Y R Logic sounds in iTunes ?

I had to clean/wipe my OSX HD1 because of problems and re-installed Logic 8. And after using it for a week or so, I noticed that iTunes was getting all these strange song pieces kinda at the end of my iTunes list. some were half a second to 2 ~5 seconds long. Then I noticed that some were parts of my guitar, bass etc. How did they get into iTunes? I remember that happening before and I deleted all those files...and when I went to play GB or Logic found that they couldn't find those instruments. Ummmm strange. If I load a Logic song I see the four or five tracks but those sounds (for ex. xrc guitar) can't be found. Some of my Logic songs have 4~8 tracks and most don't have any sound. A few do...
So, 1) How did these sounds get into iTunes? (If I look in the iTunes folder) all those strange instruments etc. are not shown. My iTunes folder ends with the last CD in my iTunes music folder. Whewwww there must be at least a few thousand of these sounds and I know they are pieces of songs that I've made using Logic... Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks really would appreciate it.

Hi,
Sorry, that icon is an Airplay icon even though I do not have Apple TV. I have my stereo speakers connected to my Airport Express and can play audio on those speakers from iTunes or any other audio source on the Macbook Pro, as well as from iOS devices. See this page for more info. It is for Mavericks but probably OK for Yosemite.
If you do not have such a setup that is probably why you don't have the icon.
Your audio interface could be the cause of not getting sound from iTunes. Have you tried Option-clicking on the speaker icon at top right of your computer screen and see what is selected in Output. If you select Internal Speakers you should get sound from iTunes or from websites, or anywhere on your computer. You can also do that in System Prefs > Sound > Output.

If you are sure that you have sound in other apps - and if you can still hear keyboard clicks and get notifications, then system sounds are not muted. Try this and see if it works.
Close all apps completely and reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Screensaver, system sounds and itunes problem

I did all the updates and even used migration assistant so my computer has been through allot already. I do not know which update affected my screen saver and optical audio but my screen saver is having the same issue with two monitors. My VGA monitor displays photos when the screen saver kicks in but my macbook just says looking for pictures. I tried reseting pram, repairing permissions and "safe boot" but nothing works. My optical audio somehow messes with my system sounds and iTunes on first song or podcast played. Sometimes the progress bar will freeze and I can't move it.(the time counter for a track in iTunes). The system sound works off and on when I use optical audio out to my stereo receiver. I talked to apple care and the genius bar and they said I might need to archive and install from the recovery discs that came with my computer. I think if I did that and did all the updates then the problem would return because I think it is a firmware or software update problem and not third party software interacting with the system.

iTunes shouldn't do that. Normally when iTunes finds that it would like to move/rename a file after download or a tag edit, and the filename it wants to use is already in use, it adds a " 1" or " 2" to the end of the filename. It does not overwrite the original file. In fact if it had reused the filename then there would be two entries in your library, which would both have the same information and content. Is this the case? How exactly is the title of the film spelt?
File & folder names are limited to 40 characters in Windows so I would expect (judging by the titles given in the store) to find the movies in a folder called:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - P
and to be called
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.m4v and
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallo 1.m4v
Hopefully you have a backup of the missing file as, in principle, you are only allowed to create one copy using the redemption code.

How do I get 5.1 sound from iTunes on my computer connected to Bose T20?

I have my computer connected to a Bose T20 with an HDMI cable. I can get surround sound with movies, but not with iTunes. I only get stereo instead of 5.1.
I also have Apple TV connected to Bose and can get surround sound from iTunes when piped through Apple TV. Bose has told me to check the sound settings on my computer which I have done. The sound settings have 5.1 enabled.

After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with system audio. You may want to consider a PRAM reset to address the issues you've described:
A small amount of your computer’s memory, called “parameter random-access memory” or PRAM, stores certain settings in a location that OS X can access quickly. The particular settings that are stored depend on your type of Mac and the types of devices connected to it. The settings include your designated startup disk, display resolution, speaker volume, and other information.
Note: To print these instructions, open Help Viewer’s Action pop-up menu (looks like a gear), then choose Print.
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Option, Command (⌘), P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on your Mac.
Immediately press and hold the Option-Command-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.Continue holding the keys down until your Mac restarts, and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.

Howdy. My Music player has stopped working, but regular sounds and iTunes samples still work?? Can anyone help.
Push the orange music button and the player opens, but when I push the play button nothing happens other than the pause icon comes up.
Both side volume and the onscreen volume read at full.

-restore ipod to latest ios if problems still happenes then it's a hardware problem nothing like a good old appointment at genuis bar would help.

How about going the other way around? I have both Logic and BITB, and exported MIDI from BITB and brought that into Logic, then tweaked from there to get good sounding instruments.
You could create a Logic song with your favorite instruments all set up, then import the Midi.. Should only take a few minutes to get a new arrangment up and running once it was done initially.

Does this thread sound right? I downloaded the guy's Logic file - can't get it to work. I don't understand the Environment well enough.

All you need to do is follow the instructions on the 37Hz blog post through Step 4. For each track you set up, make sure you set the MIDI channel (in the Track Parameter box in the Inspector) to match the corresponding channel in the BIAB MIDI setup.
Then forget about all that Environment stuff.
Follow Fred B's suggestion to enable Multiplayer Recording in Logic: Switch on the File > Project Settings > Recording > “Auto demix by channel if multitrack recording” option.
Then click the "R" button on each Logic track so that it glows red.
If it all goes correctly, you should be able to play a BIAB song and hear the instruments you selected in Logic.
Only problem I had was that this pushed the CPU pretty hard -- evidently a common issue when you use software instruments in Live Mode. I was getting dropouts and clicks. I solved this by switching from EXS instruments on each track to corresponding GarageBand instruments, which use less CPU power. Still sounds a lot better than the QuickTime instruments you are normally stuck with in BIAB.
Easier than it sounds. Give it a try. Good luck.

iTunes has worked fine for me until yesterday. After I installed Yahoo IM I now have no sound in iTunes. I've checked all of the PC and iTunes volume settings a dozen times, everything looks good on the sound card setup. I uninstalled Yahoo IM and it still isn't working. Can someone help?

Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Back to Safari. Press Command + Option + E to empty the Safari cache.
Quit and relaunch Safari, try a video.

here's the catch.
This is on my work station that has windows 2003 installed.
I am running i-tunes 6.0.4.2
the first thing i usually try on a "no sound" with 6.0.4.2 is a careful standalone QT reinstall.
but there's a new issue afoot where people with x64 versions of Windows (XP or Server) who have Windows Update KB908531 installed can't do a QT 7.1 or 7.0.4 reinstall without erroring out with an 0x80040707.

so what i don't want to do is to take you from a "no sound in itunes" to a "no functional QT or itunes on the PC".
so, before we proceed, could you check for me if you've got an x64 version of Server, or a more standard one?

Annoying squeaking sound in itunes

Can someone tell me how to turn off this annoying squeaking sound in itunes? It drives me insane! You hear it whenever you click on a song, album, playlist, etc. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
