Xperf doesn't show stacks on Windows 8.1 Pro

Hi,
Here is what I do:
xperf -on BASE+PROFILE -StackWalk PROFILE
Perform the actions.
xperf -stop -d
_NT_SYMBOL_PATH=SRV*C:\Development\Symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols
When I open the resultant ETL file in XperfView, the stack column shows all "?!?", which supposedly means the stacks are collected in the trace, but somehow XperfView cannot decode them.
Is this because Xperf is no longer supported in Windows 8.1?
Thanks,
Pai-Hung

Hi,
Please check with them what is the new bandwidth. Your laptop only knows 2.4GHz and may be the same for your phone (Motrola ?). They won't know other bandwidth.

  • Extras notes --- iPod works fine in iTunes, but doesn't show up in Windows

    Hi all!
    Gotta wierd situation.
My iPod works fine in iTunes.
I have had 'Enable for Disk Use' enabled for a long time. However, my iPod doesn't show up under My Computer on WinXP.
I'd like to add some new Notes and remove some old ones, but you have to do that thru Windows, not thru iTunes.
Any ideas how to fix this problem?

    hi marky!
i noticed one thing. the iPod is formated as FAT32, but i have my HD in NTFS. could this be related?
no, that one's normal. we need to leave her as FAT32. see:
iPod no longer plays music after formatting or partitioning the hard disk
hmmmmm. it's like the "enable disk use" setting is just refusing to stick for you.
but maybe we've got a window of oppportunity while it's doing that initial sync. the rules seem to be different for you then.
maybe try switching enable disk use off. then eject her, and plug her back in again (while you've got itunes already running).
the second she shows up in the itunes sourcelist, try diving into the preferences tab, and re-enabling disk use.
(i checked, and it's possible for me to do this with attractive beast ... hoping here that doing the "enable disk use" under these circumstances might get it to stick for you.)
    love, b

  • {Solved} Windows 8.1 Doesn't show users when windows loads, only shows options for accessibility and shutdown/restart

I just recently come into a problem on a dell all-in-one, where the computer has been updated to windows 8.1 and doesn't show users, only a blue screen with the power options and accessibility options and here is how I fixed it.
Note: you will lose your desktop apps
    1. Turn on computer and let load to the blue screen with the options
    2. While holding down shift click on the power button and then click restart (while still holding shift)
    3. Hold shift until the advanced recovery options comes up
    4. click on Troubleshoot>Refresh your PC
    5.Enter password for user account
    6. Let it do its magic

    Hi,
Thanks for your sharing. And it will benifit others who encounter the similar issue as yours.
This issue can be caused by corrupted winlogon components.
You are right to refresh to repair the system.

  • My ipod classic doesn't show up on windows or itunes, i have restored it quite a few times, it doesn't seen to make any difference

my ipod classic (new to me- ebay) does not show up on windows or in itunes, i've gone thru troubleshooting, can't really tell if i've successfully restored it or not, and can't seen to add it to my device mgr. I have tried rebooting computer, any ideas would be great

    Hello bithedz,
Have you had a chance to look at this Apple support document related to your issue? If not, it would be a good place to start.
[iPod not recognized in iTunes and Mac desktop|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1410]
And if no luck there, try manually forcing your iPod into *Disk Mode* using the instructions provided in this Apple support document with your iPod connected to your Mac. This should help your iPod mount as an external drive at least on your system so that you can view it from a Finder window and perform a reformat on it if desired.
    [Putting iPod into Disk Mode|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363]
And if you are able to finally get your iPod recognized by iTunes, I would definitely recommend performing a restore of it there.

  • IPod Doesn't Show In iTunes (Windows XP)

My iPod Classic won't show up in iTunes because earlier, I had accidentally checked a box on my iPod settings (within the iTunes program) that said not to display settings for that iPod in iTunes automatically, or not to automatically sync the iPod. If you know how to sync the iPod manually and set iTunes back to its original settings of just plugging in the iPod and automatically getting the settings menu, could you please help me? Thanks!

