I believe your only option will be to get Apple to replace the screen for you, which won't be cheap. If the machine is still covered under warranty, you could try to push the case that the screen must be defective for a bug to get in there. Apple has been known to do free out-of-warranty service in some pretty unbelievable circumstances, that that is at their discretion, so be very pleasant and polite so they'll like you and want to help you out. But be prepared to have to pay for the repair.

Here's a novel thought. Take it back to the vendor. Should have done that one week ago.

There's a soft white dot on the screen of my new MacBook Pro Retnia That is visible especially when the background is light. It isn't a sharp dot but rather a soft blurred looking dot. Does anybody else have something like this or does anyone know what it is? I'm thinking its s dead pixel but it doesn't look like one that i've seen on other lcd displays.
I set my desktop background to a 50% grey and that's how I found it. Now that I did, i can't stop looking at it. I tried to take a pic of it its in the center of the photo. Its not easy to see on the photo but, its very easy to see on the display. Oh and its not dirt or something on the surface. Not sure if i should go to the genius bar on it. I am worried that it may get worse. Any input is appreciated.

I also had this problem, same make and model and specifications as you have. Brought it into Apple and also called them about. They stated they have not heard of this yet although I find that hard to believe with the # of cases on this being reported. Must have been a bad lot or batch of Retina MBP's that were made and this got by quality control. But they were okay with giving me a new one on the spot.
As you said, doesn't show on darks but on whites; oh boy it sure does and it is annoying on photo editing and documents where white is all you see; about 1.5mm x 1mm big and bright like a little star. Very hard to detect at first unless you have the white background up as wallpaper.
I sent my MBP back for a replacement and told them I did not want a repair on a computer that was less than 3 weeks old. Stuff happens and no one is perfect so long as Apple and their resellers stand by and make amends by issuing new MBP's. I did not buy mine via Apple direct this time, but rather used a authorized Apple reseller and fortunately they agreed to issue a new one. Keeping fingers crossed.

my total library is 680 mb, nowhere close to the 2.08 in the pictures folder. I am obviously messing up.
Actually you’re not.
The iPhoto Window reports the size of the library that would result if you exported all the current versions +and nothing else+ to a folder on the desktop.
The iPhoto Library Folder contains the Original, Modified and thumbnail versions of your pics. It also contains various cache and database files +all of which are necessary+ for the working of the Library.
Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
You can run a Library on an external disk:
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

Bright dot on the screen

Got a brand new iPhone 4S. There was a bright dot on the screen that could be noticed from the moment I turned it on. The third day, however, the dot disapperared.
Is that normal for new phones, or should I exchange it??

If the problem is resolved, there is no problem. Do not worry about anymore. If the problem returns then you can take care of it then.

Satellite L - Small green dot on the screen

I have just started up my new computer and on the start up loading screen (the black screen) there appears to be a small dot (possibly green) that is in the upper part of my screen and only noticable when the screen is black.
Will this become more serious and is there anything that i can do to change it or is it something that i need not worry about? I would like to know as soon as possible as if i need to send my computer back i will prefer not to do anything further on it.

I think you mean a defective pixel. Is this right?
Such defective pixels are pixels on a LCD not performing as expected. This can happen on all LCDs and there are different pixel fault classes.
LCD display has millions of pixels and if you have only one defective pixel everything is ok. On my Satellite L300 I have also one defective pixel but I see it only if the display is black. You cant return or exchange the notebook with one defective pixel only.

I purchased the Xperia Z2 tablet in April 2014 with the 2 year Accidental Coverage from Handling. I dropped the tablet and the screen shattered. I attempted to call Sony to setup a repair, and the customer service rep. insists on insulting me and tells me that I don't have the coverage for which I have receipts. I contacted the Sony Store for a solution, but they are giving me the run around.
I would like to speak to a person whose first language is English.
I didn't spend $650.00 for and a tablet and coverage that I cannot use.

If you have AppleCare+ it will cost $79. If not, Replacement iPhone 5S is $269. If your Apple Store replaces iPhone 5S front screens (not sure any Apple Store is doing this yet) it would cost $149, call them and see if they are replacing iPhone 5S screens.

So, I got an iPod from a friend because the screen was broken, he tried to fix it and he bent one of the prongs on where the LCD for the screen goes on the front of the mother board. I can still click it in, will it still work if I buy a new screen?

Well, my friend gave me his iPod 4G Because the screens LCD was broken and there was a black dot in the screen and it didn't work, he didn't want it anymore because he thinks he broke it because where the LCD connects to the front of the motherboard one of the prongs is bent but I can still click the LCD in if I get a new screen will it still work?

Well, on my ipod i only notice it sometimes so i guess its there only sometimes but its( i will give an example) the apple logo is on and you will see this white little dot in the screen, its not on it cause i wipped it off.Its part of the video screen.Plus mine froze twice, with the new softwwear

Hello, I have an iPhone 4 that I got on the 29th of May, anyway I discovered this yesterday that when i enter the camera app or watch a youtube video when theres a black screen, or the iPhone is booting i see about 3 white dots on the screen, however my wallpaper is mostly black but I can't manage to find them so this problem only accours when I use the camera app or watch a youtube video and boot up the phone.. It's pretty annoying because I treat this phone like a newborn baby and this is what I get...

Stuck white dot on corner screen when playing videos

So when i watch a video on youtube there is a stuck white dot on the screen. It only happens when i play videos though what is this its very annoying
