Xp won't connect to wpa2-psk security enabled network

I have 3 laptops, 2 with win 7 premium and 1 with xp home edition, the win 7's will connect to the internet fine...but the xp won't connect at all, now if I turn off the security xp will connect fine, can anyone tell me what my problem is please?
Thank you Kindly for any help

1. Make sure, you verify under "Preferred Networks" click on the connection that's not working, click properties.
Verify WPA2 is an option in "Authentication". If it's not download the latest drivers for your wireless adapter, restart computer and check again.
2. Next problem is XP's Wireless Lan Manager; it is absolute garbage on XP for WPA2. I have seen many XP SP3 unable to connect to WPA2 because of this. You need to use the wireless manager that comes with your wireless adapter drivers. When
you install them opt to install with the software, not just the driver.

• Unable to connect to Wi-Fi connection using WPA2 PSK authentication and encryption type TKIP

My issue is copy/pasted below:
Original Title: TKIP selection in WiFi network settings
I have a workplace WiFi connection using WPA2 PSK authentication and encryption type TKIP.
On the machine I used to test Windows 10, I had a previous installation of Windows 7 professional which connected to my workplace WiFi using the above settings. After installing Windows 10, my workplace wifi settings were imported and worked fine.
Windows 10 had a system crash, and since I had deleted my previous windows installation, I performed a complete reinstall of Windows 7. However, when I went to install Windows 10 again, I had not taken the time to set up my workplace Wifi on Windows
7 before installing Windows 10. As a result, I had to set up my workplace wifi as a new connection in Windows 10.
When going to set up the wifi connection, the encryption type was grayed out, but appeared to default to AES. Searching the internet suggested that Windows 8.1 did not need a encryption type selected, because Windows could automatically determine
if it was TKIP or AES, hence why the option to select encryption type was grayed out. However, after completing the setup of my workplace wifi, Windows 10 could not connect to my workplace wifi. After restoring Windows 7 with a factory reset, and setting up
the workplace wifi (the encryption type selection was not grayed out and I manually selected TKIP encryption), my workplace wifi was working again.

• N95 8GB won't connect to EAP-TLS secured WLAN

Hi all,
Has anyone succeeded in connecting to EAP-TLS secured wifi network? I have an N95 8GB with the latest firmware (updated yesterday) that cannot connect to my office wlan.
I’ve been reading this forum (and others google found) and here’s what I’ve done:
* defined an access point with 802.1x security mode and EAP-TLS
* exported the certificate from my IE, imported it into the phone and selected it in the Personal Certificate filed
* selected the accompanying rootCA certificate as Authority Certificate (tried leaving it blank as well)
* tried different Ciphers just in case
Every connection attempt results in "EAP-TLS authentication failed" and I’m never asked for password.
I’ve been talking to our admin (I’m afraid he’ll start to hate me before too long ) and found out that after the firmware upgrade and a couple of hours of trying this-or-that I’ve managed to have proper username sent to the server. But the message remains.
Here’s a part of the event log forwarded to me by the admin (fully qualified username is stripped by him but it seems to be correct):
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: IAS
Event Category: None
Event ID: 2
Client-Friendly-Name = wifi2
NAS-Port-Type = Wireless - IEEE 802.11
NAS-Port = 46
Proxy-Policy-Name = Use Windows authentication for all users
Authentication-Provider = Windows
Authentication-Server =
Policy-Name = wifi
Authentication-Type = EAP
EAP-Type =
Reason-Code = 22
Reason = The client could not be authenticated because the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) Type cannot be processed by the server
As far as I can see my nokia cannot use a proper EAP-Type. Does anyone have a clue on what to do?
George
P.S. I believe we are using Radius server and a google search for the stated Reason gives a number of Radius-related results, but they describe cases when PC's cannot connect. I can connect to the wlan with my laptop with no prob (but it asks for credentials each time - don't know if it matters).

Hi
Even I am facing the same problem.
However Opera 8.65 is working fine with the said configuration

• WPA2 PSK security level?

My wireless Airport network is showing WPA2 PSK as the security being used when I check my phone. Is this a good level of security or should I be using something stronger?
Thanks?

