XNJB problems with Macbook & Zen Vision:

Hello all...
I'm contemplating purchasing a Macbook. I only got my Zen a few weeks ago, but off of Ebay, so it's unreturnable (plus I love it).
So my question is, how many of you have had major problems using XNJB to support your music? Can you upload music on to your Zen from your Macbook with the program? What are the biggest problems?
And finally, please try to convince me whether or not I should buy a Macbook or a Dell laptop, whether all the hassle that comes along with it is worth it with a Macbook.
Thanks much
Barbara

I use Widows XP Professional SP3 and Windows XP Professional x64 SP2 with medially .

  • Problems with my zen vision m

about a week ago my zen started acting vrey strange. i turned it off and then an hour ago i turned it back on and it was stuck on the ZEN screen. I would have to drain the battery really low before i could?get it to the actual menu. i also had to keep rebuilding it. then all my music files were gone, but all my video files were still there. so then i switched my Zen to recovery mode. i tried the disk clean up, but that didn't work. Then i tried to upgrade the firmware, that didn't help either. so i tried to format it, didn't work. but now i have a whole new problem. every time i turn it on, it looks like it's fine, but then the screen says "Fimware Problem". I updated the firmware so it should be fine, right? but i'm still having problems. I'm completely confused. could anyone help me out?

hi, i also got the same problem with my creative vision m 30gb, it just happened earlier today. when i turn on my vision m, it just stay on the welcome screen and it doesn't continue, i tried resetting it but nothing happens, and i hear a clicking sounds on zen. what seems to be the problem? any help please.

the newest firmware that is viable for the Zen Vision:M 60GB already
on my Zen Vision:M 60GB, firmware version .2.02e, sometimes the
clean up in the service mode works fine, had also a situation
that everything went so bad that it lockedup when I turned my Zen on,
had then to refresh the firmware and lost all my music on its hard dri've,
costed me hours to get everything back on it.
Please, Creative do something about these lockups bring new firmware out
    that solves these problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please start supporting the Zen Vision:M 60GB again.

  • Problem with my zen vision:m 30

hello, i have a problem with my zen. I've reload my zen all the night (with a special chager), i can't turn it on, when i connect it to my pc, there is a light blue, but my pc dont detect it, there is a "!" yellow in the periph settings... I have recovery 2 times, after that it work some minutes, but i cant put music or photos in my zen, the software and my pc dont detect it, i have xp pro sp2, windows media player . I cant recovery the zen with the special tools because it isnt detect by my pc... Thanks for ur help
    sorry for my bad english

The first step is to do a cleanup >reboot on the player if that don't work? then while connected uninstall thru Device Manager, reboot computer then plugin to have Windows find & reinstall the player, if that? doesn't work then format, cleanup>reboot player to see if that solves the problem. loosing files is a last resort . Whatever you do DO NOT choose RELOAD FIRMWARE as you don't have recognition from the computer & can not reload it. RELOAD firmware ERASES the firmware making the player useless until it can be reloaded. Link for resue/recovery access on player? http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ap&thread.id=3

  • There's video problems with my Zen Vision:M already (M video cable related) Please help

    Some background...
System:Windows XP with Service Pack 2.
Player: Brand new Creative Zen Vision: M with no firmware updates.
My Zen Vision:M has a problem (besides the scratch and fingerprint attracting top surface): It won't play videos on a TV screen when the M Video Cable (also from Creative) is linked to it anymore. It's only been a few hours...
I had the cable already, and got the player today. I let the player charge to /4th of a battery while I was setting up all the software. I ran the software programs just to take a peek, only changing the name of my player (to my name). I used Winamp 5.3 to put a music track on the player to test it. After that, I hooked it up to the VCR in my room through the white and yellow A/V plugs in front. It worked just fine. It to the tv a little large, but I was okay with it.
Later on today, the new AC charger I ordered came in the mail (Player came through UPS, charger through USPS). I looked at my old charger (Creative Zen Touch) and realized it would work with the plug-in part of the sync unit at the bottom. I tested it for a minute and it did. I still took it out and tried the new one. This is where, I think, something happened. I had to press the sides to get the thing in, and it was hard to come out. Everything still fit just right, and nothing seemed to be wrong. I used my old charger as I added more of my music library. Now it was on to videos. I had to convert the first two test vids (they were .wmv), but they played on my player fine. I put a bigger .wmv file onto the player to see if it had to convert it, and it did. It still played on the player. When I go to hook it to the TV with the A/V cord again, there was nothing but a black screen with the occasional diagonal scan line. The sound is still there.
Besides quirks with the navigational system, the player is still great for music and video. Still, I needed no video capability, and one of the things that made the ZVM a buy for me was watching my vids on the big screen. I'd return this for a second try, but I want to know if this is a recurring issue with you guys and if there's something I can do to fix it before a return. Did I mess with a setting? Should I get new firmware? Did I do wrong using my old charger? If any of you have an answer, or need more info on my situation, please let me know.
And BTW, does anyone know of some better software for organizing files on the ZVM? I used Winamp for my Zen Touch and the music on my ZVM, but videos are another ballpark. I can't transfer a video from one folder to another folder (assuming both folders are on the ZVM). Not to mention the music I transferred using Winamp isn't even showing up in Windows Media Player. I think I need a different program altogether.

