Xtremegamer - NO so

I have just installed an Xtremegamer card in a newly built PC. System sound works fine but only on 2.. I have 5.. ?I have installed the Vista drivers and have NO sound at all when the Creative card is selected. I see that others are able to get this card to work. Any help on getting sound from this card would be appreciated.

Hello ladies.Have you tried turning it off and on again? (watch IT Crowd series)? Now, seriously,?thats the way?the prob is?solved. Right click with mouse on volume panel - playback devices - select speakers (Creativ SB X-Fi) - properties - advanced - you can?see Signal enhancements just untie the box with Enable audio enhacements. You are about to?loose extra signal processing by the audio device, but no more CPU usage above normal. Heh and don't set PCI Latency Timer (PCI Clocks) to lower value then 64 on older Mobos, otherelse you will hear just crancking'n'creaking.

I installed the sound blaster into a brand new system with the specs above. Tried all the PCI slots, tried different bios versions, drivers that came on the cd and newest ones, different amounts of ram. However I still can't get the card to work just keep getting the error message "This device cannot start. (Code 0)". Any ideas?

    I've tried enabling/disabling UAC.
I've run the drivers as an admin.
I've formatted a few times just to make sure no driver conflicts.
Also I've tested the card on another PC running XP sp3 works fine.
PCI slot works fine as well tested with an ethernet card.
    You've tried about everything.
Did you try to disable any non essential onboard devices (HD Audio, LAN, additional SATA/IDE controller etc)?
What about installing XP on a spare dri've?

  • XtremeGamer driver not working with Windows 7

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and I can't get my XtremeGamer sound card to work. I've installed the latest drivers listed on your site and I still don't get any sound. Any thoughts as to what might be causing this problem? I've used the update manager to ensure my driver is fully up-to-date.

I have been battling with this issue as well for several weeks now. I have gone as far as to try Windows 7 professional 64-bit, downloading the driver from numerous locations, reformatting the computer several times, and attempting to install it on an SSD as well as a standard hard drive. I finally decided to call Lenovo and just got off the phone with them... At first, the representative advised me that it was because I installed Windows professional 64-bit instead of the home premium version that came with the computer. I advised them that I was not willing to except that answer and that I disagreed with it (not to mention that at one point had it up and running with Windows 7 64-bit professional). The following response that I was given is to pay either $179 for ongoing support or to pay $90 for a one-time support issue. This is unbelievably frustrating the computer is not even six months old, I have never run into issues like this before, and let's just say this isn't my first barbecue so I know what I'm doing. Simply out of principle, I am now considering getting rid of this thing and going back to Asus... So tired of dealing with this garbage.

  • Windows 7 64 bit and X-Fi XtremeGamer - Bass Redirection Not Working (No Subwoofer)

SWindows 7 64 bit and X-Fi XtremeGamer - Bass Redirection Not Working (No Subwoofer)% Greetings,
Today I ugraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit edition and am having a problem with my 5. surround sound that previously worked perfectly in Windows Vista Ultimate.
I am using an X-Fi XtremeGamer PCIe card and the problem is that I have full working surround sound, but the bass/ subwoofer isn't working.
Previously in Vista I enabled bass redirection in the Creative Console and this would make the subwoofer work. In Windows 7 in the console there is a bass redirection option but it doesn't work. Also in the Creative Audio Control panel there is NO option for bass redirection either.
Audio sounds tinny and I am 99.9% everything is set up correctley, I think this is a driver problem. At this moment I'm unsure if this issue plagues both the 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows 7 or just the 64bit version (since the console launcher is 32bit).
Anyone had a similar problem and cracked it's Apart from this small glitch Windows 7 is great!
    Thanks!

WRe: Windows 7 64 bit and X-Fi XtremeGamer - Bass Redirection Not Working (No Subwoofer)h heya, I have exactly the same problem.
running 64-bit windows 7, X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card, Trust 5. speakers.
the bass used to work in XP because I could enable bass redirection and alter crossover frequency.
these options are now no longer available in the windows 7 drivers (.4.90) and my bass is not working at all.
it is very annoying, there has been no comment from creative than i can find because it only appears to happen to a small percentage of speakers.
basically if someone from creative can't help fix the problem,?people with this problem?will unfortunately be forced to purchase a different brand of sound card because my speakers certainly aren't broken and work with the on-board sound fine.
so if anyone else has the same problem or any advice on how to fix the problem, please comment.

