Xserve and keyboard

Hi everybody,
I have an Xserve with and USB keyboard and mouse. I have tried even restarting and shutting down with booting again but i get allways the same. No keyboard and no mouse working. I am new with it and i dont know if there is something i must activate. I have tried to change the mouse, the keyboard and the port but nothing.
Help me please!!!
Thanks.

martinfe,
There's also a checkbox in the Security preference pane of System Preferences to "disable mouse and keyboard when Xserve enclosure lock is engaged" that you can uncheck.
It's a "good thing" to leave the enclosure lock in the locked position so that your disk drives don't pop out if they are bumped.

    You cannot download the upgrade to Snow Leopard.
    Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
    You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
    You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
    After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
    If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
    You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
    To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
           Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
             7. Xserve (Early 2009)

  • Problem with xfce and/or mouse and keyboard

    Hi!
    Two days ago I've turned on my laptop with Arch and the display manager Slim has frozen immediately. Later on Single-User mode I've uninstalled it. Now in normal mode when I type "startxfce4" everything is showing up, but the mouse and keyboard don't work. I know it's not frozen, because animation of mouse and CPU Frequency Monitor is on.
    Strange fact is that laptop is not connecting with the Internet, so now I don't know where the problem is.
    It's happening when I start xfce both from user and super user.
    Just before those troubles I've updated everything with "pacman -Syu", but I haven't seen anything strange. Also the computer could have been roughly turned off (by unplugging power supply), when was turning on.
    Thanks,
    Gaba

    Sorry for not replying, but I didn't have access to my laptop by this time.
    On grub I have only normal mode and 'fallback' mode, so I have result from 'journalctl' from normal mode.
    I'm sending the fragment of this file where you can see everything after I typed 'startxfce4' in console:
    http://codepad.org/8pYIj8qC
    I see that something is wrong, but after some attempts I don't know how to fix this ^^
    Edit:
    Oh, I forgot to write, that I've tried activate some drivers from 'lspci -k' (there were no "Kernel driver in use:..." in almost every device), but it didn't fi anything.

    Hi
    The screen on my notebook [HP PAVILION DV6T-7000 (A5F76AV)] does not have good vewing angles, it glares alot. Is it possible to upgrade the screen? I think it is a stantard HD type with 1366 x 768 px resolution, and I'm hoping to upgrade it to a WUXGA anti glare type screen with 1920 x 1200 or 1080  px resolution.
    I checked on hp'partsurfer and I guess this is what i'm looking for: ( 682068-001SPS-DSPLY HU 15.6 FHD AG ALU DSC )
    I'm currently in saudi arabia. Can you please tell me if the screen can be upgraded here?
    Apart from that the keyboard does not have a backlight. Can I upgrade the keyboard to a backlit keyboard?
    Thanks.

  • USB mouse and keyboard not working

    Any advice/thoughts/suggestions appreciated:
    All 3 USB ports at the back of my iMac have stopped working.  This means I can't use either a keyboard or mouse, so have no way of logging in.  I turn my iMac on, it boots up as usual, but when it gets to the login screen, the mouse and keyboard don't work and I get a message about bluetooth set-up. (Both my mouse and keyboard are wired, not bluetooth).
    I have tried an SMC reset (by turning the iMac off, unplugging all USB devices and the power cable, leaving the iMac for a few minutes and then plugging the cable back in a turning it on again).  This didn't work.
    I've also tried a different version of the SMC reset where I hold down the power button whilst all the cables are unplugged and also as I plug the power cable back in.  After doing this, the fan turns on at full speed (v loud), but the mouse and keyboard still don't work.
    I've also checked my mouse on a different computer and it works fine.
    Has anyone got any other suggestions / workarounds?
    Note I can't do a PRAM reset because my keyboard doesn't work.
    Is it probably that the USB hardwear has failed?  If so, is it possible to repair this?  It is worth repairing given it is a 5/6 year old iMac (the white plastic one) which is probably on its last legs anyway?
    many thanks!
    Jez.

    Try the SMC reset again, only this time wait 5 minutes in set 3 instead of fifteen seconds.
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Wait fifteen seconds. 5 minutes.
    4. Attach the computer's power cord.
    5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • USB mouse and keyboard don't work on HP Pavilion g7 2203sd, Windows 8.1.

