XP Registry Failure when installing LabVIEW 8 Evaluation CD
I am trying to install the LabVIEW 8 Evaluation CD on Windows XP with Service Pak 2. I got a failure message saying that it "could not open key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\LVDB.Application\CLSID."
Can anyone help me?

The nature of the error your seeing has to do with licensing. I've found one article over a year old that would indicate that a license file name is too long which is then confusing FLEXlm, a license manager. However I'm not sure I buy that one because I have license files that are over 30 characters long and my system seems to work. Your license files should be located at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\License Manager\Licenses.
I also found a article describing conflicts between different FLEXlm applications. That article can be found at http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/69D774EB126339538625701400662FA6?OpenDocument. This may or may not help out if you have other applications installed.
A couple of other things. Do you have administrative rights when logged on? Are you using the NI Volume License Manager (VLM)? Is the installation you are trying to preform from a network installation? Have you ever had LabVIEW work on this machine before? If so, what changed?

Fatal Error when installing LabView 8.5
I encounter a fatal error when I attempt to install LabView 8.5. The error that occurs has the following in its details:
".\UberInstaller.cpp(1871): IInstallerError 10014
Fatal Error. A failure has occurred in NISystemInfo.
CoLoadLibrary failed on C:\lv8.5\bin\NISysInf.dll"
I am installing from a system that previously had LabView 8.2 installed, however everything was uninstalled before I began installing the new version.
No hardware is connected in my computer.
I copied the files from the DVD to my harddrive and am still failing to install it from there.
The disc should be fine as my supervisor had used the same disc to install on his computer. ( our licence allows this )
Any help would be appreciated.

I searched for and found the same error in this forum that I am experiencing. I am trying to install the NI Switch Executive and the install fails every time. This is a fresh install and I am not running any antivirus s/w. It is a DVD copy of the Switch Executive s/w. Has there been any conclusive explanation as to what is happening with this? I have included a .jpg of the error. Thanks in advance for any help.

Memory Error when installing labview 6.1
I had labview 6.0, 6.1 and RT installed on my PC (windows 2000). I tried to install application builder but I got Error that I have no labview installed, so I tired to uninstall RT, but I was abe to. Then I found out that I can't install or uninstall any of the Labview versions. So I went and deleted the whole NI directory, all the keys related to NI in the registry file, and Labview.ini. Now I'm trying to install labview 6.1, but I'm getting memory error and setup terminates. What can I do!

LB_Setup_Error.gif 36 KBFirst, I recommend contacting NI support at ni.com/ask and starting an incident report.
Second, I recommend either restoring your registry from backup, or wiping your system and starting over. I know it doesn't sound like fun, and it isn't, but it is probably the only way now you can guarantee a good clean registry. Alternatively, go through the registry again and make sure all National Instruments and LabVIEW entries are deleted.
In the future, and I make this recommendation to everyone, you should, as a safe practice, make a backup of your registry before you install anything, and also periodically. Archive these and label them with the list of programs installed, or with any new programs that have been installed.
The Windows registry is obsolete,
and complete hopeless when it comes to a stable system. There is no automated backup of the registry to my knowledge. The registry is the biggest source of problems with Windows, followed of course by DLLs (everyone has their own version, and noone's is alike, much less works right.) The registry can be backed up by using "Export" from the regedit program. Backups can be restored with the "Import" function in regedit of course.

Registry problems when installing Flash Player
Hi, first of all, sorry for any misspelling, I'm Argentinian . I'm writing here because I've tried a LOT of ways and solutions to install Flash Player for IE, here some facts:
I mostly use Google Chrome, that has the FP already installed, but i have a problem with the ActiveX control, I can install Flash player 11 for windows but Not ActiveX... i read that that's a tool for IE, so i thought i wouldn't be needing it, but when i tried to execute a program (Game Ranger) it said that i needed ActiveX control and that i didn't have it in my computer.. So i started to check for solutions, etc etc. and finally give it up because i just couldn't do it, but well now I started again because I want to know if it's something important to have..
The problem when installing is this: It starts to download Flash Player.. then install it and when it's in 51% it stops and a message appears saying: registry error. this is what happens when I try to install ActiveX, not Flash Player itself because as I said earlier I can install it...
All I want to know is if there's some way to allow Flash Player installation to change registry values.. because i think that's the main problem.. i think. Thank you for reading.

