XMP folder location on MAC

I am trying to add Custom Panel within Adobe Bridge CC on Mac OS 10.9.2.  does any one know the location of the XMP folder.

Hi Discoverykhalid,
Put your custom panel in <adobe bridge installation folder>/Adobe Briddge CC/Adobe Bridge CC.app/Content/Application Data/Custom File Info Panels/4.0/panels
Go to your Bridge CC installation folder and then Adobe Bridge CC. On Adobe Bridge CC.app right click and select "Show Package Contents" and then go to Content/Application Data/Custom File Info Panels/4.0/panels and put your panel there.

That simply tells iTunes where to put new files.
It does not add anything to iTunes.
You should keep the entire iTunes library (iTunes media and all library files) in one location.
    Do this...
    Connect external to old computer.
Copy /Music/iTunes/ folder from internal drive to external drive.
On the external, move the iTunes media folder into the iTunes folder you just copied to the external.
Hold Option, launch iTunes, select Choose library... and select the iTunes folder on the external.
    Everything should work fine.
    Quit iTunes.
    Connect drive to new computer.
Hold Option, launch iTunes, select Choose library... and select the iTunes folder on the external.
    Everything should work fine.
This is all you need to do.
This will bring all your playlists, ratings, comments, everything from old computer.
You do not need to change the iTunes media folder location in iTunes prefs..

  • Where is the LR5 export presets folder located on Mac Mtn Lion?

    I cannot find this folder?

On Windows I can get to this folder with:
LR -> Edit / Preferences / Presets (tab) / Show LR Presets Folder (button) and this highlights the Lightroom catalog folder because I have my presets stored with my catalog.
Once I click into this highlighted folder, the Export Presets subfolder and all the rest of the presets subfolders are under a folder called Lightroom Settings.
With LR 5.2 RC, at least, it appears that the Adobe presets are internalized in LR, and only the User presets are in this folder structure.

  • Mail:Cannot erase messages from Deleted Messages folder located on my mac

    Hi,
I recently ran a script to discover that I have hundreds of thousands of messages sitting in the Deleted Messages folder located on my mac. I tried to erase them but no luck, no error messages of any kind but the messages are still there. Can anyone help with me with this as these unwanted messages are taking up a lot of space. I have run a disk verify just to check permissions etc and all is ok.
    Many thanks

    Hi,
Many thanks for you reply. Yes it looked like the deleted messages from an old exchange account I had had were sitting in a folder on my mac and this was visible in the sidebar. However it was not simply called deleted messages it was named deleted messages (xxx xxx) where xxx xxxx was the name of the old mailbox. So when I went to mailbox to erase deleted messages this folder was not picked up. So I moved everything in the folder to the trash folder (took a long time) and then selected the option to erase trash on quitting. It took hours and hours when I quit mail but I left it running overnight and now the folder is empty and mail is functioning ok. Thanks again for your help

Since Lion or Mountain Lion, we have had an annoying problem where the last folder location is not remembered in Illustrator. For example when updating links on multiple files, would like for the folder location to return to the last one used, but this would go to some folder 3 levels higher/

  • How best to move user folder to a Mac Mini + external drive

I am streamlining my desktop computer setup. Whereas before I was using a PowerMac G5 as my primary desktop computer, I realize I am using my MacBook Pro more often, so in the interests of conserving space, I will be switching over to a Mac Mini connected to my AV system for hosting all my iTunes music, videos, media, photos, etc.
Here is where I need advice. My PowerMac has a lot more media on it than can fit on the internal hard drive of a Mac Mini. I have already secured a 1 TB external drive which will be permanently connected to the Mac Mini, but I am unsure as to how to best go about copying my data to it.
My initial thought was that I could move the iTunes music folder to the external drive using the library consolidation feature, and I could copy my iPhoto library to it, then point the respective applications to the new location. However, I want the external to act as my home folder where the OS looks for all my personal data, including movies, documents, etc.
I know there is a procedure for changing your home folder's location to an external drive, but because of the limited size of the Mac Mini's internal HD, I would like to use migration assistant when I first start using the Mac Mini. Should I hold off on moving the home folder until after I have migrated, or can it be done beforehand?
Anyone have any thoughts or ideas? Thanks!

