Xpress music 5310 access codes

Hi,  I have a problem setting my call barring on the 5310. According to 5310 manual, the default access code for call barring is 12345. The problem is the input field only has 4 spaces for numbers so it fails to activate because I can only enter 1234. BTW, I haven't set any of my own security codes yet.
From searching the web I have found people have have this issue with this phone and the access codes. They were given various codes to try, but the matter was not resolved. From the advice given from this research, I have tried:
12345
1234#
1234
4321
0000
000
None of them work.
Could someone please tell me what the default access code is for the 5310?
Thanks.

to set how phone uses codes and security
settings, select Menu > Settings > Security.
you may need a pin from your provider for some codes the default is 12345
if this is not correct somebody else or your operator has changed it
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Compatible headset for Xpress Music - 5310

    Hi All,
Can anybody tell me Xpress music 5310 phone is compatible of 2.5 mm or 3.5 mm Headset phones ??
    Please reply.
Message Edited by narayanan_iyer on 10-Jun-2009 11:20 AM

sorry Confiture but you're wrong there. i know 5610 is only 2.5mm and comes with AD-56 to enable a 3.5mm, but i am pretty sure i have seen 5310 take a standard set of earphones without the need for an adapter. in fact i am definite, as i had a 5610 before and had a lok at 5310 in the shops and it had a bigger socket for headphones, so must be 3.5mm
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

  • Sync Mac/nokia xpress music 5310

Recently the synchronisation between my phone Nokia Xpress Music 5310 and Mac OsX 10.4.11 fails.
Before, I used i Sync with the plug-in advised on the Nokia support site, but now synchronisation with iCal fails and stays hanging allways on the same number of items. I tried to install the plug in on another Mac, and also there synchronisation fails...Now on my computer I have i Sync 2.4.
Anyone any idea why it stopped functioning? (before I really didn't have any problem with the synchronisation with iCal...) Any idea what to do about it?
Thank you in advance for helping me with this!!

    Hi,
Could be a possiblity that the ical is not responding to the sync command from isync.
Try the steps below and check if it works.
    - Open Isync and then go to isync preferences-Reset Sync history.
    - Remove the device from the isync application window
    - Go to HDD/Library/Phone plugins and drag and drop the plugin to the trash.
    - Restart Mac and then download the plugin from www.nokia.com/mac and check.
Alternatively you could also try the following steps.
    - Go to Library/Calendars/Sue.ics, now drag and drop the sue.ics file to the desktop.
    - Now double click the sue.ics file in the desktop it will ask if you want to import the ics file into an existing calendar or a new calendar. Select new calendar.
NOTE: Please make sure that you take a back up of all the calendar entries before performing the above steps.
    Hopefully it works
    Cheers

  • Problem with xpress music 5310

    Hi folks,
got my phone 18 months ago, it's just died. Luckily my contract was just  up so I have a new E71. My problem is it just decided it wasn't going to charge up. It won't charge up and everything has been saved on the phone memory so I've lost all my data. I'd sync it if it came to life but it won't. I think something may have got into where you put the jack in for the charger. Any advice will be greatly recieved.
    Cheers.
               marts.

If you know someone with a phone that uses the same battery, you could
    1. Us their phone to charge your battery
    2. Use their battery in your phone.
A single charge should be more than enough for you to transfer the data across.

  • 5310 Xpress Music Not Supported by PC Suite 6.86??...

