If you have the Xperia Z3v that's fine, it's waterproof, it doesn't require a cover/flap

  • Xperia Z3v Head Phone Jack Cover

Just curious if any one of you had dipped your Xperia Z3v in water....On sonymobile.com it says that make sure all the ports are closed, but the phone did not come with a head phone jack cover.  Does that mean it is already waterproof?  I examined all the photos avaiable on sonymobile.com and none of the pictures showing the phone under water had the head phone jack covered.  Any feed back (from Sony) would be appreciated!  Thanks for reading

  • Does the headset jack must be closed for being able to be used underwater?

For what I know, for Xperia Z3 could be used while underwater, all the ports must be closed firmly. Is it include the headset jack? Because I didn't have the closure cap during purchasing it.Or I have to buy the closure cap separately?

    As Phy said.
Z1 , Z Ultra, Z2, Z3, Z1/Z3 Compact. All phones have exposed headset jack that is waterproof without any need for cover.
However it would be good move to let the jack dry completely before using headphones.

  • Headset jack cover seems to be malfuntioning.

As i were listening to some music, there seems to be a problem with the headset jack. it keeps telling that i plugged and unplugged it. its probadbly due the wet headset jack. but i need know for sure. pls help!

If you have exposed your phone to water or moisture you should let the headset jack dry before you start using it.
You can blow gently into the 3,5mm jack and it should dry soon.

    Hi Koko,
welcome to the Sony Xperia Support forum..
If look at the headphone cover you should see a small gap using your finger nail you should be able to flip the cover out..
See image below, although not the headphone port, it should give you an idea of what the small gap should look like..
Edit: seems I was to slow in typing my reply..

  • Need to upgrade my HTC Thunderbolt. Sony Xperia Z3v or HTC One (M8)??

I used to be a photographer since the film days but now that everyone in the world thinks they are "photographer," I gave up. But photos as a hobby is still important to me. I love photo options and high pixels. Sony was nice for that but HTC for affects/ options. Verizon reps knew either nothing or what I already knew. I feel I am teaching them about the Turbo and Xperia Z3. So I need help. I've researched and played with these phones (hated Moto camera interface, LG, Samsung, always hated iPhone): HTC One M8 and Sony Xperia Z3v. Not sure if Sony uploads to my Mac easily from phone either. I would like the best quality in camera, sound, text/calling experience. Who has the best voice recording? Ease of using personal dictionary, select all/copy/paste? Thanks.

I had an m8. The 4mp camera is good, but, when you zoom while recording or with a picture after its taking I noticed extremely soft edges and slight chop in the pixels, the 3d effects are nice although you can only view those from the phone. The sound was amazing and the system ran smooth most of the time. However,  I upgraded to the z3v; I am not disappointed the multiple options inside the camera app are insane and it does take some of the best videos and pics I've ever seen in a phone. But,  it's just that,  a phone,  so the audio isn't great and some other things not worth mentioning. The xperia has 3gb ram which provides a noticeable boost in performance, where the m8 would lag here and there. My last gripe with the xperia is that because of its slight "step-chill" hybrid z2-z3 deal they didn't work out keeping data connection while in a voice call,  not a huge deal for me,  but,  there are those occasions when I'm in a call and need to check to see if an email sent or long into a server for work and I have to call whomever back because I can't do both.
I get almost two days out of a full charge on this (1day with a lot of usage), longer if you enable one of the stamina modes; opposed to the m8 I only got a day or a tad longer(less than a day with a lot of usage), but,  usually both streaming Pandora for a couple hours with screen off,  the usual amount of texts and emails and maybe 45 min of Web browsing with a few 20-35 min phone calls.
Waterproof is my big thing,  the xperia is waterproof to a point,  make sure flaps are closed and I bought some silicone headphone jack port plugs and put a little silicone sealer (let it dry) on them to keep the water from entering the headphone port, salt water would wreak havoc in there; I rinse the whole phone with fresh (bottled) water after. No problems.

