Xperia Z2 warranty

Hi I am new to the forum and I am residing in Dubai. Have had my Xperia Z2 for less than a year but the unit is now "dead" after testing it under water. Can someone please kindly help me on how to resolve the problem as the phone is still under warranty?  Thank you in advance!

Hi Dandy,
Many thanks for your response. I had taken the unit back to the store 'Carrefour' where I bought it and Carrefour had sent it to their service centre 'Technocare'. This was over two weeks ago and the service report from Technocare engineer had remarked that "Device fully liquid damage, water inserted inside of the device while side doors were open, it will not cover under warranty".
I am absolutely certain that all the flaps and doors were completely shut as no way I would put the unit (costing nearly GBP500) in the water if the flaps were opened. The person at Technocare said to escalate my claim to Sony Centre myself which I did immediately. However the woman at Sony Centre had refused at point blank (with no reports with her which she admitted she doesn't need to) and she simply said if the service report from Technocare stated water damage and so it will not be covered by the warranty, she will not do anything nor change anything. She has not only refused to listen to me but kept repeating the warranty terms and conditions.  She even said because I had to charge the battery so the flaps had become loose and so this is wear and tear.....
I am not a technical person and I wouldn't know to ask for a vaccum test but to rely on the experts at Technocare.  I have collected the unit from Carrefour yesterday and I showed the unit to the sales person at the Sony counter at Carrefour.  He examined the flaps and he stated that the service report from Technocare is wrong and that he said if the flap was opened, the red dot by the left side of the flap would have changed colour. Not sure if he is correct on this point?
I have been a great loyal fan with Sony products owning many generations of Sony TVs, Sony laptops, Sony Notebooks, Sony cameras, Sony Camcoders, .... Unfortunately this has left me with a very bad experience!  The woman at the Sony Centre was very obnoxious and plain rude to the extent that I was extremely shocked at the lack of customer service that Sony provides!
The Xperia Z2 is supposed to be waterproof, which I had thought it was but it is not.  It is now completely drown!  At Carrefour, I was told there are numerous complaints with this particular Sony Xperia Z2 and with exactly the same issues I had.
Could you please kindly advise how do I proceed from here?
Thank you so much for your time.
With kind regards,
Sally

  • US Xperia Support RMA Warranty Nightmare

I am planning to send this in letter form to Sony Mobile but want to share it with the readers on this forum:
Today marks 5 weeks since I opened an RMA with US Xperia support to facilitate the repair of my Xperia Z2. The device had a small crack on the back glass, despite being cared for quite well and kept in a hard case. It took over 3 days and multiple phone calls for Xperia support to send me a FedEx mailing label and the device was shipped out the next day.
It has been over a month that Sony has had the phone in their possession. My understanding is that the device was transferred from Xperia Support to the Protection Claims department when I elected not to pay for the repairs out of pocket. I had purchased a warranty with accidental damage protection and requested that the phone be replaced per the protection plan.  When I purchased the plan, I was promised if there was a situation like this, with physical damage, I would receive a replacement device in under a week.
For the past 4+ weeks, I have been calling Xperia Support and Warranty Exchange (protection claims) only to be told that neither department is in possession or is responsible for handling my device. I don’t have proof of it, but it appears the device got lost during transit between departments in the Texas facilities. Each of these departments has been telling me to call the other.  During these calls, I have been exposed to a tremendous amount of incompetence, laziness and generally poor attitude from almost all the agents I’ve talked to. Requests to speak with a supervisor have often been met with, A) None are available or B) you cannot speak to a supervisor here because you need to call department X or Y instead.
I have spent upwards of 15 hours on the phone trying to clear up this issue and have consistently been given a run around. Nobody at Sony Mobile is interested in taking care of my issue. This situation is outrageous. I paid $700 for this device and another $85 for a protection plan. How can it be acceptable for me to be without a phone for 5 weeks? What does a reasonable person do when they do not have a phone for this length of time? (I ended up borrowing a phone from a friend while I wait).
I am a very loyal customer to Sony and especially to Sony Mobile. I find this situation to be embarrassing. How can you treat customers like this? Isn’t this a market where you are trying to grow your mobile division?  I constantly have to answer questions about my Xperia devices at work. Colleagues are intrigued by the hardware and camera.  How should I now answer their questions about where my phone has been for the past month or so ?
At this point, I am at a loss as to what I should do here. How can I escalate this ? Do I need to send a letter to Japan ?  Sweden ? Do I fly to Texas where the facility is? Do I need to involve the Police ? The BBB ? Do I go on Social Media ?
I have even sought assistance from the Manager at the local Sony store. However, even his attempts at escalating this issue have been thwarted by a disorganized by an incompetent Xperia support.
I am going to go shopping for a new phone in the next few days.  I would like to wait for a reply to this message.  However, based on my recent experiences a reply may never come or it may take many weeks. Given the situations that I have dealt with here, I cannot see how I can be expect to purchase a device with the letters S, O, N, Y on it. This situation has left me bitterly disappointed and totally embarrassed.

