Xtreme music headphones and speakers issue

I have a creative soundblaster xtreme music on my PC. I have a problem when I connect my 2.1 Logitech speakers it has to go through the headphones jack input. This is a hassle because if I want to change listening from headphones to speakers I have to unplug the headphone jack at the back of the desktop and then plug the 2.1 speakers jack. Is there a way of plugging both the speakers jack and the headphones jack on the soundcard inputs and then switch between headphone and speakers mode through the computer mouse on the monitor screen?

I did just as you suggested. There is no quality difference when listening to the headphones while the speakers plug is plugged to the splitter cable jack. But when I am listening to the speakers if I disconnect the headphones plug the sound from the speakers gets louder. I was advised that I can add a X-Fi I/O Dri've? to the extra DVD dri've space available on deskto
ps.
This will add the extra jack input for headphones as well as add various other connectivity devices.
Sound Blaster X-Fi I/O Dri've, I/O Console, and Digital I/O Module

But at the moment your solution does the job with my 2.1 speakers. I am not sure if it will work the same with a 5.1 speakers. If I use a 5.1 speakers the line out which will be split will be used for the headphones and the front left and right speakers (which is used for the 2.1 speakers system) while the line 2 out will be used for rear left and rear right speakers. The line 3 out will be used for front center and subwoofer. I don't know if I split line for headphones this won't affect the front left and right of the 5.1 speaker system or maybe I have to unplug the headphones plug to make the 5.1 speakers system work. In any event unplugging the headphones plug will increase the volume of the speakers or even increase the sound quality if a trained ear listens to the sound. My ears are not trained enough to notice any quality difference.

Sound Card: Sound Blaster Li've! Value (Came with an older Gateway PC)
OS: Windows XP Professional with SP2
    Problem:
When installing Windows XP on a clean dri've(Fresh Install) I am unable to get sound from my speakers and headphones at the same time. After numerous testing I've determined that this is simply a Windows XP/SB Li've Value issue of some kind.
My temporary fix for this has simply been to switch my headphone and speaker plugs on my sound card with each other and go under the sound properties and turn off Digital output. Not a big deal just annoying having to do this.
I've had this card installed with Windows ME on my system and Windows 2000 and did not have this issue as described above. I simply turned on digital output plugged in both my headphones and speakers to the back of my sound card and had sound from both with no problems what so ever.
I read somewhere that switching the devldr.exe (which I actually tried) that was installed with windows over to the devldr.exe on the XP setup cd. This actually worked for a moment. Once I rebooted I no longer had sound from both my speakers and headphones.
What I'm wondering is if I could switch the devldr.exe with either the Windows ME version (not sure if it uses the file) or with the Windows 2000 version would this fix my problem, or has anyone had this problem and found a solution other then what I have stated?
    Thanks

  • Want my Headphones and Speakers to work at the same t

Hiya. I have an Audigy 2 ZS. I can't figure out how to get my headphones and speakers working simultaneously. I'm sure i used to be able to rig it up like that. Now i can't figure out how i used to do it. I don't have a splitter of any kind. I have the option "Mute speakers when headphone jack is detected" unchecked. One thing i do remember is that i used to have to turn up my speakers real loud so i could hear stuff from my computer, louder than should of been needed. Hope someone can help, thanks.

    Both stereo?
Same source (same music out from both):
    - speakers to Front L/R, Headphones to Rear L/R (or vice versa)
    - speakers set to 4/4.
(- CMSS to Stereo Surround (if not already working w/ above settings))
    Diri'ver modes on software:
DirectSound and MME - channels /2 (this is default),
    WDM(/KS) (and Asio4All) - channels 3/4
    ASIO --> Wave R/L
Different sources (one player outputs through Front L/R, the other through Rear L/R):
    - speakers to Front L/R, Headphones to Rear L/R (or vice versa)
    - speakers 4/4.
    - CMSS disabled
    - software that allows free output channel selection for second source (like NI Traktor BeatportPlayer, Foobar2000, etc.)
    - your current player outputs through "Front L/R", the other player is set to output through "Rear L/R"
    Driver modes:
    WDM(/KS) (and Asio4All) - channels /2 or 7/6 = Front L/R, 5/6 = Rear L/R
    ASIO - outputs 2/3 Front L/R, 4/5 Rear L/R
    NOTE:
Above settings works w/ Audigy 2 (6. card). If not w/ Zs, it's quite easy to find those settings which works for it.

