XpressMusic 5610 vs XpressMusic 5220 - battery li...

Hi, a few months ago I bought the 5220 and was/am impressed by the battery life. Just because a test model was sold for a reasonable price on a shop, I bougth the 5610 model. I didn't take it into use at once, but charged the battery and left the mobile off (since I didn't put my sim in it, I didn't see the reason to leave the mobile on.) After 4 days I turned it on, and was surprised to see that half the battery was eaten - according to the battery indicator. I thought this was a bad sign, as I experience the 5220 really has a very long standby time.
So the last couple of days I have done a couple of tests on the 5610 model, playing music to see whether the battery is ok or not. The advertisement tells that it is up to 22 hours of mp3 playback. My result: If I played the music on volume 3 (average volume, and of course I played it through the headset)  the battery lasted for approximately 14 hours. (I was not around exactly the time when the battery flatted out but it is around that time + - half an hour.) Then I recharged the battery and did the same test but with the lowest volume. Then it lasted for 15 hours. Not too bad considering I thought there was something really wrong with the battery usage when the phone was completely shut off for four days.. but it is not 22  hours as advertisement says.
Before using the phone I charged the battery, then let it totally uncharge before charging it again. And let it totally uncharge again, charging etc. (which came naturally as of these tests I have performed.)
And for information I didn't have the bluetooth on as I know the bluetooth can be a real battery eater. (I don't even have a sim-card in the phone yet.)
Also worth mentioning that I upgraded to the last firmware version.
Having searched around on the internet - and here on this board - I have seen so many different claims that I am not sure whether my battery is just the way it should be or whether I have got a slightly dysfunctional battery?
I would like it if some of you who has - or have had - 5610, could tell me whether you tested your 6510's battery life in some similar way that I did and what the result was? 22 hours or 15 hours like my test showed? I would like to know whether the advertisement lies, or whether I should use my right to claim a new battery from the shop where I bought it.
Thanks in advance.

As the title states, is it possible? The pink light I'm reffering to is the light around the navigationbuttons. I got this phone as a birthdaygift, but I don't like the pink light. So, anyone know?

    Lights
To activate or deactivate light effects associated with
different phone functions, select Menu > Settings >Lights
    source owners manual

i looked your phone up prior to trying to help you so i know how it looks like, i am just not familiar with specific menu navigation in order to get to those lights.
i also attached a user guide link perhaps you will find it there. sorry i can't be of more help and yes the light is called 'breathing' it basically lets u know that the phone is still working and also let's you know when you miss a call or have a message by speeding up (or at least that is the case in other phones that have this function) i hope that you will find an answser to your question.

  • 5220 battery

Here I concern myself with the longer battery life. I've posted 2 subtopics:
    1 - Original battery.
    2 - Music player\active standby.
    1) In the box came the battery with original Nokia logo BL-4TC instead of Bl-5TC,the last declared on the site. I live in Israel.
Q.1 Is it possible to switch the incompatible battery through the reseller?
    2) After playing music and exiting the player by pressing "end key" twice(1st - 2 go 2 the main screen, 2nd - to stop playing an audio track on the background) when I check Menu=> Media I find the Music Player icon with a green arrow on it as if it's still active.
Q.2 Does one turn off the Music player by hitting end key twice?
Q.3 How can I adjust the brightness of the screen e.g. low visibility on sunny days?
Message Edited by happysphinx on 01-Sep-2008 01:31 AM
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi happysphinx,
Q1) The phone must carry a BL-5TC as stated on the Nokia product page. You must demand an exchange through your phone seller.
Q2) No. Not actually. But holding the end key for a few seconds will close the music player.
Q3) I always remember that thing when I first got my 5300. I was posting on these boards, emailing Nokia about this.
But still, adjusting the brightness on the screen is still not doable. I think it has got something to do with some consumers laws.
    Hope this helps
    Kind regards

  • Opera Mini problem with E72

    Hi all..
This is my first post here.
I can't use Opera mini web browser at all! It loads and finally throws up the following error:
"Failed to connect to the Internet."
It's frustrating coz I was (am) able to use Opera mini without any glitch on N73..
    Thanks,
    Cheers!
    Nokia 1108, Nokia 2626, SE k750i, XpressMusic 5220, N73 Music edition, E72.

    hi every one,
I have the same issue too, both  with opera mini and opera 10. Not able to connect using wifi connects.
I have already updated the nokia software to 051.18
what I think the main issue is related with  JAVA. As I am also not able to connect / use other JAVA related applications as well on my set.  Like ebuddy, nokia chat and mobi cast (cricinfo mobile application ).
The error msg when I try to connect with ebuddy: "Your internet settings must be activated for JAVA APPLICATION or try again later". This is the default error msg which comes again n again every time.
    I did chk the java setting --->  Menu --> Internet ----> Web --->   Options ---> Settings ----> General ---->
Is there a solution for this? Can some one help me to sort out this issue? Please.
    all the best,
    junaid

  • Any comments on the february adobe update?

has anyone used the adobe update released in february for their macbook pro?

