XP suddenly won't recognize Jukebo

I have XP SP installed.
XP always used to recognize my Creative Nomad Jukebox 3. Then itstopped doing so.
Nothing happens when I plug it in either with the firewire or the usb2connection.
If I go the Add New Hardware route, it is listed under 994 or usbdevices, but then when I troubleshoot under USB for example, XP tellsme "USB Device Not Recognized -- one of the usb devices attached tothis computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
Other troubleshooting produces something like "Code0: Device won'tstart"
HOWEVER, when the device is connected to the computer, and I go theCreative website, and click its Automatic Software Update, the devicelights up and the website can download the latest software and dri'vesto it! And they are on there, when I check the device drivers.
So the remote website can talk to and download to the Nomad Jukebox, but XP still can't recognize it.
I should add, that XP recognizes all other usb and firewire devices Iattach.
I can't get out of the house because of a medical problem, but I hadsomeone who works for me plug it into the usb port of a windows 2000machine in her other office. that machine immediately recognized itand the wizard asked for the driver. i hadn't given her the driverand there wasn't time to go look for it online.
now, that would sound good, that the machine recognized it, exceptthat the screen of the portable device didn't change to the "connectedto computer" logo. i think it should have done that even without thedrivers on the windows 2000 machine installed, no?
Advice most appreciated!!

<EM>I can't find this or the other ones in 2 and 3. Could you tell me where they are please? They're not listed for the Jukebox3 with XP. Thanks!</EM>
Ah! You must look under a newer player like the Xtra or Touch. For some reason Creative don't list these drivers under the NJB3.
<EM>By the way, today when I plugged it in, XP said new hardware found, Creative Nomad Jukebox 3. I followed the wizard to install the drivers, and it said hardware is working. But neither My Computer nor Playcenter 3 recognizes it.</EM>
Odd. Try MediaSource, as above.
<EM>I took it to my friend who has a Mac with OS X. He plugged it in with both the firewire and then the usb, and the Mac didn't seem to recognize that something had been plugged into it.</EM><EM></EM>
The Mac doesn't support this player. It perhaps won't work, although see the section in the FAQ post on Mac support.

  • ITunes & iPhoto suddenly won't recognize my iPhone 4S

I've made some purchases recently both in and out of iTunes, so I decided I wanted to download them to my phone this morning. I plugged in my iPhone 4S (v7.1.2) and opened iTunes (v11.3), but iTunes wouldn't recognize the phone, even after I rebooted the phone, checked the cable, rebooted and reinstalled iTunes, etc.
My phone is charging, so my MacBook (which is running Mavericks OS 10.9.4) is definitely connecting to it.
But when I tried iPhoto, it won't recognize my phone, either. I rechecked the cable. It seems to be fine. I even tried a new cable. No dice.
What's going on? Anyone else experience this? It's the first time since I first starting using iPhones in 2008 that I've ever had this kind of problem.
    Thanks in advance!

What do you mean OS X won't allow you to uninstall iTunes?
Very rarely is needing to uninstall iTunes on a Mac before reinstalling required as is required with the spagetti code involved with Windoze.

  • Media Encoder suddenly won't recognize Quicktime files...

    Hi there...
I'm on a Mac, and out of the blue, Media Encoder suddenly doesn't recognize Quicktime .mov files.  It says this file format is not supported.  Which is weird, because it was supporting it just fine this morning!  Does anyone know what might be wrong or how to fix this?
    Thanks for your help!

Im having the same issue.  Were you able to resolve it?

  • ITunes Suddenly Won't Recognize Music Files

I have synced my iPod with my Toshiba laptop more times than I can count. When I opened iTunes this morning, iTunes did not show any of my music/podcasts, etc. After a moment of panic, I realized that everything was still on my computer and in my iPod, but it is as if this was a brand new version of iTunes. iTunes also "sses" my iPod, but will not let me change anything. I seem to recall accepting an automatic upgrade of iTunes recently (is this what I get for not using Safari?) but I think I have used iTunes since then. What gives? Do I need to reconstruct my library in iTunes? If so, will I lose my Playlists? Did the upgrade cause this problem?

yes i can play them with other players. i've tried 6.0.1 still the same problem. i had cleared my library, files kept of course, and just added my music folder to the library. they were all there before. i think it won't recognize cds that i've imported using musicmatch and itunes in the past. does anyone know why? thanks

  • Computers suddenly won't recognize TC

I have a 4th gen TC. It has been working fine but suddenly neither my MBP (Lion) or my iMac (10.7.4) will recognize/connect with the backup disk (the wifi connection is fine). I can see my TC on Time Machine, and have not changed any passwords. When I try to connect, I see "There was a problem connecting with Base-Station-5fff7f.local ". I have no idea what this is as it has not previously shown up- The disk I point my computers at in Time Machine is my TC, named after our family, not Base-Station-5fff7f.local. Does anyone have any idea what happened, or a possible solution? Should I just do a de novo set up of my TC? Thanks in advance

    Base-Station-5fff7f.local
I would say at a guess that your computer is connecting to the wrong wireless client.
Are you connecting by wireless on both computers? Is there an express or extreme in your network.
Should I just do a de novo set up of my TC? Thanks in advance
Yes, that is generally the way out of the problem.

