Xperia phone

I bought my phone from T-mobile about 4 months ago and it was working fine until I updated the phone to the new Android software. Now it's super slow and glitches particularly on the keyboard. There are times it just turns off on its own or the screen just stays black.
Is there any way that I can return to the old software or something?
Also when I got the phone It had a t-mobile warranty but I didn't want to pay their fee, is that the same thing as the Sony warranty? If they're not can i find out if I still qualify for the warranty or if I ever had it?
Thanks

  • Sony says 2011 Xperia phones might get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Hi! looks like not all is lost!
    http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2195619/sony-says-2011-xperia-phones-might-get-android-41-j...

The information has been confirmed on the product blog (http://blogs.sonymobile.com/products/2012/07/31/on-android-4-1-jelly-bean/).
At least, it shows that Sony has not let their customers and older products down, contrary to what is said by some angry and impatient customers. Yes, software development takes time, and Sony may have been a little fast to release its ICS for every phones. But this news proves that Sony is looking into every possibility to improve its users experience.
I heartily hope that my neo v will get Jelly Bean and its new functions, with improved performances compared to ICS. So thank you Sony for considering it.

    HI All,
I am using the Sony Ericsson  Xperia Neo V and my friend is using the Sony Xperia Sola.
Widgets and features that are available in Sony Xperia phones are not available in Sony Ericsson Xperia Phones even after upgrading my phone to android ICS.
Can any one please tell me, Why this difference.
    Or
Is their any way to get those features ,easy shortcuts to some frequently used settings and nice widgets
Finally. If these are not available for sony ericsson mobiles . Please do give us those features as an separate update.
    Thanks
    Lokesh.

    Hello lokeshkumarn
You are right, unfortunately some apps are made available only for certain models, also some carriers may request some apps to be included or be left out of their custom firmware.
Most of the additional widgets and apps are available in the Play store for you to download.

  • Battery changes in newer Xperia phones ...

I am currently looking for a new (smart?) phone. Initially I found the newer Xperia models quite interesting ... until ...
I found most models do not allow changing the battery by the customer.
I see that Apple is crapping down their devices (batteries glued into MacBook, iPhone, ...) like that ... since I know that I have decided to keep my fingers from Apple products.
Seems like Sony is now walking the same ThrowAwayProduct path as Apple.
Folks, you know that people do have to change their phone's battery. You also know that it's even more likely with smart phones as they usually have more charge cycles / year than "old" regular mobiles.
For sure the majority of customers are also willing and capable to exchange the battery of their phone on their own - if you just let them.
I have no nerve to search for Sony service centers, find time during my working day to get the battery changed, wait there ... and finally spend money for few mechanical steps I would be able to do on my own if the device was properly designed.
I was really sooo close buying an Xperia ... now I look for another brand probably.
So when will Sony come back to greener paths?

Well, it's true that some of our models use a built in battery (for example Xperia T and Xperia S), and we have done so for some time (X10 Mini I believe was the first Android unit with built in battery). But we also offer products with replaceable batteries, for example Xperia V and Xperia J which are new models.

  • Is it necessary to use a flip cover for your Xperia phone?

I was not using any cover but i use a screen guard/protector for my Xperia E1 phone but now i have found out that the screen has got two tiny lines but I don't know whether those marks are on the screen guard or on the screen itself. Has anyone noticed such thing on their phone.
I don't understand what is the exact use of a flip cover. Is it really necessary? Plz comment.
    Thanks in advance.

A flip cover is kind of an extra protection for both the front and the back of the device. On my Z1,I only have a screen protector right now,but I do have a flip case just in case. Those scratches might be only on the screen protector, but to be sure, you can take it off and place another.

  • Which Xperia phone models have pressure sensor?

I've downloaded many specs (e.g. Z, Z1 compact, ...) but haven't found information about whether one of the newer phones have a pressure sensor (barometer, typically used to calculate altitude).
Is there a feature matrix showing devices and features like "pressure sensor"?

