XP Drivers not being installed

Hello, I have just installed Windows XP SP2 on my MacBook Pro, in Boot Camp when it said I should download the Windows Software Support, after trying many times, it didn't work (when burning it did nothing, when transferring to USB stick, it gave an error), so I ended up with saying I already have them, because I have read that I can download the drivers from Mac OS X Snow Leopard Installation Disk, after I had installed XP I installed the drivers from the disk, but only Wifi seems to take effect, no sound, no bluetooth, trackpad doesn't work any good...
So do I need to update some stuff? If so, maybe a new Boot Camp so that I can download the Windows Support Software? What can I do.
Your help is highly appreciated,
thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply Stefan,
Only Bluetooth got the yellow exclamtion mark, (I tried to *reinstall driver* from there, and after I put the OS X disk, it searched for it but couldn't find it..
The trackpad's scrolling, back and forward, etc, and some keyboard functions like muting, sound control, brightness control are not working (I do not know if they should work though) The Boot Camp I installed is 3.1, I have read that there are some bugs in the 3.2 and that it is only helpful for Vista or XP, therefore I did not update.
Thanks.

Firefox 3.6.x versions are still updated with security patches (Firefox 3.6.18 is due in about two weeks).
You are unfortunately out of luck with an Intel Mac and OS X 10.4.11.<br />
There is a compatible version from for a PowerPC Mac, but no alternative for an Intel Mac.

  • Flashplayer apparently not being installed on my computer

Hello.  I previously have been prompted to install the lastest version of Adobe flashplayer with Google Chrome.  I have installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, unistalled, reinstalled-over and over again.  It still is not registering as being installed on my computer as when I return the Pogo.com I still am prompted to install the lastest version.  Now I attempt to access a local news station's website, and am prompted to download the lastest Adobe flashplayer before I can view the stories.  Again, I download the newest version, and again it does not work.  Can someone please tell me what is going on???  Thanks so much!!

Run the Flash Player Uninstaller as applicable for your machine(i.e.Windows or MAC) and remove flash player.

    Hi Lissa
, thanks for your help, but i replace the external HD with the "broken" internal HD and was able to continue with the installation without any problems. It seems that for some reason its not working to get some drivers for the USB connection of the HD, maybe by firewire would have work, but i dont have one =) .
Now lets hope that the Seagate Momentus 5400.3 ST9120822AS its not badly damage so that some Data can be restored.

  • Optical drive drivers not being detected while installing windows 7 via bootcamp

I'm trying to install Windows 7 using boot camp but I keep running into a dead end that I have no idea how to fix.  I have my boot camp partition, and then I load up my install dvd and using BC assistant I click the Start Installation.  The machine restarts, and I get as far as the screen with the blue backgroun and the tiny green plant,  that has "install now" prominantly in the center, and below and to the left two options for "What to know before installing windows" and "Repair your computer".  I click install now and it goes to the "Setup is starting..."  Then I got an error winow that says "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now." "Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."    And I have the option to browse, or rescan for drivers.  The problem is I can't find any drivers for my machines optical drive OR the boot camp support drivers. I have my Origianl OSX Install disc, but dont know where to look for the drivers since I now apparently have to install them manually.  Any advice on this would be super appreciated as I've been trying to get this working for like a week :\  Specs Below.
I'm running a 15 inch Macbook Pro 5,3 Mac OS X 10.6.  Intel Core 2 Duo 8gb ram boot rom version mbp53.00ac.b03, optical: matshita uj-868
If any other info would help solve my problem let me know and if reasonalbe I will provide. Thanks!

The initial install (at least for most of the reboots) does correctly reboot to Windows. However, towards the end of the Windows setup, where Windows is fully functional but is configuring itself, you may accidentally boot into OS X. Once you get Apple's Boot Camp drivers installed, you can set the target disk for a reboot, so that you don't need to hold down alt/option. In addition, you can also set the target disk in Lion via System_Preferences>System>Startup_Disk.
Unfortunately, the excellent boot manager rEFIt doesn't work with Lion (because of the hidden partition that Lion adds). Maybe they'll get it working soon, then you can use it and not worry about holding down alt all the time.

  • Unable to Open adobe reader Portfolios due to flash not being installed

    Flash : 12.0
    Adobe Reader: 11.05
    OS: Windows 8.1
    Browser: IE 11
    Hi,
when launching a PDF that is classed as a portfolio I get the below error which appears to require flash to be installed.
two things im sort of observing:
due to being on windows 8.1 Flash is now installed via Microsoft. I cannot find a valid update for windows 8.1 from adobe site  can find for windows 8 but nothing for windows 8.1
Since Flash player Plugin is no longer bundled with Adobe Reader I need to install seperatly but i cant because of point 1.
If i install the windows 8 version of flash onto the machine I can open the PDF file no problem but by doiing this im not sure what file i might be over wrtiing and cause further issues down the track .
Read somewhere that the NPSWF64_12_0_0_70.dll is what adobe reader would use . copy the file to the required location and registering the dll seemed to do nothing as i get the same error.
My question is how can i get the Flash Plugin for Adobe reader to work so that I can open PDF portfolios ?

