Y510p Bios mod, Best unlocked bios settings.

Im starting this thread so that for all who have unlocked their bios for wirelesscard whitelist removal or what ever, using the link on techInferno using svl7 mod can have a guide as to what settings can be used to improve the performance of their y510p and what settings to stay away from.  For those who have difficulties in retrieving the files from techInfernos website can pm me. Any and all suggestions and requests are welcome. Happy modding.

Hi shfearon
Thanks for the BIOS files.
I also posted on TI but as you know, no one is reviewing my posts (genuine). Could you please download and provide the VBIOS file as well please, they are in the following thread in second post.
http://forum.techinferno.com/lenovo-ibm/4668-lenovo-y410p-y510p-unlocked-bios-wlan-whitelist-mod-vbios-mod.html
I think these are the files -
http://forum.techinferno.com/attachments/lenovo-ibm/12111d1406408972-ultra-bay-vbios-%5Bv3.05%5D_modified.zip
Also, I have another question -
Can I just flash  the VBIOS? I dont need the BIOS unlocked, just the options that VBIOS can provide to play around with the voltages and settings of the Ultrabay GPU.
Thanks again and here is a Kudo for your efforts.

  • REQ - MSI U270 BIOS mod with unlocked UEFI option

Hi guys, I'm new to this board.
I've searched everywhere and couldn't find any MSI U270 BIOS mods. I'm trying to upgrade to the Windows 8 BIOS, but since the update package can only be used under UEFI mode, I'd have to enable UEFI in my BIOS. BUT, there isn't an option to do that, and there isn't a DOS version of the BIOS update either.
    Thanks in advance.

unlocked bios won't help you with this

  • Does HP offer an unlocked bios for entertainment notebooks?

Model is a dv6 3240ca entertainment notebook. Bios is up to to date with v. f.29. The settings are super limted. About the only thng it offers is USB boot option and hardware scanning.
My other notebook, a probook 4510s has a much more dynamic bios with many more options.
Is there a download available for the dv6 with unlocked bios?
I am very reluctant to resort to mods as I've heard many horror stories!
    Thanks

  • GX70-3BE unlocked BIOS | split

    Hello Svet, hello forum Members.
I bought gx70 3be few months ago, and because of bf4 I would like to oc it a bit.
Unfortunately the bios is locked like in most laptops Ive encountered in my life.
Is it possible to get from one of you, an unlocked w7 x64  version of the bios?
I would really appreciate a possibility to turn off the integrated 8650G graphics card, since I have some minor problems with bf4 recognizing the dedicated 8970m card.
Also about all other benefits of fully unlocked bios I dont have to say...
Second thing is vbios for the 8970m but first i would like to focus on the motherboard.
I've read about Svet's unlocking tool and its support for msi gaming notebooks, but unfortunately there is no support for amd based products.
I have some experience in modding and oc'ing desktops but making a custom bios for a laptop is way out of my league.
So is it possible to get some help from you, my donation number is 8SM53711DF612684L
Also yesterday i have flashed my bios with E176KAMS.10F from the msi website and since Im running w7 x64 ultimate i would like to stick with this version of the bios.
    Best Regards

The notebook support list is only related to recently added newest feature "MSI EC-FW Editor",
which edit the EC firmwares of the listed msi notebooks.
About vbios, only Nvidia cards are supported. AMD/ATI not

  • Change the already installed Win 8.1 BIOS mode from Legacy to UEFI

    Hey,
It seems that my Windows 8.1 is installed in BIOS mode: Legacy as "msinfo32.exe" shows. I can boot into it with no issue, but when I go to my laptop's BIOS settings and change the mode back to UEFI, it gives me an error "Operating system not
found" (not sure about the exact error message).
I am just wondering if it is possible to change the Windows 8.1 BIOS mode to UEFI so when I change the laptop's BIOS settings back to UEFI, it can boot into it?
    Regards.