Phone: Unlocked 5310 Xpress Music Phone
    O.S.: Windows XP Media Center 2005 w/SP2
    PC Suite Version: 6.86
    Connectivity: USB Cable
    Problem:
Installed PC Suite software, cable drivers, connectivity established to phone. PC Suite however, though it confirms USB connection to phone, and identifies phone in graphic on the dashboard, shows phone "grayed out" on properties page. When attempting to synchronize using PC Suite to enter a contact, am told "phone not supported -- install correct version of PC Suite".
Have placed 8 calls to Nokia Support to address issue.
    - At first was told PC Suite does not run on XP Media Center. Told them XP Media Center is built on XP Pro platform -- no basic difference there.
    - Went to a different system running XP Home Edition and installed PC Suite and had exact same issues occur.
    - Nokia said must be firewall/security program conflicts -- that their developers can't create a software package compatible with all security software structures. Told them was running Trend Micro...a widely used security program. Was sure their developers would have at least accommodated for the most common security engines customers use to protect their systems so Nokia could avoid numerous troubleshooting calls about this kind of problem. I'm not running some off-brand, 3rd party, unknown security application.
    - Nokia then said to turn off all firewall and security protections during a clean PC Suite install. Did that...same situation.
    - Nokia said find 3rd party software to accomplish what PC Suite does but they can't provide guidance on what to use. Said look into forum. No answers there.
    - After further installation and sync attempts, Nokia said I must have a faulty phone. Returned it.
    - Just received new 5310 and am having exact same issues.
I just want to be able to enter my contacts into my phone's memory via my computer so I don't have to manually enter all of them by hunting and pecking using ABC...GHI, etc. for every entry. I purchased a phone primarily to utilize the progressive technology available for this purpose, yet still find that, after paying for those features, I'm faced with having to use the same archaic method I had to use with my old phone when entering my contacts.
Any guidance out there? Or any suggestions on 3rd party software that will do this that would work with my computer system and 5310 phone? I still have time to return this phone to find something else that truly offers progress in this area. Thanks for any help you can give!

I appreciate you taking the time to point me in this direction. I did go to the page you directed me to to download v-7.0.7.0. I know everything was done correctly because I'm connecting and all aspects of my device manager confirms it.
Unfortunately I'm still hitting the same roadblock at synchronization. I contacted Nokia again and was told that in some instances, sometimes registry files in Windows Media Center may conflict with PC Suite -- I seem to be one of the lucky ones who is affected by this.
I've been instructed by Nokia to once again "borrow" access to a different computer running either XP Home Basic or XP Pro...or Vista to attempt to synchronize there. The problem, they tell me, is that I am unable to select the "Reinstall...SMS/MMS" option in the "Help" menu bar of the PC Suite dashboard (it's grayed out).
They're only other suggestion is that I consider downgrading my own operating system to the Home Edition or upgrade it to Vista (along with upgrading all kinds of software/hardware, etc.).
#1 I have no intention of downgrading anything, and
#2 I have no intention of upgrading to Vista -- too many associates have opted to try to downgrade their Vista systems because of problems they've encountered with the OS.
And with my luck even if I spent the money and ruined my system to do it, there is no guarantee it would work even then -- all for features on a phone I thought I had already paid good money for for the right to utilize.
So...I will once again be borrowing someone else's system to test the synchronization effort to see if it really has anything to do with Media Center OS registry conflicts...or not.
Seems to me this should be a pretty basic technology -- I know it's been around for awhile now, yet I would have problems with it.
Anyway...I do thank you deeply for taking time to try to help me get through this frustration. It's nice to know there are kind folks out there!

  • Removal of Pre-Loaded Songs on 5310 Xpress Music

    All,
Could anyone help me in removing the pre-loaded music files that come with the Nokia 5310 Xpress Music phone (and no doubt countless other handsets too).
I don't particuly like them and I can't seem to exclude them from playing when the music player just going through my tunes (that is when it's actually playing and not giving me the white screen of death).
Apologies if this has been posted else where, I did try and find another thread using the search function to no avail.
    PatriBoo

I found that I could delete the music that came with phone, if I deleted it in the album folder instead of the actual song, so just scroll through your album titles until you come to one you don't recognise, and you will be able to delete it easily on your phone.

  • 5310 Xpress Music - Delete Demo Games?

I want to delete the demo games on my 5310 Xpress Music but the delete option is greyed out and won't let you.
Is there a way to get rid of the demo games?
I want to install other games and clear up some space, and I have no need for these demo games...
    THANKS

5310 is Series40 so its in there somewher, i just can't remember if theres a specific application manager for it or you highlight the games then press left top soft-key and select uninstall. besides, if the games are pre-installed on the phone, then you may not be able to uninstall them anyway it might not let you as they may be protected files

  • Xpress Music Series & FLAC Support?

