Y40-70 Low GPU usage and laggy in GTA5 under Windows 10

By using the newest AMD 15.7.1 driver on AMD R9 M275 video card,  GTA5 have steady fps when the scene does not change or changing slowly, but it gets laggy as hell when the scene change fast such as driving, like the fps would instant drop to 8~15 fps when the scene change fast and instand back above 30fps if you stop or slow down driving. from GPU-Z , it shown that the GPU load is very low, which is below 40% all the time. But under windows 8.1 with the AMD  15.7.1 driver , GTA5 wont lag with the same in game setting.  besides the random GPU frequency drop under 400Mhz problem, GTA5 runs smooth in WIndow8.1 right now. Lenovo fix this annoying sht.

Okay. so I toke the benchmark with the following results:
I noticed (as you can see) my fps dropped sometimes when it changed scenes..
And during the benchmark, the usage was at 99% for the most...
The game I am currently playing is Arma 3... Which has the low gpu/cpu usage..
And thanks a lot for your quick answer!

  • MSI R9 270X HAWK low GPU usage and screen flickering problem

I bought an MSI R9 270X HAWK vga and I have this screen flickering issue.
    My S/N: 602-V303-02SB1310009419
I also had another problem: the GPU usage averages at 50-55% on every game (DX9,10,11 games like TESV Skyrim, League of Legends, Crysis 2-3, Battlefield 2-3, Far Cry 3) and never reaches more than 80%(well, once I made it run at 99%, I used ultra settings on Battlefield 4 with Sync on, Ultra preset settings with 200% res. scale so pretty much the maxed out Settings). I'm using this card with 8GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance RAM with a stock clocked 1090T and AMD's reply for this problem was, that this problem can be driver problem as well as VBIOS.

I created a bootable usb, placed the files in it (formated, and only these files were at the usb, dos startup directed to win98boot's folder (C:\win98boot) renamed the tv303ms.134 to tv303ms.rom,l after i placed it on the usb and in the boot menu there are four additional options related to the USB (there's no USB only option): FDD, HDD, CDROM, zip. Selecting the FDD and CDROM starts the windows normally, The HDD option ended on the white-black screen, and there's where I can write:   C:\>
after this i tried to type in: atiflash.exe TV303MS.rom [enter] nothing happened, then atiflash.exe [enter] and popped up some help instructions for the use of atiflash, I pressed enter over and over and then requested another command, I tiped in the tv303ms.rom [enter] and again nothing happened (invalid command I think). What should I do now ? I did some research but still can't figure out what the problem is. :/ (If I done everything correct, maybe the problem related to my motherboard or USB stick?)

  • MSI r7970 lightning low gpu usage.

Hi guys. I play battlefield 4 and i have low gpu usage, around 60-70%. With low usage i have low fps. I thought it is CPU problem, but i think it shouldn't be, because it is i5 2500k clocked at 4.2Ghz. Can someone help or it is maybe driver/game bug or something.

I use latest beta. I remembered i didn't Intel inf drivers after reinstalling my windows few days ago , i might try that now.
Edit: I installed all new drivers and all i could think of, but all the same. Usage too low.

  • Low GPU Usage with 780 Ti (Adaptive to whats being rendered)

Received this card 2 days ago, and have been trying to fix this issue since I got it. In games, the GPU usage is never consistent, and will stay the same if I'm not moving or looking around. Turning around by say 45 degrees will cause the GPU usage to change to something different. My friend also purchased a 780 Ti a few days ago, but from Gigabyte. His GPU usage during games is always around 100%. His performance is amazing because of it, while mine can be pretty bad at times.
I've already tried a lot of different things to try and fix it, but nothing has worked so far. Here's a list of some of the things I've already tried.
1 Updated BIOS, and disabled any power saving settings.
2 Used K-Boost, and then disabled it.
3 Set NCP 3d settings to prefer maximum performance.
4 Used Nvidia's Inspector tool to manually change those options again.
5 Tried giving it a higher power percentage.
6 Switched the power cables for different ones.
7 Switched it to a different PCI slot.
8 Disabled all software for startup.
9 Gone through and made sure AMD files were completely gone.
10 Forced constant voltage using MSI Afterburner.
    11 Disconnected my second monitor.