Wow sorry to hear bud.. I went through a similar nightmare, I'm sure you can find it on these forums (thread title was something like "False Advertising by Sony Store").
I too spent God knows how many hours on the phone with various departments of Xperia Care, Sony head office, and local Sony stores. I finally reached a resolution of the Sony Store sending the defective device out for repairs and escalating the repair to urgent. They also shipped it first class to their repair centre (so they say).
They've had it for just over a week now, and I plan on calling to follow up with them either tomorrow or Monday. All I can say is good luck. I love Sony's phones, they make such a nice device, but their customer service is absolutely atrocious. So many conflicting answers, all Xperia Care does is transfer you to a different department, it's nothing but a complete run around.
I wish someone high up at Sony Canada would contact me and hire me as their "Common Sense Ambassador" as clearly common sense is all but gone within their mobile division. I would have a list of changes that need to take place within their mobile division before they can seriously compete for market share.

  • Sony Xperia Z1s Extended Warranty

Hi I just recently recieved a Sony Xperia Z1s as a gift. I think it's refurbished, since the warranty is expired. But I was wondering, if I purchase a 2yr extended warranty on it, what does that exactly cover? Does it cover water damage? I know the manual says it is waterproof up to 1.5m and up to 30 minutes, but if I decided to go swimming in my pool and want to take pictures/videos under water, and for some reason the phone stops working, will it be covered as long as I follow the 1.5m and up to 30 minute rule and make sure the ports are properly closed?

I'm sorry to say this but two points First  On the same link Warranties are only available within 365 days of the purchase date of the product. Just enter the date and we will determine if you quality.   Second the Z1s it's not sold on the website as it's a Tmobile phone, perhaps they, Tmobile, can guide you on this.  http://store.sony.com/unlocked-android-smartphones/cat-27-catid-Android-Smartphone

  • Xperia Z, Out of Warranty holding charge for only a few hours since Kit Kat Update

    Hi,
I am a hapless owner of Xperia Z. I purchased my phone in March 2013 in India during the month of its launch.
A day after I purchased I noticed that the phone was over heating like ****** and sent it to service center. After I received it back, it was working fine . I managed a workaround for heating by using a think case.
I moved to USA and here again I had to send my phone to service center for USB Connectivity Issues.
Now, since the Kit Kat update, my phone doesn't lasts for more than 4 hours and there's simply no communication from SONY on when will it be fixed. Now because my phone is out of warranty and I don't have a copy of my bill, the customer care refuse to entertain it or redirect to thier service centre.
I feel cheated as I invested my hard earned money on an expensive paper weight and with Customer care showing total apathy. All I want is a working phone.
I strongly urge SONY to advertise its short comings as well, like heating, no battery backup, finger prints on touch screen and sluggish performance.