Thanks. If Xperia active is the only phone with pressure sensor (barometer), then this is really sad, because Sony doesn't sell it any more.
Calculating altitude based on GPS is a desaster, especially if you want to know current and total incline when doing outdoor activities. In the following graph you can see the altitude (GPS-based) of a Xperia active resting on the same location for about 3 hours. Height varies by almost 100 meters and it's steadily going up and down:
I'm afraid I have to change to Samsung Galaxy S4. This makes me sick - Sony has about 26 models (A..Z), they already had a compact outdoor phone (active: waterproof, ANT+, barometer, compact) and now they produce indistiguishable, longish phones which lack important features for outdoor freaks.
@Sony: Is it true that you haven't spent a barometer for Z1 Compact? Are there any plans for Z2 compact to have barometer (pressure sensor)? I have some time left, Xperia neo and active are still working...

  • Smartband / Lifelog features for non-Xperia phones?

    Dear Sony support, dear community,
I am really enjoying my new smartband. Setting it up, and having it track my day to day activities works like a charm. Only one important question remains: When are you going to open the bike / car / train recognition feature for other (non-Xperia) Android 4.4 phones? I know you want ppl to buy both, but honestly in this hen or egg scenario the phone came before the smartband, and I'm afraid my next phone upgrade is still some time away :-(
The ability of tracking my bike rides and especially my daily commutes would certainly complete the excellent experience the smartband and lifelog app already provide now, and I hope that you will make these features available asap.
Thanks a lot and best wishes,
    Philipp

  • Xperia Z Phone Continuous Vibration Problem - A Pain in the Neck

I just wanna know something.. I bought the Xperia Z in March'2013 and I just love, love, love it. However, it started to act weird, maybe two weeks back, when all of a sudden it started to vibrate, (maybe for 3 or 4 hours non stop) and factory settings reset did not help at all. So, had to update the phone software AGAIN using Sony Companion which was pretty frustrating. After losing all my data (since I had forgotten to keep a back up), I was finally able to fix it (which now seems was temporary). The phone has started acting all weird again, it has started vibrating again and I tell you its very annoying after having burned a hole in my pocket just to buy it. So, how many times, just how many times will this be a pain in all the wrong places possible?
Another thing is that, the battery literally gets heated up, if I have the internet (2G/3G) on or even the Wi-Fi or if I'm listening to music and it becomes really hot. The battery really drains out super fast and I have to charge it yet again. So, now I want to know what would be the best possible solution because I need one, and I need it fast. The phone is still under the warranty period so I am thinking of having it replaced 'cause I can't (Read: Simply CANNOT) afford to have this phone giving me problems over and over again.
So help! I want this FIXED and want it FIXED Asap!

  • How to ensure album art data does not downsample in WALKMAN on Xperia ZR phone?

I'm using Xperia ZR (model C5503) with android 4.2.2 and WALKMAN v7.9.A.0.1
All my music have an album art image of around 600x600 to 640x640 resolution.
When I play a song, WALKMAN shows the original albumart very clearly as normal, but when I go back to this played song later or any other song that shares the same album art, the album art is clearly downsampled, is blurry and filled with compression artifacts.
The WALKMAN lock screen app in its small size and full size as well as the home screen widget doesn't have this problem.
How do I stop this from happening?

If you backup with iTunes and you restored from the backup and the data are gone, then there is no where to retrieve them from unless you have another backup that contains those data.
Launch iTunes on the computer and go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices. You will see a window with all of your backups listed in it.
If you see a recent backup that you are certain contains the data that you need, recover deleted data from iPhone backup.
If your note is gone from iCloud.com there is only a few ways to possibly recover it.
The first things I would check is a iCloud Backup, a iTunes Backup, or a 3rd party email that may have contained the note. To restore from a iCloud or iTunes backup follow this link. This article explains how to restore a device from either back up.
Note if you have backed up since the note went missing, you will not have the note on the backup. Make sure you do not back up if trying to restore from a back up as this will back up the content without the note.
To get to the "Set up assistant" on an iOS device, you must go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings. Once the phone restarts, you will be at the "Set up Assistant"

  • Xperia Tablet and Phone on Windows

I would love to see an Xperia phone especially, but also a tablet running Windows OS. The new Z3 line looks beautiful, and I would love to purchase a new phone from you, but I want a phone running the Windows Phone OS.
All the laptops in my house are Sony brand, and I love them- great quality. I want more Sony in my life
Are there any plans for such a device? Should I hold out, or should I take my business elsewhere?