I bought MSI 770GTX Gaming 2GB few months ago. Now i`m playing Crysis 3 and occasionally my GPU usage drops to 45%-50%. It happends on same places, like in first scene when climbing up the stairs. I go up, GPU Usage drops to 45% for 1-2 scs and stuff like that. Now I wonder is anyone else experiencing same symptoms,  and what can I do to solve this problem? I`m using latest drivers, 331.82. I registered my card, and updated BIOS from your support site. Temperatures are <70c, nowhere near power limit so that can`t be causing low gpu drops. I did fresh Windows install but it didn`t help. Didn`t try older drivers yet.

I have the same card and had a lot of similar issues to this especially in crisis 3.
I seemed to resolve the issues by removing the Nvidia audio drivers and the MSI gaming app, then I  reinstalled the NVidia drivers as a clean install without the audio driver.  I didn't reinstall the gaming app as when I did the issue comes back

  • 6950 Twin Frozr III/PE, Low FPS, Low GPU usage

I could use some help, I've tried everything I can think of and no luck so far so maybe someone here can help. I spent all weekend trying to fix it with no luck.
I am having issues with my MSI 6950 Twin Frozr III/Power Edition cards. When playing a games my GPU usage never seems to get above 50%. I've tried each card individually and in crossfire but it never seems to make a difference. My frame rates fluctuate between 70 and 20 FPS while the GPU load fluctuates between 30-50%. Crossfire or not the frame rates and GPU usage stays about the same, never using more than 60% of the GPU. I only recently began seeing issues but I don't remember exactly when it started.
    Hardware tried:
MSI 6950 Twin Frozr III/Power Edition (not flashed to 6970)
    AMD Phenom II x6 1090T @4.0GHz
    MSI 890FXA-GD70
    16GB Mushkin DDR3 1600
    Mushkin SATA III SSD
    NZXT HALE90 850W PSU
    14x FN 120RB 120mm fans
Aquacomputer Airplex Radiator with built in D5 Pump
    i7-2600K @4.6GHz
    ASUS P8P67 Pro
    16GB Corsair DDR3 1600
    OCZ Vertex 3 SSD
    SeaSonic X750 Gold 750W
    Corsair H60
Things I've tried (tried with both cards individually and in crossfire with no change, and in both systems, and various combinations)
    -Current Drivers 12.10
    -Rolling drivers back to 11.11
    -Beta 12.11 Drivers
-Set constant voltage in Afterburner (heard that was causing conflict problems between Afterburner and CCC)
-Tried switching the cards between my 1090T @4.0GHz and my i7-2600K @4.6GHz and no change (both CPUs stay at around 60-70% so I dont think thats the bottleneck)
    -Set power tune to +20%
-Tried clean install of windows 7 and no change
-Checked both PSUs with tester and both check out fine (not sure if the load is too much for them though)
Games that I've tried (with issues):
    -Borderlands 2
    -Hawken
    -Dishonord
    -Skyrim
    -Dirt 3
    -Saints Row 3
-Need for Speed: Most Wanted (always been bad but doesn't seem to be made any worse like the others)
I'm getting very discouraged and really hoping my graphics cards aren't going bad (they are only a year old). Any help is greatly appreciated.

can you test either of the card in another PC?
have you tried to turn off the vsync?

  • New MSI 670 PE GTX low GPU usage

Just got my MSI 670 PE from newegg yesterday.  Doing some tests on 3dmark vantage in performance preset ( default that every bench uses) and my GPU usage drops to 40%, quite often, especially during intense graphic areas.  It also does this in other games as well -- Crysis 2, Bf3.
I watched some youtube videos of others with this card and they did not have these issues.
Using MSI afterburner for OSD.  310.90 Drivers (tried 310.70 as well).
    Could i have received a faulty card?  Might I be having a CPU bottleneck?  My CPU is a Athlon 2 x4 640 @ 3ghz. MSI 870-g45 motherboard, 4gb 1600 ram.
    Thanks.

  • Firefox causing high GPU usage and fluctuations

I have an NVIDIA GTX 440 graphics card and I like to monitor its speeds and tempratures.
Ive noticed whenever using firefox even when im just scrolling down a page my gpu clock will shoot up to max (822 mhz) and this will of course cause the fan to speed up and make noise.
Its kind of annoying cause when im not scrolling its on idle and quiet, and then I scroll down and suddenly it shoots up. Basically its making my gpu go from max to low constantly and I dont think thats very good for my gpu.
Is there anyway to fix this? I dont see why firefox needs max speed from the GPU.

There should be an issue in bugzilla for this. It's obvioulsy coding defects. Chrome utilize GPU 3-4 times less than Firefox and works smoother. IE10 utilize GPU 10-13 times less than Firefox and works even more smoother than Chrome.

  • Beachballing and extreme GUI latency with low CPU usage

I generally only have two applications open.  iTunes 11 playing MP3s of about 128kbps, and latest Google Chrome with up to 4-5 tabs.  Usually I have gmail open, Facebook, and maybe 1-2 sites such as YouTube or Slashdot.  I don't have any servers running.
The CPU load is usually 90% idle.  The system load hovers around 1.5 for some reason.  Though at times it jumps up to 3.5 even though CPU remains at 90% idle.  I read a ton of Facebook pages.  After about 30-40 page loads, Chrome stops letting me scroll.  I can still click in the address bar, so I know the whole system isn't frozen.  I can change tasks via ALT-TAB, however, when I do that, it takes 10 seconds for it to switch to Terminal.  When Termianl is finally shown, it jumps to 90% CPU for a few seconds, and updates 5 times in a row, quickly, like a stuttering video, and then it is normal.  If I activate Expose by moving the mouse to the bottom left corner, it shows the Dock right away, but then it just sits there frozen for 15 seconds, and then it shows the windows and whatnot.  If I switch to the Finder and click on an icon, it doesn't do anything.  I then click on another icon.  Nothing.  I then try to draw a bounding square on the empty desktop.  Nothing.  Then after about 30 seconds of being frozen, the system does EVERYTHING I did in a quick hurry.  It selects the first icon, the second, draws a square, selects another icon.. etc.  It seems to be queueing all my actions but not responding to them immediately.  If I try to delete a file, the beachball shows up, and then after about 30 seconds it shows a progress bar, even for a tiny little text file, the progress bar takes 5 seconds, and then it removes it from the desktop.  If I press Mac-T to open a new tab in Chrome, I get a beachball and it takes up to a full minute before the new tab shows up!
While all of this is happening I've been monitoring my system with top, the CPU keeps at 90% idle!  And the load is usually below 2.0!  I have a Core 2 Duo 2.1 gHz MacBook 13" with 2GB of RAM, and there's about 25 GB free on the main disk.  There is also an external firewire drive connected.  Every 5 minutes the Mac OS wakes up the drive from sleep even though I'm not using it, and while the drive is starting up the whole system freezes for 5-10 seconds again!!
What the **** kinda joke of an operating system is this?!?!!?  I thought Macs were multitasking and everything!  I'm seriously concerned.... I"ve never had these problems in Windows, and never had these problems in Linux.  ***?!!!?!  I can't use more than 5 tabs in Chrome either.  It's way too slow.  And most videos on YouTube I can't watch unless I lower to 340p or 240p, otherwise they freeze and stuff.  Even though I have enough bandwdith..  The system can't handle the video.  It's so frustrating.  Oh and one more thing.  While scrolling through pages on Facebook, iTunes pauses at random points as if it can't handle the scrolling.... ***??!?!?!
    Please help me!!!

Hello? Does anyone from Adobe know why this is happening?
I understand why frames would be dropped if you set high
quality and your CPU can't encode in real time however the 30% cpu
usage I am getting while encoding isn't indicating to me I have a
    cpu issue.
Also as a note when I change the quality settings at no point
can I get my CPU to actually get busy enough where I think frames
    should be dropping.
Another side question. Is FME mult-threaded? We all know dual
cores are popular now. Also when I say 30% if its a single threaded
    app, that would mean 100% = 2 cores, 50% = 1 core, so 30% of of
that 100% would be all on one core if its a single threaded
    application.
This would mean perhaps the utilization is higher than
expected and frames are dropping perhaps.
    Any insight would be great.
    Thanks and take care.

