Xperia Z won't start unless plugged in!

Xperia Z does not start unless plugged. After plugging it, it does switch on, and once I unplug it, it shuts down and will not restart. Tried force restart and force shut down. When unplugged, Sony logo shows up n then nothing.

Hi @RDr You can try to connect your device to a wall charger and then press and hold power & volume up for more than 10 seconds. Let it charge for 2 to 3 hours. Also you can try by plugging the usb cable as you hold volume down. My Samsung Fascinate won't start unless plugged in. Even with a full battery. It shows a dead battery and won't start.

How old is the phone/battery? I would order a new, OEM battery from an online retailer (usually inexpensive, fast delivery) like cellularaccessories.com or batteries4less.com and see if that fixes the issue. Batteries do wear out....

Phone won't start unless plugged in. No phone or internet service

On my 4S the phone won't start unless plugged in. Once plugged in it shows 100% charged. If I unplug it it will go dark and no button works.
Once plugged in and the phone is on it keeps searching. I receive no phone or internet service. After awhile it will dim and then go dark. Have to reset to get it back on. Each time, it goes to 4PM and 12/31. Can go through apps, but no sound (music for example).
Anyone have these types of problems before.

A similar problem to the other posters, my Sony Xperia Z won't start after a failed update attempt. Following the support suggestions on the Sony website (http://www.sonymobile.com/sg/support/faq/w8-walkman-phone/update-software/software-update-failed-ps101/) failed. Solutions posted on this forum thread (http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z-ZL-ZR/My-Sony-Xperia-Z-won-t-start-turn-on-after-failed-update-attempt/m-p/401787#M20133) have also failed. When I plug the phone into the wall charger, the LED comes on red, the SONY logo appears on my screen, followed by a message indicating that "The Software update failed. Make sure that your phone is connected to the computer and try again.", and then the phone turns itself off. The cycle repeats itself with no indication that my phone's actually being charged. Since it is unable to charge, plugging the phone into my computer does not trigger the update process to start, so I can't "try again", as the message so helpfully suggests. The computer also does not recognise my phone as being connected despite following the PC Companion's instructions to 1) unplug the device, 2) remove and replace the battery (which I can't do, because the battery is built in), and 3) turn it back on (which, again, I can't do, because the phone won't charge in the first place), before 4) plugging it back into the computer. Aperture won't start unless connected to my Vault USB Drive

I have a 17" MBP runing aperture. My Aperture won't start unless the USB drive containig the vault is connected. Anyone having the same issue? Any remedy to this?

Try holding the option key down whilst clicking on the Aperture icon in the dock and choosing your library this way.

G4 won't start unless from a restart or pmu reset

my G4 won't start unless from a restart or, if the computer has been shut down, I have to reset the pmu - with inside button or by removing battery.
Can anyone think of why this happens? What goes on with a shut down that doesn't with a restart? With the problem, nothing happens after the chime and I must hard shut-down, unplug and reset pmu, then it's fine.

Imac won't start unless unplugged for hours

OK, a little history (I'm not sure if it's related, but here it is):
About 2 months ago, I started having trouble getting the computer to wake from sleep. Then, it started having kernel panics. Then, it wouldn't consistently start, and finally would give me the 3 beeps on start up, indicating the RAM was bad. So now, with the offending RAM removed, here are the symptoms:
The iMac (24", late 2007) will sometimes spontaneously shut down after a couple of hours. It cant' be restarted unless I leave it unplugged for several hours. I thought it might be a heat issue, so I downloaded smc fan control, ran them up around 2000-2500, and put iStat Pro on. The temps all stayed below 55C. When I go to turn it on, if shorter than the several hours, I can hear the optical drive make a little sound (I think that's what it is) and then absolutely nothing else happens. Also, once it shuts down, if I leave it plugged in for those several hours, it still won't start. Also of note is that I am not doing anything intense - just some email and Word writing. Anyone else experience this and have any solutions? Or other questions to help me diagnose it?

Try running the Apple Hardware Test to see what it throws up, you might also boot from your install disc and use Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
However, it does sound like a power supply problem, look in User>Applications>Utilities>Console and check the system log for any notations about temperatures.

Won't work unless plugged in

My 5th gen. iPod is about a year and a half old and has hardly been used because it WON'T WORK UNLESS IT'S PLUGGED IN! Whenever I plug it into my MacBook, it turns on, restores, syncs, etc. But whenever it is unplugged, it immediately shuts off and won't work. Help?!

Take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you. More than likely you need a new battery.

Itunes won't start unless a cd is in the cd tray.

I have moved last week from WinXP to Windows 7 and since then iTunes (the last version, 9.0.1) refuses to start, unless I have a cd (data or music doesn't matter) in the cd tray. The error that I get says:
"Quick Time not found. Quick time is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes , then install iTunes again"
Of course Quick Time is installed (combo package with iTunes).
Anybody has an idea about what's happening??

