Y510p bios freezes

Hello there,
As from recently when i go inside bios of y510p it freezes after second or two. It does that everytime i get inside.
I noticed that when i tried to install fresh/format windows 7 and must enable prior booting from CD.
Should i update my bios to the newest version. Curently i have the 3.05

Does the freezing go away after a few seconds or is it permanent? If it starts working after a few seconds it should be fine.

  • Can`t open password tab to set a supervisor password in security menu of BIOS. BIOS freezes

few days ago I bought one Thinkpad T60. All is fully functional excepting of one issue with BIOS password. It seems there is no password set previously since I can entry the BIOS menu and set all particular entries w/o any problem. Hovewer when I come to the point to set a BIOS password, the BIOS freezes suddently. Can anybody know what could be the reason for that? Is there some solution how to fix it? Thanks

Also just to clarify, reflashing a bios chip won't change the password or remove it, but if the chip is reburnned, which is often done when remanufacturing a board the entire chip's data is replaced. I don't know if this is possible or not, but since you suspected the system was "hacked", it is possible someone improperly reburned the wrong data onto the chip making the supervisor password option non operational. If (and I do stress the "if") this is the problem, then you can get the board repaired. This type of repair is often required if a bios flash is interrupted and the system becomes unusable, and usually costs $100-200.
Your best option might be to just use the system for what it is, or just replace the system board and be done with it.

  • BIOS freeze

    Hi,
We've got a computer blocked at the BIOS splash screen. No function keys work, we can't enter into the BIOS settings.
    I tried :
    - Unplug AC power a long time
    - Unplug AC power and remove the motherboard battery
    - Unplug AC power and hold the Power button 15-20 seconds, 3 times
The best result we've got is a memory test before the BIOS freeze.
    The BIOS version is 786F3 v1.34 (07/09/2012)
    The product number is RV724AV
    Can it be solved ?

  • Bios freezes on Hp IPISB-CH2 with new graphic card installed

I own HP Pavilion Elite HPE H8 1010cs. Motherboard is HP IPISB-CH2. I bought new graphic card GAINWARD Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB together with 600W PSU Corsair CX600M. First I tried my new PSU with my old GPU nvidia 550Ti. It worked perfectly. But when I replaced old card with new GTX 970, bios freezes on the first power on window. Escape does not work. Should I return new graphic card, or is there still some hope in this?
    This question was solved.

    Hello @Tomas83,
I understand that you are having issues getting your HP Pavilion HPE h8-1010cs Desktop PC towork with your Gainward GeForce® GTX 970 Phantom 4GB Graphics Card. I believe the reason you are experiencing this issue is the the break in the downward compatibility on the PCIe slots was broken at around the Gen 2.1 mark and you are trying to put a Gen 3.0 card in a Gen 1.0 slot. This in essence makes your computer incompatible with the graphics card you have chosen to use.  I am providing you an article on the overclock.net website titled The final answer to the controversial PCIe x16 version compatibility., where the author explains what I described and goes into how he made the determination. I would advise you review the article if you have any questions concerning the issue you are facing.
I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • BIOS Freezing on a Z77A-GD65

Hello, was wondering if someone can help me out with my situation.
Just purchased a Z77A-GD65 along with a 2500K and the bios freezes every time shortly after I enter it (cursor and arrow keys doesn't work) but the temperature monitor still shows the 1-2 degree changes in the CPU temperature.
Edit, forgot to mention, I'm not trying to OC it a lot at the moment, it even freezes when I have it at 3.5ghz, and it also happens when I use OC Genie to OC it.
    Specs:
Patriot Viper Xtreme 8gb 1866 kit
    Corsair TX850M
    I5 2500K
    EVGA 560ti
    Coolermaster 212 evo heatsink
    Thanks in advance

Running memtest as I'm typing this on my netbook. It didn't give me much time to revert to default settings as it freezes 1~2 seconds after I load into bios. Heck, it even froze when I had the cpu at the stock clock of 3.3.