  • X-Fi Xtremegamer stops working in Windows 7 Ultimate both 32/64 bit

Recently my sound card has started doing weird things. At any state of working process like watching movie, playing game or just listening to mp3 sound was disappearing and appearing in random time. It would sometimes get back in 5 minutes or sometimes in an hour. Reboot always helped.
Yesterday the same happened but now the reboot doesn't help any more. The thing is it recognizes the sound card (In Device manager: "Creative SB X-Fi") but the "Speakers" icon in playback is gone. I can only see SPDIF Out. In recording tab I can see all the devices that were before (Microphone, Auxilary, Line-In and "What U Hear"). Disabling and enabling it in device manager doesn't help either:
    <img height="386" src="http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/377/crn.jpg" width="800[/img]
Another funny thing is, when I click on the volume indicator in windows mixer equalizer rises appropriately. Looks like as if it really was working through SPDIF but not Speakers. Any software (music/video players) won't recognize audio output device:
    [img"]http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/483/cr2s.jpg[/img]
I have tried everything I could. Replaced card in different PCI slot, reinstalled driver. When it didn't help even downgraded driver and flashed BIOS, but still it just won't work. Motherboard is ASUS P5Q SE and onboard integrated audio is disabled and I'm running this card on Win7 Ultimate 64bit with latest driver downloaded directly from creative website.
I'd be very thankful for support.

I have this exact same problem too with no answer. And I do IT work, computer repair, soldering, networks for a living!!!
With the X-FI XtremeGamer PCI card and Vista Business 32bit, an MSI AMD 780G chipset board...nothing NVIDIA at all. Vid card was ATI 4870 - I had the classic Snap/Crackle/Pop problem. I went with On-Board audio until Creative was done dragging it's feet and updated the drivers. That seemed to solve that problem.
Now, after some upgrades - Clean install of Windows 7 Pro 64bit, Gigabyte AMD 780G chipset board...nothing NVIDIA at all. Vid card is still ATI 4870. I get the widespread, well known disappearing X-Fi card problem.
Tried fresh uninstall, Dri'veSweeper purge, reinstall. No luck. What happens is it automatically shifts from X-fi Speakers to SPDIF and I lose sound. I have to go into Device Manager, uninstall and then seek HARDWARE changes/reinstall it. 99% of the time this works and I do not have to reboot. But this happens every other time.
One thing I have not tested, that I know solved about 99% of the other CREATIVE problems I have had to fix over the years is going into MSCONFIG then STARTUP, and disabling CTXFIHLP.exe. Diff. variations over the years but that darn thing has ALWAYS caused problems and as soon as I disable it...the problems would cease!
I gave up and switched over to my AMD HD REALTEK 7. onboard audio and have never been happier.
3 or 4 years ago, onboard audio sucked. Now it rules. I am glad I took the time to give onboard another chance.
I only listen to music/FLAC files for pleasure and I am a serious gamer. I do not edit music or do audio work and I am not an uptight, "VINYL IS BETTER!" audiophile. Just a 40 something gamer and IT admin. I? have not been able to tell between my onboard audio and the X-Fi card. So, my friends and I did an experiment. Blindfolded, we took turns listening to the same music clips and cut scenes and fight scenes from games. NONE OF US...........0..........could tell the difference.
Those of us that were having problems yanked the cards and sold them on Ebay. Believe...they were not worth much. lol So I kept mine in case I needed it for a backup.
I say this without malice...but I think the 'scene' is realizing Creative is falling behind the times. I see the much hyped, OVER PRICED Fatality series but when compared under similar circumstances with some high quality 5. or 7. speakers, we could not really tell the difference. DOes anyone even remember or know who FATALITY is these days?
Bottom line - For myself and my friends, we have no need to buy a sound card if the onboard card can deli'ver.
To us, the extra $00-200 we save can now be di'verted to something more important...like RAM, CPU or in my case, new VID CARD.

