First Issue:
this item IdeaPadZ410 was ordered 2/7/14 and canceled 7 days later when i called Lenovo by YOUR customer service representative, then he helped me purchase the computer I wanted! why did I receive this item and was billed for it? it was originally supposed to take over 2 weeks to be manufactured. I was clearly told I could cancel and I was told that he did cancel the order before ordering the other item.
CRITICAL PROBLEMS: with operating system
I purchased a JVC camcordee and installed MediaBrowser4 which came with the item. Test it and made sure the software with convert MOD files to JPEG and mp4. Everything worked fine installed it on the other computer. When I turned on the computer (Y510p) from a cold boot. the icons and files were missing the directories were still there so i reinstalled software and then checked the other computer and everything seems to be fine with that one. a few days later turned on the computer and was informed that McAfee's would be expiring in 9 days. so went to their site and purchased your subscription for the whole home. when I attempted to install the software. the system did a full crash and would not boot up. had to use the Lenovo one key recovery. restore to factory settings. when it was done and I got back into the system I attempted to do the normal software updates and uninstalled MediaBrowser 4. windows said there was no updates. I knew there was so ran the troubleshooter and it said everything was working correctly. So ran find and fix problem hey there was a problem with updates and hardware. could not fix. . first I went to a novice support site where you have virtually nothing for IdeaPad (what kind of computer company wouldn't offer support for the line of computers) found where your system would check the computer. after the scan a window popped up and give me a number to contact for support with a reference number. Got on the phone called and and before I even gave the reference number or type of computer I had. was told "I need to BUY" and I hungup now completely infuriated and frustrated WITH Lenovo and their products. contacted Microsoft via Internet. I was told they could fix my registry problem. told the rep great go ahead. then he said "there'd be a fee of a hundred and". when I completely lost it and hungup for the second time that night. the next day I tried Microsoft support desk that suggest in running /sfc in administer command prompt where there is about 10 critical dll and exe files rhat could not be fixed . what Windows does show how to replace them. so ran it on the other computer since it had a working windows 8 .1 or so I thought so. this can only one file that was not fixable. I thought luckily it's not the one I need. so went through the long process of copying them and getting them linked with the other associated files. ran the scan again no help same problem. by this time Windows is running extremely slow and if I open an app 50% percent of the time the system locks up forceing me to use the z410. thinking something like fix my PC with work. checked online and actually found one of these full of crap fix your computer programs which is in your adware/ bloatware crappy load on the computer. here we go again so I had to buy software. easily stabilizing the software on the Z 410 only 383 corrupt Windows files. the Y510p took me hours to actually get McAfee uninstalled and system mechanics Pro installed. and only able to run a single process at a time before it froze. now the Y510p had well over 1300 corrupt Windows files. thinking things were starting to look a little better for me check to see if programs would load/run and most did just very slow to load. so windows is stable enough loading the operating system and running a few programs. So right now I basically have 2 expensive yet worthless pieces of BLEEP i mean electronics cluttering up our computer/office room infuraiating me with the choice I made on buying my new labtop. just wondering what I can do without spending even more money on computers that aren't even a month old, to actually work like a new computer. please advise me of what options I do have. yes I will buy windows 8 .1 install disk. I am asking you for your help and support in these issues. it would also help greatly with my opinion of your company and products.
at your mercy the ride guy
p.s. have already filled out and submitted the Return Authorization PO forms. Eagerly waiting for CONFIRMATION from lenovo!

  • Ideapad Y510p Windows 8.1 Interface Problem

Ever since I upgraded to windows 8.1, which was right around when it came out for public use, I have been having problems with the interfaces on my computer. Its very difficult to explain. When I start up my computer, all of the tiles on the start screen are completely white. They don't show their icons until I mouse over them. This same type of thing is happening in all of my metro apps (doesn't show anything until I click on it), even the Lenovo support app. When I pull up the charms bar, all of the things are still there and i can click them, but they don't show up. The charms bar is currently just a completely grey bar. I also have this occuring in Chrome (desktop version), where sometimes if I go back to chrome, all of my tabs are white and the address bar/bookmarks don't apppear until I click and drag the window. I can no longer use the white tabs and I have to open new ones to use the internet. Can someone please help me fix this, because it seems all of my Graphical interfaces are messed up, and I have no idea what is causing this. Thanks!

