Xperia Z1 suddenly dead. Nothing works

Hello, I had my Xperia Z1 charging all night. This morning, I noticed that it was suddenly off. And can't turn it on.  Nothing seems to work. Not the charging light even. The phone is totally dead. The computer doesn't recognize it.  What can I do? I'm desesperate because I need to back up the photos and videos of the birth of my first child (I've just arrived home from the hospital yesterday). All of them are inside the Xperia.  Thanks

Hi, I hope you can help me as I have a problem with my Z1 since Christmas day. My phone suddenly died when I put it into sleep or locked it. Before it happens, I was charging using the charging dock. I pulled it out of the charging dock and the battery was around 40%. I used the camera, turned off the WiFi. Everything is normal. Then I locked it and laid it on my bed. After a couple of minutes when I was about to use it, it's no longer turning on. I tried charging it again but to no avail, no notification light indicating that it's charging (both USB cable and charging dock), tried the power button + volume up still the same. Hard reset via the red button beside the SIM tray but still the same. Tried connecting it to the PC to see if the PCC or SUS will recognize it but to no avail. I bought the unit from a grey market (OL shop) so there is no official Sony warranty. They only offer 3-day replacement for manufacturer defect and 1-year service warranty. I bought it last Oct. 31. The seller doesn't agree with the replacement for the unit since way beyond the 3-day replacement period. At the same time he said that the service warranty is voided as I updated my OS to 4.3 (as per their receipt, any OS modification will void the service warranty). So I went to the referred service shop to have my phone check but to no avail, they cannot check it as they still experience the same problem. I went to an Xperia store and the lady I talked to advised me to go to the main Sony service centre in which she provided me the map. So I went there and my phone stayed overnight on the said service centre for checking. The next day as per the diagnosis of the technician it's is beyond repairbale via software or something like that. Their laptops or PCs can't still detect my phone. They said it might need a replacement of the motherboard. So a couple of days later, yesterday, we went back to the OL store to try to demand for a replacement again but they just advised us to seek again for a second opinion on the same technician he referred the first time. So we went there and stated the problem. He said that the battery might be super drained that's why even if I charge overnight it won't turn on or get charged. He also mentioned that I might have experienced a dead or death booth as something might have happened with the system or software of the phone. By the way, few hours after the phone suddenly died on the 25th the phone became warm or hot. He mentioned that it might be because there were apps were running that time when it still has battery. Do you have any idea if this is a case of a dead or death booth? I serioulsy hope it has nothing to do with the motherboard.

My Xperia Z1 has been turned off by its self and it dosent turn on . I tried everything to on it but it didnt. I have tried to plug it with computer but it still not working. All i can see is some time when i plug in the usb into the computer then suddenly some red light comes out from the top of the phone and disappeares.... What should i do? I just bought the phone 2 days ago ....

Does it vibrate 3 times if you press and hold Power & volume up for more than 10 seconds?
if it does then do so and let it charge for many hours; if it doesn't then you will have to take it to a Sony repair center

  • My display suddenly turns off (goes black), nothing works, have to restart using power the button.

    Hi all
In both Snow Leopard and Lion, it sometimes (rather rarely) happens. Specially when the system tries to use a litle bit more of the graphics performance - such as using Mission Control, opening Adobe Photoshop, using Quick Preview (pressing the space key) - the display very suddenly goes black, or turns off. In this phase, absolutely nothing works ! No sound, no response to pressing any of the keys on the keyboard, NOTHING! Not even the keyboard backlit adjustment keys (F5 & F6) do any good.
And what I do is to press and hold the power button to turn the dead device, off and start it up again.
What I did to solve this problem which didn't work at all:
1- Since the problem occurs when using more graphics performance, I reckon this might have something to do with the graphic switching... . so I unchecked the "Automatic Graphic Switching" in both Snow Leopard & Lion, but still the same thing happened a few times.
2- I did reset the P-RAM and SMC (whatever they are) in Snow Leopard. No difference !
3- I changed from Snow Leopard to Lion, which is currently installed on the device.
None of the above could solve this annoying and devastating problem.
I'm too afraid that this is a hardware related issue. If so, then any of the two graphic chipsets, or even the mainboard might be damaged I guess ?
Does anyone have seen such thing and happened to solve it somehow? I would REALLY appreciate if you could share the solution. Any kinda guidance, helping to find out the reason of this, would be such a relief !
    So thank you, in advanced

Oh ! One thing I forgot to mention...
And that is, I tested the hardware twice, using Apple Hardware Test, in both quick and extended modes.
    p.s.:
The "problem" happened three times in the last 30 minutes. I've been using Photoshop. Thank god everything got recovered....
I desprately need help here guys !!