  • SB XF-I Xtremegamer - microphone doesn't w

I have a SB XF-I Xtremegamer sound card and I can't get the microphone to work. I have tried 2 mics and have tried it on Windows Vista, then I reinstalled Windows XP, still no luck. I have an Asus P5N320E Deluxe mobo that comes with an on board sound card which is disabled, could this be doing something or is there mic port dead?

I had the same problem and managed to?solve it .My problem was I was plugging my mic lead ( the pink end ) into the pink socket of my sound card,(as is the practice with on-board sound), however, I should have plugged it into the blue socket on the creative soundcard and not the pink one. After I'd done this, I enabled the microphone setting (clicked it to take the red cross away) in the sorround mixer (accessible from the task bar volume control with a right click. When done, on the same sorround mixer and on the rec. setting, change it to "What you hear" as this is a better setting than "Microphone", but you can always experiment. When done you should hear your voice through the speakers and be able to record what you hear. Watch for feedback, if this happens, experiment with volume and recording level. To turn off the noise of the mic through the speakers when you're finished recording, just turn of the microphone (red cross) in surround mixer.Hope this helps you and anyone else with this prob.

JUnable to enable SPDIF? X-Fi XtremeGamer (non-PRO) w/ Digital I/O Module? I recently purchased the Digital I/O module in order to use SPDIF Out on my X-Fi XtremeGamer in order to send audio to my 5. receiver via digital coax.
However after hooking up my Digital I/O module to the flexijack (the one with the red light) I am unable to enable SPDIF.
I read and followed the directions listed here:

The options that they tell you to set are simply are not there on my system.
I am running the most current drivers and console launcher that Creative has on their website.
I have been trying to get it to work both under Windows XP and Windows 7.
I have spent the last 3 hours beating my head on a wall, I hope someone can help me with this...
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Ah that's what I am afraid of.
Quoted from the article in your message: "For SB073X series : Supports Microphone-in, Line-in and Optical out connections. On a SB073X series card, this jack does not have the Digital-in function to support the Digital I/O Module. It does however connects to external digital audio devices that accept stereo PCM or compressed Dolby Digital/DTS Bitstream from the Optical output. This will require using a "Toslink to Mini Toslink" cable for connection only."

  • Sound problems with vista 32 bit on xfi xtremegamer

hi im havin sound issues with my sound blaster xfi fatality xtremegamer on vista 32 bit. the sound will sound like a skippin cd or sound like it is stuterin for a few seconds than it will play fine than do it again later on. i was wounderin if its a driver issue with vista or my sound card has broke? i had it runnin on xp and had no problems. can anyone help me please as my card is only abot 8 months old so if it could be faltiy i am still covered by warrinty.

I don't know if it's the driver that's causing a problem or if it's one of your components that's causing a problem. All I know is that the X-Fi is working great on my system, both in XP Pro and Vista Business. I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think I installed the driver first and then the software from the leaked Vista Suite that I downloaded from a link in a post on this forum. Never had a problem with any of the previous drivers either, but on the other hand this system was built in november/december last year, so the hardware was fairly new at the time.

  • X-Fi XtremeGamer doesn't work, is pci bus the cau

    Hello,
    warning: lengthy post ahead
I've recently bought an X-Fi XtremeGamer and an old thinclient pc, with the idea of making a small, low-power mp3 player. The thin client has a VIA C3 533Mhz processor, 256Mb ram, and a single PCI slot (used for the X-Fi).
However, when I install the X-Fi and the drivers, it just doesn't seem to work: while it shows up in the device manager without any error indication, it doesn't produce any sound at all. The audio console behaviour is odd as well: changing modes causes it to completely freeze up, and I can't select any speaker configuration, even tough I have analog speakers connected to the green jack.
I'm running a fresh installation of Windows XP SP2, disabled the on-board audio and removed the drivers for the on-board audio. I've already tried cleaning and reinstalling the X-Fi drivers, but the result stays the same. Trying to change sound levels in microsoft's sound manager doesn't make a difference either. I've tested the sound card in another, 'regular' pc, and it works fine.
Because there's absolutly no documentation to be found for this thinclient, I can't determine the exact version of it's PCI bus. However, based on the keying, it appears to use 5V signalling. This shouldn't be a problem for the X-Fi, since it's keying indicates it can use both 5V and 3.3V pcI busses. However, I was able to determine that the PCI slot does *not* provide -2V, as it is supposed to. Could this be the cause of the X-Fi's malfunctioning?
    Thanks

This is really a bad issue. I think unless you are in the warranty period please change it once again and more over please if possible perform the deleting task over there

  • Differences between XtremeGamer and XtremeGamer Fatal1ty PRO Seri

I was looking at those two XFi cards and I would like to know if there's another difference appart from the X-RAM and the external connector.