Thanks for the procedure. It seems very easy, but I am wondering about the consequences depending on when I do it. For example, let's say I first copy my entire home folder to the 1 TB external drive, set up the PowerMac to use it as my home folder, then use migration assistant to import my user accounts, applications, and settings onto the Mac Mini. Will it try to extract the data from the external drive onto the Mac Mini's internal drive? There won't be enough room for everything.
As an alternative, I can move my iTunes library and iPhoto library onto the 1 TB external first, keeping the rest of my user data in its original location. Then it can fit on the Mac Mini, and I can do the migration, then move the home folder to the 1TB external once it's all up and running on the new computer.
    Which will work best?
I had heard about people using a single drive as their home folder across multiple computers, but that is not the case for me. My MacBook Pro will become my primary computer, but I intend to keep it clear of media, whereas the MacMini will become my media server for my AV system in my living room. The 1 TB will be constantly connected to the Mac Mini, so there shouldnt be a problem with starting it up once the user folder location has been moved.

  • How to stop iTunes from looking in old media folder location?

Several years ago, I moved my iTunes media onto an external drive attached to my Airport Extreme, because I was  running out of room on the internal drive.
I had all the usual problems with iTunes looking on the internal drive, but it mostly worked okay, as long as I didn't mind only being able to access my music at home.
A few months ago, I got a 2TB internal drive, and told iTunes to use the default media folder location on the internal drive again. I also check to keep iTunes media folder organized, and to copy files to the iTunes media folder when adding them to the library. I had already manually copied the folder structure over from the external drive.
I noticed that when I would start iTunes, I would see the activity light on the external drive, and it would be mounted on my Desktop. I checked, and the location for the media folder was still correct in preferences. I checked a file or two and (this seems to be gone in iTunes 12.1) it was still showing the file location on the other drive.
I tried to manually "cut the cord" by renaming the folder on the external drive, but iTunes was cleverer than that.
What do I need to do to stop iTunes from looking for files in the old location? I'd like to reclaim that space, but I'm afraid to remove anything over there, in case iTunes has been putting things over there instead of the new, correct location.
    This is a MacBook Pro 8,2 i7, with 10.10.3 and iTunes 12.1.x.
    Thanks,
    Sean

Manually moving files yourself and telling iTunes where to store media in preferences does not do what oh so many people who come here with issues think it does. Changing iTunes' media storage preferences only tells iTunes where to store new media.  iTunes still looks for old media where it last saw it, namely on your external drive.  You have to let iTunes do the relocating of the old media files by consolidating to the internal drive.  It will cheerfully ignore any changes you do in Finder yourself.

  • How do I Watch a folder on a Mac using Powershell?

    Hi All,
I am completely new to Powershell and would love to hear some advice.
I am setting up a network render for After Effects and my mac is the main machine. My system will automatically make an After Effects file and place it into a folder for rendering by a PC, however Powershell fails to recognize a new file in the watch folder
    on the Mac
I have set up a watch folder using the following code:
    ### SET FOLDER TO WATCH + FILES TO WATCH + SUBFOLDERS YES/NO
        $watcher = New-Object System.IO.FileSystemWatcher
        $watcher.Path = "\\MARKS-MAC-PRO\Macintosh HD\Users\snaplash\Dropbox\AEP_PROCESSING_DO_NOT_DELETE"
        $watcher.Filter = "*.aep"
        $watcher.IncludeSubdirectories = $false
        $watcher.EnableRaisingEvents = $true
    ### DEFINE ACTIONS AFTER A EVENT IS DETECTED
        $action = {$path = $Event.SourceEventArgs.FullPath
    $name = [System.IO.Path]::GetFileNameWithoutExtension($path)
    ###New-Item -ItemType directory -Path C:\Users\PC2\Dropbox\PROCESSING_DO_NOT_DELETE\$name
    start powershell.exe "cmd.exe /C 'C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC\Support Files\aerender.exe' -project $path -comp '$name' -s 0 -e 900 -output C:\Users\PC2\Dropbox\PROCESSING_DO_NOT_DELETE\$name\[#####].jpg"

    start powershell.exe "cmd.exe /C 'C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC\Support Files\aerender.exe' -project $path -comp '$name'-s 901 -e 1800 -output C:\Users\PC2\Dropbox\PROCESSING_DO_NOT_DELETE\$name\[#####].jpg"
    timeout 2
    start powershell.exe "cmd.exe /C 'C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC\Support Files\aerender.exe' -project $path -comp '$name'-s 1801 -e 2888 -output C:\Users\PC2\Dropbox\PROCESSING_DO_NOT_DELETE\$name\[#####].jpg"
    ### DECIDE WHICH EVENTS SHOULD BE WATCHED + SET CHECK FREQUENCY
        $created = Register-ObjectEvent $watcher "Created" -Action $action
         while ($true) {sleep 1}
It see's the folder on the mac, but will not recognize when a file is added. (although this is a Dropbox folder, syncing is turned off)
If I change the location to a local folder on the PC all works well, as does using Dropbox without networking
I can see the location on my PC and all read/write is enabled.
I have also Mapped that as a drive, but still to no avail.
I upgraded to Powershell 3 but cant figure where I an going wrong, any help and advice would be very very welcome!
    Thank you All!
    Mark