    Aish,
So I backed up and connected the tablet and phone layouts to my desktop one. I had to repopulate all the pages, but it at least it copied the page attribute data. Though now, when I create new pages in the desktop layout, I still have to manually create the identical pages in tab and phone layout modes. I thought it would at least create a new page in the other layouts and copy the page attribute data, but it doesn't. Am I doing this right?
I though that was the whole point of connecting the layouts at the very beginning. So that one could create a new page and have, at the very least, the metadata and page name copy to the other layouts. But that's now how it works, huh?

  • Update to 4.3 or higer and issue with phone turning off?

Hi, I have a couple of questions regarding my Xperia C which none of your Support team were able to answer after several emails sent through your "Contact Us" page:
    1. Will Xperia C be upgraded to 4. 3 or higher? If yes, then when? If not, then why?
    2. My phone most of the times shuts down and is unable to turn it on without having to do a hard reset of the unit while I play songs using the Walkman app through the speakers of the phone. The back panel heats up as well whenever this happens.
    3. Some of the files stored in my SD card went missing and would only reappear if and when I restart my phone. Then after a couple of hours (8-9 the most or earlier than that if I use some of the device' apps and internet) some of the files (recently downloaded pics/songs and recently made playlists in the Walkman, Albums and Movies apps) would disappear again. Already did a phone repair via PC Companion, erased SD Card files via phone and transferred them all back in after the phone repair but it stiĺ replicates the issue. Thought it was my SD card who is at fault here but when I used the same SD card on my brother's Xperia Z, the issue did not manifest after 2 days of monitoring.
Already went to the Xperia Shop to have it che ked but they only resorted to doing the same system upgrade/repair that I did. They also suggested to have my phone checked at the main tech hub but it would take 2-3 weeks to diagnose and there is no assurance that they can ißue a service unit while my Xperia C Dual is being repaired. I can't afford to lose a phone even for a day as both numbers that I am using on my Xperia phones are being used for my 2 businesses that transacts 18 hours a day.
Hope any of you moderators could answer the above queries without having to just redirect said concerns to your Contact Us page.
Please do answer the above queries, even for just points 1 and 2 if you really have no idea how to solve point 3.
Your prompt response regarding the said concerns will be highly appreciated.

Thank you so much for the quick response regarding Xperia C updates, Thommo and Rickard.
However, is there a way that you guys can send a screenshot of the said site in this thread when you access the link? Reason being whenever I access the said link, whether it be thru my Xperia phone or my laptop and PC, the page/site only gives out info on how to update the Xperia C phoneand info about the latest Android Version, Build Number and RRelease Date of the said version. No info whatsoever that it is the last or final update that Xperia C will be receiving. Not sure though if it is because of the clause in the said page that "updates depends on the country to where you purchased/use your unit" that the info differ as well. I am currently located in Manila Philippines though when accessing the link.
Rickard, to answer your question: yes, I already tried using the same SD card on another Xperia device and it didn't replicate the issues I am having with my Xperia C. And just about a few hours ago, I used a different SD card for my Xperia C phone and the same issue happens. Whether I set the default storage to PHONE, SD CARD, or LET THE SYSTEM DECIDE, the same issue of recent files being erased happens.
One more thing though which I think is worth noting, per my observation, this issue happens whenever the CACHED DATA of the DEVICE MEMORY reaches 65-70 MB something which is hard to monitor especially if you are using your phone for video calls/VOIP and net related activities especially on my part who is very busy having to work 18 hours a day to keep up with the demands of handling my two businesses of different nature.
Further inputs will be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks in advance.
