Xorg won't start - gives Connection Refused error

I'm trying to use Xorg, I have it configured with Xorg -configure and all that, but when dtlogin tries to start it reports these errors in it's logfile:
XIO: fatal IO errors 146 (Connection Refused) on X server ":0.0"^M
(the ^M is part of the message as well)
Any ideas?

Hi Reasons,
Your problem seems to appear atfer loading the libglx module:
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions//libglx.so
Maybe you're having this issue described in nouveau's wiki: http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/InstallNouveau
9. Now start Xorg and run for cover. If you used the the nvidia blob before, the X server may possibly not start because NVIDIA overwrites the libglx.so which the X server provides with it's proprietary libglx.so. If that happens, install the X server package from your distribution again to resetore the original libglx.so and make a backup copy of it in case you install the blob again.

  • JNDI Connection refused error

    HI
    I am new to Java so please excuse my stupid questions and general lack of ignorance. I am trying to connect to an Oracle database using JNDI to retrieve a Datasource using a 'data-source.xml' file but I get a 'Connection refused' error I am at a total loss at what this can be, I just have a simple Java Class which gets an InitialContext then does a lookup from here but this is were it fails.
    Could anybody give me any idea as to where to look. Could it be a problem with the JNDI server itself?. I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3 and am just trying to run it in the embedded server.
    Sorry for the general rambling nature of this post and please ask me to provide any extra information required.
    Any help would be much appreciated as I'm going nowhere with this at the moment and very frustrated as have searched everywhere with no results.
    Thanks
    Andy

    Hi
    Thanks for the reply. I have checked my data-sources.xml and this all seems fine. I can even connect to the DB using DriverManager rather than the JNDI method. One thing that confuses me is which data-sources.xml it is using as there appear to be many. In JDeveloper you can specify the data sources in 'embeeded oc4j preferences' plus create your own under meta-inf. Which is being used when run in embedded, maybe thats obvious the first one?
    thanks once again

  • Connection refused error while connecting to port.

    Hello,
    I have a service (Connect Direct) listening at port 1364 in server X.
    $ netstat -an | grep 1364
    11.22.33.44.1364 *.* 0 0 0 0 LISTEN
    (Assume 11.22.33.44 = Server X's IP.)
    Now, when another server (say Y) tries to use this service in server X, it is getting "Connection Refused" error. I tried telneting.
    From Y:
    telnet 11.22.33.44 23 is working
    telnet 11.22.33.44 1364 is giving the same Connection Refused error.
    telnet 11.22.33.44 1364
    Trying 11.22.33.44...
    telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
    /usr/sbin/ping 11.22.33.44
    11.22.33.44 is alive
    To complicate things, 11.22.33.44 is not the original IP of server X.
    ifconfig -a gives:
    hme0: flags=863<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
    inet 11.22.33.55 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 11.22.33.255
    hme0:1: flags=843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
    inet 11.22.33.44 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 11.22.33.255
    (in additional to a couple of other IPs).
    What could be the problem?
    Help!!!!

    IPF firewalling could cause this, if you have it enabled.
    I havent used it, so I'm not entirely sure how to check.
    Of another firewall if its between the 2 machines. Are they on the same subnet?

  • Connection Refused Error In Connection Client

    Hello Geeks
    I am runnig a RMI application in which runs on internet , i have setup RMI server on a host server and it is running there.
    Now, when i try to call client using ip address of the Host , i am getting Connection Refused error.
    Example :
    Registry registry=LocateRegistry.getRegistry("70.33.246.110");
    System.out.println("Above connectMe");
    String  serverName = "rmi://70.33.246.110:2786/connectUser";
    connectMe stub=(connectMe)Naming.lookup(serverName);
    System.out.println("Below connectMe");
    boolean log=stub.login(username,password,1);
    System.out.println("Below login");Here "connectuser" is name i have given in server to which client lookups.I am getting -> Above connectMe and Below connectMe
    but then i am getting connection refused error.

    Registry registry=LocateRegistry.getRegistry("70.33.246.110");There's no point to doing that ...
    System.out.println("Above connectMe");
    String serverName = "rmi://70.33.246.110:2786/connectUser";
    connectMe stub=(connectMe)Naming.lookup(serverName);... if you're doing that. The getRegistry() doesn't do a network operation, it just constructs a stub to that Registry locally. Only by using it would you find out whether it meant anything: and you're not using it.
    I am getting -> Above connectMe and Below connectMe
    but then i am getting connection refused error.See item A.1 on the RMI Frequently Asked Questions list in the Javadoc.