I would like to know if Nokia has considered making the Xpress Music Series support FLAC?
I personally own a 5310 and would love to see FLAC support for these phones as well as the other Xpress Music Series.
What are the possibilites here with this?
    THANKS

    @jjegan and Nokia
    1) FLAC is not an obscure format except on phones, because it is FREE and not licensed
    2) Licensed codecs increase the resale cost of phones as OEMs like Nokia have to cover licensing costs
    3) Perceptual codecs like AAC+ are not perfect. They are ideal for filesize and for the majority of the populous who do not own high-end hifi systems to know what quality of sound is achievable with the right components and DAC chips
    4) FLAC is very lightweight processing-wise and easy to implement (small code footprint). It is a mathematically optimized lossless compression of WAV audio and as such, the ideal format that home users who don't trade on quality wish to archive their CDs in. MP3 is lossy and people with suitable systems can hear those losses. Those asking for FLAC on a phone will probably not be using the standard supplied headphones, but high-end after-market ones such as Etymotic ER-4P, which offer studio quality sound.
The only drawback to FLAC is the larger file size. But those seriously in to music are limited by the inbuilt memory or flash-card memory sizes provided with phones at initial point of sale, such that they opt to purchase 32Gb or larger memory cards to install in such phones and thus the storage footprint of FLAC files becomes a non-issue - these people prefer quality over convenience and business-driven culture that aims to tailor a corporate device and tell the consumer market it wants it, rather than listen to the market and provide what is being requested. In this case, there is a huge base asking for FLAC that is persistently ignored. In high-end audio, companies such as Linn, Naim and professional studio companies like Bryston are supplying FLAC compatibility with their DACs (digital to anlaog convertors) because the demand exists for the discerning audio customer. These persons are also the market for FLAC on phones. FLAC is here to stay and it is high-end and it is free. Companies just need to wake up and smell the coffee of demand that exists for it. Demand does exist and it isn't going away and Nokia also have to wake up to this fact.
Perceptual codecs like AAC+ fool the majority of users in to being unable to hear a difference. However, there is a growing body of research to suggest artefacts from such codecs which are hidden in louder music passages (an effect known as "perceptual masking"), may in fact be heard by many people who find the sound 'grating' and annoying. These people also are likely to demand FLAC.
Trying to pass of AAC+ to people demanding FLAC is like trying to pass off a quick-fry steak and telling people it tastes just like fillet steak. It doesn't, fillet is the best steak (IMO). And similarly, FLAC is the best, cheapest and easiest to implement format for lossless encoding of WAV files and Nokia cannot be bothered because the majority of non-discerning convenience-cultured quality-sacrificing others keep telling people to accept a lesser quality.
I for one, don't compromise. If it's between Sony Ericsson with a FLAC phone and Nokia without one, I will opt for the Sony - any compromise will be made by moving away from the company refusing to listen to customer demand or acknowledge a ready-and-waiting customer market.
And @jjegan, a chip already exists for the mobile market that will decode FLAC as well as MP3s, AAC and a whole myriad of other formats like Ogg Vorbis. It does NOT increase the size of the resultant phone. Go over to www.diyaudio.com and you can find many people who have modified devices to play FLAC without increasing size.

  • Problem with Nokia 5800 Xpress Music

Hello. I have a Nokia 5800 Xpress Music for about a year now and been taking great care of it. I don't know why but a while ago it started freezing at times when i would try to turn on the camera..had to multiple times restart the phone and remove the battery in order to make it work (In the open applications menu it would show the camera running but you wouldn't be able to use it). Then i noticed that the two touch buttons it has in the main screen (dialing and phonebook shortcuts) wont work either, no matter how many times i press them nothing happens. Same goes for the Green and Red button on the left and the right side of the phone (Accept/Decline buttons), they won't work either when i'm on the main screen (wallpaper), they do work in the main menu though. I tried resetting my phone to manufacturer settings but nothing happened. What is wrong with my phone? Can anybody help me with it very please?

    @guilty_gr
    Welcome to the forum!
When you say restored "factory settings" I don't know whether you mean that you backed up essential data then keyed in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by yourself); I would remove any memory card first and see if any difference before restoring device.
Happy to have helped forum with a Support Ratio = 42.5

  • Help please with access code to get into restrictions to delete apps.

