Xserve will not remember link ?

Dear All,
We are experiencing some strange behavior when dealing with Adobe Illustrator CS2 document on Xserve running Mac OS X 10.4.10 and 10.4.9
We build our artwork via Xserver. It seem that Adobe Illustrator CS2 will not "remember" or "see" the linked images if the file is open up on another workstation, it will eventually report missing link. Adobe Illustrator will only "remember" and "see" the linked images on the workstation that is used to build the artwork.
The strange things is that this problem will not happen on a Microsoft Windows based server running ExtremeZ-IP. Meaning that any Illustrator file created anywhere via the server will not have missing link when open up anywhere using any workstation.
Please help. Does it have anything to do with server access right or other server settings? The permission is set to Read & Wright. It should be alright.
Any thought is very appreciated.
Thanks and regards,
Jeno

Hi serverman-
Greetings and welcome to the Apple Discussion boards
Have you by any chance connected the APC via USB and then configured the setup via the System preferences?

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Launch the Terminal application by entering the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Copy or drag -- do not type -- the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
    ls -Oel Library/Safari

  • Firefox v3.6.8 will NOT remember passwords. I've doubled check the settings but it will not remember the passwords

New HP laptop, O/S XP-Pro, my previous computer with XP-Pro had no problem remembering passwords but this v of Firefox will not remember the PW's

Thanks Cor-el. It now works on some sites, but there are still some where it doesn't work. The problem appears to be with sites that have more than just the username and password to fill in. Firefox only saves the username and password but not the other fields. It then refuses to fill in any of the fields on the site.
For instance, my bank has four fields on the sign-in page - username, security code, password, and an odd one with a number between 1 and 4 in it. Firefox only saves the username and password and so can't fill in the other fields. Actually it refuses to fill in any of the fields. It seems to not recognise the page at all.
The only way I can see around the problem at the moment is to save any that Firefox will save and use RoboForm to save the others. It means having two programs to do one job. It's messy but at least it works and I can save all my usernames and passwords and have them fill in properly.
I don't know why it is that RoboForm will save the data but Firefox won't. It appears to be something to do with Firefox only saving two fields whereas RoboForm will save any number as required.

  • Firefox will not remember last window size

I am using Firefox 32.0.2 on a Windows 7 computer.
Starting yesterday when a new window opens it will not remember the window size. It always opens to a small window that takes up about 1/4 of the screen. It should remember the last window size used and open new windows to that size.
I have not changed anything on the computer since it last worked that I am aware of (it is a work computer so IT could have done something).
I have already done a reset and deleted and recreated localstore.rdf.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may have a corrupt '''localstore.rdf''' file.

  • WIndows 7 and Server2008 machines will not remember network discovery preferences, requires setting every start up or wake up.

    hello
I wondered if anybody here could be so kind as to help me solve this situation
i have two Windows 7 machines and Server2008 machines will not remember network discovery preferences,
i am running software on the windows server machine that collects data and serves information to two windows 7 machines, and network discovery is required for this purpose
these machines are configured in a local stand alone network configured as a workgroup the only other items on network are none PC based equipment that the server happily communicates with and reads data from
once the network discovery is set for the network the system runs as expected but on every start-up (or wake up) the network discovery is lost and need to be re allowed. this is the case in both windows server 20008 r2 and windows 7
how do i make these preferences permanent. so that it will restart and re establish communication its self without intervention
am i missing a setting or if not  is there a way i can script the the selection of preference on each start(/wake)up.
the final user need to be able to turn system on/restart and use it with out having to have any IT/networking knowledge to get system running.
thank you for taking the time to read my query

You can use group policy to enable network discovery so that it is always configured
    1. In the Group Policy editor on a Win7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 computer, open the GPO that you want
to use in the Group Policy Editor.
    2. Expand "Computer Configuration", "Windows Settings", "Security Settings", "Windows Firewall with Advanced
Security", and then "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security - {policy you have open}".
3 Right-click "Inbound Rules", and then click "New Rule".
4 In the Rule Wizard, on the Rule Type page, select"Predefined", and then select Network Discovery from
    the list.  Click Next.
5 On the Predefined Rules page, ensure that the check box is on each rule that is part of the Network
Discovery group, and then click Next.
6 On the Action page, select "Allow the Connection", and then click Finish.

