XP Laptop Trade-In Coupons

Hello,
I had a question regarding the XP Laptop trade-in $75 coupons.  I traded in a few laptops and received $75 coupons for each one traded in.  The trade in process each time was fairly quick and the CSR knew exactly how to process the trades.  They were done separately, so the system would generate one coupon per laptop.
When attempting to use the coupons in-store, I was informed that only one coupon can be used for each laptop purchase, and the coupons are not able to be combined.
In reviewing the coupons, the cashier instructions specify "Coupon must be surrendered at time of discount, one coupon must be presented for each upgrade offer.  Please verify the name on the coupon matches the customer presenting the coupon." All the coupons were received from upgrade offers, and my name is on each coupon.
Most coupons are full of fine print, and would specifically mention terms and conditions of the coupon.  Based on the "fine print" on the trade-in coupons, one would think they're combineable.  They do not specify anything to the effect of "one coupon per laptop purchase" or "not combineable with any other coupon offers."  I was planning on purchasing 2 laptops, but may end up purchasing none if the coupons are not combineable.
I'm hoping this is just a system/register issue, as I'm meeting all the terms of the coupons.  If there indeed is a restriction on "limit one per transaction/laptop purchase/etc, it should be specified, and it would have prevented me from trading in more than one laptop.

Hello runner017,
With news of Microsoft discontinuing new updates for their XP computers, our Windows XP Trade-In promotion last week was quite popular. I’m glad you were able to take advantage of the offer, but I’m disheartened to hear you were blindsided after you discovered your trade-in coupons weren’t stackable at the time of purchase. I’m sure this put a damper on your excitement, especially when all you wanted to do was upgrade to new and shiny technology.
Typically, coupon offers are limited to one per purchase.  This is why you experienced difficulties at the register when attempting to use more than one coupon as our system doesn’t allow it. It was never our intention to disappoint you, and I’m truly sorry for frustration this caused. Please know though that I’m grateful for the advice you’ve provided us regarding the terms and conditions of the coupon as we do take our customer’s feedback into consideration for future endeavors.
If you should need any further assistance, please feel welcome to reach out to me.
Thanks for posting!

  • Use WinXP trade in coupon on Asus ChromeBox

I am interested in buying a Asus ChromeBox with my WinXP trade in coupon.  It shows as unavailable in any store around me.
Can I pre / back order this in store and use my coupon?

    Good afternoon,
I’m glad to hear you were able to trade-in a Windows XP machine during the promotion we had and received the $75 coupon! The coupon is valid on Windows, Apple, and Google Chromebook computers. That being said, not every Windows, Apple, and Google Chromebook computer is able to be purchased with the coupon. Sadly, the Chromebox would not be able to be purchased with the $75 coupon. I am sorry for any disappointment this may cause you. If there are any other units you are interested in or may want me to check on to see if they are eligible, please feel welcome to let me know!

  • XP Laptop trade-in promotion

During this promotion I decided to trade in three of my laptops for a total of $300 towards a purchase of a new iMac for my wife. At the time of the trade in I was unaware that I could not combine the 3 coupons towards my purchase due to the fact that I could not find anywhere in the advertisment that I could not use all three towards a single purchase of a new CPU, a relative of mine was able to stack a different discount coupon towards their trade in plus the $75 coupon and the $25 gift card. Why couldn't I stack these when I did trade in 3 working computers it just doesn't seem right to me because I feel the trade in value of my laptops were equal to the $100 I received in coupon and gift card if they were stackable.
I settled and purchased an Asus touch screen laptop since my budget was cut because of the information not advertised by Best Buy, I then returned it because my wife was not happy with the quality and because the coupon was a one time use I was forced to use a 2nd coupon for the HP that we again settled with (While in the store my wife was hovering around the Apple computers).
It's very disappointing that this promotion did not advertise that customers were not able to stack the coupons, I have spent a lot of money with Best Buy in the last three months including a 16gb iPad Air, a $800 Lenovo touch screen desktop system, I feel like I got the short end of the stick with this deal including having to use one of my $75 coupons just to rebuy a different computer.

