Xorg-utils (or xorg-apps) split up
Hello,
why was the xorg-utils (or xorg-apps) package split up in ~30 single packages?
IMO it's totally dumb. These are all sometimes useful tools. Now I have to install each one by hand.
They're not even in a group or similar. I think package splitting is now going way too far. It maybe useful for docs, etc, but now????

Those applications have been split for years, ever since Xorg was forked from XFree86.
Its just Arch that had a joined package for them til late.
The Debian inspired naming is horrible btw.
edit: OK its not worst than KDE's split packages naming which was probably done that way cause pacman doesnt support groups in split packages and the each and every one had to use the module name (?), but still its absolutely uneeded.
The reasoning given which is to describe the package better (or something to that extend) can be said for any package.
For example why isnt rarian callled gnome-rarian like bdftopcf is called xorg-bdftopcf?
This is a rhetorical question, i know the answer is "cause Jan likes it that way"

Exchange 2010 Google Apps Split Delivery
The situation I'm facing is a little confusing.
Our organization has Exchange 2010 email accounts in place for all staff with an address scheme of
[email protected].
We recently signed up for Google Apps and are using the same domain name for those accounts as well.
These accounts are for our students with the address scheme of
[email protected].
With using the same domain name we are looking to a split delivery solution I’m assuming to make this work.
In theory what we are looking for would be that if an email is sent to a recipient at mydomain.com it would come through our Exchange server.
It would look for the intended email account. If it were for a staff member an account would be present and the mail would stop there.
However if it were for a student it would not find the account and then pass through to Google’s servers by way of a send receiver.
I have set up the send receivers according to the documentation from the following website:
http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/38537-ms-exchange-and-google-apps-split-delivery-for-single-domain-name-k-12-school-sample-shown
These steps include-
Setting the accepted domain from “Authoritative” to “Internal Relay”
Setting up a send connector to point to Google’s servers with a cost of 1 to make it priority.
Since we currently have a send connector setup to route email out through our spam filter, that would go to a cost of 2.
The issue seems to be that when the send connector that is pushing the mail to Google’s servers is set to a cost of 1, giving it priority, it then creates a send loop for the staff members sending
email from Exchange.
The Google student accounts do not receive any mail from outside without a send connector in place to tell the emails to go to the Google servers to look for those accounts since our MX records
point to our spam filter. I know I have read multiple place that it would be easier to have the MX records point to Google for the domain and then set up routing on that end to push email to unknown accounts to our Exchange server, however
we would like to route it the opposite of that.
Please let me know if I have overlooked anything, however at this point I’m stumped.
Thank you for your time. What are the namespaces on the two connectors ?
Cheers,
Rhoderick

Music app splitting one podcast into two - why?
I have a 4th gen iPod Touch running iOS 6.1.6 - newest available. I listen to podcasts through the standard Music app. For some reason I have one podcast that shows up as two on that app - even though they have the same name. AND in iTunes on my Mac it is a SINGLE podcast that contains all of the episodes - including the six that are split out on the iPod. No change in the stream location; no change in the podcast name; nothing different between the meta fields when you do "get info" on the podcasts. In that separate podcast on the iPod, there are 6 podcasts (un-played) from 2012. Everything in the "main" podcast that is un-played is 2013 or newer.
I done a lot of googling and can find nothing on split podcasts other than when the actual podcast changed its name or the stream location. This is not the case here.
Any ideas???This thread helps you, at least Brian's answer:

At least this was the resolution for me. -
Script/utility to automate app/file quit & open after Mac wakes up
Hi all,
I'm looking for a utility or a script which allows to quit a running app/file (say word, running a doc) before the Mac goes to a set SLEEP MODE, and also need that same app/file to start 5-10 seconds right after the Mac wakes from the sleep mode setting.
Thank you for your answers/directions on this! You want Sleepwatcher: http://www.bernhard-baehr.de/

Is there an utility that allow "Apps" menu in menu bar?
Lo, all these many years and I still think the dock is inferior to the pre-X option of having all the apps in a pull-down menu under the apple. (Accomplished through third-pary utility, if I'm not mistaken.)
Is there a utlity today that puts the contents of the Applications folder in the menu bar?And lo, all these years later there is still AppleScript and you should be able do that by writing a script and activating scripts in your menubar.
As I recall it looks/works exactly like that screenshot of Xmenu. Except I don't see Utilities on the Xmenu. Is it hierarchal, because AppleScript is? -
HELP!!! Disk Utility, Network Utility and other apps gone!!!
I had an admin account with these on its desktop. Monitor, Disk Utilty, Network Utility, OnyX, etc (mostly maintenence tools). I had to erase the admin account and now I can't find them anywhere! I tried reinstalling OSX bundled software only, it installed fine and I still can find these utilites... have I erased them permanently?
Am I gonna have to do a complete OS X reinstall?Activity Monitor not Utility Monitor. I found out the last app! I knew I did this for a reason:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/glissonfam/459489845/
I'm a very visual person and I take an automated snapshot of my desktops every day or so just in case. Tech Tool Deluxe! I can reinstall from my Apple Care software. Phew...
Thanks alot guys I really appreciate all the help! All is well! -

put this same new .ipa into itunes and i can push it to the ipad no prob... weirdnessSorry to hear that, but thanks for sharing that with us.
Perhaps you'd like to ask a question? -
Hi everyone,
My apps are split over 2 Apple IDs - which makes updating them annoying.
Is there any way to move them over to just 1 of them?
Thanks,
JCIs there any way to move them over to just 1 of them?
Only iTunes support could do so. If they do, they will add the apps to the download queue for the ID you want to continue to use. You can contact them here:

What's the App or Utility to see App legacy pre-Intel?
I have done it before, but I can't recall how: What is the App or Utility that shows the legacy of software? Especially pre-Intel stuff?
TIA,
PicmanIf you're trying to identify which programs on your Mac aren't "Universal" or "Intel", pull down the Apple menu, select "About This Mac", click on "More Info", then select "Applications" in the "Software" group on the left. In the resulting window you may want to shrink the left-most columns so that the "Kind" volume is visible.

I successfully downloaded Adobe Flash Player (I thought) to my hard drive from the Adobe site. However, when I tried to launch it I got a message indicating that it was not on my drive as a default program. I then went and opened "All My Apps program" and there it was, captured by this utility as if it was downloaded from there;"All My Apps" is a utility for free downloads also.It has become very aggressive and launches itself at start-up! I thought to remove it from the start-up program files but it continues and now has hijacked my Adobe, amongst other applications. Please advise a/some solutions! The version of Adobe Flash Player that I installed is:10,3,183,5 running on Windows 7, Internet Explorer 8, 64Bit,with no debugger.
Here's a link to the direct download, which should give you a .exe that you can double click. Please note though that you need to run the 32 bit version of Internet Explorer with this version, not the 64 bit.
http://www.adobe.com/go/full_flashplayer_win_ie
Why won't Flash Player work with Internet Explorer 64-bit?
Thanks,

[PROBLEM SOLVED] After last update, Can't use keyboard in Xorg
Apparently the last system upgrade installed "xf86-input-keyboard-1.3.2-1-i686" but I reverted back to "xf86-input-keyboard-1.3.1-1-i686" and everything is working again.
Lesson learned: put all xorg related packages to hold because my geforce2 mx440 won't need updates.
This is just frustrating. After doing a system upgrade (which upgraded xorg to version 1.5) I can't use the keyboard anymore. In fact, my screen would freeze also, as long as I was using the latest Xorg version. This machine's card is a geforce2 mx440.
So I downgraded xorg-server with pacman -Rd xorg-server and pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/xorg-server-yadayada1.4yadayada; Fine, I can use the mouse and open X just as normal as before. BUT the keyboard seems helpless.

What in hell means the (EE) No Input driver matching `kbd'? I have no idea what happened because no configs were changed whatsoever.

Perhaps you can find some help here http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xor … otplugging (or in one of the many threads about xorg 1.5 breaking input devices)
No Idea about your problem after downgrading (expect just as a guess, there is some problem with xbinkeys when it is autostarted with the window manager -- http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=65468). -
Upgraded to Xorg 7.0 - Where is GLXgears?
I have just upgraded to xorg 7.0. glxgears and glxinfo are no longer present on my system. What is the package that I need to install to get them back?

Thanks Snowman. I had read that it was in mesa-apps on one post, but that package doesn't seem to exist any more. I tried xorg-apps, and such a package DOES exist. I d/l'd it - that worked, but no GLXgears. Not sure WHAT I got from that package actually.
I had read that mesa was somehow outdated and dangerous now - one of many posts I read while searching the forums for answers. Do I run the risk of breaking anything if I download and install it? These days it seems that every time I install anything new, I break a bunch of other stuff. Rolling release is great, but only if you keep up with it all the time!
Thanks.
This is all outdated information.
glxinfo and glxgears were in mesa-apps but recently they were moved in the mesa package.
The part about mesa unsafe was that before the splitted xorg 7.0, there was a mesa package in extra that could conflict/cause problems with the mesa drivers from xorg. This is no longer the case. That mesa package in extra has been removed and the mesa package in current is the one from xorg. There shouldn't be any problem using mesa.
Run 'pacman -Ql xorg-apps' to see what's in xorg-apps.

Hi, After updating to the AMD 13.1 drivers, on my 5770, Firefox will not launch; it does, however, show in the task manager. I should note that it will start in Windows safe mode; when I had it open in safe mode, I used that time to disable all plugi

CCX Wallboard - Determining If Agent Is On Phone
Using uccxhruser on CCX 8, my wallboard is set up. It is pulling agent eventType and reasonCode from the AgentStateDetail table. Works great. I need to know if there is a way to determine if an agent is in an outbound call, regardless of their stat