    It is not possible to use a USB mouse or keyboard on the HP Pavilion g7 2203sd notebook running Windows 8.1.
    A wireless mouse used to work (already some time ago), but now wired or wireless mouse and keyboard don't work any more.
    I have tried removing USB devices in the Windows Device Manager and let Windows detect them again, but it does not work.
    I read somewhere that it might have to do with the xHCI USB controller that is installed.
    I tried removing that and connecting the USB mouse but no succes.
    I also looked for driver updates or something to disbale in the BIOS (like xHCI), but nothing found for that.
    Can anybody help me with this problem.
    Thanks!

  • Macbook Air Trackpad And Keyboard Unresponsive!! PLEASE HELP!

    Hello everyone, a while ago (about 2 months) my Macbook air started having troubles with its trackpack and keyboard. At random times they would become unresponsive and just stop working. They would work for like 1 second when the computer turns on but then it would stop. A couple weeks ago the problem stopped occuring the keyboard and trackpad were working fine and dandy. Of course until last night, I open the computer and the trackpad and keyboard won't work.. The keyboard lights are on and the power button works but nothing else does it is extremely frustrating! I did an SMC reset which worked for like 5 minutes until it stopped working again. I have done a NVRAM reset nothing, I have done everything that I have seen but I need a fix for this! The mac is running OS X 10.9.3 and I am pretty sure that is the latest. Please help me guys I am really getting frustrated with this undying problem ;/

I don't know how else to fix this issue. Please help I have tried all recovery options and erased everything on disk utility ( i saved my files first ) . for now i have been using an external mouse and keyboard. I also had the newest software update os x yosemite but when i re installed os x it installed lion but still the same problem.

    finally its fixed!! ...i went on the mac osx hints site...someone suggested resetting the pram and pmu...i was worried i wouldn't be able to hit the key combinations because of the whole keyboard thing...but apparently, my keyboard still worked until it got into os x...so i reset the pmu with shift-option-control-power while the computer was off...and voila...problem solved!!

  • Problem with rotation and keyboard click sound

    Ok, there's still a problem with the rotation and keyboard click sound and I thought I had the problem fixed.
    It's a serious bug when you want the keyboard click sound enbabled without having the rotation locked. I noticed this bug started when I had the previous iosinstalled 7.0.6.
    Everytime I wanted to enable the keyboard click sound, I have to always go to settings and have lock rotation checked. And it would stay locked.
    If I wanted to rotate my iPad, I have to have mute enabled, but no keyboard click sound.
    I know it sounds confusing. I'm already confused... beh.

    I completely forgot about that.
    Thank you!

  • Trackpad and Keyboard intermittent Freezing

    My trackpad and keyboard are freezing at random intervals for random spans of time (usually for a few seconds). I havent downloaded any recent software that has cause this to my knowledge. Any help would be wonderful because even typing this is frustrating.

    I just took delivery of a new MacBook a couple of days ago. When I started it up I let it restore all of my user files, applications, and everything from a Time Machine backup. That worked fine, but now Time Machine wants to perform the initial, lengthy backup on a new machine. I find that when that is running, the trackpad and keyboard both freeze and I can't do anything. Strangely, if I plug a Logitech travel mouse into one of the USB ports, that is able to drive the mouse cursor. The keyboard is still frozen until I turn the backup off though.
    I'm going to plug the MacBook directly into the Time Capsule to get the backup to go faster, but I still wonder: is there a way to reduce the priority of the Time Machine process so I can use the MacBook while the backup is running?