  • Why my computer suddenly won't recognize my ipod

Can anyone tell me why my ipod classic suddenly is not recognized by itunes? It no longer shows up in my devices.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your Mac? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the Mac?
    How to reset iPod
Has this iPod ever worked on this Mac or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • IPhoto suddenly won't recognize camera

I've been importing from my camera all day because I'm making a claymation short but it has stopped recognizing it for no apparent reason. It's a jvc everio hd camera, it still shows up in the finder but iphoto doesn't say anything. I haven't changed any of my settings, so I don't understand why it stopped working. image capture doesn't recognize it either. could I imported have too many photos? I don't want to start deleting things until I've finished and the piece is safely on a dvd, just in case something goes awry with imovie.
    Thanks

Sometimes it is the answer - even on a Mac

  • Suddenly won't recognize memory card

Hi all. I have a MacBook OS X 10.5.8, have had it for a couple of years, and have always imported photos from my camera's memory card (Sony) to iPhoto via a USB card reader. Haven't ever had a problem with it, usually when I plug it in, iPhoto opens right up and everything's good.
Today, out of the blue, when I put the card in the card reader and plug it into the USB port, the computer doesn't seem to recognize that it's there at all. iPhoto doesn't open and nothing seems to indicate that the computer knows anything is plugged in to the USB - doesn't appear on the desktop or in Finder anywhere. The lights on the card reader light up when I plug in the card and when I plug in the USB to the computer, so it seems like the reader is working fine and recognizes a connection with the computer, but not vice versa. I have no idea why this is happening; I just used the exact same card less than a week ago and it worked fine. Since then I've downloaded one update from Apple (something about security), but I can't think of anything else that could be different.
Any ideas? I have some vacation pictures on there that I really would love to access! Thanks!

  • Suddenly won't recognize external hard drive

    Hi,
Yesterday, while my 3- or 4-year-old external hard drive was plugged into my MacBook Pro but not being actively used by me, I heard a faint "click" come from the external drive. Since I was done with it, I tried to drag the icon to the trash to eject it, but the icon turned a faded grey color, and a message popped up saying something like "The disk was not ejected properly, etc."
Now when I turn the external drive on, I can hear it starting up and the lights come on as always...but the icon won't show up on my desktop.
I can find the external drive in Disk Utility, but that's it. I clicked "Repair Disk" and "Verify Disk", but the icon still won't show up on the desktop.
My buddy tried connecting it to his PC laptop, and the same thing happened -- his computer knew it was there, but he couldn't open it and actually USE it.
-It's not the power supply, because it turns on.
-It's not my laptop's USB slots, because both of them detect other devices.
-It's not the USB cable itself, because the computer detects the hard drive via the cable.
-I opened up the enclosure, which is made by a brand name called "Anvesome" or something (The icon itself is called Afterthemac, and the sticker inside the case says Western Digital, and it was manufactured in 2005. The hard drive came in a box with less-than-perfect English grammar, if that means anything.
I had been using this external drive on my eMac for a few years, and about 7 months on my MacBook Pro with no problems. If anyone knows what's wrong with it, or how I can recover the data, that'd be great!
    Thanks!
    -Andrew

The enclosure should come with its own set of instructions. One end of the hard drive will have some pins, and it will just plug into a cable or connector. I personally like OWC enclosures, and here is a link for installation instructions for their external enclosures:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/tech_center/basictrob.cfm
Not knowing exactly which drive you have, I can't make a specific recommendation. I'm guessing that it may be a 3.5 inch SATA drive if it was bought to be used with an eMac, but you would probably have to find out for sure from the serial number. However, if you look at a set of installation instructions, you should be able to gain some insight as to how to remove the drive from its current enclosure.
You may also want to check with Western Digital, as they do have a link to some data recovery services should you ultimately need them:
    http://support.wdc.com/recovery/index.asp?lang=en&selregion=americas
However, professional data recovery can be very expensive, and if you can place the drive in a different enclosure and use one of the links eww gave you, you may be able to recover your data for a fraction of the cost.
Go ahead and get your new 2 TB drive and get your stuff backed up. I don't think it would hurt to let the old drive sit until you figure out what you want to do with it, as long as you don't let it sit for years and years.
At this point, we don't really know if the drive has physical damage or not. If not, data recovery costs shouldn't be too bad. If the drive actually has failed, then expect to pay a lot.
    Good luck!

