Xmod wireless interfeering with wifi in the room

xmod wireless interfeering with wifi in the room
just bought the x mod wireless transmitter and receiver bundle
sounds awesome but wifi stops dead in its tracks as soon as I switch on the transmitter / receiver.
i've got both of them in the same room btw.

I am having the same problem on my Sony Vaio with Windows Vista installed. When using Xmod wireless to stream internet radio, my WiFi will stop working? immediatly and restart again once Xmod is disconnected from the PC.
When I connect the PC directly to the router via ethernet cable all works perfectly well.
Could this be due to a conflict between the Xmod Wireless and the built in WiFi adaptor and if so, what could be the steps to detect and resolve?
FYI.
Originally I used the Xmod Wireless on Dell Insprion with XP installed and the weired problem with WiFi disconecting did not exist on the other PC

Living in an apartment, here it has only wireless (no wired cable in the room) signal using for the internet connection. I've  an airport express (new) ,so how can I do for extending signal (wireless) for using in myroom. because the wireless signal is so weak.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to. In order to do so, you would have to configure both the AirPort Express and the other wireless router for a WDS. Since it will unlikely that the other router is another AirPort, nor will you have the ability to administer it, you won't be able to get this accomplished.

  • Using imac 10.6.5 as router (with WiFi as the WAN)

    Happy Holidays,
I have a few questions before I go out and spend the money on an Airport extreme. I have not been able to find much information on the specific setup I have in mind.
Background: I have an iMac that connects to the internet through Optimum WiFi via the internal airport interface. I would like to bridge that internet connection to the wired ethernet port, with a wireless access point attached to it for a few devices in my house (iphone/xbox/etc...).
    Questions:
    1) Will the iMac act as a DHCP server on the ethernet port to give addresses to clients?
    2) Can I connect an Airport Extreme and my iMac through ethernet (I am assuming I will not use the WAN port) and use it as a normal access point? (As to not do any NATting/DHCP itself as it would if it were the router).
Basically I want to bridge 2 WiFi networks (1 WAN, 1 internal, connected through the ethernet interface) for internet sharing and access between the devices. I like the Airport Extreme because it has wired ports as well as AirDisk but all of the setup scenarios I have seen so far describe setting it up either as a Router or Wireless extender.
I "could" just connect all of my devices to Optimum WiFi, but I would like a fast internal network for the remote apps I use on my iphone, streaming, as well as any wired devices.
    Thank you,
    Jack
    1)

    Thanks for the reply.
I am currently set up in an apartment by work for 6 months. We have Optimum Online at work, and with that comes the use of Optimum Wifi. So I do not have a router at the apartment (am trying to avoid purchasing separate broadband service that will only be for a few months.)
    - My iMac connects directly to Optimum WiFi, which has a strong signal in my area.
    - If I use internet sharing FROM my Airport (on mac) TO ethernet, that should be the only NAT. The iMac would act as the DHCP server, and the airport would simply be a wireless access point and a switch. (With added support for AirDisk, etc)
    - I've set up similar configs easily with a number of wireless APs (From SMC, Netgear, etc...). My main question is if the Airport Extreme can work just like a normal AP would, without all the DHCP management.
I could just pick up a regular AP like http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=44682 40&CatId=372 and be done with it. But I like the extra features that the Airport Extreme has, and I will eventually use it as a router once I have a permanent apartment and proper broadband.
Opt Wifi --> Mac Airport -> Mac (w/sharing) -> Mac Ethernet -> LAN port on Airport Express.
My hope is clients connecting to the Express, should be getting the IP from the iMac, just like a plain Wireless AP would work.
    Thanks again.

  • Error message when connect to wireless router with wifi enabled phone

    Wireless router model WRT54G Ver.2
i would like to seek help on this.
I have been using a wirreless router to access the internet with my computer and it has been working fine. recently i got a handphone with wifi capability (nokia 5800). I managed to connect the phone to connect to the wireless router (it says so in the phone status). but when i tried to open the browser in the phone i got an error message "No Gateway Reply".
Can anyone help me to troubleshoot?
    I enable WEP for security.
another thing is, i tried to use the phone to connect to another wireless router at the cafe, it worked well.
    thanks

When you connect your handphone to your wireless network, whats the IP address you are getting it on your handphone, if required you can provide a static ip on your handphone i.e IP : 192.168.1.10, Subnet : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1, DNS1: 4.2.2.2, DNS2 : 4.2.2.1 and after this you can restart your handphone and try to check if you are able to go online or not.

