XMod Wireless iss

I have installed an XMOD Wireless under Vista Ultimate 32bt but am having a few problems:? - I have followed the instructions to use the XMOD wireless transmitter as a standalone soundcard and?not have it transmit a radio signal but it is still?interfering with my Logitech MX Revolution mouse which (is wireless) and moves jerkily or not at all when the XMOD Wireless is installed. When I plug in a wired usb mosue there is no interference problemand the mouse works fine. 2 - In the Control Panel/Sound properties I do not have XMOD Wireless showing up under "Playback" or "Recording" just just Speakers (for Playback)?and Line in (for recording). As a result, I am getting sound but when I try to record radio from the internet I get no recording level (there is no volume showing in the green leds bar?and no Wave/Midi or What you hear options in the recording set up).
I tried to load the October firmware update but I am told by the Installer that no upgrade is necessary (apparently it is up-to-date - I bought the XMOD Wireless to day). It required no software driver to be installed initially. Grateful for any advice. My Soundblaster Li've External was working ok - but the XMOD is not working properly.
Grateful for any advice on how I get the thing working. The XMOD Wireless is plugged directly into a usb socket on the motherboard (and not into a hub). Thanks. David?????

No replies. I'll just bin the hardware. What a waste of money. david

sounds awesome but wifi stops dead in its tracks as soon as I switch on the transmitter / receiver.
i've got both of them in the same room btw.

I am having the same problem on my Sony Vaio with Windows Vista installed. When using Xmod wireless to stream internet radio, my WiFi will stop working? immediatly and restart again once Xmod is disconnected from the PC.
When I connect the PC directly to the router via ethernet cable all works perfectly well.
Could this be due to a conflict between the Xmod Wireless and the built in WiFi adaptor and if so, what could be the steps to detect and resolve?
    FYI.

  • Xmod wireless weak sound

I have an xmod wireless transmitter/recoi'ver setup and the sound on my stereo is very weak. the transmitter sounds fine on the computer speakers but 30 ft away in my livingroom I have to crank up the volume to hear anything. Is there a more detailed setup guide than the one that comes in the [email protected]

What happens if you max the soundcard volume (and turn down the computer speakers to compensate)? There is some XMOD Wireless information in the Support Knowledge Base, but I don't recall seeing something relevant to your question.

  • Xmod Issues & lack of support

!Xmod Issues & lack of support? After trading FOUR emails with Creative Tech Support to find out why my USB powered Altec Lansing speakers do not work with my Xmod, and asking for possible solutions (the only one being I have to buy ANOTHER pair of non-USB powered speakers), I finally received this reply...
"Thank you for replying to Creative Technical Support.
With regards to your inquiry, you do not need a power adapter for the
Xmod cause it is only USB powered. Meanwhile, you can connect your Xmod
    to a powered speaker system.
If you still require assistance, please reply to this email with any
previous correspondence to ensure the quickest and most accurate
    service."
Wow, not only can they NOT answer my question, but they don't even know their own product!? If it is ONLY USB POWERED, then why are so many people complaining in the forum about having to buy yet another $40 a/c adapter to meet their needs. I keep reading over and over about not using the forum for tech support issues, and instead,?that you should direct specific tech support issues to the Support re
    ps.
    Good luck on THAT one!

    Hear, hear...
Since I don't see the Xmod anywhere on Creative's product list, well, should I...conclude it's now an orphan?
Consider also this response when I got desperate enough to actually try the 'knowledgebase': "There are currently no Knowledgebase Solutions for?Xmod Wireless" - how can I not conclude that there simply IS no meaningful tech supportI mean...REALLYNothingIndeed, it does seem like an orphan - but if there ever was any online documentation worthy of this engineering effort, why would it have been removed?
Mine came with LOTS of plastic bags and unnecessary packaging, but as far as paperwork goes, was conspicuously lacking in anything other than a barebones "quickstart"-type guide: ?just one folded sheet in each box (trans & receiver), with half of even that tiny amount of info devoted to languages other than English. ?Assembly was self-explanatory and simple - but that's all these silly little guides cover! ?Use of most features was absolutely baffling - it's like I am missing some software that should have come with it, but didn't, and there's no mention of it in the scant guides I have. ?Remotes have buttons for features like "menu," "display," etc but even with the USB connection in place and the device recognized, there doesn't seem to be any downloading of software that would make such features functional. ?It'll play my music from my player software, but there sure isn't any other usable remote or even wired control - other than the power button.
Update: ?OK, there's a little more info available... but that's only if you find the pdf on the Creative website (and your pdf software is working...which mine wasn't) but still, I emphasize, it's only scant info. ?
I at least found the audio setup instructions for use on my PC's Control Panel, but:
    1) ?My standard (Logitech) wireless mouse now works like sh*t (totally unacceptable now, unless I disconnect the Xmod USB)...so what, do I have to go back to a corded mouse now?
    2) ?A number of remote functions don't seem to work right, or at all. ?The FAQ on the online pdf includes this gem:
Q: ?Why can't I access my media player?s functions with the remote control?
A: ?With some media players, some functions are not accessible via the XmodWireless remote control.
Would it have blown your testing budget to have maybe LISTED some of the players that DO and DON'T work right with this deviceOr do I have to figure this out by trial-and-errorI currently prefer "MediaMonkey," but it seems as if a bunch of those remote functions don't work with it. ?Will I ever know what the "menu" button is supposed to do?