  • Macbook Pro trackpad and keyboard freezes after attempting sleep mode

    I bought this computer on April 2008. It has the latest OS X 10.5.6 and it did not accept the trackpad firmware. I tried to install and the software said "this computer does not need this update".
    This has been happening a lot when I am using Skype while talking to someone with video and sound. The computer tries to go on sleep mode because I am not typing or touching it - it thinks I am away because I am just talking and watching the person on the other side.
    I touch the computer to avoid getting on sleep mode and with that it freezes the trackpad and keyboard. I continue to listen and see the other person and they continue to see me and hear me, but I cannot move the "mouse" cursor on the screen or type anything. Neither can I force to quit anything. The only thing that works is to close the computer and open again, that forces the computer to go into sleep mode then I can make it wake up again by opening it and touching any key on the keyboard.
    This have been interrupting Skype calls and a study I am conduting. I have to keep touching the computer trackpad to not let it sleep ever. I am concerned is something with the battery or maybe it needs some kind of firmware.
    This is very recent, just started happening this week (March 2009). I have not added any new software or any hardware to the machine.
    What can I do to make the trackpad and keyboard stop freezing when the computer tries to sleep?

    this is in the wrong category. I added a new message to the right category: MacBook Pro but I don't know how to delete it from here.

  • Magic Mouse continually fails to left click, and keyboard problems

    Since my Yosemite 10.10.1 update, my mouse, and keyboard keep failing periodically. After a nights sleep, when I try to open a program, by left clicking, it will occasionally only right click. Being able to left click, is very crucial, even more then right clicking, especially when trying to enter a website into a url, or when selecting a bookmark. Anyway I will restart my computer, and when I then try to enter my password, certain keys will then fail, and respond wt a low ping. It usually requires at least 5 to 10 minutes of a complete shutdown, until the keyboard and mouse work again. I keep fearing that my keyboard will fail, while entering this message. It occurs so very randomly, but has been occurring more often as time goes by. I worried that it might occur, before I'm done typing this post. Does anyone have any idea, what the problem could be, and have any remedy reccommendations?

    Nubz,
    actually I'm still using a standard wired apple keyboard, wt the magic mouse, because the wire goes under my desk, and I was actually considering getting a trackpad. Still since my Yosemite upgrade, I'm having problem after problem, so I'm not sure I will even stay wt Mac. Honestly I've examined any and all solutions, in that support article, but none of them were relevant to my problem.
    I did check & repair my Yosemite Disk Permissions using Disk Utility, and although it found only a few things wrong, and none were related to my keyboard, or mouse (most were for my HP printer), repairs seemed to rectify the problem.

  • Design question ... Remote control and keyboard

    Hey i am building a system that should support remote control input and keyboard input
    the system is a addons based any user could build any addon he wishes
    i have now two main input events types
    KeyEventand
    RemoteControlEventi wish to use only one type of event
    i am thinking of 2 options.
    1) Map
    RemteControlEventto
    KeyEventif this why is the best what happens i a situation that i mapped J key to the RECORD button
    how a specific addon should know that a RECORD operation is pressed or it's just a J button
    2) Write a new events that contains
    KeyEventactions and
    RemteControlEventactions
    thanks allot

    thanks for your replay
    i am sharing my thoughts with you ,cause i relay want to do it the best way.
    when i mention remote control i meant using a TV/VCR/MCE Remote Control.
    (i am usingJLIRC ( LIRC ) )
    and i have decided .
    i will listen to all keyboard event using "dispatchKeyEvent"
    and will map Remote control keys to keyboard keys
    here is another question to make sure i understand fully .
    the application that i am writing is an add-on based
    every programmer that will like to create an add-on
    will extend the "Screen" object for is main panel (Screen exnteds JPanel)
    so i was thinking when dispatchKeyEvent called i should call dispatchKeyEvent in the current displayed screen
    (if the screen dispatchKeyEvent returns false.
    the main dispatchKeyEvent should continue.
    case true the main dispatchKeyEvent will return true)
    then in the screen implementation the user can ask if this key is an Spacial Key
    if yes he can get the spacial key attached to this keyboard key
    i just wrote an example of how it's suppose to be
    public MP3PLayer implemants Screen {
      public boolean dispatchKeyEvent(KeyEvent e){
        boolean isSpeacial = RemoteComtrolKey.getInstance().isSpeacialKey(e.getKeyCode);
        if(isSpeacial){
            int mappedKey = RemoteComtrolKey.getInstance().getSpeacialKey(e.getKeycode());
            if(mappedKey  == RemoteComtrolKey.REC){
              //do the record
               return true;
        return false;
    }georgemc thank you very much