  • Re: install of 80gig drive into a MS-5187 bios freezes

I am trying to install a WD800JB hard drive into my Borther-in-law's computer which has a
MS-5187 mainboard. When I re-start the computer the drive is recognized as a slave, but the bios freezes just before boot to WinXP. On the screen is a chart in the bios screen with the installation. However by the new drive there is only the following "UDMA,4" but no indication of the drive size whereas the older drive indicates the size of the drive. How do I solve the issue of the new install? Do I flash the bios or do I install a PCI/IDE contoller card? I tried using the MSI liveupdate and it indicates that I have the latest bios an Award 4.51PG. Help please.
    Thanks Don

Yes WD does say in the personalized setup manual produced with their version of Data Lifeguard that the Award 4.51 BIOS can be an issue. Their advice is an updated BIOS or to manual limit the drive's capacity to 32Gigs which to me seems pointless since it is a 80Gig drive that was purchased for it's capacity as stated. I downloaded the BIOS fix from the suggested link, but am unsure of how to do this sort of procedure. Everyone I have talked to concurs that a BIOS update is risky. As for the cable I tried my own cable because it came with my WD drive and still that did not work. As for the jumper selection I tried every possible configuration to no avail.

  • Unable to Load Windows After System Restore from BIOS freeze

I have a pavilion G6 that froze after a BIOS Update ran. Here's what happened and here is what I did:
Uninstalled HP printer software; upon reboot, BIOS Update appeared and ran.
Upon reboot, Win 7 froze @ Welcome screen.
I was instructed this am on this forum to press F8 and do a system restore, which I did.
This appeared to work until about 30 mins ago when it began freezing again and opening to Safe Mode screen.
    Now what??

    Hi
    Workaround:
There are few steps that has worked for few but not always..
Restart and tap F2.  F2  will show an option “BIOS Management” . Select BIOS Management and then select “Roll Over to the previous BIOS”
BIOS Management option will not be available if the system do not have HP_Tools partition installed or if it is deleted.
Fix if BIOS Management is not available
    i)                    Press and Hold the Windows Key and B key at the same time when the system is turned off or follow the steps from this link: Recovering the BIOS using key press combination
iii)                 Shutdown the Notebook. Remove the Hard Drive and then turn the computer ON and tap F10 to load BIOS. If it loads BIOS then it should rollback to previous BIOS or it might show a black screen. Just leave the system ON for about 2-3 mins and turn it on with the hard drive and check.
If none of the above worked then most likely we need to bench the notebook as system will not boot from recovery discs.
Let us know how it goes!

  • Y510p Bios mod, Best unlocked bios settings.

Im starting this thread so that for all who have unlocked their bios for wirelesscard whitelist removal or what ever, using the link on techInferno using svl7 mod can have a guide as to what settings can be used to improve the performance of their y510p and what settings to stay away from.  For those who have difficulties in retrieving the files from techInfernos website can pm me. Any and all suggestions and requests are welcome. Happy modding.

    Hi shfearon
    Thanks for the BIOS files.
I also posted on TI but as you know, no one is reviewing my posts (genuine). Could you please download and provide the VBIOS file as well please, they are in the following thread in second post.
    http://forum.techinferno.com/lenovo-ibm/4668-lenovo-y410p-y510p-unlocked-bios-wlan-whitelist-mod-vbios-mod.html

Also, I have another question -
Can I just flash  the VBIOS? I dont need the BIOS unlocked, just the options that VBIOS can provide to play around with the voltages and settings of the Ultrabay GPU.
Thanks again and here is a Kudo for your efforts.

  • GOTOBIOS enabled but BIOS freezes on Z97 U3 Plus Board

I have two MSI Z97 U3 Plus boards and both have GOTOBIOS enabled in BIOS so that if one  holds down the start button for 2-4 seconds on the case, it will boot right into BIOS.   It works great on the first board but the second board the mouse arrow freezes when entering BIOS this way.  Any ideas?
If I enter BIOS the normal way, mouse arrow does not freeze and I can change any settings.  Like I said, one board works fine, but the second board does not.

  • Random Entering Bios Freezing ?

Hi lately I been have having random freezing as I try to inter bios it will stay froze on the system info screen and will not inter bios it will take a few resets to get in and at times it will give me a Warning of Bad OC and reset everything to stock i have stress tested and pass a 1hr test could it be that i need more CPU-V or do i have something else happening ? Thanks

    Quote
why you say go back to stock?
He told you to revert to stock/non-oc settings to find out if your problem is OC related or not.  In the former case, your OC settings are perhaps not stable.  In the latter case, the cause must be elsewhere (some other BIOS Setting (improper memory settings), a temperature problem, a PSU problem or something else is broken,

  • K7N2 Bios Freezes

This morning I needed to reboot due to some misc. problems in Win2k but upon reboot the bios screen froze on the cpu detection (it detected the cpu correctly). The keyboard doesn't work and multiple attempts to restart, power down, clear the cmos, unplug the power supply and push power-on multiple times - have all done nothing. I made no recent changes to my PC. I was going to flash the bios with the latest version but that won't work since I can't get far enough for the floppy to be detected. This configuration has been running for about 6 months now and during that time I've only added a new 120gb hd and a dvd burner.