  • HT4199 Mac Cinema display interfering with WiFi connection

Year-old MacBook Pro works fine with WiFi UNTIL I plug into my older Mac 21" Cinema display - which I need to do via Rocketfish adaptor, and a female firewire adaptor. Plug in - offline. Unplug - back online.
I have messed with network settings repeatedly, and got things running for a small pocket of time. Restart the day after, back offline.
Note that my older MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard doesn't have this issue - only the new computer, which requires the adaptors to do so.
Any help is greatly appreciated - this is killing productivity!!!

Actually, Niel is half-right. After searching for over a month, and researching all sorts of options that "might" work, I went with the Atlona Dual-DVI to Mini DisplayPort (see link above - discontinued so you'll have to look on Amazon or eBay) and the Apple Nvidia 6800 GT DDL video card (look on eBay for approx. $70-$100).
To achieve full native resolution on the Apple 27" Cinema LED, (2560x1440), you'll have to have both a Dual-DVI to Mini DisplayPort converter/adapter (like the Atlona), IN ADDITION to one of the higher-end "build to order" video cards like the Nvidia 6800 GT DDL or Ultra DDL which can support resolutions greater than the stock 1900x1200 on a single DVI-equipped stock card that came with most PowerMac G5's.
Hope this helps clarify a little for those looking to stretch the lifespan of those bastardized G5's. ;)

Sorry to hear about your collections mishap, just keep in mind this is a peer to peer forum for customers and you likely will not receive the help you are looking for from Verizon.
Now you say that the account went to collections and you have paid it. So at this point I am not sure what you can negotiate anymore. I've read that if you have something in collections and tell the collecting company that you will pay them if they remove the negative mark from your credit, they will negotiate it with you.
In this situation, if things are as you say and you did not receive the final bill at the correct address, then you may have an argument to take to the credit bureaus. I would file a report with the credit bureaus and see where that takes me, also once your account goes to collections to my knowledge it doesn't have anything to do with Verizon anymore. The debt is between you and the collections company. I would try to contact them and see if you can somehow negotiate having the collection removed from your credit report seeing as the debt has been settled and the bill was never sent to your correct address.
I haven't really ever dealt with an account in collections, so this is just some helpful information I have thought of, if anything is not accurate in how you can deal with this, I apologize.

  • DLNA with WiFi and the Actiontech router - No Go

I'm trying to create a DLNA for home so I can stream my videos from my computer over the WiFi to my PS3, Xbox360, and WiFI Vizio TV, and mobile devices. The problem is I can't get the server (using Universal Media Server) to find any devices. I've spent the past couple days browsing the forums and trying to find a solution, but so far nothing has worked. A lot of people have said disabling IGMP will fix the issue, but so far that alone hasn't resolved the problem. I did find another forum where someone mentioned disabling DHCP in the router, and when I did that I instantly saw my PS3 pop up as a renderer. It appears the problem is because my PC is connected directly to the router (MI424WR Actiontech), while my PS3 is connected over the wireless (downstairs). The connection from the ONT is MoCa and not ethernet. Since it appears the issue is with the wireless and DHCP from the Actiontech, I was considering purchasing another router and setting up a transparent bridge between the Actiontech and a Cisco/Linksys EA4500, but it appears Verizon nor Actiontech don't support it. Does anybody have any solutions to get this to work? If it's possible without using the Cisco, I'd prefer that, but anything at this point would be great. If you need more details I'll gladly provide them.
    Thank you,
    Lee

This sure sounds like the IGMP proxy problem.  If you have a 802.11n router (rev I), the IGMP proxy settings are hidden.  If you didn't find the magic URL to un-hide the settings, you may not have actually turned IGMP off.  Here's the magic:
    http://192.168.1.1/index.cgi?active_page=6059&req_mode=0&mimic_button_field=goto%3a+6059..&strip_pag...
You need to be logged into your router for this to work.
If you have indeed turned off IGMP proxy, I'm at a loss.
    Good Luck

  • Audigy 2 ZS Interfering with WIFI c

    System Specs:
P4 .6 GHz on an Intel D845HV Board
    Audigy 2 ZS
Linksys WMP 802.b Wireless Network Card
    Windows 2000 Professional (SP4)
Upon installation of my sound card, the wireless network card installed next to my new sound card stopped functioning properly. When I have my sound card enabled, my internet connection becomes slow and laggy. Under these conditions, even simple tasks like downloading email from an email server become impossible. However, when I disable the sound card with the device manager in windows control panel, my wireless network card works as normal.
I have tried installing both cards in different PCI slots (I only have 2 PCI slots availabe because one is blocked by my video card cooler), updating drivers, and creative customer support, but nothing seems to make my wireless network card work properly while my sound card is enabled
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated and thx ahead of time