    Hi Amin CiscoSoft,
Since UEFI mode need an EFI system partition (ESP) which has the partition type ef00, usually contains a FAT32 file system. We need to recreate the partitions needed for booting the installation media in UEFI mode.
Before you doing that we VERY recommended for you to read all contents including Prerequisites and warring paragraph in links below, then perform a backup of your data. If you have a second disk drive big enough, you can simply create a system image and
able to recover the full installation as it was before you started this procedure if anything goes wrong.
Since the steps are complicated, please follow the steps in

  • Questions Regarding Unlocked BIOS

Hi guys, i have some doubts on using the unlocked BIOS. Therefore, it would be great if someone can enlighten me before proceeding further.
    My questions are as follow:
1)Will using unlocked BIOS affect my laptop hardware or software?
    2)Would it void my warranty?
3)What these unlocked BIOS can do for us?Example, maybe?

to 1: nope, but you can clarify more what exactly you mean by this
to 2: if something goes bad due using of modded BIOS it can void your warranty
to 3: unlocked BIOS ==> it will un-hide all possible BIOS options which specified bios has
this also can include possible vbios unlock for those GPU cards which vbios is part of vbios,
where by vbios unlock is assumed to extend the +135 MHz GPU core OC software limits
beside from this,[unlock bios] they are also many different possible bios customizations that can be done
if you are looking for something specified, you can tell, then i would check if its possible to be done by me or not

  • [REQ] CX640 Unlocked BIOS

    Hello Svet,
I found an older thread for the same model (CX640) here:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=157646.0
I am curious to know if this custom BIOS was successfully implemented?
    I recently purchased a refurbished CX640 with a 3 month warranty.
It came pre-installed with Windows 7, but I prefer Vista so I clean
installed Vista Ultimate 64 bit. Everything works except for the hybrid graphics 520m NVIDIA card
(Code 10 error in device manager, installer says no compatible graphics card detected).
This seems like a common problem and I've tried about every solution I can find on Google
but nothing has worked yet (using custom inf, driver sweep, EC reset, install XP drivers, re-install windows, etc) .
Sometimes I can get the card to appear in device manager with no error in Safemode, but even then the installer does not work.
The Intel HD graphics card works fine.
I am still under the warranty period, but I don't think that technical support can help me with this.
I suspect that the card is being restricted to Windows 7 in the BIOS, but I can't see it myself
so do you know if it is possible to enable the graphics card to work in Vista through the BIOS?
(NVIDIA support site also mentions enabling “Assign IRQ to VGA” in the BIOS to fix the Code 10 error)
    System Model: CX640 (MS-16Y1)
    BIOS Version: E16Y1IMS.300
    EC Version: 16Y1WMS1.52

    Hello Svet,
    Short Report:
I was able to successfully apply this BIOS MOD!
    Thank you!
    Long Report:
First time I applied this MOD I got a BSOD during the update.
Notebook would no longer boot after this.
The reason for BSOD can be too many to speculate.
After some days of painstaking trial and error I was finally able to boot again into Windows Vista by
renaming your custom ROM to BIOS.ROM (from a separate computer of course), putting it on a USB stick,
plugging it into the right side USB 2.0 port (left side 3.0 does not work for this)
then pressing CTRL + HOME at boot up, which brought me to the "Crisis Update" screen.
This is similar to other APTIOS -based BIOS recovery methods.
Keyboard does not work in "Crisis Update" for some reason, external USB keyboard also does not work.
So a recovery flash this way is impossible. Legacy USB was never disabled in original BIOS so I do not know why it does not work.
However, unplugging the AC adapter and letting the battery drain to a low level
the "Crisis Update" screen will then give an error saying the battery is too low to recover BIOS
and automatically exit, and then miraculously Windows Vista loads like normal
(at this point the BIOS is still broken, so upon restart the above procedure must be repeated in order to boot the OS again).
With this method,  I re-applied your ROM and it flashed with no problem the second time around, I restarted and my system was fully recovered
I hope that this information helps other CX640 users or other users with a similar setup.
About the 520m graphic card issue:
As I suspected I found Windows Vista-specific settings that were hidden in the BIOS, but I am not sure which need to be changed.
I am still somewhat traumatized from the complete system failure that I am weary to change unfamiliar BIOS settings.
I found a "Vista Only" option for native PCI-E support recently in the Advanced chipset menu.
The initial option was "disabled" and so I set it to "enabled" and then another "Vista-Only" option magically appears for ASPM.
I have a feeling it has something to do with this. If you can provide me with some insight to this, I would greatly appreciate it,
but if not I guess I will have to continue to investigate on my own.
I know that the 520m graphic card is not broken because booting the notebook with Windows 7 the card works perfectly.
Also, after upgrading the original DDR3-1066 2GB RAM to DDR3-1333 8GB (broke warranty sticker)
Vista feels like it has gained a significant performance gain over Windows 7, so I still prefer to run Vista over Win 7 for now