I was actually able to get a trimmed down version of your code to function as you intended on my computer, I used this:
    ### SET FOLDER TO WATCH + FILES TO WATCH + SUBFOLDERS YES/NO
    $watcher = New-Object System.IO.FileSystemWatcher
    $watcher.Path = "\\Server\Users\dnw\test\"
    $watcher.Filter = "*.txt"
    $watcher.IncludeSubdirectories = $false
    $watcher.EnableRaisingEvents = $true
    ### DEFINE ACTIONS AFTER A EVENT IS DETECTED
    $action = {$path = $Event.SourceEventArgs.FullPath
    $name = [System.IO.Path]::GetFileNameWithoutExtension($path)
    start powershell.exe "cmd.exe /C 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\notepad++.exe' -project $path -comp '$name'"
    ### DECIDE WHICH EVENTS SHOULD BE WATCHED + SET CHECK FREQUENCY
    $created = Register-ObjectEvent $watcher "Created" -Action $action
    while ($true) {sleep 1}
It waited until I placed a .txt file in the folder noted, and then fired up notepad++

  • Can you "lock" iTunes Media Folder location?

One of the things I hate about iTunes is that I keep my music collection on an external hard drive with mirrored RAID array. Songs I buy are automatically transferred onto that drive. But sometimes, the hard drive will go offline, for whatever reason - a power issue, bumped by someone, whatever. When that does happen, iTunes doesn't give you a warning, it just defaults to the internal Music folders. Until you realize that the hard drive is offline, every CD you rip, every song you buy will go straight to the iTunes folder on the Mac. When you finally reconnect that hard drive, and redirect iTunes to the iTunes Media Folder on it, you're hopelessly lost, with your music collection distributed between the two drives.
First off, WHY can't iTunes notify you that it can't find the designated iTunes Media Folder? It'll notify you about just about every single other bloody thing that happens in the computer?
Second, is there a way to LOCK the iTunes Media Folder onto another drive, such that iTunes can't find the iTunes folder on the Mac HD?
Third, is there an easy way to scan the library on my Mac HD and on the external HD to find out which files are missing from the external HD and need to be manually added to the library?
    ks in advance!
    Than

Hi Jonathan, it annoyed the heck out of me too. Answers to your questions:
No idea, it’s probably trying to be “helpful”.
I don’t believe you can lock iTunes the way you want, but you CAN stop iTunes from running WITHOUT THE DRIVE YOU WANT I got sick of manually transferring songs when this happened to me too. In my case my library is on a network server (NAS). I wrote the following AppleScript to deal with the situation and it will work for any externally connected drive, network, USB, FireWire etc.
So to explain the script: I’m asking Terminal to list the directory contents of the iTunes Library folder on the external drive. If it can, it makes iTunes start. If it can’t (the “on error” bit), it beeps at you and displays a dialog box that tells you it cannot start. I then save the script as an App, and give it the same icon as iTunes has, but a different name (‘iTunes Custom Launcher” for example). Then I remove iTunes from the Dock and put my custom launcher in the Dock instead. Doing this means the only odd thing you will see is that when the launcher starts iTunes, there will seem to be two iTunes icons in the Dock, but only while iTunes is running.
    — Start of script
    tell application "Terminal"
              try
do shell script "ls \"/Volumes/Music/iTunes Library\""
                        tell application "iTunes" to activate
              on error
      beep
display alert "iTunes will not start until the Network Music Library is available"
              end try
    end tell
    tell application "Terminal" to quit
    quit
    — End of script
In order to use the script, you will need to replace the folder location of the iTunes Library. If you’re not familiar with Terminal, see what Finder says the name of the Disk (or network share) is when it is connected. Assuming your iTunes Library is called “iTunes Library”, the format of the third line of the script is:
do shell script “ls \"/Volumes/<disk or share name>/<folder>/<sub-folder…>iTunes Library\"”
If, like me, your iTunes Library folder is at the root of the external drive, you only need to replace <disk or share name> with the drive name and forget about the <folder>/<sub-folder…> bit. If you’re not sure what to do to the script let me know and we can do more Q&A to see exactly what you need to make the script look like.
    So, the main steps:
Open the AppleScript Editor and copy/paste the script into the blank window
Save the script as “iTunes Custom Launcher” and choose to save it as an Application.
Copy/Paste the app into your Applications folder using Finder
To give the new app the same icon as iTunes has (optional), in the Applications folder, select iTunes and copy it. Do a “Get Info" on your new app and select the little icon in the top-left of the info screen so it has a blue outline, then do command-V (paste).
Remove iTunes from the Dock and add your new app.
For your question 3, I would just go into the music folders of whoever logs on to your mac and manually move whatever folders for artists/albums/songs are there; it should be the last time
Let me know if you need more help