PSK - Pre-Shared Key
That is to say you have shared the key with those systems that are going to connect before they can connect.

• IMac won't connect to the to the wireless network and internet when a laptop is connected

When a windows laptop is connected wirelessly to my router and the internet my Imac won't connect. If the Imac is connected wirelessly first it turns off when I connect the laptop. the iMac has once given me a message about the laptop using the same IP address. Can anyine help, I have been putting up with this for a year now and it's a real pain. Any help appreciated Many thanks
Joel

Check the company that you get your internet service from. High speed internet through a phone service modem allows for one connection as the modem is controlling the IP addresses. If you add a wireless to this connection, your modem will still allow for only one connection at a time. The wireless modem should be "in charge". Call the internet service provider and see if they will walk you through how to give permission to your wireless to assign IP addresses and not the modem they supplied.
If your Mac and PC both want the same address, you can tell your Mac to use a manual IP address. Go to:
system preferences/network
write down the IP address, subnet mask, and router numbers. On dropdown Configure IPv4 choose "using DHCP with manual address". Now put back in all the numbers you wrote down except in the IP address box, change the last digit to a higher or lower number.
Now the PC will be happy with the IP it chose and the Mac will, also.

• NetworkManager Won't Connect to WPA2 Enterprise Encrypted Network

I decided to switch back to using NetworkManager instead of wicd as my wireless protocol because I like how NetworkManager has a Gnome 3 applet and GUI that I can easily use to connect to wireless networks. Here at university, the "main" wireless network is WPA2 with PEAP Enterprise-level encryption. However, I've been unable to connect to that network through the NetworkManager GTK GUI. When I open up the network settings window, I can see a list of all available networks (with the "main" network being listed), however when I go to click on it to connect, it won't let me. The program won't try to connect or anything.
I'm using an Intel wireless card that I KNOW can connect to network (as it worked in wicd), however it won't now. And just in case I'm forgetting something, my current daemon's array is:
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng hwclock dbus networkmanager !netfs @gdm @crond @httpd @cupsd dropboxd)
Am I missing something here? Thank you for any and all help, and if I'm leaving out information, please let me know and I'll try to provide as much information as possible.
SOLVED:
I simply entered in all of the information by hand, and NetworkManager connected easily. I'll just submit this as a bug report somewhere.

I've been connecting through wifi-menu without problems since I installed Arch. As for nmcli, it gives me the following error:
[ralph@AnarchBox ~]$ nmcli dev wifi con AnarchNet password **********
nmcli: error while loading shared libraries: libnm.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I then checked libnm-glib, and it was not installed, even though it's a dependency for networkmanager. I still couldn't connect through nmcli, so I checked the other dependencies, and dhclient, iproute2 and libmm-glib were also missing. I installed them, and I still have the same problem I started with, both with nm-applet and nmcli (nmcli will just try to connect and then the nm-applet window asking for a password pops up, then tries to connect again and repeats).

We just changed our router, and now the wi-fi has the WPA2 security setting but I can't get my iPhone 4s to connect to it. The phone looks like it's connected, but when I try to go on an internet requiring app, it says that I am not connected to the internet. It was working for the first week or so after we changed the router, but it isn't anymore. I tried restoring my iPhone to factory settings but that didn't help either. What should I do?

all is good followed steps did not seem to help. made some changes to my wireless router settings and both phones now connect
not sure wich fixed the trouble but it is fixed

• Windows 7 client won't connect with 802.1x security

Having issues connecting a windows 7 dell laptop with cisco unified wireless infrastructure. Currently running 4 4402 WLCs and 1 wism. The client in question is trying to connect to an AP that sits on one of the controllers on the wism. WLC code running is 6.0.199. If I configure the windows 7 client to an ssid with wpa2 with preshared key it works with no issue. It's really problematic with 802.1x, wondering if there is addition settings on the adapter in win 7 that I'm missing or have overlooked.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions to a solution to my problem
Regards,
izzy