  • Headphones plugged in, but sound is coming out from both headphones and speakers

My laptop has had this problem for quite some time now, it first materialized when I updated to Windows 8.1. I had recently upgraded to Windows 10, and the problem fixed itself. But when I used the laptop the next day, it reverted back to playing from both headphones and speakers, so it's not really a problem with the hardware. I've also restored the laptop multiple times (using restore point), and the problem gets fixed for a day, then comes back the next day. I've tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it, but no luck.
Laptop does not recognize the headphones even when they're plugged in.
    Any other solutions?

    Hi @Alpha_ ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 14-b017c  Sleekbook and not playing sound correctly. Here is a document on troubleshooting sound.
Here is another step to try.
    1. Right click speaker icon (right hand corner)
    2. Select Playback devices
    3. Right click Speakers IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio is your default.
    4. Enable it and set as Default
    5. Click Apply/Ok
Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues as headphones or speakers.
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook.
Hope this helps with the sound.
    Thanks.

  • Docked T500 - Switch between headphones and speakers

    Hey guys,
I am using my T500 with an Advanced Mini Dock at work. I keep the headphones (with microphone) plugged into the docking station.
Sometimes I want to listen to the audio on my laptop's speakers rather than inside the headphones. Is there any way I can make this switch without unplugging the jack from the docking station.
I know that above the volume bar for some systems you are able to switch between headphones and speakers and also, up until ~1 month ago I was able to do this from the SmartAudio utility, but now I can't. I can just switch between SPDIF and headphones.
I am using Windows 7 64-bit and I have all the latest drivers and apps that come using the "System Update" utility.
Please let me know if you have a solution for this.
    Thank you,
    Ciprian

I'm pretty sure that the blame for this lies entirely with Microsoft and their stupid hardware-detecting W7 OS. Yes, it actually detects when you unplug the headphones, tells you what you just did, and promptly resets all sorts of things. The most sensible thing you can do (apart from reverting to XP, which doesn't do this) is to plug an external stereo jack to stereo jack socket extension lead, and plug either your headphones or speakers into that instead, whilst leaving the plug end permanently in the laptop. Microsoft can't pull that stupid stunt on an external connector, so you should be okay with that.

  • Headphones and Speakers at the same time on ZS 2

    Hiya
I have the Audigy 2 ZS sound card.
I have a set of normal speakers with the one connector and a set of headphones that has 2 connectors, one for the mic and one for the headphone speakers. This is also a USB set so i have that option aswell.
Now i know i can put the headphones in the front panel but i dont really want to do this as my pc would mean have the fron panel open.
My question is, how am i able to use both the headphones and speakers at the same time. At this moment if i plug the USB headphones in they take over and no sound comes out of the speakers.
I would like both if poss
    Thx

You can get a stereo splitter adapter/cable and with it, you can have the headphone and speaker connect to the same output jack from the soundcard.

  • Headphones and speakers playing at the same time on Win 8.1

When I plug in a headphone to my laptop the speakers don't cut out, both headphones and speakers play at the same time instead of one cutting out automatically.

You may try to reinstall the sound driver for your computer from this link http://www.sony-asia.com/support/product/sve15115en.  We kindly recommend contacting the Sony Support Center in your region at http://www.sony-asia.com/section/support for your Asia Pacific model computer.

  • Sound -music plays thru headphones AND speakers at the same time.....

I have MacBook Pro, in WIndows when I play a CD or an MP3 player, etc... I hear the sound through the headphones AND the speakers.. plugging in the headphones should mute the speakers automatically. It works just fine in the Mac OS, but Windows I cant figure out why... it runs on the SigmTel Audio. Any ideas anyone??? Am i missing some setting?
Hope to hear from anyone soon.. any suggestions is appreciated!
    Thanks

The sound card on the macbook has a combined optical digital audio output/headphone out (minijack). So sound is being piped out both sound outputs in OSX and XP.
The difference comes in because XP and the windows sound drivers for that card, do not know how to handle dual digital audio outputs and instead of shutting down the internal digital speakers(on our Macbook)when say your headphones are plugged in, windows just leaves both digital outputs open.
To resolve this issue, contact Apple or the soundcard vendor to obtain a Windows XP driver that supports digital output on the dual-mode analog/digital capable sound card.
To work around this issue, use analog speakers or headphones.
    Hope this Helps!

  • Music Comes Out Headphones And Speakers At Same Time

My ipod is playing music out of the headphones and the speakers at the same time and I can't figure out why. I reconnect the headphones and it still plays out of both...It is like it doesn't recognize that there are headphones plugged in, but yet it still plays out of them. Help would be appreciated.

Are you sure the headphones are plugged all the way in?