    Hello BMWTwinTurbo-
With support for Windows XP having ended, we wanted to provide a trade-in promotion for our customers where they could divest themselves of their older technology and experience everything that these new computers can bring to your life.  I am truly sorry to hear that this trade-in promotion did not live up to your expectations when you found you could only use one coupon to buy a new computer.
The promotion allowed customers to apply only one $75 discount coupon from the trade-in of their working Windows XP Laptop per new computer purchase.  However, any number of Best Buy gift cards, including any received from trading in your Windows XP machines, could be used towards the purchase of the new computer.  In addition, the coupons are for one-time use, so they cannot be returned if you choose to return or exchange the product.
To make sure that this is clarified at the store, we have sent out a correction notice to the stores noting the information, which should be posted.  You can find more information on the notice here.
I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you.

  • Windows XP Laptop Trade-In Promo

I brought a fully working windows XP laptop (Compaq Presario 2100) to my local BestBuy (store #1073) to take advantage of this program last night. Laptop was 100% fully working - simply old as expected. After spending 20-30 minutes with them taking it apart and checking Battery / RAM / Hard Drive / Bootup / Screen / etc... the final verdict was that my laptop was perfectly fine but not on their list of models they can accept so I was denied. I was livid - if there is some list of accepted laptops why isn't this put in the promotion anywhere? I cannot in any way understand why my laptop would not be accepted (pretty sure I even bought it at Best Buy 10 years ago) and would love some explanation - along with knowing what this magical list is and why you wouldn't check a computer against this list first instead of going through a 30 minute process first.  All the fine print seems normal - must be operational, non damaged, boots up, valid copy of windows XP, etc... After trying to get an explanation from the sales manager it came down to 'well what were you planning on purchasing and maybe we can figure something out'. This just seems downright fraudulent / false-advertising to me, a maybe we'll honor our recycling promotion if you decide to buy the right product. The promotion as emailed/posted/distributed seemed like a win/win: I have an old laptop that I would love to replace with a new laptop or tablet, it meets all the standards you listed, I understand the promo is for a limited time coupon to be used on a new laptop/tablet at your store, what the heck?!? Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

    Greetings psharkauburn,
If your Compaq Presario 2100 is in great working condition, I can understand why you would be disappointed in receiving the news that it wasn't an eligible device for this promotion. It would make sense that the first thing to check would be that the unit was an eligible product before testing to make sure it met the working conditions of the promotion. I am sorry if this was not the experience you were hoping for from our promotion.
Per the offer details, not all products are eligible for this trade-in promotion. Models must be recognized by our Trade-in Center to receive the $75 coupon. While the offer supersedes any lower trade-in values, it would still have to be a listed model that our system accepts. With the model you provided, sadly I was unable to locate it on our list of products eligible for trade-in.
That being said, if your laptop meets all of the other requirements but is not within our Trade-In system, you may still be able to receive the $25 gift card for recycling your laptop. I would suggest returning to the store to review this promotion with an associate and see if you may receive the $25 Best Buy gift card for recycling your unit.
If you should have any questions, please let me know!
    Cheers,