I have got a new Creative Zen Vision W and getting the same problem....when i attach to the tv then i am able to hear the audio content and the video does not show. Are we missing something ? or is it a problem with the player. Also the software provided with the Zen converts small .vob files to .wmv when ever the size is large it gives an error 'conversion?unsucessful'.Any body facing similar problems please help.

  • Problem with the Zen Vision

So I go to turn on my Zen Vision: M this afternoon. It was working fine all day.
However, this time it did not turn on.
Instead it displayed an icon on the screen.
It shows the Zen with a caution sign beside it.
This Icon still remains on the screen.
    The TouchPad buttons are lighted.
Any help on how to fix this would be appreciated.
    By the way;
I had the "blinking blue light on top" problem yesterday, fixed it though by charging it for a few hours. Thought i'd mention it if it relates to the current problem i'm having.
    Thanks in advance

Have you tried resetting it's (Stick a needle or something long and thin into the small hole at the base of the player, near where you put the USB dock)

  • Problem with my Zen Vision:M. HE

I've just bought my brand new Zen Vision:M. I think its really good, but I've got a problem with it. Yesterday I turned on a movie on it, and I got a error messagethat said that the soundtrack wasn't supported. Then itturned itself of. I've tried to charge it, but it doesn't even get the contact withmy pc! And on the top of the player the blue light is flashing. Anyone know what to do?

Sounds like the battery didn't get fully charged before you first used it. The unit shut itself off. If the battery is too low it won't turn on so it won't be seen by the PC.
If while plugged into the PC the blue light on top is flashing, then that is a good thing.
It means that it should be charging.
When it gets to enough of a charge level to turn on it will. Leave it attached to the PC overnight to charge and you should be good to go.
Will have to see if the error still happens when it has a full battery charge.

  • Problems with a Zen:Vision M Gig

Ok so when I plug my Zen into the computer from any USB port it will recognize it for about 30 seconds to a minute then it will no longer recognize it. During that time I can access it drag and drop through the explorer but not matter if I do nothing or try to add something it always loses connection. I have Unistalled and reinstalled the MTP driver and when I either uninstall and reinstall it will recognize the player again for a short while and then will lose it again. I am running Windows XP with service pack 3. Any idea what could be causing this?

Could this be your problem here? http://forums.creative.com/creativel...read.id=206650

  • Problem with Creative Zen Vision

ok, I just got this thing. i plugged it into my computer but the battery charging screen never appeared. So i unplugged it and i noticed the top light remains on no matter what. I tried turning it on, but the screen stays blank. I tried resetting it, but the top light turns off as I hold the reset button and turns back on after i release it. I connected it to my computer. I've tried to turn it on by holding the on button, but it the screen remains blank. Through it all, the top light has not turned off. The screen has not shown a single thing, not a charging or anything.