I have just purchased macbook pro... im in windows XP right now. I installed an mp3 player, Winamp, put my headphones on and the music comes through the headphones AND the speakers on the laptop at the same time. Why is this? • Headphones and speakers at same t

    Hi,
I am a total newbie at this, so I hope my question is not too stupid.
I am using a Soundblaster Audigy soundcard Driver version 5.2..52. I run Windows XP Home SP2, Athlon .6 processor.
I use desktop speakers for listening to music, and I use a headset for Skpye & Voip.
I see in the Audigy instructions that the soundcard has 3 separate lines out. Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to configure the soundcard so that exactly the same sound goes out of two separate lines out, so that I can plug the desktop speakers into lineout and the headphones into lineout 2 and get the same sound coming out of both?
Up till now I have been plugging both the speakers and the headset into one lineout, using a double adaptor plug, but I would prefer not to do this.

Plug the headphones into the cards front out jack and the speakers into the rear out. Then use the speaker settings and set it to heaphones when you want to only use the headphones, and set it to 4/4. when you want to use the speakers. You will also need to enable CMSS to get sound out of both, and if you only want to use the speakers at the time move the balance slider (under CMSS) to all rear.

  • Volume resets on both headphones and speakers upon shutdown/restart

Every single time I shut down my MacBook Pro, it resets the volume to a little over halfway for headphones/external speakers, and halfway for the speakers in the MacBook Pro. I've tried resetting the VRAM and PRAM but I haven't been able to. Every time I hold down the keys it just boots to a normal login window. If someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong I would be very appreciative.

Worked beautifully! Thank you very much!!

Tried it reverting to an older version of Skype.  Didn't work.
But!  I believe I may have found the solution.
Here are the steps I took to solve the issue:
    1. Right click on the audio volume control icon -> Playback devices.  The Sound window and Playback tab should be open.
    2. Set Speakers/HP as both the Default Device and the Default Communications Device.
    3. Go to Skype>Tools>Audio Settings.  Set Speakers settings to: Speakers/HP (IDT High Audio Definition CODEC).
Hopefully this will work for anyone else who has the same or a similar problem.

  • Trouble with Headphones and speakers Windows 7

Whenever I am in a voice call using skype, the sound from other programs ex. Google Crhome iTunes ect. will play out of my speakers, I tried disabling my speakers but then the sound did not play at all. How can I get sound to play out of my headphones and my headphones only? I am running Windows 7 64-bit on an HP pavilion g7.

    Hello gibsok,
You’re having a problem with sound coming from speaker and headphones at the same time.
You can reset BIOS defaults. This will correct the problem with the hardware and software working together.
    Turn off the computer.
As you turn it back on tap the F10 key. This will load BIOS setup utility.
    Press F9 to load defaults
Press F10 to save and exit.
When the computer boots back up, check to see if everything is working.
You can uninstall the audio driver and reinstall.
You might need to completely reinstall 7.
On the other unit that you updated to windows 7 was it also running XP?
Here is a link that fixes common audio problems.
Clicking the White Kudos star on the left is a way to say Thanks!
Let me know how everything goes.
    Have a good day.

  • Headphones and Speakers

    Hi,
im thinking of buying the Inspire T6060 5.1 Speaker System and was wondering if i can connect headphones to the wired remote? Also, if not, what speaker system would you recommend for use with headphones. I use the Plantronics Audio 90.

    Hi ya
Just purchased tyhe Inspire T6060 for use with my new pc. You can connect up headphones to the wired remote. I'm trying to find out how to have the headphones not mute the rest of the system at the moment though as I want both the headphones and the speakers still to be playing.

  • Audio and speakers issues with the new iTunes 7

    Hi,
I also have an audio problem after installing the new iTunes 7. It seems after iTunes have finished "determining the gapback playback information", all audio from iTunes and Quicktime only comes through my two front speakers. I have a 5.1 setup for my computer and it seems is only a iTunes and Quicktime issue since Windows media plays the audio just fine. Anybody know what the issue could be? I'm on Windows XP by the way.
I have checked my speaker setup and sound card and this problem does not occur in Windows media or any other media software. It seems that it only occurs with iTunes and Quicktime.

Yet another person with the exact same problem, with the same sound card. Everything is up-to-date. I've tried all of the other "fixes" but its either done nothing, or given me use of my rear speakers but added an awful awful ear shattering static. I've tried everything. I even stood on one foot.
Furthermore, my EAX options do not work with iTunes 7 either, though they work with the older versions. I can't even adjust the speaker balance (front to rear, right to left). This is an isolated problem, only with the new iTunes and QuickTime. Everything else on my computer works just dandy, and cooperates with my speakers (5.1 surround) and my EAX settings.
Edited because I said video card, not sound card.. I'm tired, been trying to fix this for an hour.