  • Windows XP trade in Fiasco

On Sunday 4/6/14, I went to my local best buy to trade in a working laptop, Toshiba Satellite A20 series with the original factory install of windows XP to take advantage of the recent promo of getting $25 BB gift card and $75 towards purchase of new laptop. When I tried to get the promotion, I was denied, saying the laptop was not in the  trade-in system and so they would not be able to give me any of the promotion credits and would just recycle my laptop. When I got back home, I checked online about this situation and saw that a lot of consumers were able to send in their laptops that were not on the trade-in system because the employees just had to go through the "recycle for trade-in" system which would then prompt the windows XP promo there. I called Best Buy customer service that night and verified that information with one of the representatives who said that as long as the laptop was working with windows XP, going through the "recycle  for trade in" system would allow for laptops not on the "trade-in" list to be taken and given the XP promo credits.
I called to my local Best Buy the next to relay this information and confirm this. I ended up with a Geek squad employee who went through the system for me and saw that it worked after getting an associate manager log in(?) and told me I could bring in my receipt and he would let the appropriate people know so that they would be able to process me for the gift card and credit towards a new computer when I came in. I went to the Best Buy that afternoon, and I was again denied! I was told that it would not work and that they could not do anything for me now that my laptop was already given to them the day prior.
This has been really frustrating on multiple levels. It seems that the awareness and knowledge of this win XP promo was not consistent among all the employees in Best Buy and that this confusion or lack of clarity has made it very difficult to take advantage of this promotion despite it being displayed prominently on the weekly advertisements and in store ads. Looking at other consumers' experiences online, many people had faced the same situation as me with the laptop not being in the "trade-in" system, but ultimately being able to have their laptops be accepted and go through to obtain the gift card and future credit promotion. And finally, the lack of communication between employees within the same Best Buy was astounding as the person who I spoke with at the store who I was told to speak to when I was with them over the phone, denied ever being told about the conversation had and how to process the promo.
The fact is the local Best Buy team I dealt with stated that the reason my laptop was not eligible (otherwise, they had booted it up and showed that it had a working windows XP with a working screen, checked the windows xp sticker that was on my laptop, and saw that the laptop was able to work on battery power as well as charge) was because it COULD NOT be found in the trade in application. The instruction job aid's that were given to the local Best Buy's to help the customer reps process this deal however explicitly say in Step 1 of the Processing Instructions - "Search for the computer make and model. If the model is NOT in the Trade-in application click on Recycling and select Laptop." SO in this case, my laptop would have been eligible under the Recycling tab of the application as they DID process it as a recycle, but did not proceed to do any of the further steps to give me the gift card and promotion credit.
After even explaining that that was the way to go about the process so that I would be eligible for the credit, the store manager at the time, Louis, said that was not how it was done and that going through the recycling tab would not give me the gift card and promo credit. However, there is direct evidence that this is not the case. Searching forums on the web about this Best Buy XP laptop trade in promotion also shows that multiple customers have been able to obtain the promotion through the recycle tab option when their laptop is not listed in the trade-in tab, as backed by the Best Buy Job Aid instructions.
It's really infuriating when the customer knows more about a particular store promotion and how it is processed then staff of the store itself. I shouldn't have to justify why my laptop was eligible for the promotion when the staff, if they just followed their own store instructions, would have found it eligible themselves. The laptop was already checked to be in complete working condition, they just did not know how to process the transaction so that I could get the promotion.  As mentioned, I've already gone to the store (Best Buy store # 483) twice to explain this (and once after I had spoken to someone over the phone at the store prior to going who understood this and told me that they would be able to process the promo for me and to just speak to Louis, the manager again) to be told at the store by the manager that this was not the case, and that the promotion is not processed via the recycling tab (even though it can be!!! - based on the Job Aid instructions and multiple accounts by other users that this was in fact how they got their promotion).

    Hello Disappointed233,
Our XP Trade-In promotion that we offered was a great way to have your older computers recycled in environmentally safe way while making sure you were compensated by offering a minimum $100.00 in reward offers. However, it appears there was a miscommunication with the inner workings of the promotion within our store, leaving you unable to receive this offer. I’m sure you were excited to take advantage of this only for your hopes to be dashed when you were denied the offer. I’m sorry for the frustration this caused.
When an XP laptop was brought to a Geek Squad counter, our agents should have determined its eligibility by reviewing the following terms:
    -          Power on and run on its own battery power without connection to its AC Adapter
    -          Not have a defaced, missing or altered serial number
    -          Not have a cracked screen or water damage
Please know that these conditions are up to the discretion of store employees; however, if your computer is deemed eligible for this promotion, the agent should look up your computer with our Trade-In Estimator to see how much your computer is worth. If it has a value less than $25, this offer would supersede its trade-in value and give you a $25 gift card. If its value is deemed higher, you would receive a gift card higher than the guaranteed $25. Additionally, you should also receive a $75 trade-in coupon that may be used towards the purchase of a new computer. If your laptop isn’t recognized by our trade-in system, our employees should have had the option to choose the promotion outside of it so that you could receive both the $25 gift card and the $75 coupon.
It seems something went wrong with your latest visit that left you unable to claim this promotional offer. Additionally, your laptop is already recycled and the promotion has expired so it does complicate things. I have sent you a private message so that we may discuss this further. You may view it by logging into the forum and clicking on the envelope in the upper right-hand corner.

  • Issue with iPad air trade in promotion.