  • Xperia Z3v - Lack of support and synergy with existing Xperia software

So far I like my Xperia Z3v but don't love it. Among the reasons, the most glaring one is the disconnect from Sony Mobile Support and Verizon Wireless, neither cares about owners of the Z3v...
I understood that the Z3v was a re-branded and modified Z3 for the Verizon network, so some minor differences (size, battery, etc.) would be present. I was unaware, however, that Sony would basically turn a blind eye to the phone and Verizon wouldn't do more than basic support (if it 'aint broken, we don't care).
    Here's what I mean:
    - No PC companion support (Z3v will not be recognized by the program. I've done a support chat with Sony Care and they said that was because Z3v is only supported by Verizon and not Sony....Imagine if Apple said that about the 'Verizon' version of iphones...no itunes integration, users just had to upload files directly to iphone with no programs or interface... )
    - No Media Go support (same as above)
    - No Wireless connect to computer (it's tied to the PC Companion issues, I believe)
    - No way to transfer contacts or files from previous phone (again, PC Companion) without buying an extra connector
For a company that is seemingly struggling to stay afloat in anything besides Playstation related stuff, you would think Sony would try a little harder to be there for customers who took a gamble and bought their product.
I have a few days to decide if I want to keep this phone and if I don't hear any noise about Sony working on a way to get the Z3v to play nicely with their PC Companion and related software, I will likely return it and pay the re-stocking fee to get a phone that is actually supported by the company who made it.

Thank you Rickard for your response, but the standalone installation did not result in any changes.
I recognize it was probably Verizon's fault to some extent with their desire to create a custom version of the Xperia Z3 instead of just using the standard model, but I still cannot see why the PC Companion or Media Go cannot be updated to recognize and work with the Z3V system and structures.
I have been a life-long sony fan and have been happy with the way Sony reacts and supports their users for the most part. That is probably why I feel this slide in support is so discouraging.
Again, I don't see any other brand of phone makers (that I know of) turning a blind eye to their newest phones just because it's on a different network or a slightly different build (mechanicaly and software wise). My understanding is that all i-phones must be different slightly for Verizon and AT&T networks due to the network and setup requirements, but Apple doesn't limit itunes compatibility with just one network's version of the phone, it works across all Apple products. I made the leap from Apple to Sony because I like Sony, but this is not a good start for my experience with this phone and Sony's software.
I do appreciate your support and recognize you have limited ability to fix the situation, so I do hope you forward my sentiments to the appropriate internal teams.
    thanks again.

  • How to copy and paste text from a web site viewed in Chrome using the Xperia z3v?

I have searched high and low for a way to copy and paste text from a web site in Chrome using the Xperia z3v.  I've tried a long tap, a double tap, a triple tap - nothing works. I am able to select text, copy and paste it in a Word doc, however.  There must be some way to do this on a web site in Chrome. I'm certain I am not trying to select text that is really an image. I am trying to copy text. Here is the link where I'm trying to get the text. It's a recipe.http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ree-drummond/mushroom-pilaf.html#! Maybe I should try to get Firefox for smart phones and see if that works. Any ideas?Thank you!

  • IPad 3 Headset (Jack?) issues

Figured I would see what anyone else thinks.  I consider myself to be pretty darned knowledgeable about iDevices.  I have been inside iPhones, iPod touch, iPads. I can normally fix things easily. This one has me a bit worried
I bought an iPad 3 when they were released.  I bought it at Walmart for some odd reason (never again).  So when I checked out, the woman asked if I wanted to buy the protection plan.  I said no, because I always get applecare+.  She replied that it was the same as applecare, and I told her that I doubted it.  I said that if I have an issue with my ipad through applecare, I just get a new one.  She said you get the same thing here, but instead of driving 2 hours or shipping it off, you can come in here and get one. I decided to try it, and needless to say, it was not anything close.
The headphone jack on the iPad started doing something where when a set of headphones are plugged in, it would freeze up and then reboot, and get stuck on the Apple logo.  Then it started ruining headphones within 2 weeks.  No matter how many we bought, it would short them out or something.
So, I tried to take it back to WM, and they said they were not responsible, and that I needed to contact an outside source.  I did, and they had me ship it off to be repaired.  It came back, and you could tell that someone just like me had repaired. As a matter of fact, I could have done a better job
Never the less, it came back and the headset jack seemed to work.  However, it is already starting to do the same thing.  Assuming that they actually replaced it like they were supposed to, then I assume that it has to be something else.  Since it worked at first, I guess they did replace it.  I can replace the jack again, and just see, but I feel there might be another problem elsewhere.
Moral of the story, is DO NOT BUY WALMART extended service plan.  I think that the lady was not lying to me, but ended up selling me the wrong plan. After some research, it is apparent that Walmart has 2 levels.  First level is the service plan ($79), and then a replacement plan ($99 I think).
I will be fixing it this time