  • My battery runs low very fast (three hours). I looked in the usage settings and it seems the time for usage and stand-by are the same, allthough i did have my iphone on stand-by!! What can i do?

    Community,
I have a problem with my iphone 4. Every few months my battery starts draining within a few hours. I have tried all kinds of battery saving tips, but they don't help. When i go to the settings/general/usage is can see that the time for Usage and Stand-by are the same, so my phone is fully on all the time this explains the draining. But in reallity i turn my phone to stand-by most of the time, i mean the screen is black and all???
The first and second time a had this problem, both a few months a part,  i restored my phone and it was solved. This time i restored my phone but this did not help!! And restoring my phone every two months is not my preferd way of solving this problem.
Does anybody have an idea on how to solve this problem? can anybody help me?
    best regards,
    Merijn

Restoring is the answer. It sounds as if there is a rogue process constantly draining your battery.
The issue you face is that, if you restore your backup thereafter, you risk the problem coming straight back with your files.
Store your files individually and it is time to start fresh.

  • Gpu usage.

    Hello,
Unsure if i can or not. But i am looking to lower the gpu usage ingame on my 670 PE. As i can't even play WoW (other games too) without the gpu running at 99% usage and sounding like a jet engine. been trying to put up with it but alas. I'm almost at my limit. Only good thing coming out of this is that i never need my heating on when this baby is running at a constant 83c

    @flobelix: proof?
I can proove my statement. In many games whenever I turn on V-sync and the game is higher than 60 FPS (for example - World of Tanks, average 75-80 FPS = 80% GPU usage - after turning VsyncOn: 50-60% GPU usage) it works.
So isn't it actually limiting GPU usage? Or what am I limiting? The readings are wrong? It's obvious that if You get higher FPS and u cap them Your card doesn't have to perform as hard as without the limit - it's a matter of frames it has to render. At least to me it is
Offcourse - if Your card can't perform >60FPS it won't work as intended.

  • How can I optimize my hard disk drive usage and performance in Windows 8 or Windows 7?

QuestionHow can I optimize my hard disk drive usage and performance in Windows 8 or Windows 7?
AnswerThere are a few simple steps you can take to ensure your hard disk drive is used optimally.
    Use Toshiba HDD Protection
Many Toshiba laptops come with a program called Toshiba HDD Protection pre-installed. This program helps to protect your hard disk drive from being damaged due to falls or impacts. By default, it should already be enabled. You might be tempted to lower the detection levels in this application, but doing so could cause your hard disk drive to be damaged. Remember that while the application can reduce the chance of damage, you should still avoid allowing the laptop to fall or suffer rapid impacts.
For more information on this utility, see the following article:
    TOSHIBA HDD Protection
    Optimize the drive
Windows 8 and Windows 7 optimize hard disk drives automatically through a process called defragmentation. Unless you've disabled this, you don't need to do anything. If you have disabled this and want to run the process, you can still do so.
In Windows 8, search for "Defrag" at the Windows Start screen and select "Defragment and optimize your drives."
In Windows 7, search for "Defrag" in the Start Menu's search field and select "Disk defragmenter."
You can use this tool to optimize your hard disk drives, allowing Windows to find needed files faster.
    Remove items from startup
Some applications run automatically when Windows starts. This can add additional functionality, but it also decreases the performance of your computer. Sometimes you might want to disable certain programs from starting automatically.
In Windows 8, search for "Task Manager" at the Start screen. Select the "Startup" tab. Select an application you'd like to disable from starting automatically and then click the "Disable" button in the lower-right.
In Windows 7, type "msconfig" in the Start Menu's search field and press ENTER. Uncheck the boxes next to applications you'd like to disable from starting automatically.
You should be sure of the purpose of an application before disabling it from starting automatically. Some applications might be important. If in doubt, you might consider searching on the Web to discover more information about a program. Remember that if you find that you disabled something vital, you can always re-enable it.