  • Intel Wireless-N 7260 Slow Internet Speed - Solved (Win 8.1 64-bit, Wireless N @ 2.4GHz)

Obviously there are numerous factors that can affect speed. But if you have reason to believe it's just your laptop try the configuration below. Worked for me. Good Luck.
    Laptop:
    Lenovo Ideapad Y510P, Windows 8.1 64-bit.
    Internet Connection:
Comcast Xfinity Blast advertised at 50Mbps.
    Network Environment:
Home Wifi, Linksys E1500 Router Wireless N @ 2.4 GHz. Firmware Version: 1.0.06
Apartment Building, ~15 visible other Wifi networks.
Devices with 15 feet of router.
    Problem Symptoms:
Download speeds of 2-3 Mbps. Upload speeds were typically much higher, around 10Mbps as should be expected.
    Control Reference:
    ~50Mbps using ethernet cable.
Older Laptop getting ~45Mbps over Wifi.
    Solution:
From what I gathered, the problem with the card happens on Wireless N 2.4MHz routers.
    Driver version : 17.13.2.2
    File : Wireless_17.13.2_De164.zip
Downloaded from : http://goo.gl/S3HOCL (Intel download page. URL was too long to post)
Installation : Unzip to a folder, Run the DPInst64.exe application - does a 'simple' driver install. No Bloatware / fluff.
Device Settings: I'm listing only the values that I changed along the way.
    Device Manager > Network Adapters > Intel(R) Wireless-N 7260 > Properties > Advanced.
    802.11n Channel Width for 2.4GHz : Auto
Ad Hoc Qos Mode : WMM Disabled
HT Mode : HT Mode (ie ON. You need this for Wireless N. If Disabled you can only connect to Wireless b/g/mixed)
    Roaming Aggressiveness : 1. Lowest
Throughput Booster : Enabled (Not sure if this is necessary. It's an optional feature giving priority over other devices)
    Transmit Power : 3. Medium
U-APSD Support : Disabled (According to numerous posts, this is critical)
    Wireless Router Wireless Settings:
    Network Mode : Wireless-N Only
Channel Width : 20 MHz Only. (My only other option is 'Auto (20 MHz or 40 MHz). On 'Auto...' every device I have really slows).
Channel : Auto (I had this set to '3' since day one to avoid the channels other Routers in my building are using. Defintely noticed improvement but it seems its not necessary with this configuration. Could be due to other networks not being used at the time of testing. I'm keeping an eye on this).
Bluetooth Network Connection (Personal Area Network):
    Disabled
(I have a running bluetooth mouse which is not affected by disabling this)
    Result:
    Testing duration 6 hours, ~ 10 times.
For the settings. most likely there's some that are not necessary. But after working on this for 3 days, I'm not changing anything for the time being.
    Blurb:
I'm posting this to hopefully help others who have this issue. Researching the problem I found numerous lengthy fourm threads filled with frustrated users...one on Intel's support site was 18 pages long with literally months of posts with several users discussing a class action lawsuit...enough said.
I tried pretty much all the posted solutions, lots of different driver versions, device settings, router settings. There's so much misinformation out there it's not funny. Eventually I called Lenovo Tech Support who tried simialr things and momentarily got it a bit better and wanted to say it was fixed. I hung on a kept testing the slow speed soon returned. Then they tried all the usual nonsense and excuses and gave up, passing me off to "Premium Support:" who wanted to charge me to investigate the problem. The "premium" techs were really poor and sounded like a bunch of clueless hacks just trying to get you to pay for the service while simultaneously throwing in gems like "how far is your laptop from the router...that can affect your speed"...anyway, forget that I thought.
When I first got the Lenovo Ideapad Y510P last year I had the same or similar issue. I don't recall how I fixed it then but I got it to ~20-30Mbps. While well below my older laptop's speed it was perfectly adequate. That was last August. Earlier this year there was an update for Intels stuff in a Windows update. I think the problem started again with that although I'm not 100% sure. Certainly I didn't manually install new drivers or change anything on my network set-up.