Error 1305 when installing LabVIEW 7.1 app built with app builder
I have built an executable with installer from LabVIEW 7.1 app builder. The app installs/works fine, however 1 user reported 'Error 1305' when installing the app from a DOS subset on a WinXP machine. For example, a virtual drive is created using the DOS 'subst' command (see http://www.easydos.com/subst.html for more info), e.g. 'subst z: c:\temp'. Now when running z:\setup.exe, the error 1305 is encountered. If the same app is run from c:, e.g. 'c:\temp\setup.exe', it works fine. Is this a bug in the installer, or in the OS...?

This is an architectural issue with the Microsoft Windows Installer and Windows, and will occur with any MSI (not just those from the app builder). Under XP, a MSI cannot install from OR install to a location created by the "subst" command. My understanding of why is that installSequence runs in the context of the MSI engine, which is running as "system" user. But the subst command is a per-user setting (local to your account) so the MSI engine doesn't see it.
The only workaround is to run the MSI from a non-subst drive, or instead use network file shares (you can simulate what "subst" does by mounting an exported file share from the same machine).

Error 1706 when installing LabVIEW 7.1

When installing the device drivers that come with LabVIEW 7.1, near the end of the installation I get the following error message:
Error 1706: No valid source could be found for product LabVIEW 6.0.2. The Windows installer cannot continue. Continue?
The installer completes after this but says that the installation has failed. Any suggestions? Thanks.

This error is not specific to the install of LabVIEW but with the upgrade of the IMAQ device driver.

Developer Error when Installing Labview 8.5
Hi there,
When I was installing Labview 8.5 directly from the CD, I had error message 1311. Following the recommendation posted on the discussion forum, I copied the CD to the C drive and installed Labview 8.5 successfully. However, when I tried to follow the same procedure when installing the device driver CDs,i.e. by first installing the CD to a folder in the C drive and installing it by launching setup.exe, I had the following error:
"Developer error. The following errors were found in your ini file: 1 Specified file not found. [MSIEngine] WinNTPath = SupportFiles\WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe Correct the ini file and try again"
When I checked the setup.ini file, under the [MSIEngine] entery, I found the following text:
"[MsiEngine]
WinNTPath=bin\WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe
RequiredVersion=3.0.0.0
CommandLine=/passive /norestart"
How can I correct the ini file? Should I change the WinNTPath to the one generated by the error message? Will this solve the problem? Your help would be very much appreciated.

Error 1935 when installing LabVIEW on Windows 7
Hello, everyone.
I'm new to Windows 7 and I need to install LabVIEW 8.5.1 and 2010.
The problem is that the installation process (for both versions) gives me a lot of errors related to Microsoft Visual C (code 1935), like the popups attached.
What could be happening?

LabVIEW 8.5.1 is not supported on windows 7. To LabVIEW 2010 you have turn off, during installation, firewall, antivirus and spyware blockers.

Developer error when installing Labview 2010
Dear Administrator,
I uninstalled my old version of Labview 7.1 with Windows "Programs and Features", and try to install Labview 2010. However, error occurs.
It says:
" Developer Error. The following errors were found in your ini file:
1. Specified file not found: [Utilities] UpgradeManagerPostProcessro = bin\nipie.exe

The first step I reccomend you try is to re-download the LabVIEW installer, and try to run it again. Also, make sure you have Administrator access on your computer.

Error 1935 when Installing LabVIEW 8.6 Student Edition
Hi,
I'm trying to help my son get the disks installed that came with his Circuits textbook. It is installing the student edition of LabVIEW 8.6 and getting an error, error 1935 to be exact, when trying to install the CVI package. The system is a 64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium OS. Looking over these boards it looks like this error can be generated because of Anti-virus issues and .NET 2.0 issues. I think I have disabled all the various anti-virus programs and I've installed the latest full version of .NET 4.0 and am still getting the error.

How do I get past Error 1913 when installing LabVIEW 7 Express
I get this error, yet I can see the file in the exact location the error tells me to locate it in. Apparently LabVIEW 7 does not create the labview.ini file. The file I see present was copied from LabView 6.

Are you trying to install to a mapped network drive? This is not supported so could be the cause. It could also be that you are trying to install on a NT/2000/XP machine in which case you need to have local administrator rights to be able to write to this file.