    Is my mobo toast?

Here's an update: I pulled one of the Valueram sticks out and I was able to boot fine. I figured it was a stick that went bad that I would just replace under warranty but....
I went away for a week and had my PC off the entire time. Upon returning I discovered my PC wouldn't boot again - freezes at BIOS, only this time it shows my cpu as an XP 1800+ when it's really an XP 2400+. Last time the bios froze it showed correctly.
So figuring it was RAM again I went and bought a single 512 stick of Corsair PC2700 and  popped it in and I still have the same problem. I'd rather not keep buying hardware until I find the problem. The d-bracket still shows "Processor Initialization".   Any ideas?

  • P55-GD65 BIOS FREEZE

    Hi!
Ive been running my P55-GD65 for almost an year no with only the problem of "dual-booting" I turn computer on it turns itself off and then it goes on again and works normally, that has something to do with overclocking and I have the TURBO on with my i5 so I didnt mind that, and the another "problem" was that I couldnt reboot computer normally I had to turn it off and turn on again because I have the memory set to 1T.
But today, the computer freezed on BIOS after detecting hard drives. When I turned the computer off and on again it worked normally, but it dual-booted. (Dual-booting happens like 1/4)
""Press DEL to Bios and F11 to Boot menu 0085 0087 "" was the last text on the screen when it freezed.
Should I start panicking? Or was it just some random freeze, because the temps here are pretty icy, CPU 30C and HDDs vary from 16 to 30C.
Any ideas? Should I set the memory to 2T next time I boot?

    I see.

So, should I put the MHz back to 1333 and Command rate to 2T next time I boot?
Yes, and run it at 9-9-9-24 1.5v.
Disconnect that Seagate hard drive and see if you have any problems still. Looks like that drive could be failing though. A failing hard drive can certainly cause problems on start-up.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-3071tx bios freezes after bios flash

I updated my BIOs to http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55299.exe
Now it freezes at the BIOs on boot. I think it's due to a bad flash. I want to reflash it and I've followed the instructions where I place the BIOS file 01448F29.bin onto a usb stick named HP_TOOLS and held down Windows Key + B, however it just stays on a black screen.

  • K8N Diamond Plus- bios freeze & question about temp/voltage monitor

A weird issue I had right after I setup my mobo last night was that I could not access the "PC Health" portion of the bios.  If I tried selecting it, it would just freeze.  Is this a known issue?  I'm hoping a bios update may solve this one.  Does anyone know anything about this?

Well I was mostly just asking if this was a known issue, so I guess "no" is all the answer I need...  Now, what would be my best solution?  I am assuming bios update, is there anything else that I should consider?
But if it helps, as I said its a brand new build, so I'm running the default bios. 1.00.  My other components are:  Silverstone Zeus 560w, 2GB of G.Skill pc4000, Raptor 74gb, 7900gtx, Opteron 165.
Also, since my other thread was locked (I figured seperating two different topics would make it easier for people to respond to specific questions, I apologize,) here's my other question pasted:
"I just set up my new system with this motherboard (K8N Diamond Plus,) an Opteron 165, Scythe Mine heatsink, and a Silverstone Zeus 560w. Its these components that lead to my question-
I am getting temps of about 31C idle, 41C load.  Nice temps yes, but I'm not sure how accurate those are.  That means that it is idling at 86F in a room that was probably in the high 70's, maybe 80.  Seems a little too good to be true, but then again, I am used to Intel's furnace-like temps
Its the voltage reading that has me a bit more concerned though.  Corecenter is reading my +5v as 5.36v, and my +12v as 12.28v.  The +3.3v is reading about spot-on at 3.33v.  I'm hoping that someone else who has this motherboard can tell me this- are the readings in Corecenter for this motherboard generally accurate, and should I be concerned about this?"
Thanks for any help you can give.  No sig yet because I just registered an hour ago, I'll work on it.