Intel Wireless-N 7260 works at only 2.4Ghz. Refer the specifications of this wireless card:

  • Adobe Illustrator CS4 Low resolution

    Hey all,
When I launch adobe illustrator cs4 it opens in a very low resolution.
I'm running Adobe Illustrator CS4 it on my Lenovo Y510P, Windows 8 (64bit), screen resolution set to 1920x1080
Running Photoshop CS4 on the contrary opens in full hd resolution.
I was unable to find a working solution on the web, all solutions i found were not relevant in CS4.
I would very much appreciate your help.
    Screenshots:
Photoshop is sharp and HD, Illustrator is blurred and low resolution

I see no difference in sharpness/crispness between the screenshots.
Actually there is. It's not really loss of resolution, but rather some sort of secondary antialiasing. This would normally happen with specific color management settings or application specific graphics card profiles that are unsuitable. I'd look into that.

  • X4000b won't connect

Have an HP X4000b mouse on Lenovo Y510P Windows 8.1 laptop.
Mouse will connect and pair one time.
Once I turn the system off, the next time I use the system, the mouse is reported as connected,
however the mouse doesn't work. I have to uninstall the mouse, then the mouse is found, installed, and paired.
Works fine, but I have to go through this every single time I get back to working on the system.
Has anyone seen this? Any recommendations?
    TIA.

    Hi,
Please don't ask me why, turn the mosue ON first then turn the laptop. I have to do this for my Microsoft Surface RT too. Could be Windows 8.1 bug.

  • Where to find my serial number?

    Hey guys,
I've looked through a lot of questions and I still haven't found the answer to where I can find my serial number or redemption code for the products?
Purchased: "Creative Cloud for teams (1 year subscription)" with my account [email protected]
I invited my own email address ([email protected]).
I accepted the invitation through the email and downloaded the "CCPLauncher".
I made a package of 6-7 products, downloaded and installed.
I can access some programs like Bridge, but Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign etc. needs a Sign in and registration with a serial number.
I click the Photoshop icon and it loads the following screens
"Sign in Required", I click sign in (with my account [email protected]).
""Photoshop CC 2014 Trial", I click License this software
"Serial number", it requires me to fill in a serial number.... but I've never received any.
Where can I find this serial number or in other ways get access to the purchased software?

I've tried running the login process with or without Creative Cloud running in the back.
    Best regards Emil

    Hi Sanjeeta and Arnaud,
    Thank you for the referral
I did the following and it turned out to work perfectly.
    A) I listed all Adobe programs on the Firewall exception (like I've done with programs like Steam, where I play games), I'm not certain this helped.
    D) Delete the OPM.db file:
    Close the Creative Cloud application.
    Navigate to the OOBE folder.
    Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
    Mac OS: /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE
    Delete the opm.db file.
    Launch Creative Cloud.
    O) Went through step 2 and 3 > Sign in, activation, or connection errors | CS5.5 and later
    B) Restarted the computer.
    E) Singed into Creative Cloud first, then launched Photoshop and the other programs.
Thank a lot for all your help
    Best regards Emil

  • BIOS Update 3.05 to 3.08 (Bricked?)

    Hey all,
Tried to update BIOS from 3.05 to 3.08, and as it finished installation from the .exe, the system seemed to crash. Now, the computer boots up partially, but never gets to the login screen, windows 8.1 keeps searching for an error but never fixes it, and a system restore didn't work.
This leaves me to believe I screwed up the BIOS. I can get to the BIOS menu, and it does say it is version 3.08 at this point.
What am I to do now? I have not found any information on what steps I should take other  than "I'm screwed" or create a bootable USB to reflash. Even reflash instructions are tough to accurately find.
    Thanks!
    System: Ideapas Y510P,  Windows 8
Message I get before windows login screen: "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart "
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Figures this would happen just as I posted.
So I was able to boot up in safe mode, and then after I shut off the computer and booted back up normally, things worked.
I'm treading lightly for now... Any ideas what happened?
I did try resetting bios default settings before though to no avail.