Create domain failure when installing forms 11gr2
I am trying to install forms 11gr2(11.1.2) 64 bit on a windows 7 64 bit OS. I have installed JDK 1.6.0_31 64 bit Java. I installed WLS 10.3.5 and did not run the quickstart or da any configuration. I installed forms 11gr2 without configuration option. When completed installing forms 11gr2 I went to start bar and selected configure classic instance. I select the defaults and it tries to configure. I keep getting failed when trying to create domain. I checked various articles and most have pointed to spaces in path statement. I ave created to junctions to Program Files and Program Files (x86). I changed the path statement and any other system variable that pointed to one of those directories. As a side note, I reboot everytime I make a change. The following is the last part of the log file showing the actual error.

Any help is appreciated as I have been trying to install the 64 bit forms and report developer products for a few weeks and keep receiving the same error. I have tried other versions, forms 11.1.1.2 and WLS 10.3.2, with the same results. Thanks in advance.I only have the 127.0.0.1 localhost entry uuncommented in the hosts file. Failure when installing Win 7 on freedos for HP15-AC057TU notebook
Just bought this low cost HP preloaded with freedos. But everytime tried to install Win 7 from CD, it stopped at blue screen. Is this problem relates to format of hd non ntfs or fat32? Or some other methods or solutions? Thank you.
Managed to download Windows 10 on another PC onto a pendrive and install in the notebook. However, activation problem arised because product key for Windows 7 was not recognised in Windows 10. Reading through microsoft websites, it was suggested to reinstall Windows 7 with the product key, then upgrade to Windows 10. When reinstalling Windows 7, the usb driver was left out, meaning cannot reinstall Windows 10 from the usb/pendrive. Therefore, had to revert back to Windows 10 from Bios/pendrive (back to square one). Just got an idea, to copy usb driver installer on the hd before reinstalling Windows 7. Just need the usb port to work to be able to reinstall Windows 10 on to Windows 7 (to solve the activation problem. Wish me luck.

What do i need to consider when installing labview on a virtual windows machine?
IT wants to get rid of all computers and wants us to run labview development for our new test lab from a virtual machine. Is this a good idea? What are the potential issues that I need to warn IT about?
Will you be able to communicate with all of the instruments through the netork?
Do they have a good reason for doing what they say they want to do?
They are going to put themselves out of a job. Once you have all your stuff virtualized on a network, the next step is them losing their jobs as they outsource network administration to India.
I think these virtual machines are just going to cause you more problems down the road even if you can get them working to some degree. I really think you need to fight these attempts by them. If they want to make this change, then it should be their resonsibility to prove to you that all will work properly before they try to implement their scheme rather than them forcing a change and making you try to prove to them that it won't work.
Here is one scenario I would pose that that works against their idea.
Do you have long running tests? Something where you set up equipment and the PC, and have it execute for a period of time continually collecting data? If something goes wrong during this test, is the test a waste, the test piece trashed? If you have a PC/real connection to your instrument, then even if the network goes down, the test should still be able to run successfully and the data collected. But now if you virtualize the PC and the network goes down, it basically takes down the heard of your program and your test is corrupted. Now they'll say they have back plans, redundant routers, blah blah blah. And it is usually rare that internal LAN's go down. But where is this server? Is it local to you or some other remote location? It is much more likely for the network to go down if you are jumping between buildings, states, even countries. And IT is notorious for needing to reboot a server, much needed security upgrades, blah blah blah, that will cause them to take down the virtual machine server. They may even promise that they'll notify you before they do such a step so that you can finish your test and make sure everything is clean and shutdown. But guess what, they never do. -
Failure when installing and no support!
I bought Creative Cloud CS6 package, but there has been an error while dowloading or installating. InDesign CC, Flash and Fireworks (which I don't use) is installed but not Photoshop and Illustrator (which I use all the time).
Here in Denmark there is no support from Adobe what so ever!
I feel completely outlawed and I can't get in touch with Adobe with the exception of nice (accommodating) support-people that I do not understand because of their indian accent - and through bad and scratchy telephone connections. I have spent many hours on this lousy so called 'support'!
I feel quite restless, and do not know what to do? I have no one to turn to. It is a scandal that Adobe are leaving us customers alone with our problems - our money is good enough but after we have payed ...! Is that Customer Care???
I have for many years used Adobe and always made a point of honor to pay for the programs I use as a natural thing. But after this experience with lousy Adobe Support I do not think I will concern myself about installing 'alternative' Adobe applications in the future!Have you tried contacting Adobe thru chat?