Yup.. Quite aware of that! But the frustration is killing!!

  • Typing response time

This may be a common problem but I've notice that the keyboard to very slow to respond to the key strokes. There is quite a delay in the character note and it does not pick up on spelling errors. The problem is intermittent but significant.

Yes.. I have been facing this problem, too. The last firmware release was a joke, to be honest! Hope there's another reease soon... I have to restart the phone atleast twice, of late.. Keeps hanging most of the times even after doing a factory reset!
And the analog clock disappears all of a sudden!
    It's a mental torture, must I say!

  • Any news on the next firmware update for E72?

Currently version: 031.023 - this is by far the worst update on any of the Nokia phones I have seen! Sick and tired of the phone hanging and having to restart at least 2 times on a given day.
So, any idea when there's goanna be an update? OR Is there going to be an update or not, now that Symbian is more or less dead?!!
Things I have tried: Hard reset, using the phone without the memory card, without any apps - none of this has helped!
Phone hangs all of a sudden.
Typical way to know when the phone's gonna hang next is the disappearance of the clock!
This is driving me nuts. Paid so much money for this shi**y phone. Hardware specs are great, but if you aren't able to use them properly, what's the effin' point, really?
Give me a STABLE software update (Nokia) and I'll be the happiest guy for another year without any thoughts of changing my phone!
I am already considering on buying a phone which can do its job efficiently without having to restart the damn phone a million times!
    Cheers!

  • 5610 XpressMusic Can't Change Right Selection Key

Hey, recently, i got a new phone, it is Nokia 5610 XpressMusic.
But i had a problem with it.
The problem is that when i was trying to change the shortcut, Right Selection key, it won't work.
I see the Left Selection Key, Navigation Keys, and Active Standby Key. I see those 3, just not RIght Selection Key.
Can anyone help me fix this problem?
    Thanks.

Every person I have talked to at Nokia says that Tmobile has had the phone programing customized. And there is nothing that can be done to change the key.
Everyone at Tmobile said thatit was a phone programming issue, and that Nokia would have to make the changes.
Person at Nokia said that Tmobile would have to send
an Update to the phone to change the programming.
Tmobile operator said, "It can't be done."
Her phone is like that also. The right selection key
is Locked out because Tmobile want's it that way.
No one has a choice in the matter.
I put my phone back in the box and shelved it till I can
    get over it..
I will continue to use my older phone...(which Nokia didn't provide a "ring" for.... Only jiggy music [6133] and won't allow an mp3 "electronic ring" because apparently "ring ring" is copyrighted.
No right selection key programming is allowed... Nokia
and Tmobile don't seem to care what we want.

  • 5220 Xpressmusic voice recognition.

    Hello. Newbie here.
The wife has a  Nokia 5220 Xpressmusic phone. Her new car plays music from the 5220 phone via the Bluetooth connection. Very impressed with the sound quality but she still needs to go into the phone music folder to select what track of music folder she wants, not a good idea to have to press lots of buttons when driving. What we would like to do is to use voice recognition so she can go to the song or music folder she wants to play using voice recognition. I did ask the Nokia help e-mail and they have replied that the phone does not have the facility that we want and advised that there is third part software that could do it. Has anyone any idea where I can find this software. I have done a “Google” but am unsure if what is on offer is OK and will do what we want. Any ideas or suggestions gratefully received.
    Many thanks, Don Kennedy.

  • Nokia 5220 XpressMusic Media Player

    Hi all,
I have a 5220 XpressMusic phone. It plays MP3, and WMV (sound only, not video), and only 3gp for video. What other file types does it support? Can any other player help me with this, and if yes, where can I get it from?
I really think it was a BAD decision to buy such a model! If you are thinking about buying it, think TWICE! It looks slim and nice, but it really has such poor video quality, and other missing must-have features.

its not possible to change or add music player themes
    on this device