I had a similar problem after accepting an ipod software update on 1/4/08. Mine began the restart, with the progress bar appearing on the ipod screen. It did go all the way across, but then my ipod began restarting itself over and over again. It kept doing this when I disconnected from the PC, tried connecting to another pc, and tried plugging in to an electrical outlet. I finally got it to start by following the "put into disk mode" instructions (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651). I did have to press the "select" and "play" buttons immediately once the logo appeared after I pressed the "menu" and "select" buttons. Once in disk mode I reset the ipod and it's working fine now. Hope this helps.

  • My app doesn't show up on Windows Store

Hi. I published an app and then removed the app's listing for a reason. After a few minutes, I restored the app's listing. Everything seems okay but whenever I clicked the link of my app, the website says "This product is not available". MSDN says
that it make take a while to list the app again in the Store. However, it has been one day, still no fix. No one can download my app. What should I do?

  • Floating window doesn't show X-Out window

When I open a floating window there is no visible way to close it. If I don't use a border I can faintly see the X at the top right of the window. How do I make it more visible?
    Thankyou

In the extended version there's a mulimedia button. I added my video to the document, then In the advanced options I chose "play content in floating window." I've even tried changing the skin colors and using various border thickness. The best I can get is a very faint X.

  • Child list as a table doesn't show data until window is resized.

    Hi,
I am trying to develop a page made up of a list of objects. Each object has some properties that I want to display as a form and then a child list of objects. This child list of objects, i am displaying as a table. I have the following page and backing bean. Normally, to display a list of objects each of which has a sublist of objects, I can use a "nested iterator". But I am not able to refer to the child iterator as a part of the parent iterator.

The child list i am getting onto the page via the backing bean. *"#{backingBeanScope.backing_frmBuilder9.childData}"*
The problem I am facing here is, the first time the page loads I am not able to see the child data in the table. If I resize the page, then I am able to see the data in the child table. Anybody faced this issue before ? And any way to overcome this problem ? Please let know.
    Thanks,
    pawan.

There is no check box for Advanced Options as they're already there when editing. Except for the partition options, which obviously aren't.
This was mentioned time ago and I'm pretty sure they have an enhancement planned for this. Might be a looong time until you get it though. Better request this officially on the SQL Developer Exchange, so other users can vote on the request and add weight for sooner implementation.

  • Lnstalled Arch alongside windows 8.1 (uefi), grub doesn't show up

    Hello people,
I've been following the Beginner's guide to install Arch on my laptop (HP) via the arch.iso on usb flash drive. I have windows 8.1 already installed and I'd like to install Arch alongside it, in uefi mode too.
I could follow most of the steps in the guide, installing arch, grub, ran pacstrap, installed lxde, gummiboot, efibootmgr, etc. But in the end when I reboot, grub doesn't show up and Windows 8.1 boots instead. I even used efibootmgr to display the order of booting (and seeing that Windows was in front of grub), changed the order of booting but to no avail; when rebooted, Windows booted up.
Some information: My efi partition was created by Windows so I used the same partition for Arch's uefi, namely /dev/sda2.
    I've got a / partition at /dev/sda6 and a swap partition at /dev/sda7.
    I've perfomed the commands
    grub-install /dev/sda
but was told that it was wrong (on IRC) and thus I later installed it on the efi partition.
    I generated grub.cfg twice:
    grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.conf
but I was told that this was wrong and so I also did
    grub-mkconfig -o /mnt/boot/efi/grub.conf
because the efi partition was mounted at /mnt/boot/efi.
I've also created some files related to gummiboot as the Arch wiki stated to do and set Arch as default OS to boot, but that didn't seem to work.
Lastly I've also booted into the firmware and I have set to boot from usb first, then OS. (I don't see Linux/Windows choices there, only OS). And yes I disabled secure and fast boot.
P.S.:This is my first Arch installation, I come from Lubuntu/Manjaro and I bought this hardware for the purpose of learning Arch Linux (so I really, really, really want to install Arch on it).
    Thanks for any help!