Hi sksfreedom, At your convenience, please reach out to our colleagues at Sony Mobile for further assistance with your concern. You can reach them at this site: http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/contact-info/. Thanks, Charlie

  • There problems are covered by warranty? Xperia Z2

Hy!I have a sony xperia z2 for almost 1 year. Some months ago,1 form of screen bleeding appear on screen. After 1 month another one and another one.Now i have like 6,2-3mm full circles of white light. Its not like regular screen bleeding when you can see it on black background, its sesisable on  white background, low light the most.Another thing is a small gap left corner and a smaller one right top corner,so my device isnt 100% water proof. So should i go to warranty service? I have 1 month left for sony limitless waranty, and 1 year more where i bought the phone.Sorry for bad english!

You should contact your local Xperia care http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/contactUs/

  • Warranty for ''Waterproof'' Xperia Z3 compact

I Just have my Sony Xperia Z3 next to me and it's not working. I just put it into a jar of water for less than a min and it was ok but when i took it out the screen started to flash on and off and buttons didnt work and now it's death
So I cantact Sony support. they said send it over for repairing. HOWEVER, I dont want a repaired phone just after buying it 2 months ago. I need a new one plus it wasn't my fault, Sont said it's '' waterproof''.
I was a big fan of Sont for a long time but should I stay more?!

Because the phone is older than 30 days from purchase date then under EU consumer law a repair is all that can be offered or you could ask for a deadlock letter then take the matter to a court

  • Why Sony Xperia care (France) is the WORST customer support I ever seen?

Hello, I am desperate and disgusted by Sony that I believed to be a serious 'high end' company. The promises of 2 years guaranty and reparations within 10 days sound enthusiastic. But from my experience it is far, far away from truth:- After 8 months, my Xperia Z2 tablet suddenly stopped working during software update to Lollipop (black screen, unable to turn it on anymore).- Confident I sent it to Sony care expecting it back (repaired or a new device) within 10 days. BUT, 8 days after having received my device they just sent a message saying that the reparations are not covered by the guaranty (without any explanation why) and that I must pay a ridiculous quotation of 414EUR, stating that everything in my tablet has to be replaced. (why???)- After many unanswered e-mails and many attempts to get a phone contact, I got the reason of the guaranty refusal: I sent an USB cable that was not Sony branded and they consider it as an incompatible accessory!!!! (Ridiculous).I am waiting since one month for a solution. The main problem is that nobody takes care about customers. There is no way to have an answer. I already had low cost Chinese made devices, and their support was of a much better quality than Sony.

    Hi,
    I'm sorry to hear that.
Unfortunately, I cannot do anything from my position and neither can we at the support forum answer these questions. Warranty may differ from market to market and repair process is handled at a local level. You need to raise this with your local support team for further information about your repair and how to proceed with this in the best possible way. I suggest that you place a call to your local support team:

    How to root 4.0.4 (4.1.B.0.587 & 4.1.B.0.431)
We cannot root 4.1.B.0.587 directly, so to root it we first flash 4.1.A.0.562 kernel, run the rooting toolkit and in the end flash 4.1.B.0.587 kernel.
Few devices don't have their own 4.1.A.0.562 kernel, so we need to flash the 4.1.A.0.562 kernel of other devices just to root. However all devices have 4.1.B.0.587 kernel.
    Follow all the steps.
Go to settings > Security > Mark  "Unknown sources"
Settings > Developer options > Mark USB debugging
Settings > Xperia > connectivity > USB connection mode > select MSC mode
    Download Flashtool
    Windows Users > Flashtool
Linux Users > Flashtool ( From previous release tab, download 0.9.0.0 version)
After installing flashtool, reboot your PC.
1 ) Download the respective 4.1.A.0.562 kernel to flash

  • XPERIA Z -What kind of service/SUPPORT standards do you have? Is there any at all?

