Xmonad actions.windowbringer; x11 process name in window name

I have been struggling with a small problem that concerns XMonad.Actions.WindowBringer. This module uses dmenu in order to bring some window into focus. Dmenu is called with a list of current names of all windows and  users can either select one window using arrows or search by a string in window names.
The problem is that some applications set window name in such a way that there is no mention about the name of application itself. For instance, my browser simply set the opened url in focused tab, but does not mention the name of the browser.
What I want to achieve is simply put the process name together with the window name, so that it can simplify the window search.
I believe there are two ways of achieving it:
-- the first one is to change the format of the window name in Xorg. Thus, to append to window name, also the name of the process (when I say the name of the process, I mean something like the output of this command: ps -q $(xdotool getwindowfocus getwindowpid) -o command). If there is such a way that one can configure the window name title in Xorg, I would appreciate if one can indicate it. And this would be then a global solution that does not concern xmonad or haskell programming.
-- Another approach I tried is  to find a way to get "getwindowpid" property from inside the haskell in order to modify Action.WindowBringer module for my taste. But I have not found any modules that can achieve that, i.e. getting pid of the windows or getting the process names of the windows. So, if you are aware of any, please reply.
Thank you!

This is exactly where I have started.
Inside the windowbringer module they use the getname function from util.namedwindow, which simply equivalent to "xdotool getwindowname". All other functions in windowbringer module are related to what can be done with the selected window: dragged to the current workspace, jump to the workspace where the window is and focus on it, etc.
Unfortunately, in util.namedwindow there is only one available function which simply get the window name. And I have not find the xmonad module which provide with the same functionality as xdotool program.

  • How can I localize the text of process names, task names and user actions within a process?

I'm very interested in using the capabilities of Adobe LiveCycle Process Management for my project, however I have one rather large concern...   I hope someone here can tell me whether there's a way to address it.
Since I work for the Government of Canada, I have to meet certain requirements relating to bilingualism of the user interface.  It's my understanding that the Workspace portion of LiveCycle has already has support for French.
But what about the design of my processes?  How can I display text to a user in the language of their choice when they're interacting with my processes? ... in particular, I'm thinking about the process name, task names, and user actions.
I hope that this is possible without too much pain.  I imagine this must be a pretty common requirement!
Thanks in advance to all who respond.

You can completely change the content of whole pdf by using "renderPDFForm" operation under service "FormsService". in this operation there is Template category where you can set the Locale.
And if you need to change the other workspace options like Complete, Save as Draft , you can then import workspace ui project and then change apppropriate values.

  • Change the process name in Windows

    Hello,
I wondered if there are any JVM commands which changes the process name of a java-application running in Windows?
I am running several java processes and I would like to identify them in the taskmanager list or tasklist.exe

Check out the jps utility in JDK5.0 (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/tooldocs/share/jps.html). jps -l is probably what you want. It will list applications that are running with 1.4.2 too.

  • How to clear grey loading screen and animated gif (Dynamic Action with "Show Processing" on submit)

    APEX V4.2.3
    DB 11.2
I have a classic report on page 1.  I have a region button called "Export" (defined by a submit dynamic action with "show processing=Yes") that submits the page and then via a branch directs me to page 2 which has a slightly different version of the report on page 1 (i.e. no breaks) which I want to capture as a CSV export.  Therefore I've set the report template on page 2 to " Export:CSV".
Now when I click on the page 1 export button the grey screen and loading gif appears indicating that the report is executing and then as expected, page 2 doesn't appear but instead the standard open/save window's dialog box appears asking to open or save the generated CSV file.  All good..but the grey loading screen remains.  How do I clear this loading screen and get back to the context of page 1 ?
    thanks in advance
    PaulP