    Ok, this is my big big problem..
    One day, i was just doing nothing on my dear computer, starting up firefox or something, then suddenly everything stopped. I couldn't do anything. I forced-restarted the computer with the boot-button. When im trying to start it over again, i get to the white startup-screen with the apple-icon in the middle, with the loading-circle underneath it. After a while, the apple-icon changes to a grey stop sign (picture of it further down).
    So, what have i tried?
    Trying to boot with CD, says i can't install Mac OS, but i can go into the Disk utility, Verify Disk / Repair Disk:

    When starting the computer holding down SHIFT-button, i get a white screen with black text, and a square saying 'You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button until it turns off, then press the Power button again." The black text in the foreground says:

    Something like that.....

    There is this Apple Knowledge Base article, which describes your issue:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1892?viewlocale=en_US
    However, it sounds as though you have tried most of what's there. If it won't allow you to reinstall the OS, then there is definitely something amiss with your hard drive.
    Sometimes a third-party disk utility (such as Drive Genius) can repair a drive when Apple's own Disk Utility cannot.
    Good luck with it.

  • Lion Server postfix mail not being delivered to mailboxes. "SMTP restriction `reject_invalid_helo_hostname' after `permit' is ignored" and "connect to private/policy: Connection refused" errors.

    All, Im stumped. In fact I have been on the phone with Apple Support and this has been escalated to the top engineers, as I think its got them too..
    Anyway, here is my problem..
    I'm running an Mac Mini with OS X 10.7.4 Server. I have had mail running on it for 2 months or so, without any issues. The mail was actually migrated from 10.6 in March, and It actually went smoothly. I have 3 domains which all recieve mail and they all work (or did up until 2 weeks ago)..
    So the story is this.. I can send mail from my domains, without issue.  imap and dovecot must be working.. cause all the stored mail, can be read with the mail IMAP client.. I can even transfer mail messages from one mailbox to another with Mail client. Sending mail is a breeze, it still works and the recipients still recieve their mail. But I noticed I wasnt getting any mail at all from those mailboxes... no mail, no spam, nothing.. which is unusal. I fired up Server admin and checked out the SMTP log, and this is what it showed for every email recieved: (xxxxxx is just me hiding sensitive info)

    Ok, now what is odd, is these rejected messages are not even appearing in the mail queue in Server Admin. I have no idea why there are not being delivered
    Ive checked my postfix main.cf file and master.cf files they both look ok.. Ive even replaced them with the main.cf.defualt.10.7 and master.cf.default.10.7 files and to no avail... same problem..
    So in summary
    I can send mail out
    IMAP is working on the client end (thus dovecot is) exsisting stored emails can be accessed, read, moved unread etc..
    mail is coming into the sever, but its being rejected. there is NO rejection email sent back to the sender.
    mail is recieved by postfix, but cyrus isnt doing anything with it.. I have no idea where it goes...
    Could anyone shed light on this...

    # to $mydestination, $inet_interfaces or $proxy_interfaces.
    # If this parameter is defined, then the SMTP server will reject

    # local_recipient_maps = (i.e. empty).
    # The default setting assumes that you use the default Postfix local

    # local_recipient_maps setting if:
    # - You define $mydestination domain recipients in files other than
    #   /etc/passwd, /etc/aliases, or the $virtual_alias_maps files.
    #   For example, you define $mydestination domain recipients in
    #   the $virtual_mailbox_maps files.
    # - You redefine the local delivery agent in master.cf.
    # - You redefine the "local_transport" setting in main.cf.
    # - You use the "luser_relay", "mailbox_transport", or "fallback_transport"

    Ok 1st one. The warning restriction message relates to this line in main.cf:
    smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated  permit_mynetworks  check_helo_access hash:/etc/postfix/helo_access  reject_non_fqdn_hostname  reject_invalid_hostname  permit reject_invalid_helo_hostname
    The last reject occurs after the single word "permit" and is ignored.
    However, that's not the problem.
    I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but this might be a clue.
    It would appear that either postfix is not being able to create the socket for private/policy or it's somehow created with the wrong permissions.  You might need to ramp up the debug level to get a better idea.
    You could check if it's being created by "netstat -a | grep private/policy" in terminal.
    My guess is that it's not being created because there is no setup statement in your master.cf file, but I don't understand why postfix would be looking for it if it isn't set up.  Private/policy I think relates to grey listing.  Maybe gives you a hint.