  • Extremely noisy output from Xmod wirel

Let me start by saying that I think the Xmod wireless is a great product. I have bought other products which claim to wirelessly transmit audio over short ranges, and all of them have a lot of interference. The Xmod wireless is not like that at all, the sound comes in crystal clear on the other end. I also love the fact that I can change tracks / volume etc using the remote on either the transmitter or receiver.
One thing that I like to do however is play my music in two locations at once, so if I move from one room to another the music keeps playing.
Currently, I have the transmitter hooked up to my computer via USB, and then I have the line out on the transmitter running to the line in on my computer. This allows me to listen to audio on on my computer speakers and also at the wireless receiver location.
The problem is that the line out from the Xmod wireless transmitter is extremely noisy, so if there's a quiet part on the song or in between songs, I hear tons of what'd I'd call electrical background noise.
I've tried eliminate things by plugging the line out of the transmitter directly into my speakers which did not help, I also tried skipping USB and plugging the transmitter into an electrical outlet and using the line out from my sound card, and that didn't help either.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to eliminate the background noise? If anyone else has the Xmod wireless, can they please tell me if this is a problem they also have? Curious if it may just be a problem with my specific unit.
The strange thing is that the wireless receiver does not suffer from this problem, only the line out from the Xmod wireless transmitter.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

    - Nope, I contacted support who could only provide me with canned emails about trying to unplug the unit and plug it back in or other tier type suggestions.
They finally authorized a replacement unit, but the replacement unit suffered from the same problem. I can only assume that the problem exists in all units.

  • Xmod - no so

My new Xmod has no sound when used with my PC. The Xmod shows in Windows as the default audio device and available, but produces no sound from any type of file(mp3, wav, mid, CD audio etc) or player. Windows Media Player says there is no audio device installed.
Just in case, I tried de-installing the Audigy2 card I have in my PC and taking it out of the PCI slot, but that didn't make any difference.
I tried the Xmod on a laptop and it works fine.
How do I get it to work with the PC? I thought the whole idea of the Xmod was that I didn't have to install any drivers or fiddle with anything.

When I hooked up Xmod wireless, the Creative 7. speakers hooked to my PC quit working. I now have "Sounds and Audio Devices" from the Control Panel as a desktop Icon. I can easily switch between Xmod and the Soundblaster card. I do have to shutdown and reopen?Organizer (or the DAK Wave/MP3 editor)?for the change to take affect. It would be nice to be able to use both simultaneously without having to hook the 7. system to the Xmod transmitter stereo audio outputs. I might try hooking the transmitter audio output to the?B&O audio system in the computer room?that I use to record my vinyl collection into the PC. Then I'd only have to switch audio devices when I play a surround sound?CD or DVD disc in the PC. Next for me is to figure out how to get my PC display wirelessly sent to?the plasma TV in the living room?so I don't have to go to the computer room to answer the frequently asked, "Who is doing that song?". I have a D-Link wireless router. I just need to find a receiving unit to hook to the computer port on the plasma. Any advice would be appreciated.

  • XMod launches Sound Volume instead of Media Pla

I installed an XMod Wireless and it's connected to my WXP PC. The PC has Windows Media Player as well as Creative MediaSource Version 3.30.2. When I push the Menu button on the Xmod's remote control, SNDVOL32.EXE pops up on the PC display instead of a media player.
    How to fix this??Thanks

After some reading, I can see that I am not the only one with "crackling" problems, but I have still not found anyone with the problem with the sound completely disappearing until the application is restarted. I have also noticed that if I have several audio-applications open when the sound disappears, all of them loose the sound. If I then start another player, the new player has sound, but all the others that were open then the sound disappeared is still not working.
    Anyone got any ideas? Please?

  • Hi i bought soundblaster x-fi notebook and xfi wireless receiver and cant pair them, please help

Hi, as i said before i cant pair the devices, i conect the receiver and it didnt pair automatically, y press foward and rewind to reset and it didnt pair either, i try pairing them manually by pressing the led on the card and the conect bottom of the back of the receiver, nothing they both tilt and they dont find each other. Anyone has this problem before? i have windows vista 32 home basic, that might be it's is the receiver sn 70sb084000005 not compatible with the express 54(notebook slot)?xfi sound card?
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
It may be because the X-Fi Wireless Recei'ver is not compatible with the X-Fi Notebook. From the product page at creative site http://sg.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=209&subcategory=843&product=8 094&listby=, it seems like the Creative Wireless Recei'ver is the correct receiver for X-Fi Notebook.. X-Fi Wireless Recei'ver is more for Xmod Wireless. If this is true, I hope you can still exchange the receiver from where you bought it for the correct one.

