Xperia Z3 Dual battery drain..running 4.4.4

Greeting guys
I recently switched to andriod with the new xperia z3 dual, the battery drains very fast. its abnormal, please look at the usage , your help guys is very much appreciated. i still didnt start using it heavly , instagram and whatsapp are being used occaisionally only.

Given the power usage on the screens you get 9.5 hours on 14% of battery.
Assuming that battery is discharging lineary you should get about 68 hours of usage.
68 hours is 2.8 days so it's more than Sony claimed in its advertising.
Standby (deep sleep) at about 70% of time is pretty normal. It looks really good.
Z3 has a very big screen. As soon as it is on battery levels are going down pretty fast. You can increase a bit your uptime by reducing brightness (you can adjust it to lower levels even with auto ON).
Also enable Stamina mode. If you need some apps to be running all the time like email or your favorite messenger add it to exceptions by touching stamina mode menu and then adding apps.
You can also enable location based wifi. Phone will automatically enable and disable wifi when you reach places with already used networks.
Best regards,
Sergio PL

  • Xperia Z1 sudden battery drain

Ive had my Xperia Z1 for just over a year and for the last couple of weeks I have had an issue where the battery will go from 30% to 10% and then power off in a few minutes. Sometimes it will be at 25% and then power off saying 0%
I have followed the advice on here, tried repairing etc through Sony bridge for Mac. I have spent all afternoon reinstalling and reconfiguring all of my apps and my phone has just gone from 25% to 0% and powered off
How is it that people are still having this issue? Surely someone must be able to provide an answer that works.
I find it incredible that a company like Sony are unable to provide an answer to a problem that a lot of people seem to be having...

Sorry i don't mean to hijack the thread but wanted to chime in that i have exactly the same problem over the last two months. For example i had 83% charge which then fell to 45% and then the phone had instant battery drain.
No unusual apps running, just browsing the net and pandora in the background.

  • Xperia Z3 Dual - Battery Issue

  • Xperia Z3 sudden battery drain

Hi, I am new new to the forum and this is my first post.
I have an Xperia Z3 D6653. Lately I have been noticing that the battery has been draining faster than normal. I installed a battery analyzser app for that too.
    A few observations:
The battery drops from 12% to ~4% in matters of seconds.
When the phone is on charge at 96% it jumps to 99% and comes back to 97% and then again 99% and suddenly 100%. This was using the wall charger.
The main point which made me write this post was my idle drain. I sleep with my phone 100% and wake up at 52%. My WiFi auto sync and GPS was on. No bluetooth or NFC.
I understand there is battery drain but 48% is not understandable.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
Since google play services is using the maximum battery, it's for sure that one of the app is the culprit. ( in the second screenshot, apps usage is 74% of the total battery used  )
Uliwooly gave the best possible way to determine it.
Usually a normal phone restart could also help fix the problem.

  • 10.3.1 Quick Battery Drain Runs Hot Keeps Coffee Cup Warm

WOW amazing battery drain with 10.3.1.  Where can i get the previous OS of 10.2.xxx as do not want to be tethereed to a wall outlet or car charger.   Wow runs IS 10.3.1 hot pretty sure if I leave my coffee cup on the phone it will keep it warm.

I had the same problem for a week on my Q10. I was extremely frustrated as I couldn't get any advice from Blackberry and the best advice on this forum suggested a "security wipe".  I reluctantly decided to go ahead and do that. I first  tried to back the phone up.  I had to update the BB Link software on my PC and then was able to do the backup. I started to download the software suggested here (which takes 5 hrs unless you pay for it) and then realised the phone seemed to be OK again. Since then it lasted 48hrs and today is only down to 88% after 9hrs.
My problem was mainly that Standby was using 50% of the battery & Androd Player 15%. Both are now under 2%.
Your phone may have a different problem so if you've downloaded the latest BB LInk and done a backup with no luck then all I can say is good luck!

  • Mid 2013 macbook air: battery drain / running hot

    Hi there,
For the last couple weeks my MBA starts to run hot and drain battery fast if I've been using it for a few hours.
I use it a lot on most days and connect to powercord only once it drops down low, like below 20%.
Have just seen other posts who recommend doing that at 50% battery and will now do the same.
However my question is: have i ruined my battery in the meantime?
AND/OR is there something else i can do to get battery running like it used to, and stop the loud fan switching on all the time because it's all running too hot?
I've copied in an etrecheck in case that helps diagnose more....
    thanks heaps for any help!