Windows is going to want to use the credentials that you login to the machine. SO if you logged is as "administrator" but you need to authenticated as domain\John.Smith you need to manipulate the credentials.
If you are logging in to the machine with valid domain credentiasl though, it becomes a bit more difficult.
So, is this the only type of machine having an issue? What is the driver version and chipset type?
you can run debug client < cliet ma address > and watch what is happening from the controllers persepctive. You can also see what username is being sent to the AAA server.
Cheers,
Steve

• Wifi won't connect to WPA2 network after waking from sleep, requires reboot

My office has a WPA2 network that I use my MBP to connect to. When I go home for the day, I close the MBP and put it to sleep. When I get home and open it, it automatically connects to my home wifi network. I do the same coming back to work and when it wakes up it shows a connection to the wifi network, but whenever I initially do any network task, the connection drops and I am unable to connect until I reboot my mac.
I've tried turning off the wifi before sleeping, then turning it back on, but it does the same thing.
Any ideas?

Hi,
I'm thinking about a trouble with the route table. Try this in a terminal session after startup:
netstart -rn
ping <network address>
After somes answer, close the cover to go to sleep mode.
Open the cover and look the result of the ping command
Normaly you don't have a network
cancel the ping command and redo the netstat commande
Normaly some rows are missing in the result (i don' know why)

• 3rd Gen Touch won't connect to my parents' secure wifi with correct key

Here's the situation-- the iPod was connecting fine to their wireless router as little as a few days ago, with the same WPA key that I myself set up for them a couple of years back. Well, yesterday I had to restore the iPod because I was moving it to a new computer and a new installation of iTunes, and the "Erase and Sync" command wasn't working as it was supposed to (it kept insisting that an extra 20GB was needed on my 32GB iPod, even though I have <13GB of music and about that much in apps and podcasts, but it wouldn't budge from its mistaken opinion, so I had to do a full restore (Honestly, Apple, can't you make this process easier?).
All that BS aside, when I went to my folks' place tonight and re-entered the key, it didn't work, even when I tried it twice to make sure I wasn't making typos. Same thing happened to a friend of mine the other day with his iPad. I know the key is right because my mom's laptop connected just fine tonight, even when I reset the key in the router admin page (just to make sure no one had changed it in the meantime). What gives? Some problem with the latest iPod software (5.0.1)? And yes, I've checked and my iPod does have a wifi MAC address.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

• IPhone 5 won't connect to WPA2 wireless network

I just got a new iPhone 5 from AT&T and it will not connect to my AT&T home wireless network. I keep getting "unable to join network "SSIDNAME". It has connected before but briefly before dropping the connection. When it does connect, the access is extremely slow. I see a thread on this issue and hope there is a fix soon.

I've rebooted the AT&T supplied wireless router which helped with the connectivity issue but when I do get connected, the Safari browsing is painlessly slow and I can't seem to get the full bandwidth potential as I did with my old iPhone. I'm returning my iPhone 5 to AT&T soon if this doesn't get resolved soon.

• Won't connect to email servers when switching networks!

I get spontaneous "Wrong User name and password" error messages when nothing has changed and I'm in the exact same spot. It just suddenly appears.
WORST OF ALL, When I switch from Wifi To Edge or vice versa, the iphone just hangs at "connecting to server" when checking email. Have to do a restart for it to check in to the mothership and get new mail. And even then, it's not 100 percent effective.
Many times I get mail headers but it won't download the message itself. Very frustrating. any news or thoughts?

Hey Tommy,
Is this a POP email account that is getting locked? It may be pop locked if two email clients are connecting to the server at the same time. This article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307009 provides more detailed information.
Also, if the Mail application appears to be stuck at checking mail you can force quit the application. Just hold down the home button for about 7 seconds. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2032

• Leopard 10.5.8 won't connect to Mavericks on local wifi network

I have a late 2009 27" Intel iMac running 10.9.4 and an old G5 running 10.5.8 , both on my home wifi net. Prior to upgrading my iMac to Mavericks, I was using Lion and was able to connect these two machines for file and screen sharing. Now I can't figure out how to get this function back. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Today, I can no longer see each device in the Finder Sidebar. Or at least it's intermittent. When I can see it, and try by clicking on the item, I get a message that
"There was a problem connecting to the server XXXXX. The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
