XP x64, all surround speaker signals going to front speakers
Wanted to document an issue I found while trying to use my audigy 4 card with XP x64. Yes, I know you are probably looking at my spec at the bottom and asking why use XP x64. Or why after spending so much money on the pc, could you not afford a better sound card? Or why not use the on-board audio?
Well I am awaiting to upgrade the sound card until a few more HDMI enabled cards come to the marked this year. Also I wanted to play some older games that support eax (which my on-board audio does not support fully) and did not want to go through setting up the emulation stuff in Vista.
Anyway after getting the OS setup, I started looking at the sound setup and discovered that all but the two front speakers are not working. If set to 7. in audio console and windows audio panel then the signals to the side and rear speakers either don't work or come out of the front two speakers.
Odd I thought since vista, I am using on my another hard disk (I just select which HDD I want to boot from at boot), using the same driver version, the sound works perfectly (so not a hardware or cabling issue).
I tried drivers:
SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe
SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006.exe
SBAX_PCDRVBETA_US_2_8_000.exe
In that order. All gave the same results. Did the normal things like driver cleaning etc.
Then just for a laugh after hearing about old resolved issues with the drivers on systems with more than 4 Gb's of Ram, I removed some of my memory. And low and behold when only one? of the 3 channels of 2 Gb of memory is installed then it all works, full surround is back. But with 2 channels for a total of 4 Gb or 3 channels for a total of 6Gb of ram, I get this problem of only getting sound from the front two speakers.
When I get the time I will try installing XP x32 to see if it not being able to all of my memory will help. Will post if it makes any difference.

Stereo surround worked well although. In my old mobo, Asrock Dual Sata 2 had an option to disable the 4Gb ram detection. Although I had 3Gb, with this option disabled I only accessed 2,8 Gb, no big deal. I survi'ved. But with my new Asus M3A32-MVP there was no option to disable 4Gb detection, and for that, the issue is always present in XP x64.
It's driver compatibility with XP x64. That's all. Audigy driver can't handle it in XP x64. In Vista/7 is fixed, but not in Windows XP x64 Edition. I tried the same steps that you did, with the same results. XP 32 bit worked well, because it also didn't recognize the full RAM.
The funny thing is I contacted CL tech support and they said all worked well for them. Furthermore EAX effects doesn't wok either (check F.E.A.R. for example).
Sorry, CL tech support HAS TO fix this. I don't know why they have forgotten XP x64 users.

The problem with Creative forum moderators and the like is that they have used their products so often that they forget the basic really simplistic things and as a result have a lot of frustrated customers (As indicated by the number of?problem posts?when this really need not be the case)?After building myself a media center with Windows XP (Yes the best DVD backup software is made for XP) my?X-Fi card Surround, Centre and Front Speakers were all mapped together for sound. The problem arises because of the Windows default settings which need to be changed when insatalling the sound card. Which I believe a good driver should be doing anyway. This is the menu path:StartControl PanelSounds and Audio DevicesAudioAdvancedPerformanceHardware Acceleration slide indicator should be on Full, then Apply?At this stage I got all the Speakers to work independently except the Subwoofer?I am not one to sit and study a user manual comprehensi'vely before attempting installation. I normally look for any serious warnings or precautions adhere to them and then slap the thing in and usually everything just happens in the correct sequence or that is how it should be with a new piece of hardware anyway. I use the manual more for problem solving. Anyways my point is that I have not read the manual in depth yet but all must be aware that you need?4-part jacks to get the most out of your?X-Fi sound card. The extra?points are required?in the Center/Subwoofer and Rear Speaker jacks because the extra connections within these jacks are used for SPDIF out on the Center/Subwoofer Jack and Side speakers for your 7. system on the rear speaker jack. (I dunno why they don't just put in 2 extra jacks that are the normal 3-part jacks .....or perhaps it's a way to force you to buy creative speakers which come with very rare?4-part jacks)?The subwoofwer can only be made to work if you pull out the 3-part jack just enough to make the correct contact with the card that gives you subwoofer signal.

Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forum. I have one question have you tried doing a system restore back to before this problem started. Something has updated or changed in the drivers or Operating system to cause this.
Have you removed both audio drivers and just ran with the AMD audio driver.
Now did you try this when you removed your drivers. Try booting into safemode and remove the two audio drivers.
Download your software and drivers for your system and save to dvd or usb memory stick.
Run the Recovery manager to restore software and drivers to factory spec.

Now if that fails try doing the full Windows 8 recovery.

I have spent hours on the phone with Apple and AT&T. I went thought reset, on/off, etc, etc with both companies to no avail. Each company pointed fingers at the other....as being the source of the problem.
Problems: Suddenly ALL incoming calls were going directly to VM with no signal I missed calls and/or had VM. I was also unable to receive all Text Messages...Oddly, I could send text messages to anyone (even non-apple users but I could not receive their responses)........then I when I got home I started receiving text messages from other apples users ONLY. I assume now - iMessage kicked in and I could text (send/receive) other iPhone/iPad/iTouch users ONLY. ....yes, I could still (send) text messages to my husband's blackberry (he received my messages fine) but my phone would NOT receive his text respones.
Finally, I googled the problem and found this community where other people have had the exact same problems! One person said he "turned off 3 G" which was the solution for him....so I did the same and VIOLA! My problem solved! Nevermind the fact that I pay for 3G and cannot use it....so here's my question, if 3G is the problem on my phone is this an APPLE issue or a NETWORK problem? Do I purchase a new phone and slip in my same SIM card and hope the same does not occur or do I get a whole new SIM card and phone? What is the long term resolution to this problem?
I am happy however to find that my problem is NOT an isolated incident and wish Apple or AT&T had told me this is not so uncommon because I thought (based on the baffled response from Apple) that this has never occurred before. Where is Steve Jobs when we need him?jsavage9621,

iMac will not load internet sites, despite having all green lights (strong WiFi signal etc) on the Network Diagnostics screen. in other words there is a strong
internet wifi signal going into the iMac but the machine does not connect to the internet. I OS 10.9.5. Other devices work fine with the same internet signal.iOS 10.9.5 does not exist.
iOS refers to the operating system on iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touch.
10.9.5 was never a version of a Classic operating system.

I can't use the surround mixer to test all the speakers, only front left and right speakers work on the test, i have to open to wav files directly to test the center speaker, the rear speaker test doesn't work from the wav file
My Denon system only has analog stereo inputs, so this is my only option for letting Sound Blaster know I have 5 speakers.
I've uninstalled all SB Li've software and drivers from the unipack, and reinstalled the orignal drivers and apps from the CD-ROM SBP5-CDSD-W-US MID : 32680 5-Sep-2000 and the Li've!Surround speaker setting reappears in the Surround Mixer.
Is the Li've!Surround setting no longer available in the new Surround Mixer in Li'veDrvUni-Pack (English) SBLW-XPWEB-W4-US 28-Feb-03 ?

it seems Li've Surround is no longer supported in the new drivers
....so what would be the best setting to play ac3 files or DVD's through my receiver with only 2 analog inputs (left and right) available w/ Dolby surround prologic. Should I set it to 2 speaker or 4 speaker setting in the Surround Mixer in order to send the best signal to the prologic decoder on my receiver with 5 speakers (2 front, center, 2 rear) -

My externaldecoder is correctly identifying the output stream as DD/DTS and the front speaker and subwoofer works fine. Also when using my Xbox 360 the sounds correctly get to the rear speakers, so this is likely not a problem of my decoder.
Anyone had a similar problem to this? Any idea why this happens?

nVidia Geforce 9800 GTX+H I noticed this doesn't just happen with DDL/DTS Connect. The same behaviour happens when I connect my headphones to the plugs on the back of my computer. The rear plugs don't output anything, while the front plugs have "double" output.
I tried all kinds of different drivers, always removing the previous ones and restarting before trying a new one. Right now I'm with the official 2.8.003 X-Fi driver.