Hi guys. Hello sony mobile people. My name is Isaiah and I'm from Manila, Philippines. I am a solid sony fan boy for morethan 10 years now (mobile phones). Or maybe was a solid sony fan boy. Not until yesterday happened. 12/17/2013.
I heavily supported sony mobile products back when it was still sony ericsson. From the K-models, to vivaz, and up until to the xperia. I even strongly recommend it to my friends and family and keep persuading them to switch to a sony mobile device because of its outstanding design, features, and solid build quality. And I'm always excited when there is a new model or flagship mobile device to be released by sony. Correct me if I'm wrong but the engineers I guess were hurrying up to put out this new waterproof mobile devices out there without carefully checking, testing, and making sure that your phones are absolutely what they say they are.
I'm a chef. I work in the kitchen. Some Eight years ago I was working in the kitchen with my newly acquired sony phone, the k700i to be exact. I was very proud of it for it was my very first coloured phone with camera. I kept it inside the chest pocket of my Chef's jacket when suddenly I reached out on an Ice Chest full of cold water, and as i leaned to reach out for a bucket of ice, my unconcious mind forgot about the law of gravity. So the phone eventually and immediately slipped outside my pocket and went directly inside of the ice chest and fully submerged in very cold water. It was turned on and on standby mode. No matter how fast I reacted to retrieve it from the ice cold water it was already too late. By the moment I had it the screen was fully black. No power button could even wake it up. Long story short, the phone died right then and there. It wasnt waterproof and it was totally my fault. I took some time for me to move on for that was a very expensive device back then. It was such a loss.
After that incident I kept on wishing that one day sony would make a device which is waterproof or something that would be able to withstand the heat, the chaos, the wet, the dirty, and the sticky environment of the kitchen. Years have passed and now I have my own restaurant. Cooking even more, staying even more longer inside the kitchen. One of my very favorites was the Xperia Arc S. I bought two, one white and one black. My friends thought it was weird and stupid of me to get two units of the same brand and model. I say it was the obsession to have nice things that lead me to have both, it made me happy.  And finally Sony releases the Xperia Z.
It was the ultimate dream come true.
I bought two units in an instant. One for me and one for my fiancee who also works in the kitchen.
We loved it. And everything about it. It suited our lifestyle perfectly. Great photos, internet connectivity, water proof, great size, and extremely good looking.
Not until her phone started to charge in a funny manner. The phone just wont charge 100% it would stop at around 54% and never reach anything beyond it. We didnt mind for as long as we had hopes it would go back to normal.
Then after a week. It wouldnt charge anymore until the battery went 0%. It died.
Then charging it was useless. It wont charge at all. We left it on the charger for 30 minutes. An hour. Three hours. Still nothing. We tried all trouble shooting provided by the sony website. Still nothing.
I checked for the pink and red discoloration indicators on all ports. The one on top with the earphone jack was pink. And we never even went to a pool or submerged it under water. The last time it got wet was due to wiping it clean using a wetwipes.
and all ports were always closed properly. The only time we open it is when we charge it. So it is a total mystery to us how the water got in. Could it be the defect came from the plug of the port itself?  Probably. Or our unit was poorly made.
I went to the sony mobile center here in our country to have them fix it and check it. It seems like the problem of my phone was hardware according to them. And they suggest that I just purchase a new unit because there is no way to fix our unit anymore.
Oh my god. This phone aint even half a year old and they want me to buy a new one just because fixing it would amount to the price of a new one. As if its that easy to buy a new one. I feel like I have been scammed big time. The phone doesnt even have bumps or scrathces at all because of protective casings and it just died like that. Like it had a heart attack and can no longer be revived.
The customer support really surprised me. It was as if they were very used to answering it that way because maybe I wasn't the first one to have that kind of problem. And by the way I bought my fiancee a Xperia Z Ultra the day the xperia z died. Im planning to surprise her with it for christmas. But I just got depressed with this incident. I mean I am making Sony Mobile rich because I keep buying your products and in return when I, the customer, needs help or reasoning, repair, or any positive promises from you this is what I get. You tell me to just buy another one. Because youre too proud to tell in my face that your product is not defective at all and the fault is mine. And you wouldn't do anything about it.
You see, the trust that I had with your company for a very long time took years to build. My loyalty to the brand is just so solid.
And it took just one defective model to ruin it. One reasonless suggestion of go ahead and just buy another one as if it costs less than a dollar. Warranty? What for? You wont even listen to your cutomers around the world. More like buy at your own risk, or buy our products because you are filthy rich and when a defective one catches you just buy another one coz money dont cost a thing.  So to the engineers. Don't say that it is waterproof if it really aint. have you really even tried testing it on all different scenarios? Really? I just hope the Z ultra I purchased wont die as well. If it does. I'll start telling and suggesting everyone in my community to beware of your products. You can't even fix your own ceations properly and in a humanely manner. It is not as if my phone blew up.
You know what is more annoying is the fact that important information, pictures, files, videos, and numbers can never be retrieved on that xperia z. And that is the priceless part. And i am surprised that you guys can't really do anything about it. Xperia is experience right? I guess its true what they say. Experience Zzzzz.... it will now be sleeping forever.
Word of advice. Please. Learn how to take care of your customers. Especially the loyal ones. They are one of the major reasons why other people are switching to your brand. When left unsatisfied, they can also do otherwise. Thank you for wasting my money. make believe. sure
    Solved!

