem, but it comes back after some time.
I've tried disabling the on-board sound, to no avail.
Since it's easily fixable it's more of an annoyance than anything else, but what gives?

I just got back from CC with a new unit and this one is giving me the same problem, I don't know what happens, I think creative is going to create an update to fix this problem, will keep testing the unit and if I don't find any solution, will return it.
The Xmod is a very straightforward product, it doesn't work the way a soundcard would, it doesn't require drivers/software, or?much setting up. Are you using the USB port on the front of the PC? If so, try the back, it could be something related to not having enough power from your USB port, or a problem with the port you were using. If you have access to?another system, try it out there aswell.

Thanks for answering, Luckily, I have 4 systems to test it on, I have the same problem with them, Two of them are Gateway, one Emachine and the last is a compaq, I tested with all the available USB Ports, with the same problem, the weird thing is, that when I connect the mic, the noise goes away, this happens only with the headphones. As I said before, I'm having problems with the mic port as well. I have an Audigy 2 NX which doesn't turn on, do you or anyone know where can I take it to get it fixed?

  • Extremely noisy output from Xmod wirel

Let me start by saying that I think the Xmod wireless is a great product. I have bought other products which claim to wirelessly transmit audio over short ranges, and all of them have a lot of interference. The Xmod wireless is not like that at all, the sound comes in crystal clear on the other end. I also love the fact that I can change tracks / volume etc using the remote on either the transmitter or receiver.
One thing that I like to do however is play my music in two locations at once, so if I move from one room to another the music keeps playing.
Currently, I have the transmitter hooked up to my computer via USB, and then I have the line out on the transmitter running to the line in on my computer. This allows me to listen to audio on on my computer speakers and also at the wireless receiver location.
The problem is that the line out from the Xmod wireless transmitter is extremely noisy, so if there's a quiet part on the song or in between songs, I hear tons of what'd I'd call electrical background noise.
I've tried eliminate things by plugging the line out of the transmitter directly into my speakers which did not help, I also tried skipping USB and plugging the transmitter into an electrical outlet and using the line out from my sound card, and that didn't help either.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to eliminate the background noise? If anyone else has the Xmod wireless, can they please tell me if this is a problem they also have? Curious if it may just be a problem with my specific unit.
The strange thing is that the wireless receiver does not suffer from this problem, only the line out from the Xmod wireless transmitter.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

    - Nope, I contacted support who could only provide me with canned emails about trying to unplug the unit and plug it back in or other tier type suggestions.
They finally authorized a replacement unit, but the replacement unit suffered from the same problem. I can only assume that the problem exists in all units.