    Hi PPlatt,
We would love to help but you left out one crucial part of the puzzle: namely how does your CSV report get exported. With the way it is setup (a redirect to another page), I'm going to assume you do that because you have some PL/SQL on that page that prints the CSV.
Now there are two questions that are crucial here:
    - How do we stop the icon from bugging us on the screen
    - How do we communicate with the browser that it should no longer display the loading icon
The first question is rather easy, two simply lines of codes can do that:
    $('#apex_wait_popup').hide();
    $('#apex_wait_overlay').hide();
But when do we use this code? Quite simple when the document is downloaded. When is it downloaded? At the end of the PL/SQL code that prints the document to the browser.
    What you could do is at the end of that code give an application item a certain value. For example :AI_PRINTED := 'Y';
Then all you need to do is let the browser ask for the value. You could do this by using JavaScript to continuously fire AJAX to the server using a JS timing event:
    http://www.w3schools.com/js/js_timing.asp
Better would be a Server send event, but since you left out another crucial piece of information: your browser, I will not go deeper into this.
Start this timing event when someone asks for the document, and end it as soon as the process returns that :AI_PRINTED equals 'Y'.
Despite the lack of information, I hope I have given, or at least inspired you to get to the solution.
    Regards,
    Joni

  • Image Sequences and Batch Processing: Can opening files from different folders as image sequences be set up as an action for batch processing?

I have an ongoing series of tasks that necessitates opening the contents of a series of folders as image sequences.
I'm used to setting up some fairly complex actions, including ones that are intended to be applied to all of the contents of materials in various subfolders, but for some reason I cannot get an Open-with-Image-Sequence-Checked action to set up in a way that will batch process correctly.
Complicating matters is that the file prefixes (i.e., the letters before the sequential numbers) and the folders will always have different names from the last time the process had to be carried out.
The steps I would like the action to carry out would be the following:
    1. Open Subfolder 1 - that is, Photoshop shouldn't be looking for a specific folder. It's just *any* subfolder to the current parent folder.
    2. Select first file in sequenced set of files.
    3. Open as an image sequence.
    4. Open Subfolder 2.
    5. Select first file in sequenced set of files.
    6. Open as an image sequence.
...rinse and repeat until Photoshop runs out of subfolders to check.
    Am I asking the impossible?
    Thanks!

I'll look around there,  because I had posted something about this and was told to look here ps-scripts - Browse /Image Processor Pro/v3_0 at SourceForge.net
then this is the image here:
is the result I received.  Granted I'm new to using scripts and actions for image processing large amounts of files.

  • How to display Process name in UWL

    Hi All,
I have integrated the GP and UWL and now I want to display process name in the UWL tasl list(instead of action name).
    Thanks
    Raja

If you use Contacts or the Address Book in Outlook, you can specify that a given record is shown under Company Name instead of First/Last name, but you need a PC for that, you cannot do that from iOS unless a third party app provides that functionality.
(Caption from Contacts in OS X 10.10.1: ticking the "Company" checkbox the contact will be shown as the value under Company field)

  • Run java as a different process name in Linux

I have multiple java applications running on a linux platform. When I look at the process list, they all say java. I want them to have a unique process name. The closest I have gotten is starting the java app in a script, and that script name shows up as well as the java app. This could be all fine and dandy, but if someone kills the script, the java process continues on. It would be nice if I could say run this process as this name in Linux, but I know of no such thing. I asked this on LinuxQuestions.org and got a response to use Launch4J...which creates executables for Windows...so that wasn't very helpful. I was hoping the Java community might have a little more insight.

rename the java binaryOr instead of renaming, you could do a symlink... I
don't have a machine to test on, but I think creating
a symlink to the java executable and running that
symlink would change the executable's name in the
process table.nah, the process would still be called 'java'

  • Application Engine Server process dies on Windows

    Hi experts,
We developed an AE in which employee data will be calculated and inserted to HR core table via CI. We started multiple instance of the AE by people code, most of them will success but others run into error and reported "Process XXX is marked 'Initiated' or 'Processing' but no longer running.". On further research we found the windows process (PSAESRV) died and a folder named PSAESRV.PID was generated in process scheduler log directory. The following can be found in "process_state.txt" in the directory:
    Exception: (0xC0000005) EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION - Memory access violation

Could any one figure out what's the problem?
    Edited by: user9546195 on 2010-12-7 下午10:32

Yes it's running on Windows XP professional. We run the test both in Linux Server and Windows XP.  So far no error has been found in Linux Server.  We began performance test and found the error on Windows XP on April,2010. Then we refine the code and test again these days, and the error happens again with the same error message.
*Not sure whether the Peopletools is up-to-date or not, the version of modules can be found in the "process_state.txt" file of the dead process. Attached below is the file.
    Thanks!