Windows 8.x only comes with the Flash Player ActiveX (for Internet Explorer); you need to install the plugin manually from http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player.exe

  • Upgraded client not being installed after CU4 upgrade

I upgraded our SCCM 2012 R2 environment to CU4 yesterday.
If I use the auto-created packages to upgrade existing clients, it works just fine.
However - when I do a client push to a new machine, it installs the old version of the client.
I see this at the start of the ccmsetup log:   'CcmSetup version: 5.0.7958.1501' - which is encouraging, but then a few lines later, I get this:  'Retrieved site version '5.00.7958.1000' from AD for site 'PS1'' - and it then proceeds
to install the lower version of the client.
If I look at the record for the MP in the System area of AD, sure enough, it's still listed as 5.00.7958.1000 in the object attributes.
    <ClientOperationalSettings><Version>5.00.7958.1000</Version>
How do i get AD to recognise that I've upgraded so that the newer version of the client is used during client push?

If you are referring to the ccmsetup version, that's not the client version, that's simply the ccmsetup bootstrap version and is not specifically indicative of the actual client version being deployed.
'5.00.7958.1000' is correct for the MP as that corresponds to 2012 R2 and is the client version pushed by the site. Changing this in no way would affect the client agent version installed by ccmsetup. ccmsetup does not try to install the CU, as mentioned,
that's simply the version of ccmsetup, not the client agent.
This is semantics for sure, but CUs aren't upgrades, they are updates.
If you want to avoid all of this, use a startup script to deploy your client agent instead so that you can use the PATCH property and include msp for the CU during client install.

  • Drivers not being injected for certain Laptop model

    Hi all
I am having difficulty getting a new laptop to deploy correctly. I am using MDT 2012 U1.
I use the DriverGroup001 variable to set the driver group and inject the specific drivers required, and this works perfectly for 10 other models. However we recently acquired some Dell Latitude E7240's and am experiencing a weird problem.
When deploying from our Production share, the drivers are not injected in the PE stage. However I have tried to deploy the same laptop using our completely separate test network and the drivers are deployed correctly. I have also created a separate test
share on our live network (with the same customsettings.ini) and the drivers deploy correctly here as well?! I have placed the drivers in a selection profile to specifically target them during deployment and they are still not injected. Inluding the drivers
in the PE image has also not worked.
So I have narrowed the problem down (I think) to a particular MDT share. I've deleted all the drivers in this share and readded the 7240 drivers with no luck. I've closed the share, rebooted the server and added the drivers with still no luck.
Looking at the logs I can see why I think it is failing, here are the relevant sections:

  • Linux not being install on Satellite L630

    Hey everyone,
    Can you please help me?
I am trying to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 in my Laptop i.e, Toshiba Satellite L630, and I am getting the error, It is asking for the driver disk, I have tried with the DVD and bootable pendrive, and I've also updated the BIOS of my system, but still the same problem.
    Plzzzzzzzz Help..........

    Hi there!
Are You sure about the version?
RHEL 6.0 seems not to be the current release? Maybe it is an outdated release?
    Current RHEL is 6.3.
What exactly is the installation asking? Please be exact since it makes things a lot clearer.
Also please specify which steps in the installation that You have passed.
BTW - is there a special reason for using RHEL 6.0?
    Thanks!

  • Windows 8.1 64-bit is not being installed.

I need to upgrade my 32-bit Windows 8.1 to 64-bit Windows 8.1. My processor also does support 64-bit operating system. But when I boot it, my LCD displays a message "Out of Range". What type of problem is it? Whether is it LCD resolution problem
or hardware problem? What should I do in either problems?

    Hi,
The “Out Of Range” error message indicates that you have exceeded the maximum possible video resolution or horizontal & vertical frequency that your display device is capable of using. Lower your input resolution and horizontal/vertical frequency to one
that is listed as compatible in the display device specifications chart.
For the issue,I would like to know your display size.19" or 23"?
Meanwhile, resolution is related to display size. It's not related to your operating system.
If your PC has a 64-bit capable processor (CPU) but is currently running a 32-bit version of Windows, you can install a 64-bit version of Windows 8.1, but you'll need to buy it as a DVD and perform a clean installation. You won't be able to keep any files,
settings, or apps when you update from a 32-bit to a 64-bit version.

  • Trying to install Mavericks, but says it cant due to recovery not being installed

I have downloaded Mavericks on my wifes MAC BOOK PRO, and it wont load as it says that it cant find "recovery". I downloaded, and installed Mavericks on my 2009 MacBook without any problems.
Any help and or hints would be most welcome.

You can't do an erase/install from a Time Machine disk because it uses the very Recovery Partition on the computer that is missing.  To get this put back, requires booting externally, erasing the offending OS and running the installer from there.
I'm surprised the installer wont run because people with Snow Leopard do not have such a Recovery Partition and they can upgrade.
Here is one route and I wish it was simpler.
    1. Make sure the MBP backup on Time Machine is up-to-date.
    2. Re-partition the Time Machine disk to make a small new one of about 80Gb or so.
    3. Attach the disk to the MacBook and boot into the MacBook. Download the installer again.  (Save a copy before running it).
    4. Install Mavericks onto the new partition, without any data transfer, except to copy over the installer.
(You could just clone your MacBook using Carbon Copy Cloner, if you have it.  It would be good backup anyway)
    5. Shutdown the MacBook and move the disk to the MBP, boot into the new partition.
    6. Go to Disk Utility and erase the MBP disk. Run Verify disk.
    7. Running the installer, it will ask where to install Mavericks and you need to click to show a list of disks.  Choose the MBP and go from there.  At the point it asks to transfer data. Select the Time Machine partition and use that to get your wife's user account.
    Heck that is complicated!