  • Question mark in folder flashing. Nothing works, can I conclude my HD is dead?

My computer screen froze the other day and the only thing I could do was to restart it.
However, when I did, all I got was a grey screen and a question mark flashing in a folder.
I have since then tried everything suggested in these cases. Nothing works, no matter how I reboot, I never get anything else than the flashing question mark on a grey screen.
I have 3 old installation discs (Panther!) - should I try these?
Or can I conclude that my hard disc is dead?
My Imac is from 2008 (or 2009…) and was running on Mavericks.

If you have the original disk that shipped with the iMac, you can try booting from it.
Put the disk in and restart the computer while holding the C key down. If the computer boots you can start the installation process. (You are not reinstalling.) After the screen where you select the language you will see a menu bar. Click Utilities and run Disk Utility. In DU, select the hard drive on the left, First aid, and click Repair disk. When that is done, quit DU and restart the computer in the usual way.
If DU tells you the disk cannot be repaired, you will have to replace it.

  • Hi I have an iPhone 4 and suddenly it stopped working. Could here notifications and nothing on the diisplay. Wake up  button on top is not working. so unable to restart the phone. Wanted to try restore from iTunes but Find my iPhone (iCloud) is on.

Hi I have an iPhone 4 and suddenly it stopped working. Could here notifications and nothing on the diisplay. Wake up  button on top is not working. so unable to restart the phone. Wanted to try restore from iTunes but Find my iPhone (iCloud) is on. How to recover or restart my Phone

Follow these steps to log into your iCloud account on your computer and deactivate "Find my iPhone" on your device:
Remove an iOS device or Mac on which you can’t turn off Find My iPhone
If you can’t turn off Find My iPhone on the device, turn off the device so it goes offline, then remove it from Find My iPhone on iCloud.com.
Note:    You can also remove your iOS device by first erasing it—just follow the instructions below for removing an iOS device you don’t have. You can later restore the device from an iCloud or iTunes backup.
Turn off the device you want to remove.
Sign in to icloud.com/#find on another computer with your Apple ID (the one you use with iCloud). If you’re using another iCloud app, click the app’s name at the top of the iCloud.com window, then click Find My iPhone.
Click All Devices, select the offline device, then click Remove from Account. If you don’t see Remove from Account, click All Devices again, then click the Delete button next to the device. If the device comes online again, it will reappear in Find My iPhone. If your device reappears, turn off Find My iPhone on the device (follow the instructions above for removing a device by turning off Find My iPhone), or if it’s an iOS device and you no longer have it, follow the instructions below for removing an iOS device you no longer have.
Remove an iOS device you no longer have
If you no longer have the iOS device because you gave it away or sold it, you need to remotely erase it before you can remove it.
Sign in to icloud.com/#find with your Apple ID (the one you use with iCloud). If you’re using another iCloud app, click the app’s name at the top of the iCloud.com window, then click Find My iPhone.
Click All Devices, then select the device.
Click Erase [device], then enter your Apple ID password. Because the device isn’t lost, don’t enter a phone number or message.
Note:    If you’re trying to erase a family member’s device, that person will need to enter his or her Apple ID password on this device. If the device is offline, the remote erase begins the next time it’s online. You’ll receive an email when the device is erased.
When the device is erased, click Remove from Account. All your content is erased, and someone else can now activate the device.

  • My ipod5 turned off all of a sudden and then won't turn on and off anymore, nothing works. what can I do?

I just got my Ipod5 a month ago and everthing was going well, until yesterday when all I did was lock my ipod and then all of a sudden it turned off and now nothing works. It won't turn on or off, it won't charge, and it won't connect to the PC. What happened? help.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Black screen, dead. Nothing works.

My iPod is dead, and when I say dead I really mean dead. I've tried everything, reseting it by *pressing center and menu button* countless times it just *wont work*. Also while charging it, it just wont work.
*When I plug in the iPod with an USB cable, iTunes says it cant recognize it...* If I press the center and menu button while the iPod is connected to the PC, a box pops up in iTunes saying it can't recognize the iPod that is connected.
So to the question, what to do when the reset technique doesn't work, or nothing works?
For me the screen is all black whatever I do. However, my PC makes this little sound when I plug it in. (The sound that you hear if you plug in a mouse or a USB-memory or something.)
What should I do to resurrect my iPod?