I TUNES WON'T PLAY MY LIBRARY IN 5.1 SURROUND SOUND ON MY DELL 4600 COMPUTER. I HAVE ALTEC LANSING SPEAKERS THAT ARE WIRED THROUGH THE PORTS IN THE REAR OF COMPUTER. IT PLAYS ONLY FRONT SPEAKERS AND SUB WOLFER, BUT YOU TUBE VIDEOS PLAYS IN ALL 5 SPEAKERS. I HAVE A WINDOWS 7 OPERATING SYSTEM. I TUNES LIBRARY PLAYED CORRECTLY IN 5.1 SURROUND SOUND WITH WINDOWS XP ON THE SAME COMPUTER, BUT CHANGED WITH WINDOWS 7 OS. THE DRIVER SETTINGS ARE CORRECT AND SET TO 5.1 SURROUND SOUND AND WHEN GOING THROUGH SPEAKER TEST, ALL 5 SPEAKERS PING. iS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO GET THE REAR SPEAKERS TO PLAY FROM MY I TUNES LIBRARY?

I switched from an iPhone to an LG g2, but now all my iMessages keep going to my old iPhone rather than the new one. Time Machine will not let me restore from backups after June, 2013. I can see the files on the external hard drive but Time Machine skips all of them and goes back to June, 2013. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?

I just bought the new ipod touch, but when I try to sync it I get told to use the cloud and download from there. How do I sync it to my itunes so that I get all my songs without going through cloud? Otherwise if this isn't possible I am taking this back!

when i try to access the itunes store to buy music, it loads at the top and says connecting to itunes store..then it loads all the way and goes to a blank page. it loads and seems like it is will work, but then goes to a blank page. Why is it doing this?

VFL Speaker sound from both the front speakers while FR sound is not coming out at all.
I have a creative gigaworks s750 connected to a xtreme gamer sound card. The system was working absolutely fine but now it has started behaving very strangely; system is playing back Front Left Speaker sound from both the front speakers while Front Right sound is not coming out at all. If i click the front right speaker in audio console speaker setup wizard, no sound comes. However when i click the front left speaker, sound comes out of both speakers. I counter checked it with playing 5.1 dts movie and muting all the speakers except the front left one from ac3 filter, sound came out of both the front speakers. However when i muted all the channel except the front right, no sound was coming out of front right speaker.

I was convinced it was a damaged headphone jack because I had pushed the headphone plug in harder the last evening when my wife complained that she could still hear the speakers while I listened with the headphones. The next morning--no speaker sound.
I spent a few hours searching the web to see how to disassemble a satellite A505 and get to the jack. But I wasn't even sure I could get a proper replacement jack that fit, and I was concerned that small damage, say to the ribbon connectors could render the computer useless--a large price to pay for just missing audio.
Fortunately, I stumbled onto this thread and I recalled I had put the unit to sleep the night before--something I don't usually do, but I didn't want all the Chrome web sites to have to reload so I just put it to sleep.
When I put it to sleep again and fired it up--Sound! I am so glad to find this solution so I just want to let people know it remains a viable option.

my daq 6008 wil not drop the 5V on a digital output after the VI is stopped, i have a digital signal going from the error out on the daq in the while loop to the error in on the daq outside the while loop and a boolean going to the data of the daq outside, but i can t seemto get it to work

I just made a flash news scroller where the news headlines are dynamic text and have different urls provided in the link section. But when I click on any of them, they all go to the first link only. Am I supposed to set something here to stop it from doing so?

Well all the other links are under the first headline, which I am making transparent for the others to appear, but not removing from the stage. Hence even though the first headline is not visible, it is still the top link on the screen, causing everything to go there.
Any suggestions on how I can make it appear below the newly visible headline?? They are all arranged one below the other. -