Yes I cannot deny the fact that errors and flaws are always present in such mobile devices due to extremely large or volume productions. But then again. We are paying customers who expect nothing but seamless service and performance that is why we pay premium for something premium. From what I see this warranties are not guarantees at all. We pay a lot so we expect a lot. We deserve respect. The company could at least hire a real mobile technician, as if they can't afford to hire one.
We can consider but only to a certain point. But matters like this wherein priceless information is lost, unretrievable, and more important information stored on the phone memory they could at least be more dependable in giving back to you.
From what I have read form other complains regarding this similar topic, Xperia Care is not doing anything at all, instead they answer like robots with the same messages and solutions that don't even work at all. And they said they have admins here who monitors everything all the time. To answer our queries. But I guess my plead is a good example of the kind of actions they are trying to do, they are doing nothing at all. They should name this place Xperia Don't Care or maybe they just forgot to place the Don't part.
This is hard earned money that I used to buy their products, blood, sweat, and sleepless working nights just to buy their products. By the looks of it they are treating their products as a disposable one. Something that would not last for half or one fourth of a lifetime. This kind of dissapointment that I have will keep on growing and other customers dissapointment will grow stroger as well. In due time it will lead to the failure of the whole brand of the mobile giant. This company does not understand that it will only take a spark to set the whole angry and unsatisfied customers on fire towards the brand name.
They keep claiming stuff, it feels like they are just scamming the customers of their hard earned money to buy something defective and disposable. Let us see on how they could cope up with social media, exposing how damaging their products are and how they treat their customers when a defective item comes up.

  • Xperia so-02c has a black screen since updating

    Hello,
I agreed to an Android update from Sony on 08/18/2012. It told me I needed to charge my battery before the update, so I did (although not fully) everything progressed fine until my phone powered off. Since then it hasn't powered back on. This is the first update I’ve ever agreed to, needless to say if I’d thought this would happen I wouldn’t have agreed to Sony’s download.
Originally I could hold the power button down and the phone would still vibrate, but nothing else would happen. When I plugged it into the computer and then pressed the back button the green light would come on.  I've re-updated the phone using PC companion, and Update Service. I have both the Update, and the Factory Reset + update options. Each time the software on my computer told me the update was successful. Now when I hold down the power button the LED will flash red three times, no matter how long I hold it there is no longer any vibration. I have also tried holding down the power/volume up (and down) buttons, but the screen continues to ignore me. The screen has never showed no signs of life since the update. When this whole things started the phone was low on memory. When I plug the phone into the charger it blinks red at a steady pace before turning a solid green; I have not seen any other colors than red or green from the LED since this all began. I have tried all of the above with the SD and SIM card in, one in and one out, vise versa and both out. I don’t know if the phone is unlocked; I’m assuming at this point that it’s bricked
It's a Japanese phone from Docomo but I've been using it in Canada without any problems. I’ve had no battery problems and the screen was functioning fine until all of this started. I bought the phone two months ago but I have no warranty.
I would certainly appreciate any help you can offer.