    I have clean virtual machine with Win2k3 SP1 without any other software except NW 04s SP 16 Sneak Preview (I had not installed patch EP6KMC16P_2-10002972.sar  located at the distr package). I had not modified anything since I had installed it. All is by default. I believe that system id is J2E and system number is 00. In any case I have tried other possible values. My host name (msk-krf5pzoq4) contains 13 symbols, I think that is allowed.
    When I am trying to create server in SAP GUI I recieve 'Message server could not find any applicaion server' error, though ALL lights in SAP MMC are green and I am able to logon to SAP NW AS web management interface (http://localhost:50000/nwa). Also, I have no 'SAP Netweaver 2004s' item in Start menu, only MMC console. Maybe I should install something else?
    I am stucked for 2 days with the problem(

    Hi Ivan,
    As you mentioned, it is possible to connect to <a href="http://localhost:50000">http://localhost:50000</a>. Go there and choose System Information. Log in and on the information page you will see the required message server port to connect to the system via Visual Studio.
    As I wrote, there is no possibility to connect via SAP GUI.

  • Xquery: Connection refused error

    Hi,

    error message:

    Hi Raj,
    Thanks for the reply. I tried the sample xqueries that come with sample
    applications in the default
    workshop domain and these work fine. By the way my domain is an Integration
    domain. Do
    I have to make it a workshop domain?
    Also I noticed that workshop freezes for a long time when I try to test by
    process by selecting the start option. If I use the 'Start without debug
    option' the debugging option is bypassed and it starts up fine. Can you
    explain to me the mechanism by which the XQueries are being executed?
    It appears that there is some kind of server that workshop has to connect to
    and also possible some
    roles or priviledges are required.
    Thanks

  • Connection refused error when trying to to lookup EJB in iAS

    Hi,
    I tried to write a client that uses an EJB in an 9.0.3 iAS running on windows NT SP6, and the JNDI lookup keeps failing with the following error:
    javax.naming.NamingException: Lookup error: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect; nested exception is:
    java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
         java.lang.Object com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIContext.lookup(java.lang.String)

         void Samplecom.mind.ejb.stubs.AccountComplexStubClient.main(java.lang.String[])
              AccountComplexStubClient.java:24
    I am using the following properties for the lookup:
    env.putContext.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "ias_admin");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "ias_admin1");
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ormi://localhost:23791/mindejb");
    Where:
    * 23791 is the port configured in the rmi.xml
    * mindejb is the name of the module
    * ias_admin1 is the correct password of ias_admin user
    Similar properties worked for a stand alone oc4j. What have I done wrong?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Avi

    Hi -
    I can resend what I think I would have said later on. No guarantees though ;-)
    What you need to do is to look at the RMI port range allocated in the opmn.xml file for the OC4J instance you are trying to connect to. OPMN basically looks at the first number, and determines if the port is free. If it is, it will use it. If it's not, it will go to the next sequential number and try that, etc.
    So if you have a defined port range of 3101-3200 and you only have one process, then it's a pretty safe bet (unless another rogue process has grabbed it) that the port you need will be the first one listed - 3101. If you specified two JVM processes to be started for the instance, then it's likely that 3101 and 3102 will be used.
    I think that's what I'd written in the truncated text.
    In our forthcoming 904 release, we're providing a port lookup service which will be able to be used by remote clients to discover the RMI ports used for OC4J instances. This will then avoid the client (and admins) needing to know and publish the specific ports used. Since OPMN itself knows which ports have been allocated, it can be queried by remote clients to find out where to connect. I've not seen the final spec, but I think this lookup will be transparent to the client in terms of code and will only require the addition of a prefix to the provider.url property used in jndi.propeties.
    It's likely to be of a format such as opmn:lookup:ormi://<known-ias-host-location>.
    Sorry about the truncation, it looks like that has now been rectified for the forums.