  • Brower will not remember log-on even if asked to do so

I downloaded a program that clears all browsing history, which it did. Upon restart I found It still goes to the websites but all I get is a white screen with blue wording down left side.
I did some resetting in my Tools/privacy/history settings and ended up with " Always use 'Private setting mode' and "Never remember history". This setting now opens the web sites correctly
    BUT
It will not remember log-in status even within the same session. For example I log into my banking site fine, then choose to look at my account information and it asks me to log-in. Id and get the page.
I then want to pay a bill, it asks me to log-in ect, ect, ect,
Or I log-into my home page, It used to log-on automatically, choose to navigate to my e-mail program and again it asks for a log in. When finished I return to the home page and have to log in again.
    Can anybody help.?
    Thank you.

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

  • Firefox will not remember passwords even tho the box is checked and there are no exceptions listed. The little bar asking to save passwords doesn't even come up.

After an online session, Firefox (6.0.1) crashed and a crash report was sent. After that, Firefox would not start and the crash window kept coming up. I uninstalled it and did a new install. It works fine now except it will not remember passwords even tho the box to save is checked and there are no exceptions listed. The bar asking to save does not come up.

Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) [[Private Browsing]] mode.
    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Uncheck: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • New tab page will not remember any frequently visited sites

Before the update to 34.0.5, the new tab page worked fine. Now it will not remember any pages I go to. Dragging bookmarks over just opens the bookmark. Remember history is on.

    '''Found my own answer: '''
The update to Firefox version 34.0.5 changed the way zoom works for the New Tab page. My visited sites are being saved, but I have to zoom out several levels to see them. I have to do this ''every time ''I open the New Tab page.
To customize the default zoom for my tabs, I tried the NoSquint add-on first. It worked for every page except the New Tab page.
'''Google search for:''' firefox new tab page zoom add-on
'''Returned:''' Default FullZoom Level :: Add-ons for Firefox
Default FullZoom Level&rarr;User Reviews&rarr;'''Find On This Page search for:''' New Tab Page
'''Returned: '''"...this extension applies the selected default zoom in the preferences to the new tab page..." Firebird, ''a Firefox user''
The Default FullZoom Level add-on has resolved my issue.

  • Ipod touch will not remember wi-fi security code, how do I correct this issue?

My Touch will not remember the wireless security code.

I have been fighting this same issue where the iPod appears to not retain the security password to connect to the WI-FI when the iPod was shut down for a period of time.
In my case it appeared that my wireless router was not seeing the name of the iPod with the associated mac address. The IPod device name on the router was showing as "Unknown"
Verify the name and mac address (Wi-FI address) of your iPod via General/About
View the wireless status entry on your router to make sure there is an entry matching that of the iPod.
In my case the iPod mac address was there, with the incorrrect name  "Unknown"
My solution was to Reset the Network on the iPod and shut it down.
I then power cycled my router clearing the Wireless status entries.
Wait for the Wireless router to come back up.
Power the iPod back on let it find the preferred network and re-enter the security code.
This appears to have corrected the issue for me.