I went to the Rego Park NYC Bestbuy store (Store 483) today and tried to trade in my iPad 4 32GB wifi because of this promotion.
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/promo/trade-in-offer-129347?ref=199&loc=iH2PRtf/I7g&acampID=1&siteID=iH2...
The girl from customer service did not know anything about it so I asked for a manager. The manager knew about the promtion and took my iPad. She offered me $246 in gift card but she said that I will not receive the $50 trade in coupon toward a new iPad Air 2 purchase. I aruged briefly with her but she insisted that was how it works because the promotion can only guarantee a minimum trade in value of $200 and since my iPad 4 has a trade in value of $246,  it will not be considered as an eligible tablet.  Could someone from Bestbuy explain how this promotion really work? Because it doesn't make sense at all if i do not get both the gift card and the $50 coupon. I read about this promotion from various forums and lots of people getting both the gift card and the coupon.

    Hello TommyLai,
I have to say I’m rather bummed that I don’t have an older iPad model to trade in. With the gift card and coupon provided with this offer, you could potentially get a new iPad Air or mini at half price (or close to it)! I’m disappointed to hear that our Rego Park location wasn’t quite up to speed with the promotion though, leaving you absolutely confused and without a cool new iPad. I’m truly sorry for this oversight.
According to our Trade in and Trade up promotion, you should have received either a $175.00 or $200.00 gift card for your trade in. Because your iPad 4 was worth more than those amounts, you were correctly offered more than the guaranteed minimum. This shouldn’t have disqualified you from receiving the coupon though. As long as you were intending to purchase the item listed on the coupon, it should have been provided with your trade-in receipt.
I’d like out to local leadership at our Rego Park location and provide them with the necessary details about this promotion. However, I’m unable to locate your Best Buy account, and I’d like to provide them with as many details as possible for further reference. Please know that I’ve sent you a private message to collect some information. You may view it by logging into the forum and clicking on the envelope in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.

  • Trade Up program declined

I was at store #551 and denied a trade up. My tablet powers on and I showed the represenative. She proceeded to check if it was there, but I mentioned that it most likely needed to be processed as a recycle since it is a off brand tablet. After she insisted that it wasn't in the database, I asked again to see if it can be recycled for the promotion. She said it can be but we won't give you anything for it. I then kindly asked and showed her the ad that it was in fact supposed to be any tablet. But she just brushed off the remark and reinterated it wasn't in the database.
I am confused about this offer, and it shows that many represenatives at the store are simply not trained to handle this promotion. At store 551 there was only one person in the entire store that could process this, so I waited patiently. Rather than training the other customer service represenative to know how to do this he was simply shuffled to another register. Why is it there is so much confusion about this promotion and the finer details of it? All the forums say one thing as well as the corperate reps but none of the local stores seem to comply. I spent a good hour just waiting around and trying to explain to the lady about this. But it appeared she didn't even really bother to attempt to recycle it. Her words were we just stick and sticker on it and you won't get anything.
I am hoping a specialist can help me on this matter.

I work for companies all the time without pay.  I looked up a recent Trade-In and Trade-Up promotion and here is the fine print with what I think is the problem in larger Bold print:
Get a minimum $50 gift card plus a $50 coupon toward the purchase of the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S when you trade in any working tablet.
Find a store near you ›
Promotion valid 8/10/14–9/6/14. Coupon redemption valid through 9/13/14. In store only. Get a minimum $50 gift card for any working tablet. Excludes the Barnes and Noble Nook and eReaders. Not all products are eligible for trade-in. Not available in all locations and some stores may have additional limitations. Trade-in value may vary. Condition, documentation and accessories may affect value. Device must power on to be considered working. Devices with cracked screens or water damage are not considered working for purposes of this offer. Payment is by Best Buy gift card. You are responsible for removing any data from your product before providing the product for evaluation. You will be required to agree to the Terms & Conditions. The Best Buy Trade-In programs are intended for private, non-commercial use. No Dealers. Limit of 2 trade-ins per person. Best Buy reserves the right to refuse any trade-in or to limit quantities for any reason. Taxes and any applicable surcharges due at time of purchase. No rainchecks. Upon trade-in of a qualified tablet, a trade-in coupon for $50 toward a new Samsung Galaxy Tab S will print with the trade-in receipt. Tax applied to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S is applied based on the full retail value. Limit 1 coupon per transaction. See a Customer Specialist or BestBuy.com/TradeIn for details.
I'm guessing that the person who helped you treated this as a regular Trade-In and couldn't find your tablet in the database with any value on it, and "correctly" said they could recycle it but again, it had no value and you wouldn't get anything.
The wording is what gets me "...trade in any working tablet..." but then the fine print states "not all products are eligible." It seems like a baited sentence (but since they aren't trying to sell you something once you're there, there isn't a "switch").
Before posting I try to research everything first or use my own experiences. I do not now nor have I ever worked for Best Buy. I work for the competition.
If you respond to a post of mine, I will read it. I may or may not post in the thread again, but rest assured I will read your response