    JeromeDGDG wrote:Hello linux_dream.
First, archlinux is for boot exactly the same than other linux distributions. It mount by a boot manager first (grub for exemple).
So, first of all, you absolutly need to creat a /boot partition with some required tools (have some differents) and then, mount it on /boot. This partition need to be FAT32 with around 512MB (mine is 256MB and works fine) and be gpt/UEFI and bootable. There is specific parameters to pass to the tool at format partition time (but if you followed the wiki, all of this is ok now...).
    Hello Jérome,
I do have an uefi partition (FAT32) thanks to Windows. It is on /dev/sda2, so I mounted it as /mnt/boot/efi  where I had mounted /mnt as root.
    JeromeDGDG wrote:
    Then...
you have to see the /boot partition you created on your BIOS. The bios, is the first thinks the computer run at boot time (before everythings). Then go inside your bios and check options around boot and see boot list (sometimes, when change config, you have to reboot again the bios for see the changes on boot list appears). Then on your boot list from BIOS, you have to see your grub /boot partition (mine is named égrub_archlinux" viewed by the boot list of my bios) and make it boot first (or just after usb and cdrom if you prefer...). If not, this grub will never been mounted and windows will start first.
Also, if you are confused with command tools on linux systems and you not sure your partition boot is not well created, you can easily used gparted gui tools (do a bootable cdrom and use it for partitions or check...).
In the BIOS I don't see anything related to grub nor Arch. However in the uefi settings, I do. To access these settings is tedious, I need to boot Windows, click on reboot while maintaining the Shift key, selecting "troubleshooting", go to uefi settings, reboot and then press F9 to enter there. There I can see grub, Arch and Windows and I can enter in Arch from there. So I don't need the arch.iso flash drive anymore, I prefer to boot from my hard disk.

That doesn't make much sense -- you say you have "installed gummiboot" but also that "Windows was in front of grub [sic]" in your NVRAM entries -- which did you install, GRUB or gummiboot?
Also, installing a desktop environment (LXDE) is mentioned nowhere in the Beginner's Guide.
I installed both Grub and gummiboot (in that order). Yeah I installed LXDE because I thought everything went fine (grub recognized Arch when it generated the .cfg file), I only saw the problems when I rebooted: grub doesn't show up.
    head_on_a_stick wrote:
The actual command you should use is:
    # grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=$esp --bootloader-id=grub --recheck
I did that command too, where I took care to replace $esp by /mnt/boot/efi if I remember well. The command worked.
    head_on_a_stick wrote:
    Again, the command should be:
    # grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
As stated in the ArchWiki page I have linked above.
Make sure you have mounted all your partitions and used `arch-chroot` before running these commands.
I did that command, it generated files and recognized 3 images (linux, initramfs and another thing I don't remember). Again, if I remember well.
    head_on_a_stick wrote:
Please post the content of /boot/loader/loader.conf & /boot/loader/entries/arch.conf (if that is what you've called it) and the output of:
    lsblk -f
    ls -R /boot
    # parted -l
    # efibootmgr -v
Again, run all these commands after you have mounted all your partitions and used `arch-chroot` from the live Arch ISO.
You can use sprunge to generate a link to their pastebin for the command output:
    <command> | curl -F 'sprunge=<-' http://sprunge.us
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Li … in_clients
Unfortunately I'm having a very hard time to make the curl command work, I think that it's due to my keyboard layout and I can't seem to write the correct apostrophes (mines seem curvy) nor the correct " sign. Here's the error that I get (manually copied):
returned Warning: Illegally formatted input field!
curl: option -F: is badly used here.
curl: try 'curl --help' or 'curl --manual' for more information
. I've been seeking help for around 20 minutes on #archlinux (IRC) to no avail thus far.
So I entered some of the commands you mentionned and I took some photos of them.  See the 5 photos at https://imgur.com/QN8FBZ1,RLbSe2u,73o1w … ,aBTxNNF#0
Of course it would be much better if I could find a way to make the curl command work.