  • Fix "Folder Location" in Display

I have a 2011 iMac that I transfered all my files to from a PC.  I had to buy Photoshop Elements 8.0 in order to transfer my catalogue of 10,000 images with all the tags and albums etc into the Organizer for the mac.  I understand that once images are imported into Organizer, all file management (moving images or folders that contain images) has to occur through Organizer (unlike Picasa) otherwise the catalogue can't locate the images.
If you move images in the Finder you must then search in Organizer to Relocate the image and Reconnect them with the catalogue.  I found this out the hard way. I think that Photoshop ought to correct this to be able to move and have the catalogue find the images regardless how they are moved as file management should be able to occur either way.  However, I know that you can do file management of images within Organizer and the Catalogue by chosing Folder Location view in the Display pull down on the upper right corner.  However, there is a glitch.  After I move images from one file or Folder Location to another in the Display, the Display does not accurately show where the new images are located.  I find that some images are shown where I moved them and some in the adjacent folder.  Yet, if I check the actual location in Finder they ARE moved to the designated folder.  IE the Folder Location view does not reflect where the images actually are after you move them.  This is a big problem if you have to do file management through Organizer because Folder location doesn't accurately show where images are.
Finally, I've played with Picasa and while I like the option for viewing ALL images chronologically like Photoshop, I also like the idea of being able to view images by the folder location.  Folder Location in Photoshop could do this, but it only displays the lowest folder of image, rather than being able to click on a folder in Folder Location and show all the images in that folder by sub folders.
Any body else have this problem with images not correctly shown where they are in Folder Location under Display or want the option how to view images?

  • Working folder & template questions (Mac and Win)

I'm using Captivate for Mac (both 5.5 and 6). In the recording preferences (Project Info) there is a field for "Working folder" for FMR in Captivate 5.5 or Video Demo in Captivate 6.
For new blank projects, it appears that the Working folder is automatically generated to have a path name:
    /private/var/folders/.....
Question #1: Where is this location on a Mac? (I can't find it.)
Question #2: Is this location different from the "Adobe Captivate Cached Projects" folder in my Documents folder on a Mac?
On a related topic, a client has provided me with a template that currently has this path for the Working folder:
    C:\Users\JaneSmith\AppData\Local\Temp\CP344026233798Session\ForFMR344026233908
Obviously, this path is valid only on Jane Smith's Win PC and is useless for any other Captivate user, whether on Windows or Mac. In fact, when I modify certain default preferences for this template, I get an error message: "The specified working folder could not be created. Please enter a valid location to continue." So I have to change it to a local Mac path.
Question #3: Which location do I use for the Working folder? Do I use the "/private/var/folders/" location (wherever that is). Do I create any old folder? Or do I use the "Adobe Captivate Cached Projects" folder?
Question #4: I need to share this modified template with several Captivate users working on this project (could be using either Mac or Windows). If a template contains a working folder specific to my computer, must every user re-modify the template and re-set the working folder location for his/her specific computer?
Question #5: If I'm not mistaken, temp/working folders for similar software are usually set at the application level, not the project/document level. Is there a good reason why that convention isn't followed in Captivate?

    Howdy carpetjim,
When you change the folder location like that, it changes where new songs and media are stored. To actually load the library you need to do this:
Steps to create or choose a different iTunes Library file
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you are using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu and choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
If you are using the Mac, open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option key.
You should see one of the following screens:
    Additional information
If you do not see one of the screens above, then you did not hold the correct key at the correct time. You may want to try again. Note that if you pinned iTunes to the Start menu programs, and open it that way, it may not work.