  • Is the 3.5 headset jack for handsfree & headphones

Samsung Galaxy Note II - Sorry, but here is a really clueless question.  Is the 3.5 headset jack used for both hands-free connections and earphones for MP3?
    Thanks,

I asked because I don't know for sure.  I'll contact Samsung Monday.

  • IPhone 3G headset jack not working

    HI,
The headset jack of iPhone 3G suddenly started playing up. I can listen to music without any hiccup, can hear the other person loud and clear but people complain of a lot of static noise at times and at other times they cant hear me at all. I have personally tested this scenario.
Now to troubleshoot I plugged in my Bose headset which works fine. Hence I asked for a replacement of the headset which came with the phone. Inspite of the replacement the problem remained.
Then I checked out the new headset with other phones having 3.5mm jack and it worked fine.
This confirms that the jack is the problem. I tried to clean it with a clip but no dirt came out at all.
I tried blowing some compressed air into it but to no avail.
Now in India the only support available for the iPhone is through the cellular service provider (Airtel in my case). But those guys understand nothing about technology and have not been able to help me out with cleaning the port.
The only option left for me now is to send it to the Apple support center through Airtel which leaves me without my phone for at least 7 days. The rest of the phone works just fine.
Is there any other solution to this problem other than sending it to Apple for either a repair or a replacement?
    Thank You,
P.S: I know that this topic has been discussed but not the exact problem. Appreciate any answer.

Thanks mate. Just found out another weird issue! There are headphone jacks which have 2 rings around the jack and others which have 3. My iphone works well with the ones with 2 rings (infact the new in-ear headphones are the ones with two rings around the jack) but not with the ones with 3. This is true for other 3.5mm jacks. Checked that out as well. Do you think it could be an issue with the 2.2.1 firmware?
    Thanks

  • No audio from headset jack

I am wondering if there is an app or other process that would possibly turn off audio to the headset jack. The headset that I have used in the past is functioning, but when attached to my Droid Razor Maxx no longer plays audio. When plugged into my Razor, I no longer receive audio through the ear pieces, but the audio still plays through the phone's speaker. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

You can try restore in iTunes also

  • Yoga 13 - Headset jack with splitter adapter doesn't recognize microphone

    Hi,
I'm trying to use my LifeChat LX 2000 headset with the Yoga 13's combi jack. The LX2000 has separate plugs for mic and headphone. I bought a standard adapter to convert this into the required combi jack, but only the headphones work. The mic is not recognized. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the conexant driver and replaced the adapter with a new one. No change.
The headset works on other computers with split jacks.
    Any thoughts?
I know that there is the option of USB headsets, but since I already own the LX2000 and would prefer to not block another precious USB slot, I'd prefer using the available combi jack - as that's what the jack should be there for...
    Thanks,
    Jan

Thanks, XMB. This is very helpful information. Can't believe that even such a little item as a headset jack with three contacts has an universal industry standard...
I'll see if I can find an adapter that's wired for Apple standards, although it surprises me that Lenovo would choose the Apple method if most other PC's use another standard.
So can you confirm that the wiring diagram in below link is correct for the Apple vs Nokia wiring?
    http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/showthread.php/5393-S2-stock-headset-in-iphone-standard
Is there any documentation in the Yoga technical specs that allows to identify which wiring is used in the machine? I know you mentioned it uses the Apple standard, but it would be nice to know that this is mentioned in some documentation officially.
    Thanks
