Xtra for sound output of director movie

Dear all,
I have developed a director movie 10 years ago, which mixes
various soundfiles into a continous sound which could be listened
to and which at that time was to be recorded by a tape recorder
connected to the computer.
Now I am asked how one could save the output of my director
movie into a soundfile; .wav, .aif or .mp3 - so that one is able to
bring it onto a CD-ROM.
Do you know an XTRA for that?
At the moment I am giving advice to use the "N°23
Recorder" - nicely working but a little too much trouble for my
customers. (Only one or two a month - which means I can't put too
much money and work into the old project.)
Any advice is welcome
Yours sincerely
Moritz Boerner

It's not clear what your source is, but in general the Audio
Xtra should
be able to record whatever you can hear.
Check the docs for: axRecordSoundToFile(),
axSetEnvironmentInfo("inputDevice", device),
axSetEnvironmentInfo("inputSource", source), etc.

  • System preferences in iMac for sound output shows only headphones. How do I change this to get sound through computer? Thanks.

In sound System preferences on iMac  headphones is only option for sound output. How do I change this to get sound output through computer, as in a video etc. Thanks.

There is a switch in the jack that may be stuck. Try plugging and unplugging a headset plug into the socket a few times.
You might try dipping the headset plug into some pure alcohol, wiping it nearly dry, and repeating the process to clean/clear the socket.

  • Can't change device for sound output

    Hi,
Hi I've a MBP 17 inch that is plugged in to an USB sound card.
I usually just switched between the USB sound card and the internal speakers through the day, but for some reason that isn't working for me anymore.
No matter what preference I pick from the Sound Preferes output devices list, the Mac plays its sound on whatever device it picked as default -- for example, if I boot it without the USB audio card plugged in, it plays on the internal speakers; if I reboot it with the USB plugged in, it plays sound to the USB card.
So the actually problem is in switching between the devices.
I couldn't link this to anything abnormal, just started out of nowhere.
Any ideas? Any preference files I can delete or re-setup?
From the Console application, this is what I get when I try to change devices:
2/2/10 8:05:25 AM System Preferences[477] Error who? trying to set sOut device to 262
    Thanks in advance.

I wasn't familiar with that app; I just tried it, and got the same problems.
It won't let me change the sound output.

  • Messages won't connect to bluetooth headset for sound output

I have a Plantronics Voyager Legend bluetooth headset that can pair with more than one device. I got it so I could switch back and forth from my phone to my MacBook Pro (running Mavericks) easily. It works great everywhere. EXCEPT, it won't work for Messages sound output. I've talked with three different Apple support people and with Plantronics. I tried a workaround I found elsewhere using Soundflower, but that did not work either. I've checked all settings, unpaired/repaired, shut down/rebooted/reset; looked for software issues; downloaded the current firmware; tried turning bluetooth off my phone to see if that was an issue; and probably some other things I'm forgetting; all to no avail.
    Any ideas?

    Following up on the above...
My S10-HD paired straight out of the box w/ my iPod Touch 2G; however, when I tried to pair it with my iPad 2, the iPad 2 would just search...and search...and search.
On page 7 of the S10-HD manual, you'll see a note saying, "To pair your headphones again, press and hold the "0" (power) key until the status light becomes steadily lit in blue".
This proved to be the key to getting the S10-HD to work with the iPad 2. The S10-HD needs to be "off", then you'll have to press and hold for around 7 to 10 seconds.
Furthermore, it appears (from my own testing; your results may differ) that the S10-HD can only be paired to one device at a time. That may sound obvious, but what it means is that you'll first have to turn off Bluetooth on the paired device with which the S10-HD is currently connected, then connect it to the other device with which it is already paired. (Kind of a pain, but I can live with it.)
Also, if there's anyone considering the S9-HD or who's had an S9-HD fail because of sweat incursion (i.e., you use it at the gym, etc.), Motorola is offering a warranty upgrade from the S9-HD to the S10-HD. What you need to know is: (1) The S9-HD will fail from the least bit of sweat entering the unit through the speakers; and (2) The S9-HD sounds better than the S10-HD (a lot better...it's a tradeoff you have to be willing to live with if you want these for exercise). To get the S10-HD if you've experienced prob's w/ your S9-HD as described, call Julie Scofield in the Consumer Advocacy Office at Motorola's Corporate Headquarters: (847) 523-5852.

  • Device for sound output changing randomly

After the latest OS update, I've been having issues with my sound output settings. My sound will play most the time through the "line out" setting, but then randomly the "sound effects" will play thru the internal speakers. I keep changing the setting in the "sound" panel of system prefs but it keeps changing randomly on me. I've saved the setting and rebooted and thought it would be fine, but it keeps doing it. Once my Sound Output setting were changed too, and my music just started playing thru the internal speaker.
Anyone know what's up with this, and what could correct the problem?

It may sound silly, but from my own experience (having had exactly the same problem while working on a soundtrack) after snooping around I found that the plug/cable I was using (a cheapo cable) was somehow the guilty party.
It fit snugly, no wobble, no crackling, changed the cable and all problems went away.
Same cable works 100% now used to hook up the iPhone to the mixer.
Seems to make no sense, and yet... voodoo (or a badly soldered plug).

  • IPhone4 Dock Connector Not Showing As Option For Sound Output

    Hey All,
I'm using an iPhone 4 Dock Connector to output sound (via 3.5 mm cable) to a stereo.  This has been working for over 5 months, but all of a sudden it doesn't show up as an option for output from the AirPlay button.
I tried a friend's 4S and it worked for him.  I also cleaned out the pin connector area on the iPhone as there was a small amount of lint in there (from being in my pocket), but that didn't fix the problem either.
    Any suggestions would be welcomed.
    Thanks!