I have an iPad 2. I recently upgraded to 7.0.4.  The new system requires me to go to settings/general/restrictions to delete any apps I do not wish to keep.  This worked fine at first, after the first system upgrade to 7.0. After the last update, 7.0.4,  I find that when I go to restrictions it pops up and asks me for an access code. I only have one access code that I have ever used.  It will not open with this passcode.  He has locked me out 18 times and requires me to wait an hour to try again.  My usual passcode works on everything else!  I have tried to reset passcode, it does the same thing.  I have searched and searched and the answers I'm finding are pretty drastic (like backup and reset everything...yikes!). What am I missing here?

Follow the instructions in  iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 to restore the device to factory settings.
Once you have setup the device as a new one, you can then sync it back with your iTunes account and all your music, apps, contacts and any other content sync'ed with iTunes will be loaded on the device. Any content that is stored only on the device and not sync'ed with iTunes, like app logins or data, will be lost during this process. Be forewarned that this is a long process and can take a couple of hours or more to complete. This can be painful, but it is necessarily so to prevent users from working around the security settings. After the restore is complete, you can setup a new Restrictions passcode. Make a note of the passcode to avoid this situation in future.

  • Display problem in 5800 xpress music

I had purchased a 5800 xpress music in April 2010.  For the last two months there is some problems in the display.  Sometimes, the display is gone and only lines are seen, when the key pad lock on.  This pevails for long time.  Due to this, I am unable to make any call or identify the incoming call.  Any solution?

What version of Firmware ? Check for any updates thru' the OVI Suite..
If that doesn't solve the issue, you may try the Soft Reset by dialing    *#7370#     followed by 12345 (Default security code) when prompted. If you have set your own code, enter that instead... Note that the Soft Reset will erase all data from the phone, so back-up your data before doing that...

  • 5800 Xpress Music - Supporting software install fa...

    Hello,
I'm using Windows XP SP3 and the latest version of PC Suite downloaded on Nokia website. My phone is a 5800 Xpress Music and I did upload the firmware yesterday.
I'm running into trouble to connect my phone to the PC and transfer data (any kind). I made a clean install of the latest version of PC Suite, then connected my phone to one of the USB ports of my PC and selected "PC Suite" on the phone when asked for connectivity type. Windows recognized the device and installed drivers successfully. When I started PC Suite, it recognized the phone too, but it said that it needed to install some "connectivity supporting software" or something like that. There was also a message saying that I should accept every request appearing on the phone. However, after a few seconds, the installation window said "Failed to install supporting software" without any further explanation. There was absolutely nothing appearing on the screen of the phone. I've tried to install the supporting software again by right-clicking on the phone icon, selecting options and chosing the appropriate action, but the installation keeps failing.
Therefore, I cannot sync any data between my PC and the phone. Also, if I start Nokia Music and choose  "multimedia transfer" connectivity mode, the phone appears in the interface, but when I try to drag and drop any song on the phone icon, the transfer immediately fails.
Please tell me what I should do next (I already uninstalled and re-installed the whole Nokia PC software suite twice, which is quite boring and time consuming)
    Thank you for your help.

Hi there. Unexpectedly things started working better (but not yet perfect).
I HAD been trying updating the drivers related to the phone yesterday, to no effect. But after giving up and disconnecting the phone I saw a disabled/broken device driver in the device manager tree (under portable devices) and deleted it. Then today I attached the phone by bluetooth and saw NOS start up and say that it HAD installed the supporting software!
In the System event queue there are a few messages about drivers being installed:

Photos, music and messaging seems to have synchronized nicely. Contacts have synchronized with Outlook, but the Calendar is failing to synchronize. After a Sync All I'm getting the message:
"Sync cancelled//Completed syncing the following content types: Contacts and Photos and Messaging.//Failed to sync the following content types: Calendar and Notes.//Reconnect the USB cable to your device or connect vis Bluetooth. Then try syncing again."
I get a similar message syncing calendar alone, with the error code 80043bd4 attached.
Same results if I'm using USB or Bluetooth.
Got reckless and upgraded to Ovi Maps 3.0, which proceeded cleanly.
So partly solved, but calendar (important for me) still not syncing.
    cheers...