  • My MBA suddenly shut off and after charging, nothing works except the keyboard lights

My MBA suddenly shut off and after charging, nothing works except the keyboard lights.   I charged it and it's been hours and no sound, fan, or power chime happens.  It also says it's fully charged.

same or similar have to keep trying to reboot- only happens after charging overnight.

  • Display suddenly changed I have tried changing in utilities but nothing works.  The print is enormous and out of focus the screen has shrunk in width but programs open too stretched in length? What can I do?

The display suddently changed two days ago.  Everthing exploded in size.  I have tried changing the contrast but nothing works.  The display screen becomes either too wide, too long, or too narrow and in all cases the font is extra large and out of focus.  What can I do please   I am really disappointed since my iMac is only 2.5 months old.

Don't think so.  But tried it anyway.  I have been into utilities and tried different contrast settings now I don't know what is the right one.  But no matter which one I tried I have either about a third of the screen black, with display centered as though hidden behind the black.  What is going on?
Also, I have to say that I can't understand why there is no information anywhere on what the correct settings should be.
    Any ideas Capt?

  • W500 9cells battery suddenly dead. No previous warning.

I know batteries gets wear over time, and that once should be exchange, but I believe that a suddenly dead is not normal
Up to yesterday, batterie has been working good, and after aprox 400 charging cycles baterie was performing quite good (more than 1 hour of batterie). Mostly with charging cicles from 55% to 75%.
Today, suddenly, running on batterie on about 40% to 45% the computer got turnned off, plugen in, turning again, message was clear: your battery condition is poor and WILL NOT CHARGE AT ALL (not exact those words)
is that way definitelly a dead batery?
nothing to be done? even as a "SAI" batterie ?
    best regards!!
    and happy holidays

Sure it is the battery, a second battery works without issues in the same computer
About SAI, sorry, SAI is spanish, I meant UPS. And as a  most of the time, I have the laptop pluged in. So, a battery that would lask matter of minutes would be enough to avoid unexpected loss of power (and to avoid daily wear of the second battery)
I presume that if the cotrol circuit fail, there is nothing to do with that battery, even the cells have half life trough ...

  • My iPad volume is suddenly dead, I checked the settings everything is ok there, My iPad volume is suddenly dead, I checked the settings everything is ok there

My iPad volume is suddenly dead even though the settings show everything is ok and on full volume.
    Please help....

And you checked the music app to make sure that you have no sound in any app at all, including keyboard clicks, email and app notifications and everything that uses sound on the iPad - correct?
If you have nothing - not sound anywhere - reboot the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If you have sound in the music app, but nowhere else, system sounds are muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • ITunes RADIO is not working.  "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your internet connection is active and try again." Try as I may, as many as ten attempts, trying to connect after restart, after shutdown, nothing works. Just so -  iTu

    iTunes RADIO is not working.
“iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your internet connection is active and try again.” Try as I may, as many as ten attempts, trying to connect after restart, after shutdown, nothing works. Just so …
iTunes STORE not “connectable” with my otherwise perfectly-working internet connection, viable, up and running for all other uses.
Simply put, firstly, I can't connect to the internet when I click on Radio.  People are quite suspicious that this is Apple incompetence or your company's famous arrogance for this commonly-suffered problem that you won't or “can’t” fix.
Read the many web comments and you won’t be pleased with yourselves: the suspicion is that if you ruin internet radio on iTunes, Apple will somehow make more money on music downloads, etc. Bull.
Also, thirdly, my old playlist of 20 or so internet radio stations in the Ambient category STILL PLAYS !
Then fourth, I installed the latest available version of QuickTime Player 7.app Version 7.6.6 but it didn’t solve the problem either. I had QuickTime Player.app Version 10.2, but substituted what Apple website said was the latest, LOWER NUMBERED QuickTime Player version of 7.6.6
Fifth, I can't connect to iTunes store no matter what I do or what user group's advice I try. So I can’t buy or download anything from iTunes. Bad for business.
Sixth, I updated to the latest version of iTunes but this weird problem remains. All suggested Apple fixes or user group fixes are useless. Where is Apple’s famous technical competency, vaunted customer support?, and user-friendly product reputation? Get it back, please.
Solve this problem of yours ASAP for us, your numerous disgruntled, dissatisfied customers of iTunes. You can do better, should, and really –in all fairness- must.
    ===============================================================
NOTE:  no password for iTunes exists in my Keychain. Is this a problem?
Apple ACCOUNT ID, and iTunes ID password, works but not to access iTunes with my healthy internet connection.
Apple store id It works via direct internet connetion but not through iTunes.  Very strange.