I just got mine today. This the way it works--make sure it's plugged into a computer USB 2.0 port and not a USB hub. The power light will blink. After say 20 to 45 minutes of charging finally the blinking battery and thunderbolt indicator will come on. Some people here thinks the chargings done when the battery goes to full--not so--wait til the lightning bolt goes off. I tired of waiting and soaked in a hot tub. When I came back the screen was completely blank---it will do that after finished charging. I'd say 5 and a half hours for a full charge. The power button also stopped blinking. With the USB cable still plugged in turn on the power again--provided you have XP service pack 2 and WMP 0 installed on your computer a splash screen will come up and you have the option to synch with WMP 0. Select it and I like manual. Choose your songs from your library and synch away. I did 520 songs in a little over 0 minutes. Shut down power, unplug. Enjoy on the go. The battery can be recharged from any state as it is lithium-ion. Really the thing works well--I dont understand the problems people are having. Just takes some close monitoring at first to catch on the way it behaves in its operation.
A solid 9. I'll give it a 0 after I get it 2 work 2 morrow and find that the win2000 trick with the driver and wmp 9 works.

  • Serious Issues with Creative Zen Vision M 3

This all started when I was fast forwarding through a track and it freezes. So, I did reset and it's in recovery mode, whereas usually it will just restart again. So I tried turining it on and off and was still stuck in Recovery Mode. Tried plugging it into the computer, the computer doesn't recognize it. I did everything the website told me to, but my computer will not recognize that it is plugged into the usb. When I have it docked it will not let me do anything at all. I tried to clean it up and it stays in "scan disk" for hours,I tried to format it, knowing it would erase everything but hoping it would fix, and when I tried to format it, I got a message saying "harddisk problem", when I rebbot it simply reboots back to Recovery Mode and the other option I have is reload firmware, and it prompts me to start updating firmware, but my computer won't even recognize that it is plugged in , in the first place, so I am at a loss with what to do next. The best help Creative can give me is email support. As most of you probably have found out there is no technical support phone number, only for returns/exchanges. I am using Windows Vista if that makes a difference, which it probably does since nothing seems to work on Winows Vista, and when I look at My computer, it shows that the device is present, but yet I can't access it through any media source or when trying to install this firmware? garbage. Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thank you in advance. Sarah

  • I need help with my Zen Vision M.. PLEASE HELP

Hey, I'm having sooo much trouble with my Zen Vision M... so i was wondering if anyone could help me out.. i hav a couple of ?s that i desperately need answered. . All of my album art is the same and its driving me crazy. How do i change the album art?2. Is the battery in the Vision M removable?3. Can Zen Vision M shuffle songs?4. I used to have an Ipod.. i was wondering if?i could directly transfer songs from itunes to Zen MediaSource?~~~~~~~~~?Any help will be really helpful! Especially if?someone can help me with the album art!! THANKS GUYS!!

. All of my album art is the same and its driving me crazy. How do i change the album art???Not an easy answer for this one without knowing more about how you are setting the album art.
There are two types of album art embedding.
One is where the album art is embedded directly in the tags of every Mp3 file. (a bit waste of space)? The second option (which is the more common method) is where each file has embeded information pointing to an external image for the album art. This is more efficient on space, and is often the one that end up with people having the same art on every song.
Usually what happens is people put the songs in a common directory and not in subdirectories such as Artist/Album/mysong.mp3. With all the files in one flat directory often the album art (depending on software) gets saved with the same filename such at album.jpg.
And he album.jpg file gets overwritten, and since all the songs think "their" album art is in the album.jpg file they all end up with the same art being displayed.
Easiest solution is to copy the files into folders to organize them by album, and then reapply the album art.
Since doing that on my ZVM I haven't had any problems with art getting lost or duplicated in ways I did not want. ?2. Is the battery in the Vision M removable???Unfortunatly it isn't.
?3. Can Zen Vision M shuffle songs???There are several random play options for music.
In my opinion doesn't really feal that "random" though. 4. I used to have an Ipod.. i was wondering if?i could directly transfer songs from itunes to Zen MediaSource??You will need to export them to MP3 from itunes. Checkout the Creative KB on how to do it. Its solution ID 4653.

  • Problems with my Zen V P

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could help me sort out a problem with the Zen V Plus that I bought a couple of months ago. Today the battery ran out so I plugged it into my laptop and left it to charge. After?a few hours I checked how it was going, and it was nearly full, so I decided to leave it for a bit longer so it could top?up completely. However, when I came to stop the charging, I discovered that the device no longer responds to any button that I press. Also, it isn't detected by my computer when its plugged in. I have charged it'sbefore with no problems.

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion.