  • ITunes -- Wireless -- Home Stereo

I have my entire (almost 600) CD collection in iTunes. I am presently playing from iTunes to my stereo via a Creative Labs XMod Wireless Music System. It works very well, but I have started to think about possibly including a higher quality DAC product. If I continue to use the Creative Labs product for its wireless interconnect, I am not sure how to work an external DAC into the configuration. Advice?

A point of clarity please ... '+powered speakers or a stereo+' (?) ... so in the second case the stereo receiver would be the front end 'powering' the speakers; in the first case 'powered speakers' would refer to speakers that obtained their own power from the household supply?
Correct. Yu could use battery powered speakers.
The Airport Express is not an amplifier. It puts out line level only.
Airport Express 3.5mm jack would need a 'splitter' - one side to each speaker?
No. It's a stereo connector. Get a 3.5mm stereo to a 3.5mm stereo cable or 3.5mm stereo to 2 phono plugs.

  • Xmod wirel

I use xmod wireless with xp pro sp3 & win server 2k3,
when i press Menu, start winamp but when i pess Play no song start.
i can't skip song or other player control.
Which software i have to use ? Which palyer is total compatible with remote control ?
    Thanks Sk3

When you play a music track, does your system launches Windows Media Player or Winamp?
It could be due to some differences in key mapping, however it would be best to get in touch with support for further assistance.

  • DexterM - Printer connected wireless but Notebook cannot connect to printer?

    Hi all,
I will be a brief and clear as possible. I really hope someone can help! thanks in advance.
DexterM, if your still arond I think maybe you would be familiar with this type of thing. I will be as concise as possible.
I incorrectly removed some HP folders in an effort to remove the bloatware. (shop and participation program etc).
Anyway, I damaged my install because Solution Center disappeared! I needed it to scan multiple page PDF docs.
I tried to uninstall and re-install the Full Software package (my printer is B110a) 10s of times. Each time the Installer showed that 'Solution center' is already installed. It was not installed.
Eventually after days of trying to fix this, I took the drastic measure of remving some HP keys from the registry. Not randomly of course, but from a solution post on this board. I only removed about 4 HP keys. I was very careful not to remove any Windows ones. (I se Win7).
So.. Solution center then installed. Hooray! Everything seemed perfect. EXCEPT....
I had removed 2 keys related to the Network. Something like NET HPz12 and something similar.
Now when I tried to connect my printer wirelessly (using the USB to wireless process) it cold not find any wifi networks even though there were several in the vicinity.
I found a solution on this forum which involved right clicking on the network.msi file and choosing uninstall, then re-installing it. This did the trick! now when I ran the "USB to Wireless" process it instantly found my wireless "your PC is connected to SSID blah blah blah, is this correct". Yes. It continued the network diagnostic but always failed at this point.
I think because some service or reg key is missing the computer cannot commnicate directly with the printer, but it can see it at http://192.18.1.2 etc via browser. so all is connected properly, but something is preventing the laptop from commnicating with the printer.
    So to recap.
Laptop works perfectly with printer via USB.
Printer is connected to my wireless without isse. I can see it at http://192.168.1.2 etc
Laptop cannot connect to printer though, and fails everytime I run the 'usb to wireless' process.
I suspect one of the NET keys I deleted frmo the reg is to blame? Or some missing windows service?
The network diagnostic utility says "network software missing, please reinstall or fix and try again". I have uninstalled and reinstalled 10s of times now. It's not putting back no the required network service/key thats missing.
Argh. please can anyone help. Someone must have been here before? I have a screen shot too of the 'USB to wireless' process failing. It shows the connection is there, but something is not right.
image 0 - the 'usb to wireless process' picks up my wireless without any problem. ok
image 1 - during the 'running diagnostic on network' part of the process it fails
image 2 - not much to go on here. I reinstalled and uninstalled 4 or 5 times already. same thing.

Nobody? Im really stuck here... Been onto support 3 times and they cannot help. I need someone with expert skills who will understand which windows service or driver or key is preventing the notebook from talking to the printer even though both are on the same network successfully. No AV or FW on the network either.

  • Problem connecting MBP to established Linksys wireless network (Part 2)

Thanks to all who followed part 1 thread. I have been trying to wirelessly connect my new MBP 2.16 to my established linksys BEFWS11S4 network. I gave up on 128 encryption for now, MBP couldn't take it.
by playing with the setting and manual config I can get the MBP to connect to the linksys network, (I even see the mac on my Win XP's DHCP master table). In the network utilities I get a green status light. when i run diagnostics i get a green airport, airport settings, network settings and ISP. STill red are "internet" and "server". no conncetion with safari...
I know the MBP works becuase i was able to connect to my neigbors wireless network and will work when I hard wire it through built-in ethernet.
Anyone know why the airport wouldn't work here? any thoughts appreciated I have spent way to many hours on this......

OK so your router is issuing IP addresses. However, I would say there is definately something wrong with your router's config. Maybe your DHCP server on your router is switched off? Anyway by adding your own IP address that is half the battle, as you need more than an IP address to connect to the internet, that's why you can see it in the list but cannot connect to the net. When a computer is set to DHCP it sends out a message to any DHCP servers requesting an IP address, if it gets no response in a set time, it issues itself an address, like yours is doing, the address will probably look like this: 169.254.14.192, it's called an APIPA address (Automatic Private IP Addressing)
You see a router uses a NAT (network address translation) so that from the internet all the machines connected to your router would show the same IP address which would be the one supplied by your ISP. For this to work, each machine on your network needs to have a default gateway, which is the IP address that your outbound traffic goes to. If your router is not issuing an IP address then it's probable that it's not issuing this data also, so you can add it yourself.
On your windows machine, go to a command prompt Start>Run type cmd and press enter, then type ipconfig /all press enter, it will show you the IP address of your PC, your subnet mask and your default gateway. I am going to assume that your IP address is in the 192 range as most Linksys are. So let's say your IP address of your router is 192.168.1.1 (on the new ones they tend to go with 192.168.1.15) so whichever yours is, that is your default gateway, as that's the address of your router. So your PC may have 192.168.1.100 as it's IP address.
On your Mac go to the System preferences>Network and the TCP/IP tab and select manual setup in Airport. Type in an IP address like 192.168.1.101 (or one up from your PCs IP address, then type in the subnet mask 255.255.255.0 if that is the same as your PC and then where it says Router (this is the default gateway address on a Mac), type in the default gateway here. Select apply and that should now connect to the internet.
I would only use this until you can resolve your Router's issue. Maybe you can call them back and tell them your router is not issing IP addresses. Or get a friend to try his laptop and see if he gets one. If not then you know it's your router. I would bet money that it's your router, that's why you can connect to your neighbours but not yours. Also remember if you keep the manual setup if you go travelling, remember to change it back to DHCP or you wont be able to pick up any hotspots. You can save a TCP/IP setup on a Mac so you could save the setup and name it and when you go travelling change to default, or auto.
Let me know how you get on.

  • WRT320N : Keep needing to re-connected wireless lan

    Hi
I have a problem with a WRT320N that is wirelessly connected to a windows 7 PC using a WUSB600N network card.
As soon as I boot the PC, everything works fine. Then after about 30 secs I lose connection to the router. If I disconnect and re-connect the wireless network in windows and everything is then fine until next time I reboot the PC (or it wakes from sleep) and then the same thing happens.
Can anyone think whats causing this?I am assuming its related to the DHCP reservation but cannot work out why this is occuring.
The router has the latest firmware (1.0.04). The router is set to Wireless-N only, and the PC has a DHCP reservation.
The information that appears in the logs everytime is as follows:
    >>

    Thanks
    Chris

Well I am using Wireless N so its only 36,40,44 or 48 for the channel options.
I changed the Beacon interval, RTS and fragmentation thresholds as you suggest but it made no difference.
The same thing also happens whether the PC is connected with a cable, so I don't think the wireless settings are of any consequence.
I really need to get to the bottom of what the log message REALLY means.
What does 'found static leases pair' really mean?
It thinks it has given the same IP out to 2 cards?
Is it not recognising the MAC properly?
    Its issing the IP twice?

  • I have an ipad3 which has been spontaneously restarting and is not connecting well to either mobile service or wireless networks.

I have an ipad3 which has been spontaneously restarting and is not connecting well to either mobile service or wireless networks. It has become unusable. Is there  a software update to fix this issue?
I have tried removing and reinserting the sim card - I am not even being asked to put in the sim pin to unlock the sim
I have reset the network settings and reconnected to my wireless network. I can get onto the wireless network but the ipad does not connect to my carrier even though my mobile phone (same carrier) has great service.
It seems to me that due to the connecton issue the ipad then restarts itself so I cant even use it for the local apps that do not require any connection to run because every few minutes the unit reboots.
heading to an istore tomorrow to have it looked at but wondered if there is a software upate or setting I can change myself to fix this isse.
not happy after the cost of the unit and ony had a few days use before the issues started!

    Thanks Alan,
in the end it was replaced at the Apple iStore, they restored factory settings and it was still playing up for them too. Weird but the replacement is working perfectly!!