  • CS4 suddenly won't recognize Nikon files

Is it really true Adobe is not going to offer the plugin necessary to make my less than a year old copy of CS4 compatible with my new Nikon D7000? Does anyone have the 6.3 plugin, or know where I can get it so I can try to hack it into my CS4? There is no way I will every buy another Adobe product if they are basically making my $300 program garbage in less than a year, so I would really like to know a way around this. The dng conversion is inadequate since I shoot thousands of photos. Thanks!

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

Ed, I doubt very much that the authors of a professional image processing package would even begin to consider leaving anything up to chance.
You do know that they provide the free DNG converter, so that anyone with a new camera CAN convert the very latest camera files to a format all the older Photoshops understand, right?  It's not like they're leaving people out in the cold.
People often seem to think it's okay to pay thousands for a new camera, but their old software should just be updated by the manufacturer for free...  And in this case it actually is, when you consider the DNG converter.  If you think about it, it's a brilliant strategy by Adobe.
But if you want the ultimate convenience of full integration and not having to do an extra step of conversion, well, then the old saying applies:  "If you want to play you have to pay".  Buy the Photoshop upgrade.
    -Noel
Sure they leave a ton of things up to chance. If they didn't they would actually come out with a version that didn't need updating 1, 2, 3 time over the course of it's life (wouldn't that be nice).
The DNG convert only works IF ACR and the convert has been updated to accept the new RAW file. That is why everytime a new ACR is released a new convert is released. If you have a old version of the convert try using it on newer camera files, it doesn't work. So everyone is still left out in the cold until Adobe gets around to updating ACR and converter.
No I'm not looking for any free upgrades to PS. I don't want Adobe to include whatever new features they may have in a newer version of PS and ACR ported back to the older version. But to UPDATE ACR to see newer cameras, say for at least one version, IE CS3's ACR never gets updates after CS5 comes out but they update CS4 ACR until CS6 comes out. You still don't get the newest feature set in the newer version. You just get newer camera models.
I play and I pay. I have had PS 6 CS2/3/4 and now 5. I could of just upgraded Lightroom and stayed with CS3 or 4 but I don't paticularly care for Lightroom and I rarely used the 2 versions I've had. Just like you don't use Bridge.
Oh and that other problem I was having with CS5 closing with a RUNTIME ERROR when you and I first butted heads. Funny but on the exact same hardware and the exact same OS, XP, on the exact same install of the OS. After a complete uninstall of PS and good cleaning of the registry and a reinstall I don't get those errors. So to me it was PS that was causing it.
Something in the lines of the *x*x*x MVM*x*x.xxx files being created on some random drive by PS and representatives of Adobe stating the it wasn't PS creating those files. It was some 3rd party plugin. When in fact it was PS that created them. I get them in the ROOT of my D drive. My D drive is where I have PS installed but is not used for image files or the PS scratch disk or system Temp.

  • My computer will charge my iPhone, but won't recognize or sync it?

My iPhone 4S was working perfectly fine, but now my laptop suddenly won't recognize it! This all started after I bought a new charger for my laptop. My other one quit working, so I bought a replacement, and now I'm having this problem. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I figured I would mention it.
Anyways, when I plug it in, it will charge, but it won't show up in My Computer or in iTunes. I know it's not the cable or the phone itself, because other computers will recognize it. I have tried pretty much everything. I've uninstalled iTunes and then reinstalled the latest version, I've gone through all of the troubleshooting things on the Apple support site. I've tried different cables and different USB ports also. One thing I've noticed is that when I go to my Device Manager, it doesn't even look like my iPhone is plugged in. It won't show up anywhere. I have no idea what to do next. Any ideas?

What happens when you have your computer well charged, but unplug your computer and let it run on battery power?
Does iTunes then recognize your iPhone?

  • IPod full but now won't recognize any files; how to fix without "restore"?

My iPod mini suddenly won't recognize any of my files or extensive playlists. I just uploaded several songs to it, and when I disconnected and tried to play it, it suddenly showed as completely empty, like I'd deleted everything. I plugged it back in, and while nothing shows up in iTunes with - no songs, no playlists - it says it's still nearly full.
Reading another thread, I found the files on the iPod through My Computer. So they are still there, but for whatever reason the iPod, literally suddenly, can't recognize them as present. How do I fic this WITHOUT having to restore the iPod and then re-add those files (and recreate all of my playlists?)
    Please, please help!

My ipod does not recognize touch all of a sudden. It is on, but I cannot use it because it won't recognize my touch! Help please!

-You stated: " It is on, but I cannot use it "
Does this mean that the iPod works fine but when you connect the iPod to your computer iTunes does not see - your iPod?
    - Have you tried:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    - If you really have OSX 10.6.x (not 10.5.8 as stated) try:
Mac OS X v10.6 or later: iOS device not recognized in iTunes after restart
    - Have you tried another cable and USB port?
    - If the iPod is not working then there are other things to try.
