Xonar DG sound card headphone amplifier not working

Hi, I have an Asus Xonar DG sound card. The sound is working fine, however it is very quiet. It seems that the headphone amplifier is not working - or, I cannot find a way to set the impedance.
I have alsa running and tried messing with alsamixer settings. Also, I have PulseAudio installed, but pavucontrol offers limited options.
How can I change the impedance level? Or how do I get the headphone amplifier to work? It seems to be supported as of kernel 3.14 - http://sourceforge.net/p/alsa/mailman/message/32973122/
Thank you!

Remove the old drivers (carefully) in Safe Mode and install the new drivers in Normal Mode.

  • Sound card installed but not work

I've just reinstalled win xp and installed the creative drivers on the cd, rebooted the computer and was getting sound fine. I went ahead and installed some other drivers and software and now I'm getting no sound. I've go to the add hardware wizard and clicked on Creative SB Audigy (which has a yellow exlamtion point next to it) and clicked next and then I get this message:
Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update. (Code 35)
This worked for me before (using the wizard to get the card working before I reinstalled win xp). I've also gone and updated my BIOS and I'm still having problems.
I've check to see if there were any IRQ conflicts through device manager and there are none but it showes that the Audigy card has the IRQ of 44.
I've also installed and reinstalled and tryied 'repair' of the drivers/software multiple times only to get nowhere and I've tried installing the driver updates off the site only to get messages saying that it can not find any sound cards installed.
    I have win xp sp2

After the sound card driver install I installed Norton Internet Security and other small programs (firefox, spampal, ect...)
    My computer is custom built:
    P4 2.4GHz
    Soyo P4X400 Dragon Ultra Platinum
    VIA Chipset
BIOS is by Award went from the 2AA6 to 2AA7 revision
    GB Ram
Windows XP SP2 installed on a 7GB partition
On board Audio is disable through the BIOS (have never used it since building the computer 2 years ago)
    Ati Radeon 9800 pro
    Ati HDTV Wonder
Drivers for both ATI cards where installed after the issue with the sound happend. Problem seemed to appear after Norton was installed.Message Edited by oobedoob on 09-2-2005 2:38 AM

  • Dv6265us connexant PCI sound card + windows 7 = Not working

So I'm here becuase I can't find a driver on my own.  I've scoured the internet for hours, finding very little to help with my issue.  So here goes...
I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 (Dv6265us), and ever since I installed window 7, Windows cannot figure out what drivers to install for the PCI sound card.  The best I've found so far says this:
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it"
"Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio"
"If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software."
Now here's the funky part...everywhere I've found information on my laptop, it says I have a Conexant PCI sound card.  If I'm wrong I would love for someone to tell me; better yet, a link to a download to actually be able to use the PCI sound card.  Right now the card is under other devices and is listed as "PCI Device".
Now the Link I've provided from the conexant site will tell you this under PC Audio Support - Windows® 7,
"Conexant develops audio solutions that are used in a wide range of products including personal computers. We provide customized audio drivers to our customers, which include major computer manufacturers globally. At the request of these manufacturers, Conexant does not provide end-user support or drivers for PC audio products. If you have an issue with the audio configuration in Windows 7, please contact the manufacturer of your computer.
I tried calling HP support, but they wouldn't even answer my yes or no question... "Do you have audio drivers for my laptop that will allow me to hear sound?"  Instead of saying yes or no, I was told that I needed to pay fifty to one-hundred dollars;....fifty dollars for a one time fee of telephone service, or one-hundred for the year.  I even went as far as asking..."if you can't fix my problem, do I get a refund?"  I was told no...so here I am.  I've had problems before with hp...but this is rediculous, and whats worse is from the way things look, Connexant was told NOT to support their own product, or provide drivers for windows 7 by their customer(HP).  I realize everyone is hurting for money, but **bleep**, this is a new low...

To answer your question, there are no windows 7 drivers for that model notebook. The notebook was designed for Windows 2000, Windows xp and windows vista.
This is one of the issues with upgrading the OS on a computer before checking the specs of the hardware.
I do understand the frustration but it would be more beneficial to revert back to the original OS that the notebook came with. That is what the HP support desk will have you do to prove functionality of the notebook should you have paid for the Diagnostic Support.

When I tried to solve this, I've noticed in system preferences it's jumping from Internal speakers to Head phone and vice versa. Can anyone help me on this issue please? I am using the original Apple Headset only.

I see that your Question has languished for some period of time without response. You have posted your issue in Using Apple Support Communities whose topic is 'How to use this forum software's interface, features and/or how to find what you wish'. It is a relatively low traffic and inappropriate forum for your problem. I will ask our Hosts to move it to " MacBook Pro " where it may get a more rapid response from your fellow users.