Try letting the phone charge for a couple of hours and then run the software repair option in PCC. If it doesn't help it needs to be examined at an repair center to get it fixed. Contact your local support team to check if they might be able to help you.

  • For application of my sony product warranty, where should i submit my case ?

    Dear Sony International Support:
    To whom it concerns:
I address this matter kindly to let you know my case.
On October of 2013 being at the USA I started my search for a mobile phone, the Xperia line was a great option, not only because of its stunning gorgeous look, but yet very powerful and the option of really nice integrated cameras.
Finally, I decided for an Xperia Z, the flagship of the Xperias at that time. I must be very clear at this point because being México my original residence country I asked for a phone whose later I could adapt easily to mexico mobile phone operators and operating bands, so the seller recommended an “Unlocked” phone and I was assured by the seller that the product I was buying would work without problems.
After my return to México I signed up for a mobile plan for my new phone with Telcel mobile operator, they configured my phone and it worked flawlessly.
Some months later I planed a trip to Europe, this trip started in May of 2014, in this trip I was very confident that my Xperia Z would do the job about my photo memories.
At the point I arrived Europe, the phone started to show strange behavior, such as receiving strange SMS messages in special characters like:  “#%[]¨_:_:[]]l¨}{“  for example.
Didn’t thought it was important and I ignored this, I thought it was maybe just the way data coding from Europe local operators work.
The point is; being at the middle of my trip, I had already a lot of photos stored on my Xperia internal memory.
One night after finishing a skype wi-fi call at the hotel, the phone just turned itself off , since that moment the phone got stuck into a loop of booting and restarting cycles,  when booting it gets into an incomplete home  screen, and then it reboots just a few seconds later,  this loop is continuous.
Clearly the trip was over for my Xperia, taking away with it’s failure my memories stored in, wich i didn’t have the chance to back up.
So I decided to continue my trip, buying a digital camera, and storing at nights in my laptop all my photos.
Of course, I hope you understand the great inconvenience that this product failure represented for me.
At my return to México on June, I contacted to Sony mobile support, they told me they could do nothing and they couldn’t make valid my warranty, and that I was meant to ask for support in the United States, but they kindly offered me to update the firmware of the phone as a courtesy, assuring me that this procedure wouldn’t affect the warranty of my product, finally this update couldn’t repair the problem leaving the phone in the same loop.
I’m somewhat disappointed about the Sony Mobile Support here at México.
Being honest I’m very concerned about recovering all my data in the phone, specially my photos, and videos I trusted to my phone, of course I’m concerned about the warranty of my phone too, but after reading that so many Xperia Z´s are having the same problem (reboot loop) at Sony official forums, and knowing about so many users having it replaced for a different model, Sony in this way is recognizing the native failure of the PCB in this particular model.
That’s the main reason I’m totally not interested in having the same model, or the same product being repaired.
I’m totally shure that Sony support have the right tools and knowledge to recover my data images on the phone, that’s quite important for me.
I feel very disappointed that the seller didn’t told me about not having the warranty support at the country I asked him, where I was going to use the phone.
So I’m asking you kindnessly for the recover of all my data stored on the internal memory of the phone, and the refund of this same product because I don’t want to have this problems with warranty and the native design defects.
For me it’s very strange that Sony being a global company can’t offer me the right support in Mexico city.
I’m totally interested on other Xperia models like the Xperia Z2, but first I need to know, that if this happens again, there will be a great support backing me up, specially on the flagship models.
Finally I will appreciate a lot to know the procedure that you require from me to continue through this warranty case.
Im attaching the ticket of my product in this e-mail.
I appreciate a lot your kindness and professional support in this matter.
    Sincerely your Customer,
    Cesar Bazán