G4 won't start unless I unplug and replug power cable

I recently picked up an old G4 MDD (dual 1.25). I am having a great time running old software, etc, save for one issue. Whenever I shut it down through the OS (Apple menu > shut down) it will not power back up unless I unplug the power cord from the back of the computer and then plug it back in. Once I do this it starts up fine. However, if I power it down by holding down the power button on the tower, then I can usually start it back up again without unplugging/replugging the power source. Any ideas?
Also, when I first got it home it did power down at random a few times. Just died on me mid-task. But it has not done this in a few weeks now, so I considered it an anomaly, but perhaps it is related?

Stay tuned. I have some free time coming up in three weeks and am planning to devote as much as an entire day to this. I've had the same problem in one of my MDD's and a very nagging curiosity about it. It's definitely a puzzle that needs to be solved.
I believe that BDAqua is correct that the problem is with a faulty capacitor somewhere. I have several MDD's, so it will be easy for me to swap out some parts to narrow in on the problem. Then I'll start checking capacitors.
If successful, I'll post specific details.
Is that easily fixable? Does not sound like it for a newb.
If you've never soldered any components on a board, it might be a good time to call in a favor from a friend who is comfortable with such things.
If the problem is in the PSU, there could also be safety issues. Some capacitors in the PSU can hold enough juice to stop a human heart. When discharged correctly, they are perfectly safe to work with. When not discharged correctly, they can hurt you.

I have a MacBook Pro 13-inch (mid-2010):
Processor: 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 4GB 1067 Mhz DDR3
Running Mac OS X 10.7.2
Yesterday I opened my computer (was sleeping as usual) and the screen just flasehed white and the computer powered off. The magnetic electricity thingy was connected and was green, so it was fully charged, and connected to the electricity.
Since it powered off, I tried turning it on again, and again, one second after starting to boot up, screen flashed white and the computer powered off.
I read somewhere I should hold down the power button longer, so I did, and it booted up. That's why I am able to write this. But every time I turn it off or put it to sleep, it does the same thing when I boot up.
If I don't hold the power button for 10 seconds or so, the computer won't work.
Then today, I did a backup of my entie hard drive, just in case. Later, I started using Excel, and about 1 hour after I was on it, suddenly it got really slow. Like I would click on a program like Safari, and it would take over 30-45 secs to start and be ready. And my computer is usually really fast!
I went on the Internet again, started in safe mode, boot up with option+command+P+R to reset PRAM, and nothing worked. Then suddenly on one turn-off/turn-on (since I can't restart because the computer only starts if I hold the power button for 10 seconds), again it is working at normal speed.
What can this be? Any ideas?

Are you running the Apple-supplied RAM? Have you run Apple Hardware Test? I don't know what else you've tried, but this may be time to do a fresh install of Lion if you have not done so since installing Lion.

InDesign won't start (PC) Plug-in conflict error message

Hi, I'd really appreciate some help with this problem detailed below. Please note that i do not have the option to uninstall and reinstall the program. My disc is on a boat - I sent it snail mail back to Ireland from Australia. I am doing a graphic design course online so it's essential that I get this working again. PROBLEM: I cannot open Adobe InDesign. It displays one of two error messages
"The InDesign.exe plug-in conflicts with InDesign.exe. Try removing one of the two plug-ins from the Plug-Ins folder and restart InDesign"
OR now more often:
"This programme has stopped working and that Windows is checking for a solution... ... ... A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
There are a range of errors in the AMT launch log (see below) however I don't know what they mean or how to proceed. Tried to search on the forum but it's all a bit over my head at this stage.

MacBook Pro won't start unless I unplug and replug battery

I have a mid 2011 MacBook Pro 15" that has this odd issue. I don't normally shut down my Mac and can be left on for days with lid closed when not using it and always have power cord plugged in, battery usually at 96% or so.
Usually this is fine and don't have problems but occasionally I'll open the lid and it appears that the Mac has shut itself off. When I go to press the power button nothing happens. I have found that if I take off the bottom cover and unplug the battery connector the replug it in after a few seconds the Mac will start up. It will then be fine for days without any issues but it seems to come back inevitably.
So question is what is happening here? Why does unplugging and reinserting the battery cable seem to clear the issue? Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

I have the same issue with my 15 inch early 2011 MBP as soon as it updated to OS X 10.9.4. I have reset the smc, the nvram, checked and repaired any disk permissions, verified the drive which identified no problems, reinstalled the software, replaced the power cable, called applecare to no avail, and my computer will not let me run a hardware test. I know the computer reads the battery however, because when i turn it on while plugged in and unplug it, the system will start and run normal until it tries to load the UI.