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the request of a stranger on a public message board. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed: Copy a line of text from this web page into the window of another application. Wait for the script to run. It usually takes a few minutes. Then paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

  • High CPU usage - Rapid Battery Drain - Running HOT

    Looking for help.. PLEASE!
    Z10 - Model STL100-3 Software release 10.2.1.2179
    Symptoms;
Occasionally, and for no apparent reason, I notice my Z10 getting hot in my pocket. I run the device monitor App and see a very high CPU usage, which consequently drains the batter very quickly.
I've tried all the solutions from every support group thread and blog. And I mean ALL!
    Pulling the battery
    Replaced the battery
    Removed the SIM
    Deleted G Mail
Removed all 3rd party Apps (2)
    Stopped email sync
    Stopped calendar sync
    Turned off all radio
    Turned Off Wi-Fi
Let it sit for hours, even days to let it finish doing whatever its trying to do
    Etc Etc Etc.
Finally, I called BB support, they wanted $50 to talk to someone. I told them the issue, they said the device is bad and must be replaced. I said its software related!! They said.. no, its a hardware issue. Device is under warranty and they want me to just go get a new one. I don't want a new one, I want a fix! Stop the waste of BB $
    Temporary solution
Eventually, I decided I would do a restore, back to the factory settings, and here's when I found something
I run BB Link, connect the device, do a back-up... and LOW AND BEHOLD.. this fixes the high CPU usage and the device runs great, very cool, low cpu and extremely long battery life.
Sadly! .. this problem reoccurs, after a few days, sometimes after a couple of weeks and just out of the blue.
I can force this fault to occur, simply by doing a restart of the device. Sure enough, it will run hot, use all the cpu and I will have to do a back-up to get it to settle down again. I've tried to wait for the so called 'indexing' to finish, but it never stops running with high cpu and doesn't help.
Can any one tell me whats happening and how to make this a permanent fix?
There are hundreds if not thousands of people having very similar issues, and many different methods to fix it. Its my belief that there is an underlying bigger problem that relates to all these differing fixes, but as yet.. I cant find it and none of these fixes work for me. For now... I will keep doing the occasional back-up and hope I get a response that can help.
Thanks to all that read this.

The heat may be normal. After a little water damage incident, which I repaired, I disassembled my Z10 the find a small heat sink will thermal compound. This helps dissipate heat efficiently. I found a large number of air bubbles and possibly a large air pocket by the way the paste stuck to both sides. I removed the old paste and replaced it with artic silver paste and the z10 has been much much cooler. It use to run about 105*f and now it is around 85*f.
See this thread I posted for before and after pictures using a thermal imager.

@Curve8530 .....as much a s your discovery is appreciated, I hardly believe that most people will actually dismantle their phone to remove the paste and replace with arctic silver. Besides, what you are doing is not a fix for the actual problem....
In most cases, this heat is associated with apps using the CPU resources beyond the normal limits.
As an easy fix, finding and removing the app(s) in question followed by a reboot, solves the issue. In some cases an OS reload is necessary.... but under no circumstances I would even remotely suggest to any member to dismantle their phone and do what you did...

  • Multitasking on iPod Touch 4G, running iOS 6.1.2, nearly impossible. Opened,  background apps do not seem to stay in memory and must "reload" every time I switch back to them. Also, intense battery drain (imo).