You might try talking to the Apple store manager and see if you don't get more help...you might also contact Apple.com/support and see if they can give you a contact with the Apple Italy offices.
Sounds like you have two levels of failure, the first shop that did the repair and broke a wire, and the second that has disabled something else and isn't helping.
Apple officially refurbished equipment is usually good quality.  Surprising this has happened but you need to press on with complaints and try for resolution.

  • One headphone does not work or works 50% of the time.  What is best way to resolve?

one headphone does not work or works 50% of the time.  What is best way to resolve?

First of all, I'd recomend resetting the iPod. Do this by pressing the 'Menu' and 'Center" buttons for 10 seconds or until the Apple logo appears.
If this doesn't work, then it sounds like a hardware fault.
To identify the issue, if you have one, try plugging the iPod into a speaker through the dock. If this works, then the issue is with the headphone jack. If not then the logic board is dead.  If the iPod is less than a year old, then it can be repaired by Apple for free. Just book an appointment for the Genius bar.
If not then, you could see about sending it to an iPod Repair Company, such as my own. A replacement headphone jack would cost £30.00 in the UK, including next day delivery. Other companies you could try would beUKiPodRepairs, but we guarantee to beat any quote that you get.

  • Internal speakers and headphones are not working

I have hp g6 2231tx os Windows 8, brought it a month ago..now it's internal speakers and headphones are not working..I enabled in playback device from sound mixer and reinstalled drivers but still not working..it's because of hardware or software??

    Hi,
It could be either Hardware or Software related, so try the following and let me know.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58517.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

    Hi there,
It sounds like your purchased content is not transfering via a flash drive. It may be easier to re-download this contnet directly from iTunes. Take a look at the article below for mor information.

  • My headphone is not working on macbook air 11

I have a macbook air 11", and after upgrading to mountain lion, my headphones are not working.
I have tried with multiple headphones and multiple software (itunes, skype, etc.), and I can´t hear.

    First, turn the volume up.
    Just kidding.
    Do the internal speakers work?
Check Audio MIDI Setup (Applications -> Utilities).
If all looks good but still no sound, ask yourself - and check - if any 3rd-party apps or drivers are installed and running (-> Login Items?) that deal with sound. Update to ML-compatible versions or completely remove them.

    Audio Service
    Multimedia Class Scheduler
    Windows Audio
    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.

  • IMPORTANT - Sound on iPod Touch not working

My iPod touch 4g has been exposed to water, and now the sound does not work. If I plug it into a docking station, the audio will work, however, when I take it off, there is no volume slider. My headphones worked earlier (whenever I plug them in, Voice Control comes up), and the audio worked fine. However, now the headphones do not work! The speakers do not work at all since water contact.
Please help me. I am panicking a lot now.
    Kai

Assuming the iPod is now dry:
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a hardware problem caused by the water.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the others. They do not fix yours.

  • HEADPHONES do not work when plugged in - iMac Intel

So I reinstalled the operating system a few months back. After completing this my headphones do not work when plugged in. I do have them plugged into the correct jack. When i plug them in the built-in speakers go silent for a second or two as if the headphones are working but then the speakers kick back in with no sound in the headphones.
The headphones worked just prior to reinstall so I'm not sure its the jack itself but something in the operating system.
I have also checked in System Preferences 'Sound' and when they are plugged in, they do not show in the devices window.
What the heck is going on? I've read in other forums that this seems to be something of a typical problem but have not found a solution to the problem.
thanks in advance for your help.

    Welcome to the discussions.
Mate, it sounds more like a system glitch than a hardware issue. I too have been experiences some 'funky' issues. However, they have all been fixed by running Onyx disc maintenance software. Install Onyx and run 'automation'. You can cancel the disc checking operations on start up and ignore the back up disclaimer. Give it a go and post back with the results.

Thanks for your suggestion. I downloaded OnyX and ran the cleaning function. After restarting, I opened Help and once again the first screen appeared fine. But again most of the links did not work, though those under the "What's New" heading did work. I might add that I had previously tried a variety of suggestions posted in another thread, which included deleting from the caches folder in Home>Library several files such as com.apple.helpui and help.plist in the Preferences folder. (As noted in my previous post this evening, I also created another user but that also did not have any effect.) Any other ideas? Thanks

If you are running Lion or Mountain Lion, the drivers are downloaded from within Bootcamp Assistant. If you are running Snow Leopard the drivers are on your Snow Leopard install disk.