  • Firefox will not remember my e-mail log in

I had no problem with my e-mail until about a week ago. I made no changes before this. Now firefox will not remember my e-mail log in. I check the box (remember me) but it does no good. I went to tool (privacy) and went through the process to remember my log ins but nothing seems to help

Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
    * Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Private Browsing mode.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Private+Browsing
    * In [[Private Browsing]] mode all cookies are session cookies that expire if that session is ended, so websites won't remember you.
    * Do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

  • IPad will not remember my client card number for online banking since ios7 update

iPad will not remember my client card number for online banking since ios7 update

Generally speaking, your bank would use a cookie to store your card number (bad) or to associate your browser with its list of saved card numbers (less bad). If you have cookies cleared after each session, then you may be blocking this feature.
To check your cookie handling for your bank's site, when you are on the site, right-click the page and choose View Page Info, then Permissions. Under "Set Cookies" most likely the "Use Default" checkbox is checked. The actual setting will appear in gray.
If the actual setting is not Allow, then uncheck "Use Default" and check "Allow." This will take effect the next time you start Firefox or if you clear the site's cookies on the Security tab (View Cookies button) and then revisit the site.
If the actual setting already is Allow, then some other feature (e.g., clearing history when you exit) or program (e.g., a security suite) is clearing the cookie.

  • Firefox will not show links to flv files. I get the error message for each flv file: "File not found. Firefox can't find the file at (path) .flv." Any mov and swf files in this same path will show. I can see the videos in Safari so the paths are correct.

Firefox will not show links to flv files. I get the error message for each flv file: "File not found. Firefox can't find the file at http:// (path) .flv." Any mov and swf files in this same path will show. I can see the videos in Safari so the paths are correct.

Is this a webpage that contains a link to a flv file? Please post a link to the page and tell us which link(s) are the problem flv files or else post a link to the .flv file itself.
Alternately, click on one of the sample FLV File links on this page and tell us exactly what happens:
    http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/flash/video/tutorial/example-flv.html
It might also help if you post the exact error message, including the path to the flv file.
    '''Note:'''
Depending on how you have Firefox set up, clicking on a FLV File link will either save the FLV file to your computer or Firefox may open it automatically in an external application right after downloading (Firefox may ask you first). Firefox itself can't play FLV files so you need a "helper" application (or a plugin for flv files, if ther is one. You can see if Firefox is already set up to download or open FLV files by going to Firefox Preferences and looking in the Applications list. Find the FLV file type in the list and, if the action is "Open with", it should show the application that can play FLV files (e.g., VLC Media Player or Perian). See [[Managing filetypes]] for more information.

  • Mail will not remember account password LION

Just migrated to new Macbook Pro.  Apple Mail account is set up but it will not remember the password.  I have another account set up in Mail which is working fine.
    Ruzzer

After much frustration and googling, I ended up finding my own solution.
My situation came when I replaced my MAIL folder with another mail folder from another account.
At first the mail account acted normally, but the next day after starting the mac my mail kept asking for account passwords on ALL of my mail accounts (a mix of IMAP and POP3).
Here are the fixes I tried but didnt work
KeyChain Access = First Aid repair (did nothing and found no errors)
Deleted my Mail plist file (again nothing changed)
Triple checked my email account passwords (no change)
The one thing that I noticed was that most people where told to delete the Mail keychain password entry in keychain.  The thing is with my keychain there was NO MAIL KEYCHAIN.  I think this is the big problem.
To remedy this I tried the KeyChain Access FIRST AID REPAIR again, but this time I had a look at the Key chain log and found there was over 26,000 entried.  I figured they where only log files and just deleted all file. Restarted the mac and turned on mail, it will ask for password but this time it remembers the password!!!
Here is a step by step for you all:
WARNING: this will nuke all your stored keychains, be prepared to re enter any passwords or user names you may have stored.
    1. Open Keychain Access (Use spotlight and search "Keychain")
    2.  Go to Keychain prefs (Command + ,)
    3. In the GENERAL tab press the "Rest My Default Keychains" button
    4.  Enter your password (Press OK)
    5.  There will be an option to view log files, press this button
    6.  Select all files and delete them.
    7.  Restart your mac.
    8. Open mail, it will ask for your mail account password
    9.  enjoy the stress of email again!
I thought someone else my find this useful and save them some headaches.
