Xperia Z1 Chinese Keyboard - Phonepad with dictionary on problem

Hi all,
Need your help, i just change my very old Xperia S to the latest Z1, I noticed when I set the keyboard to Chinese Keyboard and for portrait I set to phonepad with dictionary on, when i want to key in for example "How" for old Xperia S, all HTC phone i just need to press key 4,6 and 9 then it should show How as first choice but Z1 show 469 as first choice, Z1 will always show number as first option instead of words!!! This will slow down the input really doesn't make sense. I tied to serach all the possible setting but I can't solve this problem. Pls. help.

I have also noticed this problem, it only started happening since I updated to the new Android. It Is very annoying!

Xperia Arc LT15i portrait keyboard 'phonepad' setting problem

Have the very latest software update on the phone - 2.3.4 - which seems to have created a bug (software error) in the portrait keyboard 'phonepad' option. Driving me crazy. Fingers too big to be using the Full keyboard option so have happily been using the phonepad option for a couple of months. Now all of a sudden it stays as full keyboard no matter what I do. i.e. I change the setting to 'Phonepad' in the Settings / Language & keyboard / International keyboard / Portrait keyboard area and now nothing happens. As in it's Full keyboard in the texting area regardless. Can I get around this? Is the bug being fixed?

Can you please try the following for me:
Menu > Messaging > New Message > Load up the Keyboard > Select the Spanner icon (Bottom Right) > Portrait keyboard >Phonepad.

Switching to japanese or chinese keyboard quickly

Hi, I updated my Xperia Z3 to Android 5.0 and I wonder if there is a way to quickly switch from the italian keyboard to the chinese or japanese keyboard. With the previous version of Android I could pull down the notification bar and change input method, but with the latest update there's no more this possibility. I have to go to settings>language&input>current keyboard and change the keyboard here. So annoying and time consuming!
Is there an easy way of doing it? If not I suggest to solve this problem in the next update because this way is very very uncofortable for people who have to write in different languages in the same text. Tanks!

It's also possible in Android 5.0. If you go to a new text message > Tap once on the text field "Write message" so your keyboard appear > In the bottom right corner at the navigation bar (back, home and recent app button) you should see a keyboard, if you tap this keyboard you can change to Chinese/Japanese.
If you cannot see the keyboard I'm referring to, go to Settings > Language & input > Current Keyboard > Choose keyboards > Enable Chinese/Japanese.

In contacts, duplicate nos. when input by Chinese keyboard

When create or edit contacts, you will see a duplicate nos when you input nos. by chinese keyboard.

if you are referring to the symptom that, when entering phone numbers under 'contacts' while the input method is set to Chinese, each letter you input will automatically duplicate itself and add to the end of the entry. backspace wouldn't work. and the little 'x' button simply worsens the case by duplicating the ENTIRE entry with each press. one workaround is to switch to English input method. the other is to accept the duplicated entry by pressing 'done' top right then 'edit' to remove the duplication. if this is what you are referring to, or what anyone else reading this right now is experiencing, then yes I have the same problem. my device is iPhone 5s on the latest iOS 7.0.4. issue unresolved as of today.

How to use the phone's Mini-Keyboard Input with the 'Textbox'(MIDP2.0)?

Hi. I'm trying to create a textbox(in my own little application) that is compatible with the mini-keyboard input feature.
This problem involved any device that have a built-in "mini-keyboard".
Problem:
I tried the 'Textbox' class from MIDP2.0 but the result, as expected, is like using the phones with no built-in keyboard.
(Forexample if I want to input the character 'C' inthe text box, I need to press number '2' button three times to let it circle through 'A' -> 'B' then 'C'. )
Then I tried entering URLs in the phone's built-in web browser, the result is I can use the mini keyboard to type like a PC keyboard.
Question: How do I implement such textbox that is fully compatible with the built-in mini Keyboard?
I tried browsing through the MIDP2.0 API but it seems the 'Textbox' class there couldn't do it.

The textbox should have input just as any other normal phone input. If not, something strange is going on.
Anyway , there is no use to make your own input method, since every phone has another implementation of this anyway. It would only confuse users.

I would like to print chinese web page within netscape browser in Solaris 9 Traditional Chinese OS, the print out result is garbage code on the paper not correctly chinese fonts.
I can print out correctly the chinese document create by StarSuite 7.0 on Solaris 9 OS environment and also the chinese web page is correctly display within Netscape browser but for printing is abnomal result.
Can someone point me to how to do print chinese web page with browser in Solaris 9 environment ?

Insert Textpool with dictionary reference

Hi!
I want to translate a textpool per down and upload in excel. I translate the downloaded textpool in excel and upload it for the new language.
The problem is: if the parameters are with dictionary reference, it doesn´t work - after INSERT TEXTPOOL it shows the parameter-text instead of the Dictionary-text.

Unfortunately, the checkbox (Dictionary Ref.) is not part of the TEXTPOOL structure. So when you read the text pool and update it using INSERT TEXTPOOL, it will overwrite all your existing settings including this checkbox. You will have manually go into the selection texts and check this box again.

The ZAGG keys Universal Keyboard is a Bluetooth keyboard that the manufacturer states is "compatible with most IOS devices" but does not list Apple TV specifically, though the the different IPADS that are compatible are listed.
I did contact the manufacturer through an online Sales Associate Chat on their website and ironically they could not answer me. They did take my email and stated they will research and get back to me. That was only yesterday, 10/7/13 so I will give it a few days.
I know there are other keyboards available, so maybe I will just research a little more.

Chinese language issue with I18N

We are implementing i18n in our project. And for that, we have a resource bundle with a chinese properties file with all chinese characters.
And i have saved that file with UTF-8 encoding. Then, when i run my application, iam getting someother special characters instead of chinese. When i hardcoded the chinese text in my flex mxml files, then im able to see chinese. But when it is coming from a properties file, im getting special characters.I have tried a full day to resolve this, but failed. Can somebody please help me to get through?

Use getCharCode() to pick apart the characters in the string to make sure they are the ones you expect. Then maybe try different fonts to make sure they have the correct mapping.

Keyboard shipped with Pavilion non-standard number keypad

Hello, I advised a friend to buy an HP Pavilion 550 desktop for use at her office. She is a bookkeeper and relies heavily on the number pad on the right side of the keyboard. The keyboard that shipped has a non-standard numeric keypad where the "0" key has a right facing arrow instead of the "0" key. Financial people cannot function with this type of keyboard. I had never seen a keyboard like this before and cannot imaging why HP shipped something that is not standard. I asked her to contact HP support, since there must have been a mistake. HP support offered to SELL her a new keyboard, but would not replace the keyboard shipped with the PC. The PC is brand new and just came out of the box! This is an embarrassing display of our support for our products. Please help.

i suppose you could do that - but that seems like a royal pain, and certainly not the graceful experience that apple is known for.
Alternatively - i have found you can just type CHA CHA in text with the keyboard and it translates it into numbers accordingly.
Still - a jarring experience, i prefer the other way. Oh well.

You changed the proper preference, but you don't need to relaunch iTunes. You do, however, need to click the blue OK button at the bottom right of the preferences window. The change will happen then.