  • Windows 8.1 update problem on LENOVO Y510P

    Hey guys,
Can't find anything similar to my problem and exhausted my options on this, so decided to ask. If it has been answered I couldn't find, so please point me out on the right direction.
    Back history:
    Have a lenovo y510p
Bought caddy & SSD drive and installed it onto laptop
Couldn't find a good doc about how to proced so my idea was
    1-restore factory settings,
2-Copied the Windows C: partition and the SYSTEM_DRV partition to the SSD using Macrium reflect
3-Went on the BIOS boot order and set the SSD to boot first.
4-Voila, works fine, boots C: on the SSD and it's super fast.
    Problem:
Windows 8.1 update can't install on C:. Bummer
I receive a notification saying that I can update to windows 8.1, which I want to do.
    1 Hit ok to download,
2 it starts the update process,
    3 finishes installing,
4 says it needs to restart
5-RESTARTS TO THE OLD DRIVE, changing the boot order on the BIOS (**bleep**???)
I then check that nothing was installed even on the old drive, proceed to shut down computer, change boot order back to SSD drive, start windows and receive a message that it couldn't be installed and it has reverted the installation.
    Has anyone ever experienced that?
    My idea now is to
    Back up my computer again
Restore factory settings (on old drive)
Install windows 8.1 to old drive
    Clone windows partition over
Change BIOS to boot up on SSD.
HOWEVER my question is: What happens when I want to install Windows 10 ? Do you think I'll face the same issue?
Should I somehow format the old drive's windows partition to prevent this from happening ?
Any help is welcome and I thank you all in advance,
    Cheers

Did you erase the recovery partition on the old drive? My best guess is to create recovery discs or thumbdrive take the old drive out and put the new drive in and use the discs or thumbdrive to restore the system. Then run the updates and then copy your personal information from the old disc to the new disc.
As for Windows 10, I do not know if they are going to be doing a clean install with the update to windows 10 or doing an in place update so it is hard to know what problems you will encounter.

  • Can't install windows 8 on M.2 SATA SSD Ideapad y510p

    hello,
So i bought an ADATA M.2 SSD to put in my Ideapad Y510P, it has an M.2 slot.
In the BIOS it does see the SSD, so i started to boot windows 8 from a dvd, now when i select the SSD to install it on, it gives the following error:
Windows can't be installed on this location, the followig has happend: 0x80070002
I already tried to boot windows 8.1 from usb but the same thing happend, then i updated the BIOS since there was a newer version available, this also didnt help.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed??
    Bram

Yes, you should check the Disk Management also again. The SSD should be displayed there, if it is not being displayed then change the Boot Mode from UEFI to Legacy and try to install windows. (And Yes SecureBoot needs to be Disabled)
Ideally, the SSD should be initialized first from the Disk Management (But after all tries if you still can't see it, just try the above method.

  • Will Kinect for windows v2(Xbox one Kinect) work with my Lenovo Y510p?

    Hello everyone,
Im new here and I have a question. I have a lenovo Y510p laptop with following configurations
    RAM:8GB DDR3
    Processor: intel i7 4700MQ 2.40Ghz to 3.40Ghz
    GPU: Nvidia 755M(No SLI)
    OS:Windows 8 x64
    USB 3.0 x 2
Physical Cores 4 and Logical cores 8
So when I ran the Kinect v2 Configuration Verifier it says
Supported USB 3.0 detected but with unknown bandwidth Kinect may or may not work. Will Kinect work one mine or not? Has anyone having Lenovo y510p got it working?
    Thanks in advance.

Depending on whether or not you have other devices sharing the same bandwidth as the USB3 chipset host controller that will be used for Kinect. The only way to tell on that system will be to connect a device to see what happens. The possible issues that
can occur are described in the troubleshooting thread:

  • Windows 10 Upgrade (Y510p)