Ok, Customer Support is leaning towards a resource problem and has suggested that I change the IRQ of my soundcard; however, I am using Windows 2000 with ACPI mode. When I looked at the Intel webpage (Intel is the maker of my motherboard), I found this:
"In Windows* 2000, some or all of the devices on your ACPI motherboard may be listed on the Resources tab in Device Manager as using the same IRQ (IRQ 9). You cannot change the IRQ setting because the setting is unavailable. This occurs because Windows* 2000 takes advantage of the ACPI features of the motherboard, including advanced PCI sharing. IRQ 9 is used by the PCI bus for IRQ steering. This feature lets you add more devices without generating IRQ conflicts."
While my sound card and WIFI card are not on the same IRQ (WIFI IRQ is 22, and Sound Card IRQ is 23) and the IRQ is clearly not 9 like this excerpt exemplifies, it leads me to believe that I cannot manually assign an IRQ with ACPI enabled.
Again, this seems to be a problem only in Windows 2K, so would a switch to Windows XP fix this situation? Also, if they are not on the same IRQ right now, how would changing the IRQs help anything in this situation. Any feedback is welcome.

  • [W520] Intel PROset/Wireless interferes with wifi connections

W520 with Windows 7 Pro and Intel Centrino N-6300 wireless adapter connecting to an Asus RT-N66U wireless router.
If I have Intel PROset/Wireless installed my laptop can't connect to any wifi networks.  If I try the Windows network troubleshooter it thinks there is a problem with the access point but there isn't because I have a phone and 2 other laptops that can connect just fine.  Restarting my computer or my router doesn't help, neither does uninstalling and resinstalling the wireless adapter drivers..  As soon as I uninstall PROset/Wireless I can connect again.
I've had this problem for quite a while and I just uninstall the software.  I installed a bunch of Lenovo updates recently and it got installed again and I had a frustrating hour or so trying to troubleshoot until I remembered the likely cause of the problem.  I uninstalled it and now things are working again.  I don't think there are any features in the PROset/Wireless software I would even use but I'd still like to know why it's causing this problem.

  • Is there a problem with WiFi on the iPhone 5?

Hi.  I recently purchased an iPhone 5 and I have been having some problems connecting to WiFi at home in my bedroom.  Basically, I will connect to the network and eventually, it will lose the connection and go back to 3G/LTE.  Then, I have to go back to Settings and wait for the phone to find the network again.  I have never had this problem on my iPod Touch or MacBook.  Is this a common problem?  If so, what can I do to resolve it?
    Thanks so much!

There is a problem related to the security setting on your router.  Search around a little bit and you will see some rather extensive threads about this subject.  Some of them say to put your security back to WEP and others say to set it to WPA2 + TKIP.  Mine is working fine so I haven't had to mess with the security settings.  I hope that this helps.
    thanks,
    Ken

  • Can either the Airport Express or Airport Extreme be used "standalone" to create a wireless network with access to the internet?

I want to create a wireless network for my iMac, Macbook Pro and iPad, and I'm confused about the Airport Extreme and Airport Express devices.
There is mention for both about connecting them to a DSL or Modem. Does this mean I have to obtain additional hardware before they will enable connection to the internet? (In the past, I've used a Belkin Router, which simply connected to the phone line.)
    Any advice gratefully received.
    Tony

Does this mean I have to obtain additional hardware before they will enable connection to the internet?
Yes, you need a modem. The AirPorts are routers only. They do not have a modem built in, so you will need a modem if you want to be able to connect to the Internet.
The Belkin device that you have used before is a modem/router.  It combines the functions of a modem and router in one package.

  • Suspect 7.1.1 update interfering with wifi ?

Since updating to ios 7.1.1 have been getting messages 'not connected to Internet' even though wifi symbol still visible. This occurs in various programs i. e. Hulu, Netflix etc.... It is not unique to this device. Three iPhones in family have same issue since updating 2 iPhone 4s ;1 iPhone 5s

There is local network and there is the internet.  Don't confuse the two.  Just because you are connected to a local network does not mean the network is connected to the internet.
Generally, recycling your modem/router will fix things.
    Have a nice day.