Let's say I'm playing Words with Friends, and also Angry Birds. I may want to go back and forth between the two. When I do so, the app that was in the background needs to reload again. There is no quick access or ability to quickly resume where I left off. And the reloading means that the app restarts from its opening screens...so if I was working on a level, I have to start all over again. And quite often, a game like Angry Birds will lag greatly when I first open it...moving almost in slow-motion.
I don't know if this is typical behavior when playing multiple games, or if I have an issue with my device. I've rebooted and even reset and restored, all to no avail.
There doesn't appear to be as much of an issue if I'm playing one game but also have the music player open, or Safari, Notes, Reminders, etc. Those will resume just fine, though there may be some lag when opening/re-opening them.
So I guess the problem seems to lie within 3rd party apps, and not the apps that are part of the iPod/iOS.
The other problem is battery drain. I do all of my music listening via Bluetooth, so I expect that to have a greater impact than if I were using plugged in headphones, and I have location services turned on. But I have most notifications turned off, all email accounts set to manual and not push, screen brightness turned down and auto brightness turned on, "ask to join networks" turned off, auto-lock is set to 2 minutes but I almost always turn off the screen immediately after setting up my music listening (since I do so at work), volume limit turned on, EQ turned off, sound check turned off,
With these settings, my battery can drain 20% or more within 10-15 minutes of game play. And these are not what I would consider memory intensive games--just Words and Angry Birds.
I've installed (and recently uninstalled) a couple of battery meters from the Apple Store as well--freebies. Carat, Battery Doctor, Battery HD, Battery Magic.
Carat and Battery Doctor seemed to offer the most pertinent and accurate information so the others were uninstalled long ago.
The Accelerate tab in Battery Doctor show the amount of memory in use, and the amount of available memory. The vast majority of the time, the memory in use is approximately 94%. I will occasionally choose to "accelerate" which supposedly frees up memory, but this "bump" lasts only a brief time and I'm not sure it's a great idea.
Even with absolutely nothing open or running, my used memory is generally still above 80%.
Carat, if anyone is familiar with it, shows a J-Score. My J-Score is 17, which means that my performance (according to Carat, anyway) is better than only 17% of the users who have Carat installed. In other words, 83% of people are getting better performance from their devices. It also has "battery hog" and "battery bug" sections. It doesn't detect any hogs or bugs.
I use my iPod Touch in rather limited ways. A typical day consists of approximately 5 hours of music listening via Bluetooth and 30 minutes to 1 hour of playing the aforementioned games. The occasional note and reminder, perhaps a brief check-in with the weather, and that's about it. And wifi is in use only when at home (there is no hotspot at work). Still, I need to charge it every day. I'd be keen to do more with the iPod if I could count on it to last more than a day.
I've read up on multiple forums and blogs for tips on prolonging a battery charge, and believe I've taken everything into account, and applied whatever I could. I've even reset the network settings and try to discharge the battery completely once a month (for supposed battery calibration).
I'm really hoping people can offer some suggestions or comments on whether this is typical behavior or if my battery is going, or even offer some additional tips.
With iOS 7 on the horizon, I'm hoping the upgrade will offer some resolutions (I've read there is better multitasking), but considering how weakly my device performs at this point, I'm not entirely convinced that an iOS upgrade will actually make any improvements.
    Thanks a lot for reading.

No, the app does not have to completely restart. It gets shifted in its open state into storage. Similar to how a computer uses the hard disk when it has insufficient memory.
What complicates things is that sometimes memory does not get returned for reuse when you close an app. Thus yo should periodically double click the Home button and "delete" unnecessary apps from the multitasking dock and power off and then back on the iPod.

  • Macbook Pro running slow/battery drains when closed

    Hi!
I have a Macbook Pro 13-inch, mid-2012 running OS X 10.9. It recently started running extremley slow and the spinning ball pops up all the time when I try to do basically anything, but mostly when I try to do more than one thing at a time. Sometimes it will run normal, but then slow up. The spinning ball also pops up basically everytime that I try to play a video or anything like that. The adobe flash plugin also seems to crash a lot.
Also, when it is closed, it becomes very warm and the battery drains while it is closed. It seems like it doesn't really turn off when it closes.
Anyone know what could be causing this?
    Thanks!

I ended up having to take it in. Turned out there was a connection to the hard drive that was loose or something. I took it to a store in my city that specializes in macs so I didn't have to spend a fortune. Otherwise, I had someone else look at it and they said that it could have been from when I updated my computer, that something didn't download properly- which has been an issue in some computers.

  • Xperia Z1 Battery Drain

I have been reading posts all over that the Xperia Z1 gives quite a good battery performance but I am not sure if my unit is defective or not as I have shut down the xreality engine, put the network mode to "WCDMA (preferred)/GSM", screen brightness slider is full but the "adapt to lighting conditions" is on,  low battery mode is on, location-based Wi-Fi is on, Auto Sync is on (for dropbox, facebook, google, Whatsapp and Xperia with Facebook), location services is off and the bluetooth and NFC both are off! Even after doing all this my battery drains really fast, its down to 40% now with only about 5 hours of being removed from the charger! I just wanted to know if this was normal with the Z1 or is it something to do with my unit and since its only about a week old I can request for a replacement. It would be much appreciated if you guys can help me out!! cheers PS: I have included a picture of the battery usage history from the phone

Dear Sony again your battery results are dismal for video playback and Web browsing I mean the z1 has the best call time of any phone then to be shot down with Web browsing and video playback well below the 7 hour mark with a 3000mah battery. Your software needs optimising ASAP because competition with similar specs get over 10 hours Web browsing and almost the same playing video so how is it with a lighter skin you my dear Sony is doing so bad? Gsm area gave you a 53 hour endurance rating and these tech sites are the eyes and ears for many who are considering your devices it's not all about specs and then can't back it up also your camera is getting subpar reviews please up your software game as a one time leader in innovation you are struggling badly now. :-(

