XY Graph & Move Axes to middle

Is there a way to format an XYGraph so that the X and Y Axes are not at the left and bottom as default, but located at x=0 and y=0 (similar to a crosshair section)? I've been unsuccessful finding a property to control this.

Couldn't find any default settings, but if you right click on the graph and go to Advanced » Customize you can adjust the graph's appearance. Double click on the axis numbers and drag the x and y to the middle. You'll want to mess with the color settings to see the axis.

When I convert my excel spreadsheet to pdf objects like graphs move down in the page!

Hi everyone I am very new to this! Please help!
I was working with someone who has been migrated to Office 2007. If we create an Excel Spreadsheet and convert it to Pdf all is well. When we do the same with his old files the graphs move to the bottom of the pdf page and any text boxes will change font and the graphs will over run the text. We saved the files as .Xlsm and tried again but to no avail.
Can some one please help?

I am not sure which product you are having a problem with (Acrobat to convert to PDF? Reader to read the PDF? Or the builtin PDF capability of MS Office?), but if it is an Adobe product you can find the appropriate forum from the list of all forums.

Why does quicktime 7 save movies to grapher movies?

Installed the latest quicktime 7.6.6. Have the pro key.
When I save a movie as a self-contained movie, it saves it as a grapher movie. When I open this movie, it opens in grapher and I can only play it, not crop it for instance. And if I open it in Quicktime it's the same problem.
Can I simply get rid of the Grapher software as I don't think I will ever need it?
Did I miss something in this new version of Quicktime?
In previous versions I would just go to 'save as' and it was quick and easy – files saved as quicktime movies (.mov).

4-quadrant plot (graph with axes passing through centre)

Hi guys,
Been away for a while, but now I'm back in to the swing of Labview again! I'm trying to create a system which presents data in an x-y graph, but I want the graph to have the x- and y-axis passing through the centre, rather than meeting at a corner.
I read this thread, but I couldn't figure out how to customise the graph the way Jake H suggested. I also saw this thread, but the solution proposed doesn't really do what I want. If there's any confusion over what I need to achieve, the hurriedly-drawn sketch (attached) should clarify things.

Hi Rob, thank you for your attention. Unfortunately, this solution isn't helping, for two reasons:
1) Even with autoscaling off, and the graph set with the low numbers on each axis to a negative number, the axes do not move to the centre.
2) I will need to autoscale the x-axis, as the upper and lower limits (while usually equal) will vary depending on the data being plotted.
Is there something else I can try? Many thanks.

Preloader loads movie in the middle

Preloader works, although my music from the loading SWF file
begins playing right away during the preloading phase. But when the
movie does begin playing, it starts in the middle somewhere.
(almost as if it is trying to catch up to where the music is at?)
Sound event is set at Start and to Loop in frame 11 of the movie.

You'll only see it happen the first time, after that the file
is cached and it will play from the beginning like it's supposed

It's hard to tell exactly what the issue is without seeing
the fla, but do you have the preloader on the same frame as the
actionScript you use to pull in the music? I would have frame 1
have the preloader. Then have the actionScript in the preloader say
to move to frame 2 (which holds your music and images) after it's
done. If it is built like this, then more detail is needed.
Also, the preload time is extremely long. Have you considered
running those photos through Photoshop and save for the web? You
can knock down the file size quite a bit that way.

Movie lost in middle of watching

The Internet connection was lost in the middle of a movie we watching and the connection came back up the movie was lost. How do retrieve the movie without purchasing again?

Settings - iTunes - check for rentals. If it doesn't appear initially, log out and back into your account
However, if you are unable to watch the rental within the allotted timeframe you will need to rent it again or contact iTunes.

Dynamic table grows to 3 pages, preceding section of document moves, appears in middle of table!

I have a form with several sections, say (a) 'header', (b) 'instructions', (c) dynamic table.    This works very well in general - as long as the total form fits on 2 pages.
However, if the number of rows in the dynamic table gets too large, and flows to page 3 (or more), then the 'instructions' section moves from being in it's normal order - and shows up inside the table at the top of page 3 (last page)!     i.e., this section shows breaks the flow of the table, inserts a complete section, and then continues with the table!
Any ideas?    I've tried manually hiding/showing things and other tricks to try to get it to work as it does with a smaller table.

After mucho effort to reduce the problem, it turned out that I had the misbehaving section "Keep with -previous-" checked.    Not sure what this does really, and it certainly wasn't working correctly - but heck, removing it solved my problem.
I did reproduce the problem to this:
subform - marked 'Keep with previous"
repeating table
That's it.    Once the size of the repeating table goes to page 3, the previous subform jumps to the top of page 3.    Go figure.
(Somewhat humorously, in the linked to file - even the preceding element to the offending subform is also dragged to the top of page 3.)

I put one movie into the middle of another. Now the inserted movie frames are not the same size as the other movie. I can't find how to correct this. Can someone help?

Please help.

If the two files do not have the same dimension you can adjust them via the Movie Properties window.
When you add two files that don't have the same dimensions the default position for the added file is 0,0 (upper left corner).
Open the Movie Properties window, single click on the video track you wish to adjust and then click the Visual Settings tab.
You can then adjust the dimensions (to fit the other track) or the "offset" values to position it (inside or outside of the dimensions of the other track).

