XR11 voice remote no longer turns CC on/off

My XR11 voice remote generally works great. Even when I speak, "Turn on (or off) close captioning", it recognizes the phrase perfectly (as displayed on my TV screen). At some point within the past few weeks, however, close captioning fails (nothing happens) and I must turn it on/off with button pushing (down, right, right, Ok, etc.). Why does the XR11 no longer work for CC? FWIW ... in case this was caused by a recent firmware update to my DVR, my Comcast profile indicates that it's a PX013ANM device. Settings/About indicates the following:

If I recall, a couple of the new Comcasters (possibly Nick and TomDJ) said they were looking into this. TomDJ said he was on the voice remote team so the right people know about it.

I was running Lion but it would allow me to run my Tascam FW-1884. I need to switch back to 32bit on Logic to enable new plugins on my UAD-2 Card. My Question is was the 32bit to 64 bit switch available in version 10.6 or was it introduced in 10.68?

One clue: I have found a reliable way to solve the problem when it happens.
In my network, I have the main Airport Extreme (Gen 1) which is connected to my router, which distributes IP addresses to my internal subnet. The other two AEs (one Gen 4, one Gen 5) are set to extend the network.
When I get this problem with an AppleTV 2 that can "see" my library, but when I try to open it, it says it couldn't find the library, it seems to have to do with a change in which Airport Extreme it's talking to.
If I restart the main Airport Extreme from the Airport Utility, effectively restarting the entire wireless network, then when the network resumes, every AppleTV 2 is happy again.
Unfortuntely, the problem does seem to recur - but I'm wondering if it's because temporary interference leads an AppleTV 2 to try to connect to a different AE, and somehow that's mucking with the Home Sharing. Remember, internet access (Trailers, Store, Netflix) have no issues. Purely Home Sharing.

For some unknown reason my app for Remote no longer works. It says it cannot find my itunes. I have tried to remove it and signed out and back in all that jazz but it didnt help. Anyone else have a solution for this? Thx.

I believe that when you reset your ipod(command given from the computer, right?) touch WHILE the ipod was updating, It cleared the system in the middle of writing files, thus corrupting(equivalent of cutting of in the middle of a sentence) the basic running system.
I suggest you go to an apple store and ask for a technical diagonosis in person. they may offer to help if the problem is fixable. If your ipod is still under warrenty, i would guess it would be free/low cost.

i have Fixed the problem, Had to go into dictation and speech preferences and actually shut the dictation microphone off. Once that was done I turned it back on and it automatically began to download new software for the microphone. Once that was done I re-booted my computer and it is now working beautifully.

I created a custom USB Yosemite installer using the 'createinstallmedia' binary inside the Yosemite installer.
Booted iMac with this USB installer and proceeded to install Yosemite (fresh formatted drive). No problems.
When I log in however, and check the Sharing PreferencePane, both Screen Sharing and Remote Login are turned on.
I've tried this multiple times (repartitioning the drive each time and I have created the installer media twice).
I'm posting this I guess more as a report as the solution is simple enough (uncheck these services).
But it's definitely a security risk.

Just 2 minutes before I received your reply I solved the problem. I have been running a software firewall (DoorStop X) on the Mac Pro. It turns out that I had not allowed traffic over two ports necessary for Home Sharing– port 3689 and udp port 5353. When I corrected this everything is back to normal.
I did the clean install because I've been having intermittent problems with several apps including Compressor, Safari, and to a lesser extent FCP. I've been contemplating doing this for several months because of all the garbage that has collected on my system over several years since I last started from scratch. I have a bad habit of installing things that add kext files and otherwise modify the OS. I decided to get rid of all that stuff. I'm glad I did. All the problems I was having seem to have resolved. Safari runs 3x faster than it ever has. And I no longer have the headaches that Compressor was giving me. I think I'll take better care of my system from now on.

X1 Voice Remote - Voice part doesn't work well

So I just got the X1 Voice Remote yesterday (7/30/15). Beautiful remote btw. It comes with a setup guide which I followed word for word (that's important for people to understand, I literally did the setup instructions to the letter) .... the remote works great....except the voice command part of it, you know the whole main feature of the remote -- doesn't work with much reliability. At initial setup voice commands worked perfectly for a good 20 minutes..... then it stopped working. In frustration I powered off my entire X1 cable box...waited a minute or two and powered it back on. The voice commands worked again until I went to bed. This morning before I went to work voice command worked (I only gave one command this morning). Tonight I'm trying it out again...voice command is not working again. During this whole time it should be noted -- ALL other aspects of the remote works perfectly....plus it controls my tv on/off and volume perfectly as well as that for my receiver. The only thing that seems sketchy is the voice feature.....To be honest the voice command is more a gimmick feature to me than anything...but it does annoy me that its not working. I mean the thing is BRAND NEW.

I must admit, it has been quite a while since I have tried voice command on my XR11. I tried saying channel names vs. channel numbers and it worked just fine. With most channels but not all.
However, it occured to me the mic in the XR11 could be responding to background noise including the TVs (or audio systems) own volume level.
Maybe you could pay attention to the sound levels in the background and see what happens...

3 remotes no longer working - is it the old TV

My TV is about 10 - 12 years old (I guess it's a tube TV - it's not a plasma or LCD). My FiOS remotes have worked flawlessly, but now they only work intermittently, or only some remote control functions work.
For example, sometimes the Mute control wil work, sometimes not. For the past couple days, I cannot switch the TV Input choice to watch DVDs. I can no longer turn the TV set on using the remote.
I replaced battery remotes; cleaned the surfaces of the TV set; and tried three different FiOS remote devices.
Is the problem possibly a component on my TV, such as a sensor?

Since you tried 3 remotes, that's exactly what it is. Your ir sensor on the tv is failing.

My iPod shuffle will no longer turn on with switch.

My ipod shuffle 3rd generation, will no longer activate by the off on swotch. I have to plus into electrical outlet to get it to turn on to select what I want to hear. It no longer turns off after playing selection it continues to play until battery wears down. Seems the switch is flat, and can't be raised to be activated.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

IPod no longer turning on

My second gen. iPod nano is no longer turning on. I tried charging it, not only on my computer, but also I plugged it into a wall charger. I even tried reseting it, by using the menu and middle button thing, and nothing is happening. I tried pressing the play button, and making a song play, and scrolling the wheel to make the volume at max, in case its just the screen thats not working, and nothing. No sound. My headphones work, because I tried them on a friends iPod. Is it time to just replace it, and get a new one, or is there still a way to fix it?

Did you try to charge it using the adapter or your computer?
If you can, let it charge for about 15min, then connect in recovery mode, described in this article:

My iPod will no longer turn on after I fully charged it. HELP!

I knew I should have never trusted Apple with personal files. I put all of my pictures from my digital camera (1,800 of them) on the ipod for "safe" keeping. Now my ipod will no longer turn on. I fully charged the ipod until the "charged" icon appeared. Then I disconnected it. A couple hours later I tried to turn it on and it no longer turns on. I've had this iPod for about 6 months and I'm pretty sure it's not a dead battery. It's been very good with me. The hold switch is NOT activated. I went through all of the common sense troubleshooting steps. I tried to reset the ipod. I tried recharging it on AC power. I tried reconnecting it via USB on computer. I tried the updater, which doesn't work b/c ipod won't turn on. I've also tried hitting it...jk. I also have 10,330 songs on here. This is my life on my ipod. I can't afford to lose this info. 60GB gone. Is there anything else I can do to fix this? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks
