Xtreme Music with 1950 Pro agp8x

I have bought a new 950 sapphire Pro agpx 8x 52 mb along with my new Xtreme Music.
Whenever I install the soundblaster the 950 doesn't work correctly giving me the code 2.
When I remove the X-fi everythng works like a charm. I tried every possible combination at
BIOS and all of the 5 PCI's available. No joy. Whenever X-Fi is on a PCI the 950 doesn't
work correctly. It gives me the yellow exclamation at the first monitor but not at the secondary.
And of course the code 2 that the card can't find any resource to use and that I have to uninstall
something for the 950 to work. I removed almost everything else but this is not the case. Only when
I remove the X-fi the system works under the 950 Pro. It is very essential for me to work because
I use my PC for editing and now I can't. I am sure they will not take back the X-Fi at the store
because the package isn't complete anymore. I dwasn't expecting anything like this and this is the st
time I saw something like this. I hope you can help me somehow.

With your Inspire 5. Digital 5700, your best bet is?using the analog Front and Rear input connections on the decoder and connect them to the X-Fi Xtreme Music front (Line Out )?and rear (Line?Out 2)?output connections and then enable CMSS Music or CMSS Movie Mode on your Digital 5700 decoder which will then give you a 4./5. Upmix. Gi'ven that you don't have a Center connection on the the Inspire 5. Digital 5700, no connection can made to the your Front Center satelite speaker/Subwoofer (Line Out 3) on your X-Fi Xtreme Music card. I'm led to understand that Creative speaker systems do not need Bass Redirection to reproduce proper Bass frequencies on your Subwoofer and not on your satelite speakers but you may want to test this simply enabling and disabling Bass Redirection, on your X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card, to your own personal taste. Alternately, you can concurrently connect your Inspire 5. Digital 5700 via the Coxial Digital/PCM Input to the FlexiJack input/output jack on the X-Fi Xtreme Music and then enable Digital I/O mode for the FlexiJack in the Audio Console found in the Windows Control Panel or?in the Entertainment Mode or Game Mode Consoles. Unfortunately the FlexiJack only provides a 2 conductor connection therefore it only supports 2. Speaker system connections?therefore you will still have to enable the CMSS Music or CMSS Movie Modes on your Inspire 5. Digital 5700 decoder to produce a 4./5. sound upmix. Sadly, no optical connection can be made between your Inspire 5. Digital 5700 and your X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card without the installation of the X-Fi I/O Dri've or X-Fi I/O Console at, of course, additional expense. From my standpoint, the X-Fi I/O Dri've is a good value given the number of external inputs and outputs in offers. Again, it's a matter of what your personal connection requirements are and budget. X-FI Xtreme Music with I/O Drive Upgrade Driv

Hello,
I just installed the I/O Dri've Upgrade and so far everything works after I installed the cd that came with the kit.
When I went to Creative Labs webpage and did an autoupdate to check the drivers, it told me that I have a X-FI Platinum instead of a X-FI Xtreme Music.
I just wanted to check with you as I know the X-FI Xtreme Music with the upgrade kit is basically a X-FI Platinum, however should I install drivers for the X-FI Platinum in the future?

Yeah that's what I did - they're basically exactly the same card, but one comes with the I/O dri've and the other doesn't.

Recording music with MacBook Pro

Hello,
Im upgrading but I am unsure whether MacBook Pro will suit my needs.
I want to be able to record up to 16 channels via a firewire audio interface simultaneously into Logic Pro.
I currently use an old iBook G4 with a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 audio interface but the iBook struggles to record up to 8 channels simultaneously. Im guessing this is because of processing power?
Does anybody know whether MacBook Pro will be suitable?
Does anybody use there MacBook Pro for recording music?

I have used my 15" Pro for recording music into soundtrack for some minor stuff but it records just beautifully. I would make sure that you get a Pro that is clocked in at a high processing speed. I would liked to have gotten the 17" since that model also has the extra graphics card (not that you need it for sound). Also make sure that the model you do choose has the right about of pins for the firewire. I believe they have changed since the Macbook models.

but it has only 6 analog input ( center,sub,front l/r,rear l/r )

since u are using 5. speaker, you only need to directly connect the cable from ur speaker to the sound card output, no need to use Creative Home Theater Cable.
and remember to set your sound card to 5. no matter u use what cable, since ur speaker is 5. only...if u play 7. content movie, the side L/R will directly map to the rear speaker, so no "miss sound" issue...understand?