  • MacBook Air: automatic selection of USB headsets for sound output

Is there a way to let the MacBook Air automatically detect an external USB headset,
and switch from internal speakers to the USB headset, and reverse to speakers when the
    USB headset is disconnected ?
It's nice that you can manually select the output in System Preferences / Sound,
but it would be nice also to be able to make the computer use the USB headset
    whenever it's plugged in.
Same for the microphone (sound input selection, for USB headsets with a microphone).

USB hub works fine on my 23 Cinema display with the Air, haven't tried the others but I use the USB on display to plug in my mobile broadband ( live out in the sticks and don't get cable or DSL ) and it lets me switch between my Air and MB Pro fine.

  • Managing multiple choise for sound output

    Hi
I am using external speakers for playing my music - either via direct plug in or via Airport Express.
I am using USB headset for Skype and iChat.
Today it is not possible for me to have my headset plugged in - ready to use
and at the same time listen to my music via my external speakers.
It is an either or - situation which is quite irritating
Is there any way to manage this in an easy way?

I purchased an inexpensive Bluetooth headset to use for Skype. I leave Skpye's preferences set in such a way that it defaults to my headset for both input and output. This allows me to use the internal speakers for audio.

  • HT1338 No internal speaker device for sound output

    HI,
I use a MacBook Pro and until today the sound worked fine. All of a suden the sound doesn't work, having checked the sound settings there is no option to select internal speakers the only available option is 'Optical digital out port'.
    Any sugestions?
    Thanks

Start your computer up in Safe Mode:

Same problem? If NO, then restart normally, and look at your Login Items list here:
     > System Preferences > Login Items
Something in there is messing with your system. Try removing anything that you remember adding recently and restarting again.
If you're not sure, just make a copy of the whole list by taking a screenshot: hold down 'shift-command-4 and press the spacebar to highlight the window, then clikc your mouse or trackpad; the shot is on your desktop.
Next, select all and hit the '-' minus key at the bottom of the window.
Restart and see if the problem is solved. If so, start adding things from the list back in one at a time till you find the culprit (you'll have to restart after adding each one to test that).

  • Solution for sound system problem (built-in speakers)?

I have my macbook pro since 2012 and I never had a problem. I was listening to music on youtube this morning when the sound started to be not clear. It's like my built in speakers are not built in anymore and are far away from my mac. It's quite annoying because it's the same issue with all the software (Itunes, Skype....) Some has clue and can help me. Thanks in advance.

    1. System Preference > Sound  > Output > Internal Speakers
Move the Volume slider a bit to right. If Mute is checked, uncheck it.
    2. Some sound settings are stored in PRAM. Reset PRAM.

    3. Reset SMC.

  • Mid-2009 13" MacBook Pro emits high-frequency noise when engaged for sound

Recently I noticed that when the MacBook Pro activates the sound output device for built-in speakers, a high-pitched whine or noise begins, and does not stop until the card deactivates again.
The sound is not proportional to brightness, hard drive activity, CPU load, or anything else I've been able to try, except for sound output. When I plug in headphones it cuts out when the sound transfers to the headphones (it's on the same slight delay that the sound change is on). This MBP leads a relatively tame life, although it does travel sometimes. I can't figure out what would have started this sound, but I noticed it start within the last month, and I have confirmed that others hear it in the same quiet environment as I hear it in.

Give it two or three more weeks to get below 80% and stay there, then take it to an Apple Store for testing. As long as it's still above 80%, it's going to be considered "within spec," so make sure it's below 80% when you take it in.

  • Help with sound output via HDMI

My sound output via HDMI suddenly stopped worked to my TV set. I've reset the PRAM and the SMC. When I go to sound control panel for sound output, the setting is on Headphones. When I try to change it to SV420XVT1A (the tv) it immediately jumps back to headphone. I also tried a different HDMI cable to a different HDMI port on the tv. This just started after the Mac Mini had been turned off for a week. I'm using Lion and it's an 8GB Intel Core 2 Duo. Any suggestions?

I actually discovered this answer about 5 minutes after I posted the question. Thanks a lot for your help!! Funny thing is that it had worked all along with something plugged in the headphone jack but suddenly stopped working. Again, thanks!

  • Weird sound output issue

    Hi everyone,
my main problem this time is that I hear no sound coming from the internal speaker of my G4 MDD 1.25 dual.
I have read some othe topics and I have trash the prefs and did the trick with the mini jack.
I have also install 10.4.11 over my old 10.4.11 using a combo update.
    No results at all.
In sound prefs "choose a device for sound output" I see only Headphones.
If I plug a mini jack on headphones then I see the Line Out option!
If I plug in headphones they work normally, except I see the Line out option and I can hear sound including the startup chime.
    Thank you!!

  • Can I prevent the headphone to take over the sound output?

When I plug in my Apple EarPods in iMac all alternatives of sound in- and output are overruled. I'm using skype, so I'd like my EarPods to be plugged in all the time, but if I do, the incomming call sound - as well as any other sound - is only audible through the EarPods. Isn't there a way to tell the computer to use both the headphones and the internal speakers for sound output, so I can choose to use the EarPods just for Skype calls?

That's what I feared. It didn't solve my problem, but I can stop searching now... thanks.

  • Sound output option is missing in preferences

I'm probably doing something stupid, but iChat works fine for "chatting" but when I want to talk it doesn't work. In the video tab of the iChat preferences the option "sound output" is missing, while I can select the internal microphone of my MacBook Pro... iTunes plays perfectly though the internal speaker though!
    any ideas?
    Wim

    Hi,
I am not sure what you are asking ?
If you only have internal speakers iChat will select them.
In Actually System preferences > Sound > Output tab selects them as the only option.
iChat only shows a Drop down for Sound output if you actually have a choice.
