Xorg error: Failed to load module

I'm trying to configure the X server. My configuration file was generated with "hwd -xa". But when I run "startx" I get this:

I am running arch under virtualbox.
I set up Xorg according to the HOWTO wiki page for Xorg and KDE.
when I do 'startx' I get this error:

How do I solve this?
p.s. how can I copy the entire .log file to outside of virtualbox (running winxp)?

Yes it does help, why not? That way xorg won't try to load it on startup, so there will be no error. This is in /etc/X11/xorg.conf by the way.

X returns error: Failed to load module "freetype"

I'm configuring a new Arch system for the first time. Following the beginners guide in the wiki, I installed X and tested running in from the console. When I exit X I get this error:

The test of X seemed to go fine. I can move the hollow X around with the touchpad and trackpoint on my ThinkPad. But I got this error. I'm not even sure if that's all one error or multiple errors.
Should I be concerned about this? The only thing I could find that seemed to relevant was this bug report for Gentoo: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=261934. But I don't know if this is really relevant to Arch or not.

The freetype module error was in my log since I first installed X, its not fatal and I think you can just ignore it. Same for the Warnings, and according this the MTTR error is not fatal either.
For the fonts, you can try installing xorg-fonts-type1 and some ttf fonts, but I guess it would hardly make a difference.
If the test of X seems to be fine, do not be concerned and just try installing a WM! You should be allright.

Just did a downgrade and it's working again, here are my versions.

bbswitch 0.7-4
If you have conflicts, I found it easiest to remove those (bbswitch, virtualbox in my case), downgrade linux and then install the appropriate bbs/vb packages

DPS Acrobat Failed to Load Module

Hi
I cannot sign in to any of my accounts in https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com. I get the error 'Failed to Load Module'. I have tried various browsers and on different machines, but getting the same error. DPS status says its running ok. Can anyone please shed any light on this?

When the core library does not work anymore, Acrobat / Reader can no longer run because the components it depends on do not load.

Failed to load module "record"

I'm trying to install Arch Linux on my Dell GX270 with an Intel chipset I'm nusing the i686 version rather than the xf86_64 version. It has a 2.26 Ghz processor and 512mb RAM
I've tried installing xorg and configured it with hwd -xa and such but when I do startx I get:
(EE) Failed to load module "record" (module does not exist, 0)
(EE) No devices detected
lspci | grep VGA gives:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82865G Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)
Some other people seem to have had a similar problem but it was a problem with Nvidia chipsets and I have an Intel one. I tried commenting out the line of xorg.conf where it says to load module record as I've already had to comment the type1 one out but then it just says (EE) No devices detected.
Can anyone help?

It doesn't work from root either and gives the same error.
I tried blacklisting it but it didn't seem to have any effect, and I don't really understand why it would. The problem is that it doesn't seem to exist.
What does the module do anyway? I've never heard of it before and it just doesn't sound critical somehow. Googling it just returns this thread. Is it possible that the record module is just a minor thing like the type1 module which I had to comment out and the actual problem goes deeper?

Fails to load modules while lauching Xfce4 (SOLVED)

When I type "startxfce4" I get something like this:

I have no idea what it means (except that I miss some modules).

those are xorg modules
As xorg7 is modular, you'll need to install the modules you need. At least you should have for keyboard and mouse to work:
pacman -S xf86-input-mouse xf86-input-keyboard
Then you should have one for your video card
pacman -S xf86-video-{your video}
You can see which ones are available from
pacman -Ss xf86-video
Then you need to configure xorg if you haven't done so far.
As root type 'xorgconfig' for a nice script to help you configure it.

Failed to load module "pcidata"

i just did a fresh install on a new system, and am down to just configuring xorg.conf. I used hwd -xa to configure it, then went in to change the resolution and driver line. But when run startx, i get

Any ideas?

I'm using the ati driver and everything works fine. How can I get rid of these errors? How do I stop Xorg from trying to load them in the first place? I've tried blacklisting them in /etc/modprobe.d, but they still show up.

This has been discussed a couple times on the forum. It's safe to just ignore them.
Install xf86-video-modesetting, xf86-video-vesa and xf86-video-fbdev to get rid of them.

I installed today arch and the installation went well except nvidia-340xx install gave me this error messsage; now, X wont start.

NV GeForce 7600, nvidia-304xx-lts, but Failed to load module "nvidia"

I'm trying to replace nouveau driver with nvidia-304xx-lts for my NVIDIA Corporation G73 [GeForce 7600 GT] videocard.
I'm following advices at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nvidia.
I have installed the linux kernel: core/linux-lts 3.14.21-1.
I modified the script for switching from nouveau to nvidia, like:

The needed package was: nvidia-304xx because I'm using linux 3.17.1-1 kernel.

Startx = Failed to load module "record"

Hi to everyone, this is the first time i try to install arch and im having problems with X.
I have an nvidia fx5200 card and i installed the nvidia driver with pacman -S nvidia
I noticed that when i did that i uninstalled the package libgl.
I have all the repos unquoted and i also have the kde-unstable since im trying to get kde 4.1.85
I have generated the xorg.conf with nvidia-xconfig, hwd -x and renaming it and with xorgconfig, all with no results yet.
I know i should post my xorg.conf and the startx log error but i dont know how to do that from a command line,
my error is basically this:
#startx
(EE) Failed to load module "record" (module does not exist, 0)
(EE) No devices detected
Fatal server error:
No screens found
I would really appreciate any help

Executing some wine programs I get this messages:

Following the suggestion I get:

According to wine#Graphics_Drivers it is lib32-intel-dri.

Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"

I'm in the process of getting OpenBox up and running on my new Arch system. I installed obmenu to edit the menus, but when I try to run it from the terminal I get
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"
and it won't start. I get the same message when I run gedit from the terminal, but gedit actually loads. How can I resolve this?

keepassx: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/libindustrial.so: undefined symbol: gtk_check_version
for various gtk-based applications.
I've read that is fixed, https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/23655.
Using Arch 64 bit, XFCE here.
Any clue?

Changing gtk theme do the trick. I get the message, but applications start ok.