The 'plain' XtremeGamer flexijack has an optical spdif out instead of coaxial, it's not compatible with the I/O module and the jacks are not gold plated. • HD Audio through XtremeGamer Pro?

I am backing up Blu-Ray movies : to my HDD and starting an HD library. I am using a XtremeGamer Pro to output audio through 3x3.5mm to 6 RCA jacks (which is considered multichannel analog). Several sources out there say HD audio can be passed through multichannel analog but aren't specifically talking about PC and more so my particular setup.
Now I know that outputting any analog source requires the decoding be done on source device and this means I won't see an HD light on my receiver. My question is, how can I verify that I am transmitting HD Audio?

    http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/HDMI-connection-through-PCI-E-Titanium-and-Nvidia-GTX-275/td-p/54503
That above will not necessarily help you........
But this might.....So for using a SPDIF to pass the audio on your card, you can try using this picture to attach the two SPDIF pins for the SPDIF out.........<img width="366" height="502[/img] src="http://i33.tinypic.com/n6p8cj.jpg">

  • Xfi Xtremegamer Sound Out Selectively to

    Hello,
I am havin a rather odd issue with my new system and I was hoping someone here would be able to help me or at least point me in the right direction. I just built a computer (Asus P5E-vm do, MSI8800GT 52MB, Xfi Xtremegamer, 4GB Gskill PC2 6400, WD 750GB 7400rpm 3.0 gb/s, Core 2 Duo E8400) with the hopes of using it as a media center. At first I installed Vista, but wiped the dri've and installed XP Pro Sp3 32bit in the hopes that it would solve the issue.
Alright, so here's my problem: when I change my video settings to Dual View or clone (basically whenever the computer outputs video to my TV), there is no sound output to the TV. The sound works fine on the TV when my video settings are set to single display mode for my monitor. I am using an audio out to RCA cable and a DVI to HDMI cable for video.
My card model is SB0730, bought brand new from Amazon.
I've tried doing a complete uninstall of drivers, as one of the guides on this site advised. I've installed the latest video and sound drivers from their respecti've manufacturer's websites. This is all on a completely fresh install of XP Pro SP3. I've also verified that it is not a problem with the TV itself as I have a similar setup on an older computer and the sound works perfect with multiple displays.
Any ideas would be immensely appreciated as I'm at a loss.

    !Try other drivers (preferably latest).
It sounds like you are running some kind of an audio filter which makes music sound different.
It could be a codec configured wrong, like you are listening to stereo but it makes it surround (or the opposite).
Or your mixer / preset is not the default.
If changing the mixer doesn't work (if it's already default) maybe try uninstalling your audio/video codecs and see if anything changes.

  • XtremeGamer stops working correctly after a wh

I've bought brand new computer with XtremeGamer, and when im playing some games, like Supreme Commander, almost everytime when i've played about 5-30 min. every sound/music stops and i start to hear whizzing noise. It doesn't stop until i restart my computer and start all over again. I've read help topics and such but i can't figure out what is causing that problem, i might quess its about those "computer goes kneeling" games which needs powerful machine to handle but i don't know how to fix it.

I'd check for harddrive problems, and if you use diskquota verify they are not the cause.
I have checked "smartctl -a" output and it show zerro Reallocated_Sector_Ct counters on both drives (I use soft raid-1 and I cannot run longtime disk checks). Also I have umounted /dev/md1 (this is separate partition for ftp service and assuming that trace contains strings about vsftpd) and checked it with reiserfsck -- no errors. Then I've mounted it back and checket quotas -- all seems fine. I cannot turn off quotas.
Seems that I get underground knocking problem :-) or electromagnetic compatibility problem ...
