XP Pro install fails on new MBP - Disk Error every time
I have a new 13" MBP. I set up a 50GB partition with Bootcamp but I get a 'Disk Error. Press any key to restart' message after I try to install XP.
I've just tried a second XP Pro install disk, both are legit and brand new. I wiped the partition with Disk Utility after the first failed install. Same error occurs.
Any ideas ?

I discovered it was slightly incorrect, but easy to overcome. Where he said that the prompt that comes up is C:\WINDOWS\, mine came up as C:\>, which is what it is supposed to be.
I was able to reformat my partition to NTFS and then do the full install.

Stumbled upon the resolution myself. The Bean Area item needs to be set to Visible=Yes in the property palette for the bean within Forms Builder, and also the implementation class also in the bean's properties must match exactly the package & class name specified in the PJC (my full implementation class string had to be set to oracle.forms.demos.runApplication).
As this bean has no user interface component, and since the Visible property has to be set to Yes, to avoid having a random square shape for the bean sitting on the form's canvas, I also set the Width and Height properties for the bean to 0.001. This does show a very small dot on the form, but that will be acceptable.
So in summary there has been a change for PJC / Bean Areas between 6i and 10g Forms, in 6i you could have the Bean Item to be set Visible=No, and the SET_CUSTOM_ PROPERTY built-in would work, however in 10g Forms the Bean Item must be set to Visible=Yes for the SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY built-in to work.

X58 Pro-e fails to overclock. Warning message every time.
Hi all,
I've been trying to overclock my i7960 on my MSI X58 Pro-e, but every time I make even the smallest change to my clock speed my computer reboots three times and I get a red error message stating that the last overclock failed and my bios settings have been reverted. I tried just a small increase from 133 to 138, and it did the same thing. I tried using the overclock switch on the motherboard and setting it to 166 (the next available option up from 133), but I get the same error message. Any help getting past this error is much appreciated.

I then took out the original sticks and replaced them with the DDR3 1600 sticks, and I got the error message again.
It's your call of course, but if all is fine with the original kit of RAM, it may be best to leave well enough alone. If feeling adventerous, you might try setting the 1600's manually to their 'rated' specs. This would most likely include setting the Memory & Uncore Ratio's, Command Rate & timings, & DRAM V. -
Acrobat X Pro Install Fails OS 10.7.4

On a new installation of CS6 D&W Premium, on Mac OSX (10.7.4) Everything seems to install except Acrobat, and I am left with the following after installation.

Despite the above error, the application is in the APP folder and starts with no errors. Recently an update became available to Acrobat X Pro and the Update will not install -- it says that Acrobat has been modified since its original installation.
Any ideas what might be going on here?

JusticeRestart with the Option key held down and use Lion's recovery partition to install onto that drive. Alternatively, clone your existing system to that drive, run DiskWarrior on the clone, restart from the clone, and use DiskWarrior to repair the internal drive.

1. /Library/Preferences/
2. ~/Library/Preferences/
This file might be already present on your machine if you have any other version of Acrobat installed. You need to rename this file or move it to some other location and then try installing Acrobat 11 again. Please let us know if you are able to install after following these steps.
It’s only there in /Library/Preferences
I deleted com.adobe.PDFAdminSettings.plist from /Library/Preferences/ with admin privileges
still the installation fails
Any other suggestions.

If you have Pro 7 then you can buy the upgrade to 8 - which is about a third of the cost of buying 8 itself... you will need the XS key when you first install 8 - you may even have to have 7 installed on your system, though I'm not sure.

If I boot to the "Recovery HD" I get a message "Installation Failed, Try re-intalling" Which would be a fine idea, but I can't because if I re-start installation from the hard drive I get the above errors.
I've burned the "InstallESD.img" to a DVD, but it also doesn't seem to work. Comes up as though I'm in the RecoJen,
Here's what I did to get Lion installed:
Burn the installer to a DVD and install from there. It worked for me. Here's what you need to do:
First you need another computer running at least 10.6.8.
1. On the other computer go to 'App Store' (make sure you're logged in to the App Store with the AppleID you used on the troubled computer)
2. Click on 'Purchased' in the 'App Store' window's toolbar
3. If you are on 10.6.8, and haven't downloaded Lion on that computer just click "Install" to download the installation application.
3. a, if the other computer is already running Lion, you'll need to re-download the installer.
3. b. Hold down 'Option' when selecting 'Purchased' then you click "Install"
4. When the Lion Installer starts up, just quit it. You want to work with the Installer application.
5. Find the "Install Lion OS X" application in the 'Applications' folder.
6. Hold down 'Control' and click on the application and select 'Show Package Contents'
7. Find 'InstallESD.dmg' which is in the "Shared Support" folder and copy it to your desktop.
8. Burn 'InstallESD.dmg' to a DVD ('Disk Utility' is simplest to do this).
9. Put the new install DVD into the computer that has Lion partially installed and reboot holding down the "C" key.
10. run the installer as normal, selecting your harddrive as the target.
In my case, when it rebooted to the harddisk the Lion installer started AGAIN. If this happens, let it run. Then you should be done.

EMac wont install OSX, fails on install with errors every time
I have a 1.25GHz emac that I just recently got, Well it wouldnt boot at first at all and had the Rom password crap on it. So i got rid of all of that and now it boots from the CD just fine it just wont install OSX im using a Retail Black disc for Tiger and it just wont get past a certain spot in the install and fails with errors every time. Any suggestions? Ive tried to install panther & Jaguar and neither of those discs will boot.

JeremySometimes, the OSX installer wants a clean partition. As the computer is new to you and probably has no files on the drive you need, I suggest you wipe the drive before trying again. Boot from the install CD and choose "Open Disk Utility" from the installer's File menu. Use DU to erase and reformat the disk, choosing "Mac Extended (Journaled)" format.
This will clear any old files that are interfering with the installer and leave a blank slate. -

In going over this, thanks to "tallking it out" with you, I did discover the Text Edit problem. Because I've still been unable to get the new computer text size (fonts or whatever) to match the old computer, I did not notice that the curser is now different--the line midway down the curser has to be placed on the line I am working upon, otherwise the edits go elsewhere on the page. Now, with a bit of difficulty, I am able to get Text Edit to work correctly.
If you have any ideas as to why my menu bar and Text Edit type are still so slow, I'd love to have them.
(I went through the process you suggested earlier, re my Trackpad preferences, and found no improvement.) -

I created the database using dbca. First time i deleted the database using dbca and again i created with help of dbca.
The database, dbconsole is working fine.
When i issue the isqlplusctl start in command prompt,the following error is displaying..
"CNTService:Install, Failed call to open SCM, Error:5, Access is denied"
and
"Failed to start the service, Error:0, The operation completed successfully"