How to select a set of points in a xy graph contained in an area draw with the cursor ?

I'm using tIhe XY graph to plot a Pointcare representation of RR intervals (heart beat). I would like to use the mouse to draw a polygone surrounding the points of interest and get their indexes from the original array. Thank you to oriented me to some strategy!

This can be done, but unfortunately is not trivial. Since this is the second request I have seen in the last week for this type of functionality, I would encourage you to post the idea to the LabVIEW Idea Exchange.
All graphs have a front, middle, and back image, which is set using a picture control data type. You can use this to draw your cursor using an unfilled rectangle. You can capture mouse events on the XY graph using the event structure, and update your enclosed rectangle (or ellipse, or whatever you would like to draw) when the mouse moves. You can extract the enclosed data points from your original data set when a mouse up event occurs or when the user clicks inside the rectangle after drawing it. You may also want to include ways to tweak the boundaries of the rectangle.
This is relatively straightforward if you have used the event structure before, but could be very confusing if not. Let us know if you need more information or help.

Memory problem with loading a csv file and displaying 2 xy graphs

Hi there, i'm having some memory issues with this little program.
What i'm trying to do is reading a .csv file of 215 mb (6 million lines more or less), extracting the x-y values as 1d array and displaying them in 2 xy graphs (vi attacked).
I've noticed that this process eats from 1.6 to 2 gb of ram and the 2 x-y graphs, as soon as they are loaded (2 minutes more or less) are really realy slow to move with the scrollbar.
My question is: Is there a way for use less memory resources and make the graphs move smoother ?

Hi lerman,
how many datapoints do you need to handle? How many do you display on the graphs?
Some notes:
- Each graph has its own data buffer. So all data wired to the graph will be buffered again in memory. When wiring a (big) 1d array to the graph a copy will be made in memory. And you mentioned 2 graphs...
- load the array in parts: read a number of lines, parse them to arrays as before (maybe using "spreadsheet string to array"?), finally append the parts to build the big array (may lead to memory problems too).
- avoid datacopies when handling big arrays. You can show buffer creation using menu->tools->advanced->show buffer allocation
- use SGL instead of DBL when possible...

1) XY Graph cursor shift outside range and 2) cursor strange jumping on index value

Hello,
I have XYGraph and when using cursor along the edges and trying to go “higher” (or lower, more left...) the graph moves (scales are moving). Is possible to ban this behavior to force the cursor to stay in original range?
And one more question
When filling values into cursor legend it sometimes jumps less (talking about X coordinates). Just try example: cursor is set on 89 and fill “11” it jumps on 10 (but value 11 really exists). Strange
Does anybody know solution?

I could see the behavior you described, but cannot think of another way of resolving this other than to programmatically write the scale if it is detected to be beyond the data range. This of course is not ideal, but should work, nonetheless. What you described will make for a great product suggestion. As for your other concern, the issue is known one, and will be fixed in a future release of LabVIEW. In the mean time, If you'll zoom in at run-time, or try to retrieve the values at edit time, you'll be able to access these without a problem.

XY Graph Cursor Problem in Labview 7.1.1?

Hallo,
I am using Labview 7.1.1 and I am facing one problem with XY graph cursor. If I am moving cursor in one graph, I am expecting same movement in another Graph. But when I move cursor in Graph1, cursor in second graph moves but not to exact X value of Graph1.
Property of Cursor in both graphs must be "Lock to Plot"
If any body knows about this please let me know ASAP. I am attaching example VI for your reference.

It's a curious effect. Probably the floating point coordinate is sensitive to the exact pixel alignment (I mean that this would not happen if we had for example 1 pixel per point in the X direction).
Anyway, if you use Cursor Index instead (which is an integer) the behaviour is as expected.

Inserting Flash movies

I often insert .swf files in my html pages however, lately I
have been trying to insert flash movies in the middle of a bunch of
text. I do something similar with and then, using the property
inspector's align dialog box, I either set the image to be on the
right, the left, or one of the other options. By doing that, the
image looks the way I want it to with the text wrapping around it.
I see that the same type of options appear in the property
inspector when I insert a .swf file but I don't get the desired
result as I do with images. The only way I can fake the look I want
is by putting the flash movie in it's own cell in a table and
breaking up the text above,below or next to the movie the best way
that I can but this is not reliable and I sometimes end up with too
much white space. Is there a parameter I need to set or a style to
add to the swf object? I'd appreciate any suggestions.Thank
you.

Skipping in one part when i play my movie in the dvd player

i've created a one hour movie. in the middle it skips about ten seconds. this only happens on dvd players. a few times it didn't skip. when i rewind i can see the footage that it skips. i've tried re-capturing the footage as well as using different media. any ideas?

Welcome to the forums.
If it is skipping in exactly the same spot with different media, that would be a bit odd. Often, playback problems are caused by too many errors created during the burning process or caused by bad media. Sounds like you've eliminated the media problem (Vebatim is often recommended, I like Sony also). To address burning problems, save your iDVD project as a Disc Image (a virtual DVD). You can play/check this file, and then copy it to actual media using Roxio Toast or Apple's Disk Utility. It's often recommended to burn at slower speeds to reduce errors; I go as low as 2x and don't have any problems.