Hello ! I am heber from argentina! bs as! federal discrict! Hey guys! you are soo cool! you help me a lot of times! but now i have to write to you becausa i dont get a solid solution to my problem. I search and see that there are some users with the same problem but i dont see a solid answer. The things that i do to try the fix the problem was clean and unninstall the drivers and soft with tools like driver sweeper etc and install the last driver but the result is the same. The only thing i found like a temporal solution when the problem happend its do the the assignement in the panel thx. I want to ask you if there is a solution, a permanent one...plz! becausa i am going to the thx panel like 30 times per day!!! i am going crazy! For more details i copy and edit a message from a user that have the same problem that i , read it plz : Ever since installing the latest drivers, 2.5. or whatever they are, I have sound and 5. support now using an X-Fi Xtreme music with Vista 64 bit (2GB), The card just randomly swaps channels on me. What I mean is, if I start from a fresh boot, I'll get all 5 speakers working in a 5. movie or video game or mp3. Shortly after though, it will swap all the sound to only the back channels and then only teh front channels, and sometimes only the center channel. Most of times it does in pairs , meaning that it wont be like front left and back right, always both back speakers and then both front speakers. Either way, it totally breaks the surround sound and it's rather annoying to hear the sound travel from front to back etc. Is there some way to fix this or anyone know the cause of this I'm about done with Creative and their crappy support for Vista. I might have to go back to on board 5. support if this keeps up. Well if you need something else! please let me know! and if you give me a hand i will be very happy ^^ . hope u don't mind my English. I have learned it a long time ago, don't need it very often and the grammer was always my problem.
I know the patch works with a X-Fi Xtreme Music, but I am not sure about the UAA (what does this mean and do I need optical or coax out). I tried the titanium pcie before but then I have the skipping/lags effect like some others with Powerdvd9 Ultra as well. It seems that there is no workaround for this. I have no problems with my old X-Fi Xtreme Audio

SPDIF out has nothing to do with support. I have no idea what hte Xtreme Music UAA supports. I would imagine if it uses the DSP from the normal X-FI line, it would. If it uses the DSP from the Xtreme Audio, it won't.

No subwoofer with X-Fi Xtreme Music connected to analog 5.1 inputs of HT amplifier

I have a X-Fi Xtreme Music connected to the analog 5.1 channel inputs of my Thomson home theater amplifier.
Everything works fine expect for the subwoofer. When I play stereo content using CMSS 3D or when I use Creative's built-in DD or DTS decoders there's no sound of of the subwoofer. All the other speakers work perfectly but the subwoofer doesn't respond at all.
But when I use PowerDVD to playback a DVD/BluRay which has a Dolby or DTS 5.1 soundtrack the subwoofer works like a charm. I guess that's because PowerDVD uses it's own DD/DTS decoder and not the X-Fi's one.
I also tried to use the bass redirection function in the THX console but that didn't make a difference either.
I also tried different drivers but non of them could fix this so far:
-latest official driver and console launcher available from Creative (couldn't try the bass redirection with this driver as it has no THX console)
-SB X-Fi Series Support Pack 2.0?by ?daniel_k
-SB X-Fi Series AuzenForte Pack .0 by daniel_k
Does anyone know that problem or maybe even know how to fix it's?
If it can't be fixed on the software side I thought about using a Y-cable and a low pass filter to input the X-Fi's center speaker signal into my amplifier's subwoofer input. The only problem with that would be that I would have to switch to the X-Fi's real subwoofer output and back when I play back a DVD or BluRay using PowerDVD as PowerDVD outputs the bass signal to the subwoofer output like it should be.
What do you think about that workaround?

Welcome to my dillema... i own the x-fi fatality and i'm on the virge of dumping it in favour of competition's cards. problem is that x-fi will NOT encode 5. over digital. Yes your receiver has 5. decoder but the card does NOT encode the sound. at best you'll get 2 channels. azuntech cards are capable of this I believe. what i am doing at the moment is use RCA cables and go over analog and let x-fi do the work as opposed to the receiver. 2x /8 stereo to 2 cable RCA, and /8 stereo to 3 cable RCA (camcorder type) cables. alternati'vely you can spend couple bucks and buy the adapter creative sells for connecting to home theater system. as far as what you can do to get x-fi to do 5. over digital... well there's not a hell of a lot you can do because the card doesn't support it... unless a creative staff can correct me and show me how to do this

Problems setting up Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Music card with Logitech Z-5500 Speak

I have searched a lot for information on this and I have been unable to find a solution to
my problem. I recently purchased a new Dell PC with the following items: Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card and Logitech Z-5500 speakers. However, when I tried to connect the 3 analog wires from the central unit into my sound card, only one of them will work at a time. In other words, only one set of speakers will play anything. I am not sure what other options I have. Someone from Best Buy said I needed the box that comes with the Platinum version of X-fi Xtreme but I am not sure where I can order this from. Is it sold seperately anywhere? Clearly I am not going to order another of the same sound card and pay another $200 when the only thing I need is the box. Any suggestions on how to solve this dilemma would be extremely appreciated.

