Xscreensaver-command -lock suddenly doesnt work

the above gives this message
xscreensaver-command: no screensaver is running on display :0.0
it was ok yesterday ..
this didnt work:
$ xhost +localhost
$ xscreensaver-command -exit

Doesn't seem like the deamon is running no...
Put "xscreensaver -no-splash &" in ~/.xinitrc (before you start the wm) or in some other file that your wm uses for autostarting of apps.

[SOLVED] Xscreensaver-command -lock no longer working

As of yesterday afternoon (probably after the upgrade to 5.13-1), I have been unable to lock my monitor using xscreensaver. The screen fades to black, only to jump back to my desktop, and xscreensaver reporting a crash. I honestly can't see a reason from the log file, but I have little experience with programs like this. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could either confirm/let me know it's a bug that has no workaround, and I'll gladly report the bug.
Things I've tried:
Re-installing 5.13-1 (no change)
Restart of system & xscreensaver (no change in either case)
Downgrade to 5.12-2 (which works, as it did before)

Edit: For now, I've downgraded as well. I need this to work for security reasons.

Canon Scan to Folder (Server 2008 R2) suddenly doesnt work
We have a few Canon Multi Functionals who have been able to Scan to Folder to our Server 2008 R2 File Server.
Since last Windows Updates(13 sep 2012) it doesnt work anymore...
Nothing has changed to the folders or shares. Shares are like:
\\fs01\scans\IT
Shared folder is \\fs01\scans
Share permissions are Full for Everyone
On the folder IT, only the IT department and the Canon Scan user have full conrol...
When I turn off the Windows Firewall on the FS01, it works.
Then i get a SMB = OK on the Multi Functional.
When I turn on the WIndows Firewall, i get a SMB = NG on the multifuntional
I checked the rules, and everthing concerning File and Printer Sharing is allowed...
Can anyone please think what to do?
Because really don't want to go on with the Windows Firewall Disabled.
The Endpoint Protection 2010 Anti Virus is installed on the FS01, but since disabling the Windows Firewall works, i don't think the Anti Virus has anything to do with it.
Update: I just tried it to two other Servers 2008 R2 (with also the Windows Firewall on) and it works! So there is something wrong with that one Server... But as far as I can see, the firewall has all File and Printer Sharing things open...
And when i log on with the Canon Scan user on a PC i can browse to them locations just fine. I also reset the firewall setting to default and reopened the printers and sharing settings

The canon surelly do a check on another port that is not allowed in your firewall.
Run a wireshark on that server. Filter ip.src == ip of a canon.
Check on what port the canon talk to your server and open it.
Last option, does your printer are in another vlan/lan ? Maybe a firewall rule that does not see the printer in your local lan. Thus the rule might block it now.

Try the instruction here the best you can. WHen it says place the iPod in recovery mode use this program.

Is it the Home button that doesn't work, or the Power (Sleep/Wake) button? If the Power button works, you can switch it off. Not sure how you have been able to do anything without the Home button working?

You can't. You'll have to wait until the battery runs out and then recharge the phone. It will restart.

Unless somebody else has a micracle workaround I don't know. Probably get the phone in for repair since it has been living on borrowed time so far and now you absolutely must have a working button.

Apple doesn't sell insurance. Talk to your insurance company. The warranty does not cover accidental damage or abuse.
If you purchased AppleCare+, you can get up to 2 discounted (US$49) replacements over the course of 2 years for user inflicted damage. Sounds like that's not what you have.
As I said, talk to your insurance company.

The iPhone has NEVER had an international warranty. Warranty is ONLY valid in the country of purchase. You will need to bring your phone to Panama for service from Apple.

[Solved] xscreensaver-command -lock not functioning

I've installed the xscreensaver-arch-logo package from the AUR and followed the wiki to get it up and running, although it returns this error
no screensaver running on display:0.0
Now I have included
xscreensaver -no-splash &
in my .xinitrc, which is where I start openbox. When I enter this command manually and then run the -lock command it works fine. So obviously its not being run from .xinitrc.. I have tried other variations
/usr/bin/xscreensaver -no-splash &
exec xscreensaver -no-splash &
neither work... I'm running the command after I run the exec command for openbox, if that makes any difference..
Anybody have any idea what is up?

OK... it is not running. That is showing you your grep command looking for it. Nothing is wrong with the package, but with the method you're using to start it.
Try this:
1)
% cp /etc/xdg/autostart/xscreensaver.desktop ~/.config/autostart
2) Logout and log back in.
3) Post the output of
ps aux | grep xscrensaver
I thought files in /etc/xdg/autostart are started by all users anyway?