  • Start as Service - process name confilcts

Lookuout v5.1 running on Windows XP SP2
We have Lookout set to run as a service. When we log onto Windows then attempt to open the Lookout procees file we get a "Cannot open file: process name confilcts with that of currently running process." error. The only thing I can find related in the help file is the requirement to Log On to Lookout, but I get the same error after logging on to Lookout then trying to open the process. Any idea what I am missing here?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ed

I believe that you get that error because the process is already running as service.
The user interface should appear once the service is started. The problem is why you can't see the user interface when it is running.
Lookout 5.1 starts up as service on my xp computer without any problem. It's running just like I launch lookout.exe.
If you start the service manually, will lookout start up and user interface appear?

  • Using actions and batch processing to maximize compatibility on old psd files

My apologies if this has been answered -- in my search I saw that it was asked multiple times, but not answered.
My goal is to be able to import 5 years of PSD files into Lightroom that were originally saved with maximize compatibility turned off. These files are in shoot folders within year folders.
I have been trying to do this with an action and batch processing through Bridge (Tools>PS>Batch). After switching preferences to MC=always, I have tried an action with a Save command, but that doesn't switch the file to max compat on. Save As does, but it also fixes the destination of the save in the action to a specific folder. I want to be able to overwrite the existing PSD file, leaving it where it is.
Has anyone successfully tackled this issue? I know I can handle it folder by folder, with an action for each folder, but that just wouldn't be cool.
    Thank you

L Show - Yes, I found a way and did just that.
Everything as you wrote, using the save-as option. Yes, it will put the folder name into the action BUT it will override it when you run your batch from bridge IF you check in the box "override action save-as command" (and destination: save and close).
Works like a charm (although slow - not utilizing the multiple cores :( )

  • Process name

Hi, how can I change the process name?. I mean on the instead of appearing java.exe may appear something like MyGame on the process list inside the task manager.

That's a Windows question. Microsoft has a website totally devoted to Windows questions.
My feeling is that the answer is "You can't". The reason for this feeling is that when I look in Task Manager, I don't see anybody else who has done it.

  • GP Process Name in WebDynpro

    Hi All,
I am having one webdynpro application for which I have created a callable object and action. I have added my action to the block and block to some 7 different processes.
Now my req. is I need to get this process name in my webdynpro to pass on as a parameter to the RFC. The thing is in whichever process the user is in I have to get the corresponding process name.
I know I have to get through Execution context the process ID and title of the process. But I am not able to proceed as I am not getting the process ID.
Please help me in this regards.
    Thanks,
    Purush.

    Hi Dipankar,
Thanks for ur reply. I have used that method but not getting the process ID as expected. Also I am not getting the process title  when I use the getTitle method on the Process ID.
Can you please help me to solve this.
    Regards,

  • Java  process  name

    hi
I create a javafx AP (application name is test.fx),
run it , and look windows workmanager ,the procrss name is javaw.exe
how can i rename this procress name on windows workmanager

I don't think you can, that's low level system behavior, the process listing shows only the .exe names.
Beside, it isn't very important. The process name (window name) is displayed in the application list.
If that's for yourself, eg. to distinguish between running instances, you can use jps.exe (shipped with your JDK, not so useful as the JNLP is ran from a temp dir) or use a third party tool like Sysinternals' Process Explorer, able to give more information on running processes (no more useful... but good to know).

  • Changing BPEL Process name

    Hi All,
I am facing a big dilemmma. I made a BPEL Project & its running fine. But we have a requirement to change the BPEL Process name. Any hints how to do that. All BPEL Gurus invited...... Or else I have to recreate the process again??????

I too would want to second the thought of Nilanshu that, the BPEL designer doesnt have a cleaner way to change the name. manual change of the name of files and references inside file is the only way to get away with this.
If you are lucky to be on Unix platform you could use sed and if not try sed for windows (Disclaimer: I have not used sed for win...dont know learning curve would be bigger than manual change n replace)
    Thanks