  • Re: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Trade-in Promo

My pre order pick up was a nightmare. I traded in a couple games before I picked up and everything went pretty smooth. It initially took a few extra minutes to complete the pickup transaction for my COD. Get to car and pull out my game and its the X360 version not the XB1. I don't know how she got that mixed up I traded in two XB1 games and she even said XB1 on her way to the back. I go back inside and it takes her a while to find "my" copy so she pulls one off the shelf out front. Then she has issues with my GCU, preorder deposit, and coupon. Finally everything goes through on her third try but her total is incorrect. I have bought enough games to know how much a full price game is with GCU after tax. Long story short I end up paying for tax on a $60 game instead of a $48 game. I also lose .68 I had on a gift card applied to the original transaction. With all her voiding and redoes I am sure I will end up having to contact support for my $10 RWZ preorder bonus. I just don't understand how GCU works flawless online but instore I have to jump through hoops for my member benefits. This dibalce took an hour and I look like an idiot for arguing about $3 and end up conceeding just to get out the store. I end up paying $18.44 instead of $15.67 which was my balance owed after deposit/discounts. I think from now on when I order from Best Buy it will be shipped to my house. Two orders in the past seven days and somehow the store screws something up.
Why couldn't she just give me my game instead of making my life a living nightmare?

    painkillah1,
Based on what you mentioned, it sounds as though the rep assisting you simply made a legitimate mistake when processing your pre-order. Still, it's disappointing to hear there may have been some confusion regarding how the trade-in coupon and your Gamers' Club Unlocked benefits would interact.
As you're probably aware, it typically takes 15-20 days for both base points and pre-order bonus certificates to post. If you do not see record of your purchase on BestBuy.com after that timeframe has passed, let us know and we'd be the glad to look into the situation on your behalf at that time. As far as sales tax is concerned, however, you will regrettably need to return to your local store's customer service desk for assistance with that issue. I have confidence that the store's on-site team will be able to help you out, but remember you can always ask to speak with a manager on duty if you'd like.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

  • IPad Air 2 PM rejected

Yesterday, around 2:30PM I drove to the local Best Buy.  I went in to pricematch the iPad Air 2 promotion that was going on, where you get a $50 gift card with the purchase of any iPad Air 2.  8 days prior, I'd purchased an iPad Air 2, and per the Best Buy Price Match policy, I expected to be able to bring in a receipt and walk out with a $50 gift card.
I went over to the Customer Service counter and explained my request.  I gave them my receipt.  The person at the counter was new, and was unsure of how to accomplish that or whether this was allowed, so they called over someone more experienced.  2nd person came over, and looked over my receipt.  To be fair, my receipt is sort of complicated for this transaction.  I'd saved up Reward Zone certificates for months prior to purchase.  I accumulated coupons to use on the purchase (I used a Mover's Coupon and a $50 off coupon from trading in my iPad 3 to Best Buy), so I patiently waited as they looked over the mess of deductions on the receipt.
They then said they were unsure if I could, since there was a trade-in coupon used on the transaction.  So they went off to ask someone senior.  I waited patiently while they went over and talked to a 3rd person, a manager.  After a couple of minutes, I walked over to them and asked what's up.  They rejected my PM request due to the use of a Mover's Coupon.  I thanked them and left.  I didn't have time to argue that this isn't an issue for people buying iPads right then (as I read on multiple online forums), nor did a coupon dequalify purchases from promotions (again, from multiple forums, I read people able to get this PM).  I've learned that you only expend time arguing with managers if you have the time and documentation, and I lacked both time and documentation, which would require another Mover's Coupon.
So I come here, hoping a moderator can assist me.  I wasted the better part of an hour just making the trip, and had to leave quickly so I could make it to a friend's party.  Had I the time, extra coupons, and RZ certs, I would have just bought another iPad then and there to get the deal.
    -Proud CAGer.
    Solved!