  • Re: Xperia z2 battery drain

while I'm playing clash of clans my cell phone battery drain supper fast even though it's charging. it's drops every second 1% while it's full charge. I had connect another charger xperia z1 then also the battery drain...... my cell firmware is up to date then also I'm facing problems.. plz help me

What i think it happening is the phone is using more power to play the game etc than the charger is providing so although it will be getting power it's just not enough for the battery % to go up however as it is going down you'll find it's going down as fast

  • Passport battery drain -- 'Input Services' running at high CPU %

This is the best phone I have ever owned -- size, physical keyboard, fantastic battery life (under normal circumstances) BUT every 2-3 weeks, it begins to misbehave.
I'm not sure what the trigger is but the following happens:
    1. Top RHS of the phone gets very hot.
    2. Upon unlocking, the location services icon is often 'on' (before disappearing a few seconds later).
    3. Device monitor shows Input Services at high CPU percentage Eg: 25% or higher.
    4. Battery drains from full charge to empty in about 3 hours, irrespective of use. Charging takes hours, particularly via USB or car kit due to the high-rate of drain.
I am not running any added apps and OS is updated to latest. The only fix is to backup the phone, restore factory settings and restore data.  Then 2-3 weeks later, problem repeats.
I'm convinced 'Input Services' is the culprit -- but why???  Is this service related to the physical keyboard somehow?
    Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello @all,
Same problem here. Got my Passport 10 days ago.

  • Battery drain on iphone4s (runs out)

My battery on my iphone4s won't last more than 10 hours. I take it off charge at 7am and it will always die before 5pm.
I have never got it to last more than a full day. I only use it to text afew times a day. I have tried turning all apps, settings, brightness, location, wifi, bluetooth off but still will NEVER last a day. I've tried update and resotre but still have the same issues. Deleted apps, turning off icould stream, turning of calendars (sync) but still no joy.
My friend has an iphone4s and on the way home from work at 4pm my battery is on 7% and his is sometimes on 90%. I got the phone pretty much when it just came out.
Can anyone please identify the problem?
Thanks people, I am hopeful someone will help me.

I started to have this problem after upgrading from 8.0 to 8.0.2.  I went to a local Apple Store and talked to those "Geniuses".  They definitely knew this problem.  They did some tests and then told me that the battery works great.  They said the problem was due to some software issues, for example, some old apps.  I was told to do a fresh install of iOS and reset all settings to the default factory settings.  They also told me that iOS 8.1 would come out very soon and it would fix the issue. I left that store and then tried the solution. Of course, it did not work.  I reset my phone, set it up as a new phone, and did not install any apps. I even turned on the Airplane mode. Still, the power drained from 100% to ~12% after one night's standby.
I also tried iOS 8.1. The newer version is even worse!  First, it seems that the battery drains even faster.  Second, the phone becomes pretty hot (50-60 Celsius) even with normal daily use like email, web-browsing, and calls.  The worst part is on the side of the phone:  I could not even hold it for very long time.
I had an on-line chat with Apple support.  Again, they told me that the hardware has no problem.  They also deny that iOS 8 is the cause of the problem.  They just told me to do a fresh install again!  BTW, I asked if they could help me to downgrade the iOS to 7.1.2.  The answer is no.  Once you have upgraded, Apple does allow you to go back. To sum up, Apple knows the problem.  But they do not admit it and of course, will not fix it.

  • My iphone 4S 64gb factory unlocked keep freezing when running especially the music and photo app; and it keep rebooting itself after every total battery drain; i'm on ios 5.1

i upgraded to the ios 5.1; and i realized that each time i have a comple battery drain and the phone goes off; when i connect the iphone to charge; it keeps rebooting itself. And the phone freezes when in the middle of applications; i have to stop the app and start it several times before it works; i have an iphone 4S 64gb factory unlocked

At first drain the battery till the iPhone gets off for many times isnt really a good thing read this:
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/
after that I think the only way that will help you is restore the iPhone and the bad news are that you should do it without restore a backup after cause you're problem could be saved in the backup of the phone too so you must manually reinstall apps, preferences etc etc

  • HT4060 What's best for maximizing the life span of the battery, to run out the battery before charging it again or to charge it before it drains out completely?

I usually charge my iPad after all the battery drains out but someone told me it damage the software so I wanna know if draining out the full battery is good or not. Thank you.

Lithium based batteries as in the iPad do not respond well to repeated draining.