  • IPod not showing up in Windows explorer / iTunes - not responding to reset

I have updated my new (1 day old!!) iPod nano to the newest firmware (1.1.1.)... and now I can't use the iPod anymore.
It doesn't show up in Windows Explorer. When I try to connect to it via Run, it says: 'E:\ is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable'
When trying to open Windows Explorer, it freezes - not showing any harddrives.
When trying to connect to it via CMD (dos)... It reads: 'The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable'
I have tried all the soft resets, hard resets etcetera. I have uninstalled the USB driver for iPod, uninstalled iTunes, reinstalled them both, used different USB ports. But still no success.
I can't connect to it via iPod Updater, because Windows won't connect to it.
The iPod itself does respond, although I can't find any data on it anymore.
How do I get my iPod to work again: connect to my windows / iTunes player? Please, any help is appreciated!
    iPod nano 4GB   Windows XP

I have tried all the 'Rs' that Apple recommend. As said, I can't hook up the iPod to my computer. I have tried to reset the iPod manually (holding the select and menu button) - but this doesn't work.
If there is another (manual) way to restore the iPod, I would love to hear about it.
As said: as for restoring the iPod - I can't get any contact with my iPod with my computer at all.

    1) We display a BITMAP image using Windows.StretchBlt() function on the titlebar of the app. It shows up properly in windows server 2003, win XP and win 7. But doesn't show up in windows server 2012. I am assuming its a windows paint issue because button
is there on titlebar as I can click on it and see the expected behavior. But its just not visible.
    Here is some technical workflow:
-> This function get called to paint the framwnd-
            CMainFrame::OnNcPaint()
                 CMDIFrameWnd::OnNcPaint();
// here we have code to paint the bitmap
Could anyone here please tell me why the same code is behaving differently in win server 2012? Also if there is any solution for this.

This forum is more of a general purpose forum about Windows Server.  You question is more closely related to programming issues.  You would be better served to post in a .NET development forum.

  • InDesign - newly installed panel doesn't show up under extensions

Installed Adobe Exchange panel for Indesign CS6, searched for SuperOverlay creator, installed it with no errors, restarted InDesign but the panel menu item doesn't show up under Window > Extensions. Am I doing this correctly? I've reinstalled the extension a number of times and restarted InDesign many times with no success.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Hey Jonathan—Yeah it's weird, but it's newer software so some bugs are understandable. No worries, happy to help resolve a more core problem if I can.
Yes, it has been showing up in My Stuff on the AE panel the whole time. I opened my Extension Manager and uninstalled the SuperOverlay Creator, went back to InDesign, installed the panel again, restarted InDesign, still no dice under Window > Extensions.
Throwing some screenshots up here for you, please let me know if you see anything wrong that I should be changing.

  • Contact entered on iPad but doesn't show on iphone or computer

I'm using iCloud on iPad, iPhone, and my Mac Pro. I entered a contact on my iPad three days ago, but it doesn't show on my iPhone or Mac Pro.
iCloud is on on all three devices under the same account. Help?

    Thanks for the followup!
You can set the default calendar for new events with this info from the iPad iOS 8 user guide:
There are several settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars that affect Calendar and your calendar accounts. These include:
    Default calendar for new events
And to add your Gmail contacts to your Contacts in the Menu Bar:
Contacts can manage your contact information from other accounts, such as Facebook and Google. Just add those accounts (choose Contacts > Add Account), and you’ll have access to all your current contact information from anywhere.

.Jabber for Windows 9.2.1 Contact "Away" status doesn't show duration. I am wondereing if it is possible with Cisco Jabber client. Microsoft OCS client used to show.

    Hi,
This is currently not supported in Jabber.
If you think that this feature should be in Jabber, you can open a TAC case and do Enchancment request with them?