You might want to reinstall the drivers, because it looks like your default speaker settings are set to 2. or whatever non 5. setting it was on. This is because whenever you click on the default settings button, it will reset the speaker setting back to the non-5. speaker setting. Actually, you can do a custom uninstall of the card and just uninstall the volume panel. Then reinstall it. It should ask you what default speaker setting you desire. Set it to 5.. That way you don't have to worry about it defaulting to the wrong speaker settings.

Yes the speaker will work with the soundcard. Indeed the speaker are using 3.5mm jack.

Dangerous Music D-box with Logic Pro X

Hello; I am a D-box user and Love it! I have used it with PT11 and Studio One with no issues. Now I am trying to setup the routing for Logic Pro X and I'm having a heck of a time getting it to work properly. I get sound when in "analog & sum" mode but not in DAW mode. Yes, I have Print track set up, stems etc.. I have searched all over the internet and can't seem to find any help. I did watch Fab's video on YT with Logic 9 but still having issues. Is there someone here that uses a D-box with Logic Pro X that woudl be willing to give me a hand? I also use a U/A apollo interface. Thank you in advance! It would be so much appreciated.

I have had problems with this exact setup as well, LogicX - Apollo - DBox. All was working fine until a few weeks ago and then no more DAW S/PDIF. So after checking that the Apollo's S/PDIF was OK and checking cables with a volt meter, etc. I decided to send the DBox back for repair because all things pointed to a dead converter in the DBox.
It turns out they found nothing wrong with the DBox, no problems at all and it is being sent back to me. I will have it set up soon and will post again here my findings. Watch this space.

X-Fi Xtreme Music and Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 speakers NOT Working Digitally

Can someone tell me why I cannot get the digital I/O jack to ouput the my speakers? I have tried using the creative I/O module plugged into the digital I/O jack then using a coaxial cable or optical to the 5700 speakers and neither works. I tried using the miniplug to digital DIN adapter that came with the 5700 speakers and it doesn't work. I know the speakers are fine cause they work fine using the onboard sound digital ouput. Did Creative do something to the X-Fi line of cards here?

Recording live music with Soundblaster X-Fi Xtr

My new Dell shipped with a Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme. I told the sales rep I wanted to record li've music into it, and wanted a card with a MIDI port - he said this was the card I needed but now it's arri'ved it hasn't got a MIDI port at all, just mic/line in, and digital in/out as well as the speaker outputs. I'm gonna have to buy an external audio board it seems... In the meantime I want to at least record some basic stuff but I can't work out (I'm new to this) how to overdub. Since I've only got the one line in for my instruments and vocals I want to be able to record over existing tracks I've saved - will someone please tell me how to go about this cos I've looked in all of the help menus and opened all of the software that shipped with it and can't find the right option. I thought it should be possible to achieve in WaveStudio, but this seems to just record over my existing track, not overdub it. Sorry if it's a really obvious question but it's driving me nuts.
Also - any clues as to why an AWFUL, piercing, electronic whine should come through my speakers occasionally when I click on a button in a website, or open a program? Doesn't seem to follow a particular pattern, which makes it difficult to predict. Most unpleasant...

sorry, i overlooked the psu,
the sticker says 550w psu : +3.3v - 30a, +5v - 35a, +12v - 20a
yes the onboard sound is disabled, as is the onboard modem.
I've tried it in slot 3, as well as all other slots and I get the same symptoms in each, I suspected an IRQ conflict to start with, possibly with the IDE controller but with it happening in everything slot I ruled that out for now.
What about changing the PCI latency clock etc... would that have an effect on the card?
I asked the question on the creative labs forum and a user suggested changing the PCI IRQ pool options in the bios but that didnt seem to have any effect either. Im close to giving up with this card but that would be a waste of money til I could afford a new board, CPU etc...
I'd be happier having a bios upgrade than have to change all the settings but I understand this probably isnt going to happen due the age of the motherboard. Funnily enough I havent had any faults using vista other than this, and as I stated I have also tried it with XP Pro SP2.

Been having problems with sound since installing Win7 Pro 64 bit. I previously ran my system on XP Pro 32-bit. The sound just isn't the same as before. Since the original CD that came with the card is not compatible with Win7, I was forced to download and use the drivers on Creative's website.
Note that I am using the same EXACT settings I had back when running XP at 35% max volume.
Since Windows 7, I am forced to run at 20% max volume, yet music and in-game sounds sound distorted from time to time.
Could there be an explanation behind this?