    Hey Keen,
Sorry for the disappointing experience, and you should have been given a definitive reason if this price match request was rejected by one of our stores. I’m not sure if these coupons can be combined or not, but it is correct that price match requests are not valid on free gift card offers.
I would like to see if there is any action I can take to resolve this for you, and am sending you a private message. To check your messages you should log into the forum, and then click on the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

  • Tablet not accepted for trade in surface pro 3 150 coupon

Hi I have a proscan tablet model plt4311. Is it applicable for trade in or not. The store at best buy waterfront Pittsburgh says they cannot accept it. As far as I know the best buy policy says any working tablet will work. Please reply

    Hello Mohitpharma,
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your trade-in! I'm sorry to hear you may have had trouble with trading in a Proscan tablet under our trade-in offer to trade up to the Surface Pro 3. Provided your tablet meets the working qualifications, it should have qualified for this promotion.
We trust that our stores are kept up-to-date and are knowledgeable in how to process qualifying tablets under such promotions. Sadly, it seems that this promotion ended yesterday, 4/18/15. With that said, as I see you were inquiring about combining three coupons in another post (Movers Coupon, College Student Deals coupon, and the $150 coupon from the Surface Pro 3 trade-in offer), which you will see I've merged with this post. Was this a proactive inquiry, or were you able to successfully trade in your Proscan tablet?

  • Trade Up to Madden 15 $10 Coupon not honored as stated

I am a Gamers Club Unlocked Member, and I pre-ordered Madden 15 online to take advantage of the $10 pre-order gift card.
Best Buy then had a flyer in August stating that if you traded in Madden 25 between 8/10 - 8/23 that you would received a $25 trade in value, and then a $10 Coupon towards the purchase of Madden 15.
I was told that I didn't have to cancel and reorder my pre-order to take advantage of the $10 Coupon, as it would just be applied when I went to the store to pick up my game.
So....I went to the store....and the coupon was not honored.  The store staff even called corporate and they said it couldn't be honored.  The in store person stated that they couldn't apply an adjustment at the POS for a .COM purchase.  They could return the game to give me my adjustment for the coupon, but then I would lose my pre-order $10.
Epic fail on the end of Best Buy.....

    Hello hoopty2369,
I’m very sorry to hear that you may have run into some issues with using the $10 coupon you received from the Madden 25 trade-in promotion.
I see that you did post in the other thread as diddy_64 suggested. We’ll be responding to everyone in that thread shortly. However, I didn’t want to leave this post without a response. I appreciate your patience in the meantime!

  • Does the 10% Reward Zone or USPS 10% off coupon work on regularly priced laptops (Not a Mac)?

Hi there... I'm new here, but I'm a Premier SIlver Member and sometimes get coupons in the mail.
I don't recall if I got some in June 2010 or not, but I'm wondering if there are ever any coupons that can be used towards the purchase of a regularly priced laptop (not Mac).
I'm debating on purchasing either through Best Buy or another store, and if I could use the coupon, it would definitely tip the scales to BB.
    Thanks in advance, SKCgirl

Most of the times, the % off coupons can not be used on core products, suchs as TVs, Laptops, Desktops, Apple products, and whatnot. If you check the conditions on the coupon, it will tell you what you can use it for. Hope this helps.

  • Movers Coupon / Opne Box Laptop

I went to store to buy a open box laptop, but manger didnt responce for my movers Coupon.Manager didnt even try to scan it.I was very disappointed and back without purchase.

    Hello pareshpatel8404,
I'm very disappointed to read that you've had this encounter at your local store. Our managers should have received instructions on how to proceed when coupons are presented, so I regret very much any inconvenience you've endured.
At what store did this occur? Did you happen to get the store manager's name? I would like to reach out to the store leadership so that we may ensure that your next visit is without issue.
I'm grateful that you brought your situation to our attention and I look forward to hearing from you.
    Sincerely,