Hopefully this'll help some people thinking of upgrading . Everything went smoothly for me. All fiels, programs, drivers, and settings transferred from my Windows 7 install to Windows 10 (and also from 8.1 to 10 on my Dell, so I assum it'll work on a Lenovo too). Upgrade process was painless and took about 20 minutes. Only temporary issue was video drivers, but that got solved later. Make sure you check for updates in Windows Update right after you upgrade; there's a day one patch they put out and it fixes quite alot of bugs (1GB of them actually). This fixed any driver issues I had and made my screen resolution normal, as it was previously running 800x600 or something, so don't freak out if your screen look weird at first. It automatically changes your default programs though, so if you use Chrome or Firefox you'll need to change it back to that from the new Edge browser. Otherwise, most settings were imported. So far I have found nothing that is incompatible with Windows 10 on my computer; however, beware that you will need to reinstall your anti-virus when Windows prompts you, as it is uninstalled prior to the upgrade. Doesn't cause any issues though and your computer is not at risk throughout the process. However, I would still recommend that unless you're a developer or tech-savvy person you wait for a few weeks to upgrade, as Microsoft will constantly be fixing bugs over the rollout period. Windows 10 is free for a year and your reservation does not expire, so there's no rush. Edit: Corrected resolution.

I have Kaspersky Total on the Y510p and Avast Free on the Dell. Both work fine after the upgrade. The wireless seems to work so far, although I still need to do some tests. I'll update this later once I know more, but so far all seems fine, although no apparent improvement (that could just be my network's fault though ). I use a custom energy plan, although I'll check the Lenovo stuff later and update this post along with the wireless information from above. I do know that things from Lenovo such as VeriFace no longer work though, see this thread. It could be a few months before Lenovo has all of their apps updated for Windows 10. Also, I use the Y510p modded BIOS, and no issues have arisen.

  • My y510p is warming up under windows 8.1

Hi, i've got my pc y510p from 6 months, and these days it's warming up without opening many programs, and it uses 4 go of RAM when i open only google chrome, and this affect the pc's performances when i open some games,
Note: the fan is always working hard. please help me. thanks in advance

Make sure nothing is running in the background. Open the task manager and check all the programs for CPU and RAM usage. I find it easier to set all the values to percents. If you notice something, research what it is and how to fix it. If you don't see anything in the background, I recommend running some virus scans.
P.S. The RAM usage is not unusual. Mine runs with 4gb when I have Chrome and Steam and my other background apps open.

You did not specify what version you have installed for Win 10 so I'll assume version 10049. Try using other version or use other driver version.
Note: Win 10 is not yet final so expect other features and bugs.

  • Y510P with HDD/SSD and Windows 10 installed itself to HDD

We have a Lenovo ideapad Y510P with a 25GB SSD in addition to the HDD (889GB). When we installed Windows 10 it didn't install to the SSD, renamed the SSD "D" and did the install on the HDD. I'm kicking myself for not looking on the lenovo website before installing Windows 10. I'm really hoping that there's a way to fix this. I bought this computer for my husband who gets really frustrated when the computer is slow. He mostly uses it for work stuff and I used to drag him along with me to play WoW. I now see that it's not on Lenovo's list of computers that are supported for Windows 10. I realize that I might have to revert to Windows 8, but is there anything I can do? And how do I revert it if there's no way to fix it?  Thanks in advance...

Please remember that this is a community forum and that Lenovo staff are not necessarily present on it . If you want their direct support you need to actually call customer service. If you don't mind spending $20 to do this, here is an article/software that will migrate your OS without disturbing personal files. You can also just google "move windows from hdd to ssd" for other options. But the gist of pretty much all of them is that you need to tell it to clone only the OS instead of everything, the method just differs.

  • Lenovo y510p audio problem on Windows 10 x64

Hi i am using lenovo y510p and i having some problem. After installing Windows 10 x64 I can`t use the 5.1 speakers connected via optics. At sound check box gives "Failed to play test sound"/
To solve these problem I tried:
    1. Reinstalt drivers Realtek (tried as a version from official Lenovo suport and the latest version from Realtek);
    2.Plug and unplug optics (Realtek Didgital Output) in "Sound";
3.Restart the Windows Audio  service.4. Reinstalt chipset and audio drivers.
Now the external speakers working in stereo .

The drivers listed for under Y510p was not the lastest for our audio hardware, hence why I gave you a link to (what I think) is the latest version. Those should have no problem working under Win 10 (and maybe Win 8.1).
Y510p has a "weak" audio chipset in the sense that it isn't handled well by the drivers providided on Realtek's homepage.
